Bug#397556: debian installer

Machine: Desktop (ASUS P5W DH Deluxe motherboard)
Processor: Intel Core Duo
Memory: 4Go
Partitions: /, /var, /home and swap

Output of lspci -nn and lspci -vnn: Attached

Base System Installation Checklist:

Install tasks: [E]
Install boot loader:[E]
Overall install:[O]

Comments/Problems:

1) The installation was done on a local network, using a local mirror. The
access to the security updates mirror of
course failed after a lon timeout: The installer should NOT try to
access a distant host without explicitely
asking for it. In some cases, it even completely breaks the installation
process and the reboot is done without call to
the tasksel step (which would correctly work without the security updates
mirror).

2) Grub installation failed on this box. Lilo worked fine. Grub install finally
succeeded after the reboot.

3) Configuration for a standard user should be skipable.

Bug#387928: Problem located - on my system anyway

2006-11-08 Thread Joel

I have found the cause of the problem on my test install.
(I realise there are other issues involved for other people).

After the post install reboot, most of the system had modification
times 10 hours in the future. This means the cache files were always
outdated and were removed (at least until the clock caught up).

Sorry for any inconvienience.

Bug#397529: slib 3a4-3 broken under Scheme implemenations other than SCM

 scope of the 'begin'.

Yeah, I knew I was cheating. I didn't realize that it would break this
badly.

Moreover, this is an RC bug; I've upgraded it to serious.

At least in the case of SCM, particular SCM versions are rather closely
tied to corresponding SLIB versions (5e2 needs 3a3, 5e3 needs 3a4)
partly because SLIB 'require' support is integrated into SCM. You may
have noticed that Aubrey Jaffer has tended to release new versions of
both SCM and SLIB simultaneously for some time now. Other Schemes
should work with various SLIB versions.

I agree with your suggestion here; I'll upload a fix.

Again, the bug log keeps the original message, and the record of what
it did when it parsed the message. The only thing that isn't kept is
the output of parsing the entire message to control, because that can
affect multiple bugs, and generally isn't terribly informative anyway.

Pardon, I couldn't quite follow your second sentence above. Were you saying:

That certain output is not publicly recorded because...

1) ...KEEPING it might affect multiple bugs.

2) ...it's prior effect can occasionally be difficult to
   automatically categorize.

3) ...something else?

'1)' seems moot, since a web page copy of a sent email is not active
code, and once stored affects nothing but our eyeballs.

'2)' seems to support the opposite idea, since the larger the effect,
the more interesting and record worthy its cause.

As to whether a public html copy of a reopen confirmation email sent to
the reopener is tremendously informative, I agree it's not. The data
would only needed once in blue moon, but when needed could be a little
bit useful. It's like a 'typo' bug. Most of the time nothing very bad
happens if a typo remains, yet things are slightly better when it's
fixed.

One difference: for me, libc6 is slightly newer 2.3.6.ds1-8
Also, my CPU is an AMD: kernel version is 2.6.18-1-amd64
When I strace the same command, I get mmap (not mmap2) calls,
and I see no set_thread_area call here. But I believe those
differences are irrelevant.

What locale are you using?
Does it still fail if you run it like this:

Bug#351222: Confirm bug

2006-11-08 Thread A Mennucc
hi

some time after I posted that bug, after a major gnome upgrade in etch,
my gnome-session crashed and the session was lost ; I had to move away
my .gnome dir and create a whole new desktop; in that desktop
I did not put a drawer. Now I create a drawer; I will test it for some
days and let you know.

BTW: I saw a curious bug: when I created the drawer, I opened it, it
was empty, so I drag and drop two icons in it (using middle mouse
button): they disappeared. I destroyed that drawer and created a
second one: in the second one, drag-and-dropped icons do not
disappear.

Bug#393645: boo still/also fails to build on i386

2006-11-08 Thread Lucas Nussbaum
severity 393645 serious
thanks

Hi,

boo still fails to build as of 2006-11-07, despite the migration of nant
0.85-1 to testing.

I'm upgrading the severity of this bug to serious, since it fails to
build on both i386 and amd64, so it's very likely to fail to build
everywhere.

Bug#382458: Please change the default location of socket file.

Hello,

I think this bug should be of higher priority since it breaks the
transition from sarge to etch if any of installed services use the socket
file of slapd daemon.

Hi Frederic. we have now upgraded to X11R7.1, with the mouse driver at
1:1.1.1-3.

Do you find this new version has improved the situation with your serial
mouse or is it still as buggy as before?

Hi,

I updated my system to xserver-xorg 1:7.1.0-5 and
xserver-xorg-input-mouse 1:1.1.1-3.

The serial mouse runs perfectly, the bug is corrected. :o)

Bug#397147: About handling of bugs and changelog entries

2006-11-08 Thread Raphael Hertzog
Hello pkg-voip maintainers,

I'm a bit astonished on how the bugs 375141 and 397147 have been handled.
While recompiling the testing version of asterisk I discovered that I lost
ogg support because of the lack of build-depends so I start looking on the
bugs and find out #375141 which reports the problem.

This bug has been closed with this sentence:
- format_ogg_vorbis.so was present in i386, no longer in packages
 (Closes: #375141)

rant
Sorry this is NOT a changelog entry, we don't know why it's fixed and how
you fixed it or if you simply decided that Ogg support was not worth
having.

In the mean time the real bug is still here: i386 is the only arch with
OGG support because it's compiled by the maintainer on a system with
libvorbis-dev installed but the other archs don't have it and any custom
recompilation (like mine) may result in a binary without ogg support.

The bug is reported again with #397147 and this time the submitter was
skilled enough to point out to the real problem and the real fix got
integrated but the changelog entry is still as bad:
   [ Mark Purcell ]
   * asterisk-classic, asterisk-bristuff:
 /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/format_ogg_vorbis.so gone missing when
 rebuilt (Closes: #397147

You describe the problem but a changelog is here to describe the change and
in particular the fix made to correct the problem. This is very important if you
want to have good feedback from users/testers/bug reporters. I need to know
what changed by looking at the changelog so that I can check if the fix is
the one that I expected.
/rant

Please take some more care in the future, and many thanks for your work on
asterisk!

Cheers,

Well, it is a pity that we will no longer be able to resize partitions

temporary denial until someone has figured out what would need to be
changed to make the Vista boot working again.

Frans, how do you detect Vista? My idea is to check for the

it may not exist at all.

We currently check for the presence two files:

I could reproduce this build failure in a etch environment with version
1.0.6 (probably because GHC 6.4.2 now migrated to testing).

 Thus removing the sid tag.

Removing the tag is correct. Reopening the bug is *not*. This bug was
fixed in version 1.0.7, which is later than the version you were retesting
with. And in any case, version 1.0.8 is now in testing.

IF-MIB::ifInOctets and ifOutOctets do not increment except for lo or

This problem seems to manifest only over the wire.
Same problem is reported by several users of net-snmp 5.1.2 on x86_64

Correct output on localhost :

Bug#397576: Installation report - file mod times wrong

2006-11-08 Thread Joel

Package: installation-reports

Boot method: cd netinst image
Image version:
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/daily-builds/daily/arch-latest/i386/iso-cd/debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso
Date: 20061105 image

Machine:
Processor: Athlon
Memory: 512

Base System Installation Checklist:
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Initial boot: [O]
Detect network card:[O ]
Configure network: [O ]
Detect CD: [O ]
Load installer modules: [O ]
Detect hard drives: [O ]
Partition hard drives: [O ]
Install base system:[O ]
Clock/timezone setup: [E ]
User/password setup:[ O]
Install tasks: [O ]
Install boot loader:[O ]
Overall install:[ ]

Comments/Problems:

The file modification times were fine during the install, however
after rebooting, most of the system had modification times 10 hours in
the future.

The system clock is set to local time (checked in bios).
I chose the correct timezone in the installer and UTC was set to NO.

I have had this problem with installs from the di-beta3 cd and weekly
build (20061009).

The output of date was correct after reboot eg:

ls -l /
...
drwxr-xr-x 12 root root 4096 2006-11-09 01:38 usr
drwxr-xr-x 14 root root 4096 2006-11-09 01:45 var
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root24 2006-11-09 01:36 vmlinuz -
boot/vmlinuz-2.6.16-2-k7
navi:/# date
Wed Nov 8 15:53:04 EST 2006

This is a bit of a problem.

In the case of weekly(20061009) it prevents fc-cache -ffrom
running properly until 10 hours after the install (which prevents
ttf-opensymbol from installing, which prevents openoffice from
installing).

I assume the 10 hours is due to me being at GMT+10.

Bug#397578: sylpheed-claws-gtk2: exits on validating config dialog

2006-11-08 Thread Abderrahim Kitouni
Package: sylpheed-claws-gtk2
Version: 2.5.6-1
Severity: normal

Clicking ok on a dialog after selecting an item in a tree view or
a list causes sylpheed to crash with this error :

aborting...

to reproduce :
1) Configuration Plugins...
2) select a plugin in the list at right
3) click Close

I look like I'm explaining to someone who never touched a computer and
not to a DD :-p but I must explain the EXACT steps to reproduce ;-)

Anyway, it just crashes, there is no data loss (this also happens in

Bug#349256: Debian Bug Tracking System [EMAIL PROTECTED]

2006-11-08 Thread Frans Pop
You have followed up to an installation report that was already closed. In
that case it is better to submit a new report.

 Comments/Problems:

The last step kept repeating. It told me that I was done and the
computer will reboot over and over again.
Finally I had to do this myself...

I have no idea what you mean here exactly. I don't understand what the
exact problem is you see, and also not how you fixed it.
Please give us exact messages or errors you see on the screen. Otherwise
it is nearly impossible to identify the problem or to help.

Cheers,
FJP

Bug#397583: Please provide the Basque transitional package mozilla-firefox-locale-eu

2006-11-08 Thread Jordi Mallach
Package: mozilla-firefox-locale-all
Severity: important

Hello,

When the Basque langpack was added to mozilla-firefox-locale-all, only
firefox-locale-eu was created, leaving out mozilla-firefox-locale-eu,
which already existed in a separate source package.

This results in some cruft in the archive, as the old source package
still exists, while it only provides the transitional package.

Please upload a new version of mozilla-firefox-locale-all contaning the
transitional package so the old source and binary can go away
automatically.

Jordi

Bug#397581: Please allow for configuration of the step size in mixer and backlight settings

2006-11-08 Thread Wouter Verhelst
Package: pbbuttonsd
Version: 0.7.9-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

Since a while, I've been annoyed at the 10% step sizes used by
pbbuttonsd. They are way too large (on my powerbook, often I find that I
can't hear what's going on when sound is at 60%, while 70% is just too
loud to be comfortable); OTOH, I agree that using a 1% step size was too
small.

Now since very recently, backlight settings have also switched to 10%
steps. My powerbook has 15 brightness which I found convenient; and 10
does not map very well on 15. Unfortunately, I cannot go back to what I
find proper behaviour other than by using an older version of pbbuttons.

It would be great if pbbuttons would have a configuration item that
would allow me how finely-grained I can increase or decrease brightness
or volume.

Bug#349256: Debian Bug Tracking System [EMAIL PROTECTED]

2006-11-08 Thread Frank Schmaljohann
You have followed up to an installation report that was already closed. In
that case it is better to submit a new report.

I Am sorry, it was my first time ;-)

 Comments/Problems:

The last step kept repeating. It told me that I was done and the
computer will reboot over and over again.
Finally I had to do this myself...

I have no idea what you mean here exactly. I don't understand what the
exact problem is you see, and also not how you fixed it.
Please give us exact messages or errors you see on the screen. Otherwise
it is nearly impossible to identify the problem or to help.

 Cheers,
 FJP

Well I will try to explain it a little closer.
First of all I did an i386 installation afterwards and everything was
okay. The problem occured only using the amd64 dist.

On the screen it says:
Take out your cdrom and press on next to reboot the computer or
something like that.
Thats what I did. After that it spipped back to the last step and the
message appeared again. I was able to do that over and over again...

Bottomline: The computer did not restart and I had to do a reset. The
installation was fine.

Hope that did help.

mfg,
Frank

Bug#379628: [Linux-NTFS-Dev] CALL FOR HELP: Vista beta compatibility testing (was: Re: Bug#379628: ntfsresize: resizing a Vista NTFS partition leads to corrupted partition)

2006-11-08 Thread Szakacsits Szabolcs

Hi,

On Wed, 8 Nov 2006, Andree Leidenfrost wrote:

Thanks a lot for your response!

Thanks for yours too! :)

Ok, I've reinstalled and created a 10GB E: drive in Vista after that.
Surprisingly enough (at least to me), after reducing the size by 1MB
following your original instructions, Vista does not boot anymore
 either. :-(

Interesting. I guess you've seen no error messages?

We also shouldn't forget that this was an older beta release, so Vista bugs
are expected. It would be nice to reproduce it on the latest Vista too.
Unfortunately nobody could do it so far (that is no feedback).

As a Debian developer, i.e. looking at things from a distribution angle,

As an all time Linux developer, I'm looking at things from all distributions
angle ;) I wrote ntfsresize for the purpose to be used in the Linux
installers. I never used Windows myself. I do understand your problem ;)

I am somewhat more concerned: Installing Linux on a PC should be as easy
as possible. To this date, ntfsresize has done an excellent job in
resizing an NTFS partition 'on the fly' as part of the Linux
 installation process.

The problem is that Parted still has problems with editing the partition
table. Corruptions still happen __sometimes__ in a way that Windows won't be
able to boot. Not even when it's reinstalled (the Windows install respects
the partition table, so it won't fix it). The Parted code is widely used in
QTParted (unmaintained for years), GParted and several other partitioners.
It keeps corrupting but isn't getting fixed. Very bad.

Another problem is GRUB. It also tends to make Windows unbootable
__sometimes__. GRUB seems to be also unmaintained for quite some time.

So this repartitioning approach doesn't seem to work reliable,
unfortunately.

An alternative could be if users would install Linux straight to NTFS.
Thus the unreliable partitioning (and hopefully the bootloader) could be
eliminated completely. As an extra bonus, users would even have full
read-write access to their Linux data, without any additional setup.

Though this still needs some work on the NTFS side.

It would be really sad to not have this functionality anymore.

I think this would be the correct way to proceed:

1) reproduce the problem with the latest Vista Beta (afaik, RC2)

2) submit a bug report to Microsoft and ask for answer and
   workaround until they fix it

3) if Microsoft ignores or refuses the problem then make it a
legal cases against them as anti-competitive practices.

4) try to find a solution until 3) settles down.

Best regards,

Szaka

Sounds like this is a known kernel issue and not something we can fix in
the installer. If you want to follow up on this, please check for
existing bug reports against the kernel or file a new one.
Or possibly even better, check if the bug is already known with the
upstream kernel developers.

Closing your report as the installation was successful.

/usr/include/iproute/ip_common.h references unknown symbols RTA_TABLE
and RTA_DATA, which prevents it from being used in other projects.

Looks like it happened as a result of making rtm_get_table function inline.

best is when you use reportbug which will insert that for you..

Whether I create a dBASE table (.dbf file) with an old version of dBASE,

out of curiosity, which version?

export it from Calc or Excel, or whatever, neither Calc nor Base can
read it. However, dBASE and Excel can read it. I can also read the
tables from OpenOffce v2 on a Windows XP (32 bit) machine. The problem
is strictly with the table reading, not the writing.

And with 2.0.4-5 on i386?

Bug#396304: libruby1.8: this is a problem of apt-listbugs, not only a libruby problem

2006-11-08 Thread Bodo Meissner
Package: libruby1.8
Followup-For: Bug #396304

I think this bug is still related to apt-listbugs.
The soap_use_proxy variable is an interface of a library used internally.
apt-listbugs does not _have_to_ expose this interface to the user.
apt-listbugs even sets or deletes this variable in some cases depending on
the settings in apt.conf. This behaviour is inconsistent.

IMHO apt-listbugs should behave like other APT tools.
The manpage of apt.conf states
   http
HTTP URIs; http::Proxy is the default http proxy to use. It is in
the standard form of http://[[user][:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:port]/. Per
host
proxies can also be specified by using the form http::Proxy::host
with the special keyword DIRECT meaning to use no proxies. The
http_proxy environment variable will override all settings.

So it's expected behaviour that variable http_proxy will be used without
any questions or complaints from the programs.

I'm aware of two possible security risks: The first is the use of
user:password in the proxy URL. This is no problem if http_proxy does not
contain a password. The second is the risk to unexpectedly override the
settings from apt.conf with an untrusted proxy. I think this should be
solved by a common solution for all apt related programs. Using a wrong
proxy to list bug reports is a small problem compared to using this proxy
to download packages.
Please point me to an explanation if there is another security risk.

Maybe we need a setting in apt.conf that tells APT to ignore http_proxy
and use the settings from apt.conf only. This should apply to apt-listbugs
as well. (like wget's --no-proxy option)

I have the proxy setting in apt.conf, so aptitude and apt-listbugs work
as expected if I dont have http_proxy set.
But there are other programs that need the http_proxy environment variable.
When I set this variable (in my case to the same proxy as in apt.conf)
aptitude and apt-listchanges still work but apt-listbugs complains about
the missing soap_use_proxy variable.

If you like the idea of the soap_use_proxy variable, I propose to use
a setting in apt.conf or a variable specific to apt-listbugs, to select
from these possibilities:
- use http_proxy (and set soap_use_proxy internally)
- complain if http_proxy is set
- complain if http_proxy is set and differs from the apt.conf setting
  (else set soap_use_proxy internally)
- ignore http_proxy and use the setting from apt.conf (and set or remove
http_proxy and soap_use_proxy internally as required)

If you still get the crash, can you please valgrind it? You might want
to rebuild libxklavier with debugging symbols.

Unfortunately, there are some problems with this:

1) It's a production system that I can't use much for debugging
2) It's quite restricted in resources (X server in a small LTSP terminal)
3) It's distributed: The libxklavier under consideration runs on an up
to date sid machine while the X server is an older Xorg 6.7 from LTSP on
a really small device without valgrind. A colleague of mine says this is
related to
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=1421948group_id=319atid=200319
but I didn't have time to investigate the lengthy referenced

Subject: problems linking with -lfl option

I have the following file:

just a simple example... if I do

 flex file.l; gcc lex.yy.c

everything is ok, but if i remove the

 %option noyywrap

directive, and do

 flex file.l; gcc -lfl lex.yy.c

I get these errors:

Bug#397592: document max. length of boot parameters

2006-11-08 Thread russell muetzelfeldt

Package: debian-installer-manual

Section B.2.2 (Using boot parameters to supplement preseeding) notes
that current kernels can accept a maximum of 32 command line options,
but says nothing about a maximum number of characters on the kernel
command line.

There appears to be a 255 character maximum for parameters, after
which the kernel command line is silently truncated. I have no idea
if this is a limitation of the kernel, or of grub, but it should
probably be noted along with the 32 parameter limit.

This is fixed by adding a build-dependency on libxt-dev. (Lack of libxt-dev
causes X detection to fail, which results in broken CFLAGS options being

# otherwise icons langs are not found.

* removed `cd /usr/share/tuxguitar' which I didn't like anyway (the

* changed $* to $@ for better quoting results (e.g. in files)

Bug#394097: libapache2-mod-auth-pam: doesnt work with Apache 2.1

As I understand the documentation this is the expected behaviour, as
libapache2-auth-pam does not include an Apache2.2-style authn provider.

I only wonder how you still have it working... :-)

Well, it is a pity that we will no longer be able to resize partitions
from within the Debian installer. However, I guess that this will be a
temporary denial until someone has figured out what would need to be
changed to make the Vista boot working again.

Yes. Microsoft could, well, should answer this, unless they fix or
already fixed their boot process.

Frans, how do you detect Vista? My idea is to check for the
transactional directory. However this won't be enabled by default, so
it may not exist at all.

We currently check for the presence two files:
 /bootmgr and /Boot/BCD

I'm afraid this is not ok for data partitions, which seemingly also have the
same problem. I suppose data partitions don't have the above two files, do
they?

Bug#383738: ppscsi-source: Patch for this and new 2.6.18 problem

2006-11-08 Thread Bas Wijnen
tags 383738 +patch
thanks

Hi,

First I ran into a problem that scsi_request is no longer available in 2.6.18.
Fortunately it isn't used in the module, so just removing types from the
header files fixed that.

Than I ran into the problem of this bug, so I patched that as well. Attached
is the resulting .tar.bz2 file, which works when it is put in /usr/src. The
package source looked a bit too complicated to see at a glance where to change
it, but I suppose that should be easy for the maintainer. The changes I made
are in
modules/ppscsi/{scsi,scsi_typedefs,ppscsi}.h
(which can of course be easily seen with diff -urp on the unpacked original
and modified tarballs.)

Thanks,
Bas

Zope has an extensible, object oriented structure that allows you to easily add extra components (products) or features. Each product or feature can usually be found in packages whose name starts with `zope-' prefix. Unfortunately, Zope needs to restart to use any new add-on. Here you can choose a common way to restart Zope:\n

Bug#387658: bittornado: Still affects non-curses btlaunchmany

2006-11-08 Thread Javier Kohen
Package: bittornado
Version: 0.3.15-4
Followup-For: Bug #387658

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

This bug seems to be affecting the non-curses version of btlaunchmany (i.e.
/usr/bin/btlaunchmany). The only way to exit this application seems to be a
SIGTERM, which apparently doesn't let the shutdown call be reached.

I don't use the curses version, as the whole point for me of using bittornado
is that I can leave it running unattended on a headless server.

Unfortunately I'm not versed in Python system programming to the level where I
can suggest a solution or supply a patch. Maybe it can trap the signal and
start a clean cleanup?

thanks for maintaining mysql.

This one is weird, but I can regularly reproduce it in my machine.

Here is how:

 1. Create the database test, on InnoDB
 2. zcat intial-build.gz | mysql test
 3. mysql test
 4. SELECT pa.lat, pa.lon, pa.ident, c.ltype, c.l1, c.l2, c.ptype, c.p1, c.p2,

c.datetime, c.ltype, c.l1, c.l2, c.ptype, c.p1, c.p2;
will return an empty result
 5. SELECT pa.lat, pa.lon, pa.ident, c.ltype, c.l1, c.l2, c.ptype, c.p1, c.p2,

c.id_report=1 AND c.datetime='1001-01-01 00:00:00';
will return a non-empty result
 6. mysqldump test /tmp/dump
 7. mysql test /tmp/dump
 8. SELECT pa.lat, pa.lon, pa.ident, c.ltype, c.l1, c.l2, c.ptype, c.p1, c.p2,

Bug#397604: freemind: FTBFS: should use the sun-java5-* packages instead of j2sdk1.4

2006-11-08 Thread Lucas Nussbaum
Package: freemind
Version: 0.7.1-6
Severity: important
Usertags: grid5000

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in etch, I discovered that your package
failed to build on i386.

It is using a build-dependency on j2sdk1.4, which could probably be
replaced by one on sun-java5-jdk. It would allow the package to build
without requiring non-packaged software.

About the archive rebuilt: The rebuilt was done on about 30 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a chroot containing an etch i386
environment (not unstable). Internet was not accessible from the build

Bug#397603: cyrus-sasl2: FTBFS on amd64 (PIC linking issue)

2006-11-08 Thread Fabian Fagerholm
Package: cyrus-sasl2

Bug#397602: fop: FTBFS: should use the sun-java5-* packages instead of j2sdk1.4

2006-11-08 Thread Lucas Nussbaum
Package: fop
Version: 1:0.20.5-8
Severity: important
Usertags: grid5000

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in etch, I discovered that your package
failed to build on i386.

It is using a build-dependency on j2sdk1.4, which could probably be
replaced by one on sun-java5-jdk. It would allow the package to build
without requiring non-packaged software.

About the archive rebuilt: The rebuilt was done on about 30 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a chroot containing an etch i386
environment (not unstable). Internet was not accessible from the build
nodes. The builds were processed as root, in a clean chroot environment.

About Grid'5000:
The Grid'5000 project aims at building a highly reconfigurable
experimental Grid platform gathering 9 sites and featuring a total of
5000 CPUs. Its main purpose is to serve as an experimental testbed for
research in Grid Computing. To learn more about Grid'5000, read

Bug#356853: License of your contribution to the ae package

2006-11-08 Thread Florent Rougon
Hi,

Rolf Niepraschk [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

My account has been changed: [EMAIL PROTECTED] It would be nice if
you can change this also in ae.sty.

This address is the one I tried previously. So, you mean we should use
the @gmx.de one instead, right?

From a pratical point of view, I think I'll put your name and that of
Gilbert Ritschard in the Copyright line of ae.sty (as hinted by ae's
README), and will inlude the names along with the email addresses in an
AUTHORS file, so that there is only one place to update when an email
address changes.

Of course you can change it. All my packages have LPPL license.

Great, thank you very much. We now have the permission from all
copyright holders I could identify for ae. :-)

When I have some time, I'll submit an updated package to Lars with the
LPPL license applied to all files, which he can review and upload to
CTAN.

Thanks to all who made this possible.

Bug#397608: gabber: really suitable for a release ?

2006-11-08 Thread Lucas Nussbaum
Package: gabber
Version: 0.8.8-7
Severity: serious

Hi,

Gabber is unmaintained upstream since 2003, and many other good
alternatives exist (gossip for the lightweight gnome client, gajim for
the feature complete gnome client) and are packaged in Debian. Do we
really want to release with gabber ?

Not to mention that it has 1 serious and 5 important bugs, not counting
this one.

Because this was never a bug in fextremes, it was a bug in the build

The cause is apparently that autotools creates non-PIC static libraries which
are then used to create a PIC shared library, which doesn't work on hppa.

Ah, interesting. It's texlive-latex-recommended that Recommends:
 latex-beamer.

One part of the fix is going to be:

Wait a second. IIRC moving beamer from texlive-latex-extra to
texlive-latex-recommended was part of the TPM reorganisation done some
time ago. It simply does not make sense to have the (old) prosper in
texlive-latex-recommended while the currently used beamer or powerdot

Bug#147416: The program will begin

2006-11-08 Thread Admissions Office
Earlier this year we wrote to you about our Knowledge Based Degree Program

We thought we would follow up and see if there is any reason why you have not
called our registrars office. Most people don't realize that these degrees are
completely valid, and only our staff and yourself know that they are based on
