Hi Tomas,

I've prepared an NMU for this bug using the attached patch. The NMU will be
uploaded to the DELAYED/5-day queue on gluck shortly. If you believe this
NMU is insufficient for some reason, please feel free to supersede it with
an upload of your own.

Bug#337942: dpkg: s-s-d --stop --exec is an unreliable misfeature

2005-11-18 Thread Devin Carraway
[ unrelated maintainer who just found this behavior trying to test another
  package entirely ]

I don't believe the /proc/pid/exe symlink contents will change; the (deleted)
convention is lsof's, AFAIK.

Although the argument made in Bug#256790 is plausible, matching the exact
executable doesn't seem particularly useful behavior, especially when dealing
with --exec arguments that signify other packages entirely (e.g. script
interpreters.) Calling readlink() on /proc/pid/exe and comparing the result
against the --exec argument would be more useful in such cases.

Bug#339007: php4-mapscript: php_mapscript.so is into incorrect directory

2005-11-18 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

severity 339007 important
thanks

I get this error because php_mapscript.so is into /usr/lib/php4/20020429:

Warning: dl(): Unable to load dynamic library
 '/usr/lib/php4/20050606/php_mapscript.so' -
/usr/lib/php4/20050606/php_mapscript.so: cannot open shared object file

I have corrected this problem with a symbolic link.

The date used in /usr/lib/php4/ is supposed to be the PHP ABI/API
version. I'm told the php4 ABI/API version is supposed to be
20020429, and the php5 ABI version is supposed to be 20041030. I have
no idea where your '20050606' ABI/API comes from.

PHP5 support was added to mapserver version 4.6.1-5, see bug #333057.
Perhaps it is related to this problem?

I'm reducing the severity from grave to important, because I believe
the ABI/API date is correct for php4, and I've also been told that it
works for others. Grave severity would only be correct for this issue
if it was broken for everyone.

Bug#339214: library package needs to be renamed (libstdc++ allocator change)

2005-11-18 Thread Joerg Jaspert
Hi

Steve asked for a little comment here, so here it goes:

- Your package was held back since it was requested to ease a move of
whatever packages to testing. I cant see right now a unblock request in
my mail folders (but that may be because Im @work, so may be unable to
find it, limited access to my mailbox @home) and simply skipped it while
doing NEW and havent checked again if it could go through (sorry).

- Right now you should upload the renamed packages as it was suggested
in this bug. The pending upload wont go out of NEW now anyways. Those
c++ crap hitting us again.

Quoting You:
Based on past experience, my guess is that it will simply wait, and
wait, until it gets whatever special attention it needs. No reupload
can change that.

Pfffrt, wrong. Just always follow what vorlon says and do it.

Bug#339553: cplay: please add audioscrobbler support

2005-11-18 Thread Peter Samuelson

[Erinn Clark]
It'd rock to have audioscrobbler support for cplay since all of the
other players that support it are... not as good. I have no idea how
this could be implemented, but maybe it's easy.

Yeah, I don't know anything about the AS protocol, and a bit of
preliminary research doesn't turn up much other than just the other
implementations of same. However, the 'rbscrobbler' plugin for
rhythmbox looks promising, since it's already in clean, modular python
- it looks as though it would be relatively easy to graft its
Audioscrobbler.py into cplay. Fortunately both packages are GPL.

I'll put this somewhere on my lengthy todo list. If someone else beat
me to it, that'll be even cooler.

[Note to potential contributors: don't waste time trying to adapt
mpdscrobbler (also in python), a plugin for MPD. It's short and sweet,
true, but it's not at all modular, and more importantly it doesn't seem
to have any distribution license at all, let alone a GPL-compatible
one.]

The unblock was sent on November 2 to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
It was repeated on November 17. Should I send requests directly to
you instead of using that address? Or should I send repeated requests
more frequently? (On what frequency?)

Please look for these messages and let me know what happened to them.
It is really disturbing to think that mail is simply vanishing.
Especially given people's having been scolded so strongly by
ftpmasters for sending repeated requests, I have to assume that the
very first message was received. I am extremely reluctant to *ever*
repeat a request to ftpmaster, precisely because of this scolding.

Can you perhaps tell me what I should do when I have questions like
this? It has certainly been my experience that things which get put
on back burner just stay there. An excellent example is this very
example: what happened between November 2nd and today?

Vorlon's email seems to have received an instantaneous response from
you, where my email on November 2 is unanswered after more than two
weeks. Is this normal procedure, or did something unusual happen in
this case?

No need of a NMU, I'm responsive. Start by figuring why you Depends on a

Bug#339707: gdm overrides real X dpi

I also agree that Gnome is more at fault and it might be practical to
follow gnome until it is fixed dpi-wise (if there are any plans on
that). Nevertheless this is a bug.

GNOME intentionally sets the dpi to 96. This is because the dpi
detection code by Xfree86/X.org is unreliable with most drivers, leading
to random dpi changes upon each reboot.

a library depending on libstdc++6 and defining or referencing
*mt_alloc* symbols. The package has to be rebuilt with either
g++-4.0_4.0.2-4 or g++-3.4_3.4.4-10 (or newer). Please rename the
library package to a name with a c2a suffix, and adjust the build
dependencies if dependencies on another renamed library do exist.

My package tqsllib is only used by my other package trustedqsl.
Can I cheat and skip the library rename by simply setting better
dependencies on the rebuilds? (Library conflicts app, library shlibs
updated, app build-depends new library.)

Please don't cheat. You may catch all dependencies/conflicts, which
are _in_ the archive, but you'll miss all these, which are not in the
archive (i.e. packages depending on the lib found in a third party
repository).

When building 'kbd-chooser' on ppc64/unstable, I get the following error:

You are still at it, i see. I am not sure you really need to build a ppc64 d-i
to install a pure-powerpc64 system, so i doubt there is any real advantage in
getting the .udebs to build in 64bit mode.

Please try instead to work on base-installer/debootstrap to be able to install
your pure-powerpc64 stuff from a 32bit d-i userland running on a 64bit powerpc

convince anyone that you really need 4GB ram for d-i :)

if I take this example:
$result = mysql_fetch_array ($query);

the parenthesis are lightened when I put my cursor between the r and y
in the word query. If I put it after the y - they aren't lighten.

in this example:
if (mysql_num_rows ($query)) {
putting the cursor in the same place (between the r and y) lights the
inner. if the cursor is after the y - the outer parenthesis are lightened.

This bug has been 'fixed' by disabling the F1 and Ctrl-F keys in the manual,

you can still use the 'Search for:' field on the top of the window and using

 will still crash gPHPEdit.

Bug#339691: vacation does not wait for its sendmail child

2005-11-18 Thread Vlada Macek
[At 18.11.2005 08:23, Steve Langasek kindly sent the following quotation.]

On Fri, Nov 18, 2005 at 01:17:43AM +0100, Vlada Macek wrote:

Vacation does not wait for its sendmail child to die in any way and

Therefore accurate vacation parent (such as maildrop MDA) wipes
forked and executed sendmail before it could send any message...

Huh? Why is that a reasonable thing for the MDA to do?

As I was reading its source, Maildrop just cleans up its own mess, which
is rather creditable I think. It sets a process group at the beginning
and does

(void)kill( -getprocgroup(), SIGHUP );

in the cleanup() method. It's probably more than most of the parent
processes do out there, but at least it reveals such megabugs like that
of vacation.

I don't know whether the package maintainer is viable (there is at least
one other serious bug for vacation), but I plead for fixing this bug. It
cost me more than I day of desperation to find it, since I completely
trust Postfix-MTA code and it looked like Postfix was swallowing the
messages... Once fixed, other users wont be hurt anymore.

Thanks in advance.

Bug#339720: never call debian/control rule and build this file during the build

2005-11-18 Thread Steffen Joeris
Package: cdbs
Version: 0.4.32
Severity: serious

Hi

It should never be possible to call a target named debian/control ,
which will build a control file during the build. But this is possible
with cdbs, because the target has the name of a file which exists and then
the rules will call this target.

You have a cdbs package and for whatever reason turned on the play with
my debian/control in a bad way option. See #311724 for a long text on
that matter.
Small overview: The DEB_AUTO_UPDATE_DEBIAN_CONTROL option turned on
modifies Build-Depends, which doesn't affect the build that's running.
But it affects all following builds, which can be NMU, buildd builds
and worst case: security builds. You DO NOT want to have such a build
getting a different result (except for the small changes intended with
the build) just because there is now another thing in the
 build-depends.
  Two solutions for this:
Think about it and set the Build-Depends yourself. That's easy and you
  can check them in pbuilder.
Do this only in a special target in debian/rules that is NEVER called
automagically. So you can check what it did before you start the real
  build.

This is the text from the ftpteam which you can also find here:

http://ftp-master.debian.org/REJECT-FAQ.html

Greetings
Steffen

Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

On upgrade from 2.2.0-3 to 2.3-1, I lost most of my pinboard icons (the

choices directory had changed, and another telling it couldn't create

with an upload of your own.

This package also generates deprecation warnings from debhelper when
building, because it uses debhelper compat level 1; I haven't attempted to
change that in this NMU since the changes can be quite involved, but that's
probably something you should take a look at next time you upload.

Thanks for dealing with this.

I guess if you use udev and plug in something that adds an event device,

this is not so strange. (In that case it would not be ppc-specific either.)

No precisely

Before doing anything i had:

then I unplugged my usb mouse, and had:
0,3,4,6,7

then I plugged it back, and had:
0,1,3,4,6,7

So it's not ppc related, I think. Events are dynamically created/deleted
by udev, and they start at 0. But maybe this is a kernel bug, or udev bug..

Bug#339716: kbd-chooser: FTBFS (ppc64): Please support the ppc64 architecture

You are right, it will not be necessary to have a 64bit d-i to
install a ppc64 userland. A 32bit d-i in combination with a 64bit kernel
and some option to select 'ppc64' as the installation architecture will
probably be the easier solution.

Please try instead to work on base-installer/debootstrap to be able to install
 your pure-powerpc64 stuff from a 32bit d-i userland running on a 64bit powerpc
 kernel as currently in debian.

I will do that. Actually 'debootstrap' already works quite well for
ppc64 installations. I will try find a patch that makes
'base-installer' aware of ppc64, so that the 32bit powerpc d-i in
combination with a 64bit kernel can be used to install a ppc64 userland.

Bug#324675: Fix for display of boot message

2005-11-18 Thread Wiktor Wandachowicz

Jurij Smakov wrote:

Hi,

I believe that this problem arises due to a logic error in
print_message() function from second/misc.c, which is called to print
the boot banner. It supports substitution of some variables like
${ARCH} and ${PROM}, however if no such variables are found in the
text, it just scans through it and breaks out of the loop without
printing anything. The attached patch fixes the problem by ensuring
that the message is printed in the end. It works for me, would be
great if somebody else could confirm it.

You're right. I deduced the same after comparing the source tree for
silo-1.4.8 and silo-1.4.9. So, after downloadig and extracting the
source from, say, http://www.ultralinux.nl/silo/download/ and issuing
diff -urN silo-1.4.8 silo-1.4.9 silo-1.4.8_1.4.9.diff I got the same
result (see file attached).

The question is, why did this change was introduced while upgrading from
1.4.8 to 1.4.9 in the first place? I can't tell now (it was done in
March, I believe). But maybe there is someone who knows better?

Of course, reversing this change would solve the original problem. And I
would love to see your proposed patch to be applied ASAP, with
consequent silo-1.4.10 release too.

Wiktor Wandachowicz

Bug#339724: unsubscribing to bug reports from web page open to malicious use

2005-11-18 Thread Shaddy Baddah
Package: qa.debian.org

Hi,

I was surprised to discover that, when I attempted to unsubscribe myself
from bug reports for a specific package, via the developer web-page, the
action was committed immediately. The convention is for there to be a
request of confirmation, as anyone could feasibly enter in someone
else's email address, and unsubscribe them from bug reports.

I think this obvious loop-hole should at least be acknowledge, even if
unsolicited subscription/desubscription to bug reports is deemed not severe.

Shaddy

Bug#339727: Backup-Manager can't umount an unmounted CD

2005-11-18 Thread Cameron Horsburgh
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Package: backup-manager

Version: 0.5.8b-1
Severity: minor

I've recently started using the CD writing facility in backup-manager. I
leave a CDRW in my burner overnight, set and forget. Every once in a
while I check the archive and I can confirm that the disk image appears
to have been constructed and burnt correctly.

However, I have been getting these apparently spurious error messages
mailed to me by cron:

/etc/cron.daily/backup-manager:
umount: /dev/cdrom: not mounted
Unable to unmount the device /dev/cdrom

Given that I never mounted the disk in the first place, I'm happy about
this! However, I can imagine that this could be indicative of other
problems.

Is this normal?

Bug#339728: hal: init script missing $NAME variable in the bootup message

2005-11-18 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
Package: hal
Version: 0.5.5.1-1
Severity: normal
Tags: experimental

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

The startup script misses the $NAME variable after the Starting $DESC: part,
which could lead a user to
assume that HAL did not start/restart/stop correctly:

8X-
 sudo /etc/init.d/dbus restart
Stopping Avahi mDNS/DNS-SD Daemon: avahi-daemon.
Stopping Hardware abstraction layer: .
Stopping system message bus: dbus.
Starting system message bus: dbus.
Starting Hardware abstraction layer: .
Starting Avahi mDNS/DNS-SD Daemon: avahi-daemon.
8X-

The fix is simply to correct the messages in the do_start() and do_stop() parts
as follow:

Starting $DESC: $NAME
Stopping $DESC: $NAME

A more advanced solution would be to actually parse the error message and only
print $NAME if the daemon successfully
started or stopped.

Bug#339729: conserver-server: consevere eats 99% CPU

2005-11-18 Thread Alexandra N. Kossovsky
Package: conserver-server
Version: 8.1.1-2
Severity: important

We use conserver to share console access to devices. We use usual console
clients as well as home-made library to log data from console into the logs
of running test.

After using home-made library, conserver sometimes runs with 99% CPU.
Please note, that home-made library sometimes fails to close
connection to conserver propely, but server should not behave in such a way
if client failed to do the things properly.

home-made library is very simple: it connects, sends ^Ec;, logs all
incoming data, tries to send ^Ec., closes the socket.
I'm ready to provide any necessary information.

Alexandra.

Bug#331517: please update GNU/kFreeBSD patch

2005-11-18 Thread Robert Millan

Hi,

Since patch 001_gnu-kbsd.diff is disabled (because it didn't apply to 6.9.x
source), xorg-x11 fails to build on kfreebsd-i386:

http://experimental.ftbfs.de/fetch.php?pkg=xorg-x11ver=6.8.99.902.dfsg.1-1arch=kfreebsd-i386stamp=1132271429file=logas=raw

Fixing this is trivial, all you have to do is replacing 001_gnu-kbsd.diff with
the patch I sent to this bug (#331517), which is much smaller (2/3 hunks) and
should apply cleanly to 6.9.x source.

And then enabling it in debian/patches/series of course :).

Thank you!

It's correct that there are no .desktop files for echomixer,

Bug#339734: openssh-server: Kerberos tickets are not saved (pam_krb5)

2005-11-18 Thread marcus
Package: openssh-server
Version: 1:4.2p1-5
Severity: normal

I use OpenSSH with PAM authentication (UsePAM yes) and the pam_krb5
module. When I log in with SSH, the server correctly checks the
password agains Kerberos, but the ticket is not saved, so I have to do
kinit and authenticate again.

README.Debian mentions that Kerberos ticket saving does not work with
privilege separation. But I have UsePrivilegeSeparation no in
sshd_config, and it still doesn't work.

I seem to remember that turning off privilege separation used to work
with OpenSSH 3.x, but apparently this is no longer the case.

Bug#339735: [g-i] Support for multiple gtk themes

2005-11-18 Thread zinosat
Package: cdebconf-gtk-udeb
Severity: wishlist

Support for multiple themes, would make it possible for the installer
to handle various needs: for example it could be useful for visually
impaired people (i.e colour-blindness), that could select a theme
which makes use of the right colors.

A similar problem (with a patch) was raised for the newt
frontend (see #330418) but the fix was never applied AFAIK.

A particular theme could be selected at the boot prompt entering
something like gtk-theme-name=foo. ATM the default theme is held in
/etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc

Bug#339736: gnupg-agent: manpage for gpg-agent missing

2005-11-18 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
Package: gnupg-agent
Version: 1.9.15-6
Severity: normal

Hi!

I wanted to take a look at the documentation for gpg-agent, but didn't
find it. There were some strange things with this package though that I
noticed:

#v+
$ dpkg -L gnupg-agent
/.
/usr
/usr/bin
/usr/bin/gpg-agent
/usr/share
/usr/share/man
/usr/share/man/man1
/usr/share/doc
/usr/share/doc/gnupg-agent
/usr/share/doc/gnupg-agent/copyright
/usr/share/doc/gnupg-agent/changelog.gz
/usr/share/doc/gnupg-agent/changelog.Debian.gz
/usr/share/lintian
/usr/share/lintian/overrides
/usr/share/lintian/overrides/gnupg-agent
/etc
/etc/X11
/etc/X11/Xsession.d
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/90gpg-agent
#v-

It installs an empty man directory path three. I'm not sure if it was
only forgetten to install the manpage, or if it was forgetten to remove
usr/share/man/man1 from a debian/dirs file?

The overrides file speaks of something that lintian never can complain
about because that binary isn't part of the package. So is there more
issues with the packaging, or is there just no manpage available?

 So long,
Alfie

Hello,

mutt-ng (and mutt) has a nice (patched?) feature to do a correct List
reply even the mailbox is not defined as list or subscribe by looking
at relevant header vars.

On my backported mutt-ng on sarge there is a inconsistency when i use
the maildir header cache. As a example:

I delete the header cache for debian-user-german mailbox. Then i start
mutt-ng, go to this mailbox. Pressing L does a correct list reply to
the list. When now switch to a other list (or close muttng) and come back
(and the header cache does it work) then List reply (L) doesn't work
anymore, it says (similar): Not a mailing list.

This could be reproduced here. If i use mutt instead (which has the similar
feature) then it works, e.g. also if the mutt header cache would be
used.

I dont't see any parameter which will correct this behavior (only using
maildir_header_cache_verify=yes correct the error, but with this it's
obsolet to use a header cache). header_cache_compress is set to yes.

Greetings,
Gerhard

Bug#316925: Problem with package in experimental

2005-11-18 Thread Michael Biebl
reopen 316925
severity 316925 important

thanks

I tried the packages from experimental (Gnome 2.12/dbus-0.50/hal-0.5.4)
and got bitten by the same bug so I'm going to reopen it.
HAL doesn't detect if a medium/partition is mounted and so nautilus
doesn't update the mount status.

So I tried the source packages from experimental
(dbus-0.50-2/hal-0.5.5.1-1), compiled them in a pbuilder chroot and
installed them. This fixes the errors so I would suggest, that the
binary packages of hal/dbus in experimental should be updated as soon as
possible.

Cheers,
Michael

Yes. (Or it was then -- there seems to be an update to 2.3.6 now.)

There is quite a bit of code to handle TTLs for records fetched from
DNS in version 2.3.5. Don't they expire for you, either?

They were definitely not expiring on Fedora (after ~18 hours with
`positive-time-to-live hosts 3600' in nscd.conf). The cache files had
ancient modification times; I don't know whether that's an artefact of
the mmapping I see is used.

Sorry I can't check this on Debian, but it looks to me a risky option
to have on anyway.

Maybe right in theory but wrong in practice as QuantLib was _already blocked

I really think I will close this once the two dependents are uploaded.

Bug#339739: dbskkd-cdb cannot work correctly on 64bit system

2005-11-18 Thread Yasuhiro Hayase
Package: dbskkd-cdb
Version: 1:1.01-13
Severity: important
Tags: patch

In uint32.h, uint32 is defined as follows.
=
typedef unsigned long uint32;
=
But in many 64bit system (like amd64), long is 64bit integer.

And in dbskkd-cdb.c, the pointer to uint32 (defined as unsigned long) is
passed as a pointer to unsigned int.

=
  uint32 datalen;
...
  get_status = cdb_seek(jisho_fd, key, keylen, datalen);
=

In LP64 system, latter half of variable ``datalen'' will be not initialized.
So datalen may have very big value greater than 1UL32.

Bug#339740: major bug in debians mysqld on em64t

2005-11-18 Thread TJ
Package: mysql-server-5.0

I have a major bug with mysql-server-5.0 (both etch, 5.0.13rc-1
and sid, 5.0.15) on em64t (Quad Xeons) that either kills my app
with a various strange mysql errors, seg faults mysqld or mysqld
simple exits with no error logged at all =/

None of these problems happen with the Debian packages on a 32bit
systems or with MySQL's own community edition 64bit binaries on em64t.
So I am lead to believe the problem is just with Debians 64bit packages.
This includes source builds
(apt-get source ..;cd ...; dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot)
So maybe its to do with Debian build environment, options, patches, etc

I have written a version of flow-export that uses the prepared statement
API with bulk inserts to greatly improve its speed. It runs fine except
on my em64t box with debians mysql packages.

The data that is sent to the server is not what appears in the tables,
which appear to be junk memory values. It dies with various error messages,
most times after running a few iterations it gives:
mysql_stmt_execute(): Incorrect arguments to mysql_stmt_execute
even thought the MYSQL_STMT passed to is the same one last iteration.
mysqld itself sometimes seg faults

I have stripped down my app to just the mysql prep stmt code path to make
it stand alone so that it can be used as a test case. the test app does
not stop with an error or kill mysqld (if you want that increase the number of
iterations done and/or the size of the bulk insert) but the values that
appear in the table are not the ones sent.

I did originally posted this bug to MySQL, until I found that their binaries
work fine: http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=14988

Also I have a db with a number (~300+) large (~5-10GB) tables which I merge
using MyISAM_MERGE tables. When ever I change the UNION of these merge tables
using ALTER TABLE it tends to kill mysqld with no error logged mysqld just
disappears. This again is true just for debians 64bit packages, others are fine.

My installation:
Debian Linux amd64 etch (with bits from sid, eg mysql-server-5.0 5.0.15)
Quad 64bit Xeon em64t, 16GB RAM

Please ask if you need any more information.

Thank you

Thorben Jändling
/*
This is a version of the app I am working on that has been stripped
down to just the mysql prep stmt code path. Hence the code looks bizare,
since function calls and (if) branches have been removed or hard coded.

This app works fine on 32bit systems but for 64bit random numbers turn
up in the table.

To try, compile:
gcc -lmysqlclient -I/usr/include/mysql mysql-64bit-test.c -o mysql-64bit-test
and run:
./mysql-64bit-test

Here is the table schema, please also edit the DB_DEFAULT_* defines below.

Bug#339716: kbd-chooser: FTBFS (ppc64): Please support the ppc64 architecture

2005-11-18 Thread Andreas Jochens
On 05-Nov-18 14:26, Sven Luther wrote:
Yes, for the 'unstable' and 'etch' distributions this works with
  the '--arch ppc64' option:

  debootstrap --arch ppc64 sid ppc64.chroot \

How would that work, since debootstrap cannot run the postinst scripts (if
they call non-binary-all stuff that is), so i suppose there are some serious
restrictions on the --arch option ?

When a 64bit powerpc64 kernel is running, debootstrap can execute 64bit
ppc64 binaries inside the chroot without any problems.

Of course a 64bit kernel is necessary for this.

What if i want to cross instal from let's say x86 to powerpc64 ?

This is not possible. 'debootstrap' needs to be able to
execute native binaries inside the target chroot environment.

You can cross install from i386 to amd64 and vice versa if you run a
64bit amd64 kernel, and you can cross install from powerpc to ppc64 and
vice versa if you run a ppc64 kernel.

Andreas Jochens

Package: gnome-panel
Version: 2.10.2-1

I just upgraded from stable to testing.
While starting Gnome from gdm, Gnome hangs while initializing gnome-panel.

Error message in ~/.xsession-errors:

This error is repeated several times. There's the same error message
from Nautilus in ~/.xsession-errors.

Bug#339743: libevolution-cil: libevolution-dev build dependency needs a version

If mixed environments are not supported by Debian (stable plus
testing/unstable), please ignore this bug report andsorry for your time.

I had a little problem trying to build the package libevolution-cil with
the following command:

The build process ends like this:

the package does have a dependency for libevolution-dev, but it needs at
least version 2.2 to work. The file evolution-shell-2.2.pc only exists
in that particular version.

Bug#332942: kernel-image-2.6.8-2-386: fails to insert floppy.ko claiming io-port 0x03f2 in use

2005-11-18 Thread loos
Same problem here.
In fact port 03f2 is in use (sort of)
in floppy.c the kernel tries to allocate some data (4) starting in 03f2,
and the
 03f3-03f3 : pnp 00:07
is the culprit.

In the floppy.c just after the failed allocation is a whining about
ADAPTEC.

I use an ADAPTEC AHA-2940U SCSI adapter, perhaps there is some
relation ?

Michel.
