Re: [CTRL] CHRISTIAN COALITION LOSES TAX EXEMPT STATUS
-Caveat Lector- -- From: Robert Tatman The Internal Revenue Service has reportedly ruled that the Christian Coalition is so thoroughly partisan that it does not deserve tax-exempt status, a development welcomed by People For the American Way Foundation President Carole Shields, who called the ruling "long overdue but worth the wait." -Caveat Lector- I think what I wanted to say re Ms. Clinton running for Sentor from New Yorknote the 'from" New York. She would have to meet certain residential qulifications and of course they would have looked into thisbut she would have to be a legal resident of New York for at least a year, if their laws are the same as ours. You might be able to vote the first year as a new resident in a State but do you not have to have lived in the State a period of one year as a registered voter for run for Senate. You can vote for President most anywhere so long as you are a registered voter; but to represent the State, you wouwld have had to be a citizen of the state for a year, unless the law was changed. Re: [CTRL] CHRISTIAN COALITION LOSES TAX EXEMPT STATUS
-Caveat Lector- By the way June, State Government in Ohio did the same thing; a Rhodes Scholarby the name of Richard Celeste back in early eighties wanted to move from Govenor to President, assisted the Unionin the door.then said there was no more Civil Service Well these idiots said the Union contract would supersede the state laws.and that was there mistake, because evidently they did not know, the Constitution of the State of Ohio set up Civil Serviceand in a case I had I used that one So Union workers in the State, which is nearly everybody, renders unto Cesar and unto the Union, which then takes their money and gives it to candidates whom they do not likebut the Union married the State, what Hoffa would call a "sweetheart" Union.my happiest day was when Celeste got tromped, and didn't have time to spend his war chest... But during the Union.friends of friends go the promotions, and illitrate individuals some who could not read nor write. some of whom stole the Union blind.and got caughtgot jobs - but that finally got tripped up, and I helped do it. What is odd.during the big Union Wars with the Big Railroads - the Unions and the men of Big Business both used the bible, as their authority to do what they didand big business pulled in the Pinkertons who formed the first Secret Service, for hired killers to kill and hurt th workers. There is a season for all things; it seems when one one goes to far to the left, the independent vote comes to the rescue, and when it goes too far to the right, the good old independent vote brings it around again. When a good Union Man dies, it used to be they gave his family a bible; today with women in the Union, when someonedies, they merely take you name off the dues checkoff list - and goodbye old pal. Thats what happens when the Union Heads, the man at the top, joins the CFR and sells out the Union. Joining a Union, is just like when the States joined the Union.try and get out. To most people living in Roman occupied Palestine, whatever it was, it wasn't anything of theirs. snip You know, if you look at that story in full historical context, it takes on a somewhat different importance. Because of the prohibition on worship of other gods, the Temple priests coined special money *for use only in the Temple*. The moneychangers were there specifically to change "unclean" coins for "clean" ones that could properly be used by worshippers. Like all moneychangers, of course, they adjusted the exchange rate to benefit themselves and their patrons on the Temple staff...and it was in fact the exhorbitant fees charged for changing money, as well as for sacrificial animals, that Jesus was objecting to when he scourged the moneychangers out of the Temple. Remember, "you have made it a den of thieves"--literally. And there's another element operating. Jesus is sitting *in the Temple precincts*, probably in the Porch of the Gentiles, with his disciples. When that Pharisee poses the question about paying taxes, Jesus asks him for a coin--specifically a denarius, that is, a *Roman* coin. This was, quite frankly, a trap for the Pharisee. Roman coins at that time bore the image of the Emperor Tiberius. And Tiberius had recently been deified in the Province of Syria, which Jerusalem was part of. So this utterly stupid Pharisee pulls a denarius out of his purse...thus admitting openly that he has flouted the Temple priesthood's interpretation of Mosaic law by bringing the graven image of another god into the Temple. And Jesus rubs the Pharisee's face in this faux pas by telling him curtly, "Give Caesar the things that are Caesar's; give God the things that are God's." Yep, you better believe the crowd loved it... Bob = Robert F. Tatman [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] Remove "nospam" from the address to reply. NOTICE: In accordance with Title 17 U.S.C. -Caveat Lector- At 06:47 PM 6/10/99 -0400, you wrote: -Caveat Lector- I always thought it was illegal to tax church activity regardless of their politics. It is. However, if a church is an incorporated 501(c) church then they are technically "state" churches and must remain unpartisan. They must abide by the IRS rules. They could un-incorporate by cancelling their IRS 501(c) status. Then they could do whatever they wanted without government interference. The first amendment applies. And the government may NOT tax a non-501(c) unincorporated church. A church is a group of individual people who have already paid income taxes. Taxing a church is double taxation. The fallacy lies in the thought that a church could be a corporation. When a church incorporates it voluntarily gives up some Constitutional rights and comes under the IRS rules. Just as one gives up certain rights when they sign the 1040 income tax form. Many churches are now finding out that they do not have to incorporate and there are many new "Unregistered" churches springing up all over. The feds hate it, hence, Waco. But then the Feds hate the Constitution, too. The God of incorporated churches, by the churches own free will, is the Federal Government. Unregistered churches owe no allegiance except to Jesus Christ. I wonder what the status of "The People For The Socialist Way" is. --- "The rising greatness of our country...is greatly tarnished by the general prevalence of deism, which, with me, is but another name for vice and depravityI hear it is said by the deists that I am one of their number; and indeed that some good people think I am no Christian. In a recent message to his flock at the First Baptist Church, the Rev. Robert Jeffress said America is a Christian nation and congregants should defeat city council members at the polls if they refuse to ban two books with gay themes from the local public library. According to the June 29 Wichita Falls Times Record News, Jeffress challenged his congregation to "vote out the infidels who would deny God and his word." The pastor noted that city council races traditionally attract low voter turnout and urged his congregation, which claims 8,300 members, to vote for those who agree with their spiritual convictions. In a July 9 letter to Jeffress, Americans United for Separation of Church and State warned that the preacher was placing his church's tax exemption in jeopardy. "Your comments about how your congregation should vote in the next election raise serious legal questions. If you proceed with your plan to use your church to defeat city council members with whom you disagree," observed the Rev. Barry W. Lynn, Americans United executive director, "you are placing the tax-exempt status of your congregation in jeopardy. "The meaning of your 'vote out the infidels' comment is clear," Lynn added. "You want city council members to vote your way about library books you find objectionable, and if they fail to do so, you are instructing your congregation to vote against them. As such, you have issued a political threat, and this is exactly the kind of activity that federal tax law is trying to prevent. "Pastor Jeffress, you have every right to express your views on public issues," Lynn explained. "As a Christian minister myself, I treasure the right of religious organizations to participate in public discourse. However, you do not have the right to impose your religious views on all citizens of your community through force of law. America is a diverse democracy, not a fundamentalist Christian theocracy." Americans United is currently engaged in a nationwide campaign to educate clergy about the laws governing church involvement in politics. As part of the project, churches that violate the rules are being reported to the IRS. In recent years, Americans United has notified the IRS of 14 religious institutions that attempted to influence the outcome of elections, including two churches and one religious radio network in Texas. Further, in 1992, Americans United alerted the IRS to the activities of the Church at Pierce Creek in Vestal, N.Y. At that time, the church purchased full-page advertisements in national newspapers urging readers to vote against then-candidate Bill Clinton in the 1992 presidential election. Three years after Americans United reported this blatant example of church politicking to the IRS, the church's tax exemption was revoked. Americans United is a religious liberty watchdog group based in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1947, the organization represents 60,000 members and allied houses of worship in all 50 states. -30- © Americans United for Separation of Church and State, 1998. Why do non productive money grubbing religious institutions get to not pay taxes, while single working parents with small children do? Individuals in churches do pay income taxes. Single working parents with small children don't pay any income taxes and actually, thanks to the socialist engineers, usually get back more than they paid in. Get the tax burden off the poor and put it on these perverts, frauds, charlatans, and thieves. Joshua2 The poor have no tax burden. The tax burden is on the middle class because that's where the bulk of production and income is. -- Pertinent Ronnie Reagan Quotes: I'm sure that everyone feels sorry for the individual who has fallen by the wayside or who can't keep up in our competitive society, but my own compassion goes beyond that to those millions who get up every morning, send the kids to school, go to work, try to keep up the payments on their house, pay exorbitant taxes to make possible compassion for the less fortunate, and as a result have to sacrifice many of their own desires and dreams and hopes. Government owes them something better than always finding a new way to make them share the fruit of **their** toils with others. - Believe me, you cannot create a desert, hand a person a cup of water, and call that compassion. - Government exists to protect the rights which are ours from birth; the right to life, to liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. A man may choose to sit and fish instead of working -- that's his pursuit of happiness. He does not have the right to force his neighbors to support him in his pursuit because that interferes with their pursuit of happiness. ** [EMAIL PROTECTED] The Patriot Resource Center: http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/6627/ **Live Free or Die!** DECLARATION DISCLAIMER == CTRL is a discussion and informational exchange list. To most people living in Roman occupied Palestine, whatever it was, it wasn't anything of theirs. and look what they did to him - the only man who never complained and drove the gamblers out of the temples. They weren't gamblers; they were money changers. The chronology of the event is telling. When Jesus was telling people to turn the other cheek, the government had no problem at all with him preaching in public and drawing a crowd. But when he said, "Let he that hath no sword sell his garment and buy one," and went downtown with a whip in his hand and started kicking banker butt, the government killed him off pronto. Re: [CTRL] CHRISTIAN COALITION LOSES TAX EXEMPT STATUS
-Caveat Lector- Always remember the Catholics paid taxes to send protestant children to school, yet built their own schools for their children.and got no tax breaks on that. Religion is politics...you cannot differentiate between the two - for example, Jesus kicked the gamblers out of the Temple, and look what happened o him. Fidel Castro kicked the Mafia out of their gambling temples, and he is still on a hit list..same people, remember it was Judas who had the bag So speaking of bag men; exmple of corruption in governmentit is pay back time. This James Carville who called Paula Jones "trailer trash"this is symbolic of how the present administration feels about the less affluent.this man is now doing advertisements for Alka Seltzer, and appeared in a movienow normally, in the old days to return favors, the Mafia would let certain people win at the gambling tables. Now how much was Carville paid to go on TV and call Paula Jones "trailer trash" because she got involved innocently, in Clinton's crude, vulger, sick life.and who really paid when Ms. Jones won her lawsuit.why friends and did Mr. Clinton pay taxes on these "gifts"or were these political contributions.did he pay taxes on the gifts he received from China where the secrets of the neutron bomb were given awayyet he would like to take guns away from law abiding citizens. Add all this crap up, and the corruption begins in the Oval Officeand the revenge is, take out the Christian Coalition, and get them where it hurts.meanwhile Carville, how much will he pay in taxes, this ugly, obscene, liar who now is becoming a movie star - even though minute roles.pay back time. Tax the Churchbiblical law, render unto Ceasar.but remember, Clinton.the pervert responsible for these decision on the part of the fedsfor we all know in our hearts, federal judges are the worst judges money can buy. Goodbye Clintonand for a laughtonite Mrs. Clinton appeared with the President, along with the New York Yankeesbut, take a look at the faces of the team, they were not laughing, and believe me, the Clintons looked rather uncomfortablebut remember too, organized crimes owns organized sports. So it is not only pay back time, it would seem that the Clintons would now use the New York Yankees, to help push this carpetbagger into office. If these people have no property, no home other than the White House.and have lived off the public for all those years.where are they registered to vote? As the home base, of course.Cinton vacated the Governor's Office.but where did they hang there hat to meet qualifications to run for office.
