Bug#552292: icewm: IceWM replaces the icons of some applications by default app icon

I think that icewm doesn't properly recognize 64x64 icons and possibly other sizes. Bug#552518: libc6: ldd arbitrary code execution vulnerability
package: eglibc version: 2.10.1-2 severity: important tags: security it has been disclosed that it is possible to execute arbitrary code via ldd. this is a pretty obscure attack vector since it requires the user to run ldd on an untrusted executable. while unlikely (since users using ldd should be reasonably intelligent), it is very much possible, so a fix should be made. see [0] for more details. i don't think that this is severe enough to warrant a DSA. if you would like to fix the problem in the stable releases, please coordinate with the release team. mike [0] http://www.catonmat.net/blog/ldd-arbitrary-code-execution -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Ben Hutchings b...@decadent.org.uk writes: If it's a lot of trouble for you to do that then perhaps it's not worth doing until we've investigated a bit further. I have outfitted our test server with 8GB of memory. I'm going to let it sit idle with 2.6.26-2-686-bigmem just to see whether it shows the stuck CPU syndrome. If it does, I'll install 2.6.30 from squeeze. Can you tell me anything about the workload of these systems, e.g. are they running an NFS server, database server, web server...? Do they have heavy disk I/O, network I/O, task load or swap usage? The two machines are general purpose compute servers and NX servers. People log in to run their KDE desktop and do whatever it is that they need to do. The machines are big NFS clients, but they run no special services. Local disk activity is minimal, and with 28GB of RAM the swap has never been used so far. So, network activity is higher than a typical workstation, but the average sustained rate is not that high. There usually are over a thousand concurrent processes running. In fact, after further investigation, it looks quite plausible that this bug is related to long idle periods. I found some bug fixes made in Linux 2.6.27 that may address this. This would make sense, because, we saw more of this bug before we announced the servers to our users, and they (the servers) just sat idle. Bug#550892: libpam-mount: mounts/unmounts defined mounts when first mounted
Hi, Am Dienstag, 13. Oktober 2009 23:18:24 schrieb Simon Raven: Once one of the defined mounts is mounted, it continually unmounts it, and mounts it again, in a cycle like that, all the time - literally. Day or night, whether it's busy or not, it'll unmount it, then re-mount it a bit later. This has been going on since the last upgrade to the package. There is no code in pam_mount that mounts and unmounts in a cycle. Please turn on debugging in /etc/security/pam_mount.conf.xml and have a look in the system log (var/log/syslog for example) to see which process is causing these mounts. You should also use 'ps aufwwx' to find which process are running. Please mail the system log output and the output of the above ps command to cal...@debian.org if you need more assistance. Bug#316932: New apcupsd snmplite driver eliminates need for net-snmp library
On the apcupsd side I've recently undertaken to solve the net-snmp issue by writing a new SNMP module that does not require net-snmp at all. For details, see the release announcement here: http://www.nabble.com/New-SNMP-driver-%28testers-needed%29-td26051600.html All major features are implemented now, including killpower, trap catching, and commlost detection/recovery (they were not ready at the time of the announcement). Also fixes RT #69973, which was a segfault which was exposed by 8902bb05, see the ticket for further details. http://rt.perl.org/rt3//Public/Bug/Display.html?id=69973 At the code of this is the problem that in unicode matching a bunch of code points have case folding rules beyond just A-Z/a-z. Since the case folding rules are decided at runtime by the string, we cant use the same TRIE tables for both unicode/non-unicode matching. Until this is reconciled or some other solution is found case insensitive matching only gets the TRIE optimisation when the pattern is uniocde. Bug#543016: Bug#518742: avr toolchain FTBFS
Hi, I'm working on it. Bug#550892: libpam-mount: mounts/unmounts defined mounts when first mounted
2009/10/26 Bastian Kleineidam cal...@debian.org: Hi, Am Dienstag, 13. Thanks, Bastian Must be hal then, or some other thing. Nothing in either the server or the client logs about what did it, obviously it would be on the client, but that's no help, as there's no trace of it in the log. I'll stick some ps auxw command in my .zlogin so i can see what processes get run at the time, maybe on a for loop. obviously to get a process table dump after the fact is pointless. OK, well, I've done that now, and I'm not seeing anything that could cause it. pam-mount works fine... what's more relevant is this IMO: That's me mounting /A to /D, then something else unmounting: = Oct 27 02:10:10 pylon mountd[x]: authenticated mount request from 192.168.yyy.zzz:861 for /A (/A) Oct 27 02:10:11 pylon mountd[x]: authenticated mount request from 192.168.yyy.zzz:868 for /B (/B) Oct 27 02:10:11 pylon mountd[x]: authenticated mount request from 192.168.yyy.zzz:787 for /C (/C) Oct 27 02:10:11 pylon mountd[x]: authenticated mount request from 192.168.yyy.zzz:1002 for /D (/D) Oct 27 02:10:17 pylon mountd[x]: authenticated unmount request from 192.168.yyy.zzz:644 for /D (/D) Oct 27 02:10:19 pylon mountd[x]: authenticated unmount request from 192.168.yyy.zzz:706 for /C (/C) Oct 27 02:10:31 pylon mountd[x]: authenticated unmount request from 192.168.yyy.zzz:779 for /B (/B) Oct 27 02:10:32 pylon mountd[x]: authenticated unmount request from 192.168.yyy.zzz:797 for /A (/A) = that's from the server... so it gets a request to unmount them as soon as they get mounted. Right now I'm running gnome. Normally I'm running xfce or openbox. Gonna try in one of my other session types, see if it's some stupid gui thing causing it or not (I'm think it is). I'll send an update your way (and the BTS) when I have more info. Waaah! Now it did it again. pam-mount sees it unmounted, so mounts them, then whatever sees them mounted, unmounts them. From the maxima help: Function: log (x) Represents the natural (base e) logarithm of x. Maxima does not have a built-in function for the base 10 logarithm or other bases. log10(x) := log(x) / log(10) is a useful definition. The definition ln(x) has never existed in Maxima. This is not a wxmaxima or maxima problem. This should not block the upgrade to maxima 5.19.2 If you do: wxplot2d(log(x),[x,0,50]); you get no errors. Andres

Bug#551311: [buildd-tools-devel] Bug#551311: Updated patches for debuild like functionality in sbuild.
On Friday 23 October 2009 19:23:59 Andres Mejia wrote: Here are a new set of patches for some debuild like functionality implemented directly in sbuild. Details of what's new is in the patch for the man page but in short, sbuild would now be able to build from a Debianized source package, run lintian after a build, and run external commands before and after a build. With this, the sbuild-debuild script and manpage can be removed. Something I forgot to include was cleaning the source directory before building the source packages. Here's a patch that fixes that. -- Regards, Andres From 1b875836e8359de142b710fa4c39e65da57c9c16 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Andres Mejia mcita...@gmail.com Date: Tue, 27 Oct 2009 01:17:37 -0400 Subject: [PATCH 7/7] Clean the source dir before building a the source packages. --- lib/Sbuild/Build.pm | 16 ++-- 1 files changed, 10 insertions(+), 6 deletions(-) diff --git a/lib/Sbuild/Build.pm b/lib/Sbuild/Build.pm index f6822c5..889185e 100644 --- a/lib/Sbuild/Build.pm +++ b/lib/Sbuild/Build.pm @@ -256,15 +256,19 @@ sub run { # Build the source package if given a Debianized source directory if ($self-get('Debian Source Dir')) { $self-log_subsection(Build Source Package); + my $clean_command = $self-get_conf('FAKEROOT') . debian/rules clean; my $dpkg_source = $self-get_conf('DPKG_SOURCE'); - my $command = $dpkg_source -b; - $command .= . $self-get_conf('DPKG_SOURCE_OPT') + my $dpkg_source_command = $dpkg_source -b; + $dpkg_source_command .= . $self-get_conf('DPKG_SOURCE_OPT') if ($self-get_conf('DPKG_SOURCE_OPT')); - $command .= . $self-get('Debian Source Dir'); - $self-log_subsubsection($command); - my $curdir = getcwd(); # In case we're inside the source dir + $dpkg_source_command .= . $self-get('Debian Source Dir'); + my $curdir = getcwd(); # To get back to the directory we were in + chdir($self-get('Debian Source Dir')); + $self-log_subsubsection($clean_command); + $self-run_command($clean_command, 1, 1); chdir($self-get_conf('BUILD_DIR')); - $self-run_command($command, 1, 1); + $self-log_subsubsection($dpkg_source_command); + $self-run_command($dpkg_source_command, 1, 1); chdir($curdir); } -- 1.6.5

Bug#552546: base: bash/m4 buggy in squeeze
Package: base Severity: important I just upgraded to squeeze amd64 from lenny. I tried to rebuild my v3c package http://sourceforge.net/projects/v3c/ but I'm getting strange errors that I didn't get on lenny. 1. bash seems to have undergone a semantics change - code that worked in Lenny now doesn't. In the fn script I had to change if ! which libtoolize /dev/null ; then ... fi to libtool --version /dev/null || { ... } because bash is executing it in a different way than before. 2. m4 doesn't process like it used to (this could be a bash bug too) aclocal configure.ac:72: error: AC_SUBST: `DX_DONTJOIN(DX_FLAG_,DX_CURRENT_FEATURE)' is not a valid shell variable name Obviously bash/m4 are working, otherwise I wouldn't be ablt to get this far. Mikko, Thank you for the bug report. mp3split, vorbis-tools, flac, faad and lame are not needed to stream music. These packages are *only* needed for transcoding/downsampling. They are not needed to stream mp3's, flac, or oggs from a default installation of Ampache. I consider the use of the transcoding/downsampling feature part of a custom installation and I consider it the responsibility of the user/system admin to learn about, install, and configure the above mentioned packages. Everything below line 480 in ampache.cfg.php are optional features for the user to use and are not active in the default installation. Please have a look at http://ampache.org/wiki/config:transcode if you are having trouble getting transcoding/downsampling working. I am usually on IRC freenode #ampache (porthose). Bug#545832: closed by A Mennucc mennu...@debian.org (Re: Bug#545832: debdelta: xdelta3 should be a dependency)
Hi A. On Tuesday 27 Oct 2009 12:48:21 Debian Bug Tracking System wrote: xdelta3 is in the list of recommends Many users still use apt-get. So, it would be good to keep apt-get from Dependency point of view. when creating deltas, you can choose the --delta-algo, and the default is not xdelta3, it is bsdiff No. I didn't set anything myself. xdelta3 was chosen by (default) itself. If it wasn't the default, bsdiff should have been used automatically instead. Bug#552292: icewm: IceWM replaces the icons of some applications by default app icon
#include hallo.h * Evgeny M. Zubok [Mon, Oct 26 2009, 11:44:07PM]: I think that icewm doesn't properly recognize 64x64 icons and possibly other sizes. Only the following sizes (from themable.h) is defined in the source and specially verified within updateIcon (wmframe.cc): XIV(int, menuIconSize, 16) XIV(int, smallIconSize, 16) XIV(int, largeIconSize, 32) XIV(int, hugeIconSize, 48) Yes?! It would need to downscale at run time, that's why I retitled this bug report already. See 20091026192812.ga10...@rotes76.wohnheim.uni-kl.de. Regards, Eduard. -- Naja, Garbage Collector eben. Bug#552185: [Pkg-bluetooth-maintainers] Bug#552185: [gnome-bluetooth] read/write access to the /dev/rfkill device is required
Alexander Sack schrieb: the udev rule is a temporary hack, which we added to gnome-bluetooth to get things going. In the end it should be wrapped by bluez with policykit and al ... and hence we didnt want to put that in udev or some other package ... So the udev rule shouldn't end up in the Debian package anyway. Has this issue already been brought to the attention of the udev and bluez maintainers? Bug#552496: kwalletmanager: needs endless to open wallet and consumes up to 100% of one cpu

Look if any (or all ) of your wallet files (under /home/user/.kde/share/apps/kwallet ), got corrupted or trunked to 0. You can create a new empty one and open/close it to test. If this is the case, i hope you have backups... oops, ovbiously yours did not get trunked because you can open it until wait some time. But the behaviour you tell is what happened to me when the file got trucked and basically it told me it was unable to open it after ~10-15 min with my system busy.
