Bug#666556: Please enable Intel Sandy-Bridge Integrated MC CONFIG_EDAC_SBRIDGE
On Sat, 2012-03-31 at 19:30 +0200, Carlos Alberto Lopez Perez wrote: Source: linux-2.6 Version: 3.2.12-1 Severity: normal Hello, Please enable the support for the Intel Sandy-Bridge memory controller for EDAC so we can take advantage of ECC ram modules on this platform. As you may know, EDAC is not required for ECC. It does improve error reporting and helps you to identify faulty modules. Just set CONFIG_EDAC_SBRIDGE=m in the .config The driver is marked as experimental and there are several important bug fixes post-3.2. If we enable it, we also need to apply those bug fixes and possibly others. Bug#665959: ncurses-base: linux console can't display ACL's anymore
On 2012-03-31 22:51 +0200, Thomas Dickey wrote: Elimar's probably can probably be solved by setting TERM to linux2.2 As I said, this solution is far from ideal as it forces changing TERM when connecting to systems who do not have the latest and greatest terminfo descriptions. However, I don't have enough information to see whether changing the default behavior was a bad idea or a good one. How about running a test, e.g. like this: LC_ALL=C dialog --infobox Line drawing characters garbled 24 80 I see lots of 'Ã' characters at the top/bottom and '³' characters on the left and right margins. That comes down to seeing which group is largest: a) ncurses users are largely unaffected (except for those doing remote logins from one Linux console to another Linux system with different kernel versions hence different default TERM settings). I did spend some time attempting to identify the first kernel version in which the SI/SO change _actually_ appeared. Let's not go there - it's enough to point out that by the time it was actually delivered, it was at least 5 years overdue ;-) b) users with workarounds for Linux console quirks (as Elimar appears to be) are affected. c) some unspecified number of users would like to use tput for drawing lines (they're affected). I'd expect only a small fraction of those to be slang users (simply because they generally would use slang's quirks rather than script with tput). And what about e) sysadmins who run their system with LANG=C and see garbage on the screen now whenever they install a package that asks a question via debconf? Those are the ones who are affected now. Cheers, Sven -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
Bug#666693: the problem it's not -lsqlite3 or -lpthread
Adding -lsqlite3 and -lpthread to AUXLIBS didn't make a difference. A package built that way still reported that sqlite was not a supported dictionary type. I'm trying with the upstream sources in postfix_2.9.1.orig.tar.gz.
Bug#666704: further log
I gathered another gdm log file featuring a full Backtrace and Memory Map. The problem happens also with version 1:12-2-2 to which I reverted and have been running for several weeks. So I don't know where the culprit is, maybe some other package update (xorg?) or some other thing I may have done this morning but I cannot figure out. Bug#666708: octave-plplot: Adjust for the new octave package version 3.6.1
Package: octave-plplot Version: 5.9.9-3 Severity: important Tags: patch The current version of plplot build-depends on octave3.2-headers. This later package will be removed from unstable once the transition to the new version of octave (currently 3.6.1) will be completed (see the wiki page of the DOG [1]). The xmds package needed octave3.2-headers only for making the substitution of ${octave:Depends} in debian/control through the script octave-depends and also for using the very thin make fragment deps.make. There will be no octave-depends script in octave_3.6.1, since we abandoned the packages with versioned names. We think that the Debian packages depending/recommending/suggesting octave should specify themselves the needed version. Making octave-plplot depends on octave (= 3.6.1) will be appropriate. I am attaching below a patch for fixing the issues in this bug report. Note that the patch applies against the debian/* files in the SVN repository. I also added the appropriate entries in debian/changelog. In order to have the package working with Octave 3.6.1, I added three patches to the upstream sources. They are also attached below. Bug#650536: update!
Hi Niels, On Sun, Mar 11, 2012 at 12:16:09AM +0100, Niels Thykier wrote: I have started an unofficial branch[1] to get something more concrete on this. I decided to rename the tags so they had a common prefix (it simplified the updated to t/scripts/implemented-tags.t). Attached is a patch to clean up the remaining tests that still needed stack protector and fortify to show up in their binaries. Last I checked we still have an outstanding issue hardening-check using ldd, which I am not certain will work with foreign binaries (see comment #39). I suspect it will mostly affect people who do cross-builds and lintian.d.o[2]. And this should be taken care of now in hardening-includes 2.0, which uses a hard-coded list of libc functions instead of trying to build the list at runtime. After this patch, the TODO's single remaining item is: + revise tag certainty and description: - overrides (we can't do much about FP etc.) What is needed for this? Should I expand the descriptions more? Or was there something else? Dear maintainer of desktop-profiles and Debian translators, Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the desktop-profiles Debian package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation update in the BTS. I announced the intent to build and possibly upload a non-maintainer upload for this package in order to fix this long-time pending localization bug as well as all other pending translations. The package maintainer agreed for the NMU or did not respond in four days, so I will proceed with the NMU. The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail. The package is currently translated to: ca cs da de es eu fr gl it ja nl pt pt_BR ru sv tr vi Among these, the following translations are incomplete: none If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get ANOTHER mail with the translation to update. Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report against the desktop-profiles package so I can incorporate them in the build. The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is Monday, April 09, 2012. If you are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS. The POT file is attached to this mail. If the maintainer objects to this process I will immediately abort my NMU and send him/her all updates I receive. Otherwise the following will happen (or already has): Tuesday, March 27, 2012 : send the first intent to NMU notice to the package maintainer. Bug#666185: Should accept base32 encoded keys
sön 2012-04-01 klockan 10:56 +0100 skrev Martin Michlmayr: * Simon Josefsson si...@josefsson.org [2012-04-01 11:17]: oathtool currently requires an unencoded key. It would be nice if it would also accept base32 encoded keys, so you could pass it e.g. a key from Google directly. Hello. Thanks for the report, it sounds like a good idea. Please try just uploaded 1.12.0. Thanks. Unfortunately, I get: | oathtool: base32 decoding failed: Base32 string is invalid This is because my string is lowercase whereas oathtool expects it to be uppercase (oathtool works fine if I convert it to uppercase). My understanding of base32 is that both upper and lower case is accepted. (But I haven't actually read the standard.) Thanks for testing. The base32 alphabet is upper case in RFC 4648, and you are right the tool rejects lower case strings. However, I think it makes sense to support arbitrary case here. I guess we'll need a 2.12.1 to fix this. Do you know some base32 example keys with known OTPs? I wasn't able to find any. I wanted to make sure that other implementations uses normal base32 and not some variation. Or were you able to confirm that oath-toolkit does the right thing, after you upper-case'd the string? Maybe that is sufficient testing if we can't find test vectors. /Simon -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Right, I have just updated the terminfo entries but no other files. The 20110910 change to gen_edit.sh is irrelevant for us anyway, since Debian has dropped support for Linux kernels older than 2.6 a few years ago. (sorry if I seem unresponsive - I didn't see further discussion, was trying to decide whether to make the 20110910 change explicitly configurable, and was investigating an issue related to my fix in st-256color). Bug#666732: mrtrix: Adjust for the new octave package version 3.6.1
Package: mrtrix Version: 0.2.10-1 Severity: important Tags: patch The current version of mrtrix in sid build-depends on octave3.2-headers. This later package will be removed from unstable once the transition to the new version of octave (currently 3.6.1) will be completed (see the wiki page of the DOG [1]). The mtrtix package needs octave3.2-headers only for including the makefile fragment defs.make. This file has been dropped in the Debian packaging of Octave 3.6.1. Just using the octave-config script is the recommended way of going now. For that it is necessary to build-depend on liboctave-dev. I am attaching below a patch for fixing the issue in this bug report. The patch was obtained through debdiff. I added the corresponding entries to debian/changelog. Note also that I added Suggests: octave to the binary mrtrix package, a change that you may reconsider. I had wondered myself if the problem may actually be octave-octcdf's use of -mieee! I looked into the src/configure file of octave-octcdf. There is nothing in it that would add explicitly the -mieee option. It seems to appear from mkoctfile -p CPPFLAGS, which does not introduce the -mieee on my system, but this may be different on alpha. This is what I get on my i386 system: $ grep CPPFLAGS $(which mkoctfile) | grep ^: : ${CPPFLAGS=-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2} Could anyone do the same on an alpha system? This is precisely the reason why I want access to an unstable alpha chroot! According to octave's build log, the mieee option is added to XTRA_CFLAGS and XTRA_CXXFLAGS, but we need to know whether it ends up in CPPFLAGS. And asking people, wait for their answer and then ask other questions simply isn't productive. * Russ Allbery [2012-03-31 14:14:22 -0700]: Sergio Gelato sergio.gel...@astro.su.se writes: Pragmatically, then, one would like for bosserver to make a fresh attempt at starting these services whenever an interface becomes ready. ...this is rather tricky to do. Getting the list of configured local interfaces so that you know when it changes is rather non-portable and hard to do properly and reliably. I had thought that perhaps one could do something useful with a script in /etc/network/if-up.d/. It's not quite as simple as making that script issue bos start directly, because one would only want to start services that were stopped as a result of this error and it isn't currently easy to test for that. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. The loop_once() method of IO::Async::Loop::Epoll doesn't take this into account, so the next scheduled callback may therefore well not get triggered on just one loop_once() call. If control comes back to the calling code before the remaining millisecond is spent, the next loop_once() call will end up calling epoll_pwait() with a timeout of zero, which makes it return immediately. This may result in a busy loop of several loop_once() calls until the millisecond tick actually happens. Add (hopefully) more deterministic TODO tests to detect such situations. As IO::Async::Loop will never sleep more than one second ($MAX_SIGWAIT_TIME), we test with a range of timeouts between one and 700 milliseconds that loop_once() will only return when a callback has actually been called. The busy loop seems to be longer on the small timeouts - perhaps epoll_pwait(2) uses a finer resolution for shorter timeouts than the longer ones? --- MANIFEST|1 + t/07loop-once.t | 27 +++ 2 files changed, 28 insertions(+), 0 deletions(-) create mode 100644 t/07loop-once.t diff --git a/MANIFEST b/MANIFEST index 0010c9e..fc55176 100644 --- a/MANIFEST +++ b/MANIFEST @@ -14,4 +14,5 @@ t/03loop-signal.t t/04loop-idle.t t/05loop-child.t t/06loop-control.t +t/07loop-once.t t/99pod.t diff --git a/t/07loop-once.t b/t/07loop-once.t new file mode 100644 index 000..2cad2e3 --- /dev/null +++ b/t/07loop-once.t @@ -0,0 +1,27 @@ +#!/usr/bin/perl -w +my @delays; + +BEGIN { @delays = (.001, .005, .007, .01, .05, .07, .1, .5, .7) } + +use strict; +use Test::More tests = 2 * @delays; +use Time::HiRes q/time/; + +use IO::Async::Loop::Epoll; +my $loop = IO::Async::Loop::Epoll-new; + +for my $delay (@delays) { +my $done; +my $i = 1; +my $starttime = time(); + +$loop-enqueue_timer( delay = $delay, code = sub { $done++ } ); +$i++ while +!$loop-loop_once( 1 ) # callback not triggered yet + (time() - $starttime 1); # guard against infinite loops +TODO: { local $::TODO = [rt.cpan.org #73498]; +is ($i, 1, Just one loop run is enough to wait $delay seconds); +} +is ($done, 1, Timer actually got triggered within one second); +} + -- 1.7.9.1 From eab695afa987bde81db22f0dc7f689677cef6794 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Niko Tyni nt...@debian.org Date: Sun, 1 Apr 2012 15:16:04 +0300 Subject: [PATCH 2/2] Fix loop_once() returning too soon epoll_pwait() uses an integer millisecond value for its timeout parameter, so round up any fractional values. Bug#665881: [3.1 - 3.2.12 regression] module ath5k is blocking wlan-card
Made some new tests! When the wlan-hardware is set by the kernel, also Windows-XP will not see the card. So it is proven: The kernel is setting my wlancard into some mode, which can only be reset, when I take completely the power off the notebook. Reinitialisation through a reboot or by reloading the kernel-module does not work. Greets Hans -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#644392: dspam truncates mail
Le mardi 1 novembre 2011 21:57:04, Stevan Bajić a écrit : [SNIP] Looking now more closer to the original message you wrote I realize that the message got truncated before the dot. Usually that kind of stuff happens if the dot is the first character and it is not properly escaped (dot stuffing. See http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2821#section-4.5.2). But that dot in your message is at the end of the line. Somehow I can not believe that it is dot stuffing issue. But who knows? It looks like and it smells like a dot stuffing issue. I did a quick check to see where is the dot in the raw message given. The answer is it is the byte 1952. This means 1640 bytes were added before the dot (1640+1951=3591). This fits with the fact that header could have been added by some mail server. The raw message given in this bug report is 4487 bytes long. With the 1640 bytes added somewhere before the dot (probably in the header), the total is now 6127 bytes, so bigger than the 6021 bytes announced by exim. Besides, the mailing list has a footer/signature, there should be at least 198 more bytes for the signature. There is also the -- which is not on a new line in the copy of the mail on gmane, I don't know if all this is relevant but I thought it wouldn't hurt to put my thought here.
