That sounds like a good idea. I will figure out how to create such a
style. I will make a 1734x1734 crop when I am on a 100% picture for this
style. In the mean time I can use the copy/paste of the 'crop portion'
of an image with the correct size. How can I enter an RFC to have this
option in darktable?

Yes, the information you can enter manually in the cropping module is an aspect
ratio, not an actual dimension. You can enter dimensions in the export module,
which is a bounding box that the image will be scaled to fit within. Neither of
these do what you seem to want to do, which is take an exact sized crop from
your image.

This can be difficult with larger-than-screen images in darktable... you need
to view the image at 100% for the cropping guide movement to be pixel-precise,
which is very awkward, but that's the only method I've found for the times when
I've wanted to do this. The alternative is allowing a margin, then final
cropping with an external application, which isn't terribly convenient.
That might explain why there is a difference between the crop size that
you select and what you get.

fwiw, I cannot either. I believe the is only for angular
positioning. but it is possible to crop one image, go to lighttable, copy
crop portion of history stack and paste it to other images. then edit the
other images to reposition the crop to desired location and you will have
the same crop parameters. one could craft a style of only crop at
particular parameters and use that to make a group of photos have
"exactly" the same crop.

just successfully test the copy, paste. did not bother to make a style.

Thanks guys for your remarks.

I cannot get the window to add the size(s) like Patrick. I tried his
proposal to enter the sizes in the config file. Darktable reduces my
1734x1734 into aspect ratio 1 (square). To bypass the 'wrong' export
size I also crop my pictures 1 or 2px bigger.

About the solution from Willy. I know this but I do not want to scale my
pictures. I opted to crop them slightly bigger.

You might want to look in the Export selected module (2.3.12, p. 36 in

scale the image down appropriately.
