This will break if you had modifications to the clean parts of the build system. You don't do that here, but I'm mentioning it just in case. I didn't change this, since I'll ask upstream to fix problems in the clean parts of the build system. The lua change is just needed because it's debian specific. It's not that simple as about 100 source packages rely on the csc command provided by the mono-devel package. We are planning to make another transition along with new -dev packages that will need build-dependency changes too. Therefor the new GtkSourceCompletion hosting is in: http://github.com/chuchiperriman/gtksourcecompletion And there is a new release, the 0.7.0. Vtg is using this version and the new release of vtg depends on Gsc 0.7.0. The new version of vtg will be released this week. Thanks for those informations. I was indeed discovering the vtg dependencies while packaging it. So we should wait until gsc is merge in gsv? And then there will be a vtg release. Is that correct? Bug#441950: mutt wish: send_charset default us-ascii:utf-8
Hi, The arguments against utf-8 are ridiculous in this buglog. for example the claim that utf-8 on mail causes problems for some rare configurations: looking at a random non-debian mailing list: grep charset qemu|grep -ci us-ascii 2733 grep charset qemu|grep -ci ISO-8859-1 4098 grep charset qemu|grep -ci utf-8 4471 Well, welcome to 2009 mr rare configuration, there is a big percentage of messages you can't read. Particularry you will have problems reading any mails from thunderbird and gmail users, it seems. Furthermore defaults must be engineered for newbies. Newbies don't have emotional attachment to legacy charsets (or even know what a charset is). They just want to things to work, and if everything were utf-8, things would work better. A practical example would be a newbie doing a copy-paste from a thunderbird raw message view to another application. Us old farts OTOH know perfectly well howto change back sending legacy charsets if we feel like that. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#525910: cups fails to print with 400 Bad Request -- ServerName, ServerAlias
Package: cups Version: 1.3.10-1 Severity: normal Hello, I've been getting 400 Bad Request errors on CUPS clients and in the CUPS log file (after enabling debug-level logging). I think the problem is this: cupsdNetIFUpdate: eth0 = hostname.domainname.local:631 Given an entry of... 192.168.196.7 hostname.domainname.local hostname and a cupsd.conf ServerName of... ServerName hostname Listen 631 CUPS ties to 192.168.196.7 and hostname hostname.domainname.local, subsequently refusing non-FQDN hostname in Host: headers. I think this must have popped up in the most recent update. I also think that it's a bug. If ServerName is hostname (and this address resolves), CUPS should accept print jobs with that Host: header and not expect the FQDN hostname (which is usually made-up on local subnets anyway). It is absurd for CUPS not to accept print jobs to its own ServerName. Setting ServerAlias * gets CUPS printing again (presumably because it now accepts the mere hostname); so does removing hostname.domainname.local from /etc/hosts and just using the hostname without domainname. In short, CUPS shouldn't require the FQDN to be used, especially if the ServerName is the non-FQDN; or it should perhaps create an automatic alias with both the FQDN and non-FQDN variant. Bug#268631: force preference of IPv4 over IPv6
There are excellent reasons why IPv6 is preferred to IPv4 by default, and this is not going to change. I'm very interested in this! What are the reasons? The basic idea is that we want to make sure that either there's no IPv6 at all, or IPv6 works fine. This is important, since it's easy to write software that detects and works around the lack of IPv6, but it's next to impossible to write software that will reliably detect broken IPv6. By preferring IPv6 to IPv4, we make sure that broken IPv6 is something that people notice, and hence we have a good chance that there won't be to many broken IPv6 deployments. If IPv4 were preferred to IPv6, then people could add RAs to their network even though their IPv6 routing is broken -- most clients wouldn't notice, they'd just continue using IPv4. Now your particular deployment of IPv6 doesn't fit the ``IPv6 at least as good as IPv4'' model that we are promoting; hence, you need to hack your gai.conf files. Which is fine -- what you do on your private network is your private business. What is not okay is suggesting that Debian change the default, and break a deployment model that the networking community has agreed on -- if you don't agree with a stan- dard, you work on getting it revised, you don't just change your distribution unilaterally. By the way, this is a somewhat unsatisfactory solution: manually hacking /etc/gai.conf doesn't scale. The networking community is aware of that, and are working on a solution -- see RFC 5220 and 5221. Bug#525915: libglib2.0-0: please support a --disable-visibility flavour
Package: libglib2.0-0 Version: 2.20.1-1 Severity: wishlist refdbg[0] fails to work with the library in libglib2.0-0 as it was built with --enable-visibility. This is clearly what GLib apps should be using, but it would be cool if another refdbg-specific package was made available which was built with --disable-visibility. I asked about this on #gnome-debian: 21:18 jonnylamb So, refdbg is rather annoying to use because you have to build your own glib. Might the glib maintainers consider building glib twice: once with --disable-visibility so it can be used with refdbg with the help of LD_PRELOAD? 21:23 @Np237 jonnylamb: that requires a new flavor and a new binary package 21:23 jonnylamb Yes. 21:24 @Np237 feasible, but it would be nice if you could provide a patch 21:24 @Np237 as you seem better suited to be able to test it 21:24 jonnylamb Right. I'm willing to write a patch if there's a possibility of it getting accepted. 21:25 @Np237 if it’s just a new flavor that ships files in a special directory for LD_PRELOAD, in a special package, I’m fine with that 21:26 @Np237 that could even be used as a dependency for a refdbg package which would use it automatically 21:26 jonnylamb Right. Just what I had in mind. 21:27 @Np237 you can ask lool or slomo to see if they have any objections, but I doubt that 21:27 jonnylamb lool: ^ I'm working on a patch. 0. http://refdbg.sourceforge.net/ -- Jonny Lamb, UK jo...@debian.org -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#525920: O: xcftools -- command-line tools for extracting data for XCF files
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I am orphaning the xcftools package, due to lack of time on my part. I'm the upstream author of xcftools, but no development has happened since 2006. The program already does what it is supposed to and has no known bugs. Package description: This is a set of fast command-line tools for extracting information from the Gimp's native file format XCF. The tools are designed to allow efficient use of layered XCF files as sources in a build system that use 'make' and similar tools to manage automatic processing of the graphics. These tools work independently of the Gimp engine and do not require the Gimp to even be installed. xcf2pnm converts XCF files to ppm, pgm or pbm format, flattening layers if necessary. If the image contains transparency, an alpha map can be written to a separate file, or a background color can be specified on the command line. xcf2png converts XCF files to PNG format, flattening layers if necessary. Transparency information can be kept in the image, or a background color can be specified on the command line. xcfinfo lists information about layers in an XCF file. xcfview is a wrapper script that flattens an XCF image and displays it using an external PNG/PPM viewer. To use this script, you must make sure also to install an appropriate external viewer, as well as the mime-support package which provides the mailcap database. The tools can either flatten an XCF file as given, or extract specific layers named on the command line. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#525669: Font rendering in Qt 4.5
Hi! Thanks for your quick response! Am Sonntag, 26. April 2009 schrieb Fathi Boudra: Some changes affects Qt 4.5.1 font rendering: (...) Yes, thanks. I had a look into QTs changelog before posting, but could not pinpoint the change which caused the change. It doesn't really matter anyway, as the web link you posted and the original page I mentioned in my bug report show solutions which solve the display problem. It took some time to google the solution, however, and I guess many users - not knowing anything about libfontconfig or even its existence - will not be able to use the information on these pages at all. That's why I suggested to add an explanation and some easily activatable config file snipped to the QT package's docs, and maybe already install an appropriate file in /etc/fonts/conf.avail/ with an explanation in the README of how to link it to conf.d. I'd even vote for this configuration to be default, as I wrote, but I understand that there might be people who actually prefer the significantly more blurred non-legacy font rendering. (Though I wonder why, as I do not see the point in smoothing exactly vertical or horizontal lines which will never look yagged by definition...) Bug#525917: tin incorrectly reports posting is not allowed
this is due giganews not announcing reader, mode-reader or post (and till two weeks ago not even which auth methods are available) _before_ autheticating. this has been discussed in news.software.readers and IMHO is a missinterpretation of RFC 3977 on the giganews side, but I have fixed tins source to try auth if only auth is advertized (this is what giganews now sends). IOW there is a workaround in the next snapshot/minor release even if this giganews fault. I reported the no-auth thing to them. Their first level support drone never bothered to actually read my reports or understand the network traces I sent, and kept sending me reboot, fix firewall idiocy. But they did change the capabilities they were announcing at that point. Posting did work in the past. I haven't kept track of client and gn server behavior in enough detail to report the details, but refused posting after auth (which I force with -A on all sessions) is new in the last week or so. A workaround is welcome news. De -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Inthat case, we should close this bug I guess. regards, -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#525775: Fix committed
tags 525775 pending thanks We've taken a look, and decided we still want to package only one renderer (multiple renderers means multiple dependencies means suck). However, you're right about the GtkHtml renderer being crap, as evidenced by http://launchpadlibrarian.net/26021137/monodoc.png As a result, we've decided to switch from GtkHtml-only to WebKit-only. Testing doesn't show any obvious regressions compared to GtkHtml. Mono.WebBrowser seems enormously unstable (I was able to lock up monodoc-browser multiple times), and we want to avoid Gecko# given the trouble an ABI/API change caused us LAST time the Gecko folks did something exciting (hence Gecko# has been removed from Debian). A simple fix has been submitted to Debian Mono Group SVN, and will form part of the next package upload, whenever that may be. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

Bug#525915: Patch
tags 525915 + patch kthxbye So, I've attached an initial patch to add this package. The patch adds the following lintian error: E: libglib2.0-0-refdbg: unstripped-binary-or-object ./usr/lib/refdbg/libgobject-2.0.so.0.2000.1 I guess we should override it, right? The other thing I'm not sure about is the package name. Perhaps it shouldn't be tied to refdbg so much, and be called visibility, or something like that? refdbg 0.12 out of the box with the addition of LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/refdbg:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH works fine with this package. I've ITPd refdbg in #525937. Comments? -- Jonny Lamb, UK jo...@debian.org -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
