Bug#666556: Please enable Intel Sandy-Bridge Integrated MC CONFIG_EDAC_SBRIDGE

 Hello,

Please enable the support for the Intel Sandy-Bridge memory controller
for EDAC so we can take advantage of ECC ram modules on this platform.

As you may know, EDAC is not required for ECC. It does improve error
reporting and helps you to identify faulty modules.

Just set CONFIG_EDAC_SBRIDGE=m in the .config

The driver is marked as experimental and there are several important bug
fixes post-3.2. If we enable it, we also need to apply those bug fixes
and possibly others.

Ben.

Bug#665959: ncurses-base: linux console can't display ACL's anymore

2012-04-01 Thread Sven Joachim
On 2012-03-31 22:51 +0200, Thomas Dickey wrote:

Elimar's probably can probably be solved by setting TERM to linux2.2

As I said, this solution is far from ideal as it forces changing TERM
when connecting to systems who do not have the latest and greatest
terminfo descriptions.

However, I don't have enough information to see whether changing the
default behavior was a bad idea or a good one.

How about running a test, e.g. like this:

LC_ALL=C dialog --infobox Line drawing characters garbled 24 80

I see lots of 'Ä' characters at the top/bottom and '³' characters on the
left and right margins.

 That comes down to
 seeing which group is largest:

   a) ncurses users are largely unaffected (except for those doing
remote logins from one Linux console to another Linux system
with different kernel versions hence different default TERM
  settings).

I did spend some time attempting to identify the first kernel
version in which the SI/SO change _actually_ appeared. Let's
not go there - it's enough to point out that by the time it
was actually delivered, it was at least 5 years overdue ;-)

   b) users with workarounds for Linux console quirks (as Elimar
  appears to be) are affected.

   c) some unspecified number of users would like to use tput for
drawing lines (they're affected). I'd expect only a small
fraction of those to be slang users (simply because they
generally would use slang's quirks rather than script with
  tput).

And what about

  e) sysadmins who run their system with LANG=C and see garbage on
the screen now whenever they install a package that asks a
 question via debconf?

Those are the ones who are affected now.

Cheers,
   Sven

Bug#666693: the problem it's not -lsqlite3 or -lpthread

2012-04-01 Thread Andy Teijelo
Adding -lsqlite3 and -lpthread to AUXLIBS didn't make a difference. A
package built that way still reported that sqlite was not a supported
dictionary type. I'm trying with the upstream sources
in postfix_2.9.1.orig.tar.gz.

Bug#666704: further log

2012-04-01 Thread Carlo Marchiori
I gathered another gdm log file featuring a full Backtrace and Memory Map.
The problem happens also with version 1:12-2-2 to which I reverted and
have been running for several weeks.
So I don't know where the culprit is, maybe some other package update
(xorg?) or some other thing I may have done this morning
but I cannot figure out.

Thanks,

Bug#666708: octave-plplot: Adjust for the new octave package version 3.6.1

2012-04-01 Thread Rafael Laboissiere
Package: octave-plplot
Version: 5.9.9-3
Severity: important
Tags: patch

The current version of plplot build-depends on octave3.2-headers. This
later package will be removed from unstable once the transition to the
new version of octave (currently 3.6.1) will be completed (see the wiki
page of the DOG [1]).

The xmds package needed octave3.2-headers only for making the
substitution of ${octave:Depends} in debian/control through the script
octave-depends and also for using the very thin make fragment deps.make.
There will be no octave-depends script in octave_3.6.1, since we
abandoned the packages with versioned names. We think that the Debian
packages depending/recommending/suggesting octave should specify
themselves the needed version. Making octave-plplot depends on octave
(= 3.6.1) will be appropriate.

I am attaching below a patch for fixing the issues in this bug report.
Note that the patch applies against the debian/* files in the SVN
repository. I also added the appropriate entries in debian/changelog.

In order to have the package working with Octave 3.6.1, I added three
patches to the upstream sources. They are also attached below.

in the build log I found:

configure: WARNING: No pcsc libraries found, SCard driver will not be available.

This is why pcsclite.h is not found.
I wonder why /usr/include/PCSC/winscard.h is available. The pcsclite.h file is
in the same package!
sct@u110432b:~$ dpkg -S winscard.hlibpcsclite-dev

sct@u110432b:~$ dpkg -S pcsclite.h

Could it be a problem with the libpcsclite-dev on the build system.
I don't know how the build system works. On my system it builds well.

Kind regards,

stack protector and fortify to show up in their binaries.

Last I checked we still have an outstanding issue hardening-check
using ldd, which I am not certain will work with foreign binaries (see
comment #39). I suspect it will mostly affect people who do
 cross-builds and lintian.d.o[2].

And this should be taken care of now in hardening-includes 2.0, which
uses a hard-coded list of libc functions instead of trying to build the
list at runtime.

After this patch, the TODO's single remaining item is:

+ revise tag certainty and description:
  - overrides (we can't do much about FP etc.)

What is needed for this? Should I expand the descriptions more? Or was
there something else?

Thanks!

How do I install this? Is it simply:

 $ dpkg -i logwatch_7.4.0+svn20120227rev85-1~4.gbp6ad10f_all.deb

Yes, that's correct.

What are the potential downsides to installing this? I normally
only install packages from official Debian sources. Will I be able
to install a future logwatch backport or stable package over this
 without any problems?

Future backports won't be a problem at all, that same is for wheezy.
Only for the unlikely case that logwatch gets an update in squeeze,
apt will not install that version for you because an update in squeeze
would have a lower version number than this package.

Also note the pt_BR in kde packages descriptions...

I'd say pt-br wins both as being used in more independent packages, and

 Hi Aron, William,

While the 0.3.7.beta-16.1 restores the actual sniffit binary placed in the
package, which is of course rather essential, this binary is not built
with any of the hardening build flags, therefore reopening this bug.

You can always check if hardening worked with the 'hardening-check' tool
 from the hardening-includes package.

 Cheers,

Let's be clear: if I cannot get access to an unstable chroot for an

action.

Understood. I suggest that you do try DSA on the offchance that the
official Alpha porterbox albeniz is still available.

If albeniz has been decommissioned then an unofficial Alpha porterbox
will need to be made available to Debian Developers, however I
personally can't attend to that for at least three weeks.

Could we just allow DDs to login to one of the buildd servers? If that
is sufficient then I can make one of my buildd servers available.

Thats why localconf.php is marked as modified.
TYPO3 itself also modifies this file on its own on various situations.
As soon as someone opens the website or the backend this file could have

In the light of this, I wonder how sensible it is, to treat this file as a

When RFC5011 KSK revocation is enabled (the default), at some point after
KSK keys have been revoked, zonesigner fails with the following error:

dnssec-signzone: fatal: revoked KSK is not self signed

The problem is that zonesigner is not passing a -k argument to dnssec-signzone
with the revoked key. This appears to be because keyrec_keypaths() (from
Net::DNS::SEC::Tools::keyrec) is not finding the kskrev keypaths, which have
an additional level of indirection in their keyrec signing sets.

The attached patch attempts to correct this problem.

Bug#665959: ncurses-base: linux console can't display ACL's anymore

Incidentally, reverting the rmacs/smacs changes fixes that problem in

 And what about

Those are the ones who are affected now.

I'll probably revert all the linux changes from the 20110716 patch,

Bug#666713: broken dependencies on libusb

2012-04-01 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: libmtp-dev
Version: 1.1.2-3
Severity: serious

The last upload changed the dependencies of libmtp-dev
from libusb-dev to libusb-1.0-0-dev. This broke the pkg-config file,
which has

# grep Requires /usr/lib/pkgconfig/libmtp.pc
Requires: libusb

# apt-file search libusb.pc
libusb-dev: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkgconfig/libusb.pc

The only package providing libusb.pc is libusb-dev, apparently

As a result, packages build-depending on libmtp-dev are currently
broken [1], as the pkg-config check no longer succeeds.

Andres, AFAIUI, we can and should now request the libav-extra source

I think the best timing would be to wait until libav 0.8.1-4 reaches
wheezy, (which will probably require a hint for britney from the
release team, CC'ed for this reason) and then have libav-extra removed
from unstable as well.

Bug#666715: ITP: dedupdedup -- find duplicate programs for finding duplicate files

* Package name: dedupdedup
  Version : 1.0
  Upstream Author : Lars Wirzenius
* URL : http://liw.fi/dedupdedup/
* License : AGPLv3+
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : find duplicate programs for finding duplicate files

dedupdedup is a program to find duplicate programs for finding duplicate
files on the filesystem. It looks through the Debian package archive
and the open ITP bugs to find programs that find duplicate files. It
can then optionally close the ITP bugs, and file bugs against
ftp-master.debian.org to get such programs to be removed from the
archive.

Not all duplicate file finder programs are exact copies of each other,
so dedupdedup embeds a simple AI system to compare programs, based on
package descriptions, --help output, and manual pages, to verify that
only the most complete of such programs remains.

Bug#666716: -no-remote in conjunction with -new-tab doesn't work anymore

2012-04-01 Thread Michael Welle
Package: iceweasel
Version: 10.0.3esr-2

The cmd line switches -new-tab and -new-window don't work anymore if
the browser was initially started with the cmd line switch -no-remote.

Trying to open a new tab in a running browser then results in a
message box saying 'Iceweasel is already running, but is not
responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing
iceweasel process, or restart your system'.

This behaviour was introduced some time ago and I think there was a
similar issue some time (years?) ago.

To reproduce

1. start a new browser process:

$ iceweasel -no-remote http://insert your url here

2. try to open a new tab in the running browser:

$ iceweasel -new-tab http://insert your url here

Dang.

Is this something I should make stable update for debiandoc-sgml ?

Can you be more specific ?

It's related to tags in (sub-)section titled in some language (e.g.
French): using “prgnapt/prgn” in section titles breaks the build of
the French translation in Squeeze.

OK, so there was a bug in 2.1 that was fixed in 2.1.1.

No, it's not a bug, it's a significant change in behaviour.

It would have made sense to put that into changelog.Debian
for people running testing/unstable and using apt-listchanges.

NEWS.Debian is for the rare cases of serious incompatible
 changes in a package.

Well, it is for less serious cases, quoting the developer's reference
This is the preferred means to let the user know about significant
changes in a package.

NEWS.Debian is not for listing all bugs that were present
for a month in unstable and then fixed - that is what
 changelog.Debian is for.

Upstream already makes that distinction: bugs are listed here [0] and
unusual changes in behaviour are listed here [1]. As I said, this is
not a bug. Of course, the differences between what constitutes a bug
and a feature are very personal ;-)

Bug#666718: GtkPaned's handling of preferred size broken

2012-04-01 Thread David Weinehall
Package: libgtk-3-0
Version: 3.4.0-1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Applications that uses GtkPaned and text input entries, of main
importance here being empathy when used for multiuser chats, the text
input field grows unbounded.

There is a fix in upstream bugzilla, but it seems that the fix in
question has only been applied to gtk2, not gtk3. The fix seems
possible to apply to gtk3 too.

Upstream bug in question:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=587441

This bug makes IRC chatting and Jabber group chat next to useless in
empathy.

Well, it doesn't matter whether it's a fixed bug or a reverted feature.

Fact is that the versions in stable and unstable have the same bahavior, or?

It is completely pointless that people upgrading from 1.6.4-1

On the other hand, people upgrading from 2.1 wheezy will see it and
they may want to know about it.

Everyone using unstable/testing anyway knows what he is doing and
that things break quite frequently...

NEWS.Debian is not the correct place for listing all the upstream
behavior changes in 2.1 (including the pull change), and even less
when a change gets reverted.

I get the following error.

mysql said: ERROR 1426 (42000) at line 72: Too big precision 14 │ │ specified
for 'timevalue'. Maximum is 6.
I have no idea why it's doing this but it is. It is there and it keeps this
up. the phpmyadmin package _should_ just work. This happens with mariadb
and also mysql. Both packages do this and I don't know why it's doing this.
this has only started happening since squeeze was released/phpmyadmin was set

package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation
update in the BTS.

I announced the intent to build and possibly upload a non-maintainer upload
for this package in order to fix this long-time pending localization
bug as well as all other pending translations.

The package maintainer agreed for the NMU or did not respond in four
days, so I will proceed with the NMU.

The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail.

The package is currently translated to:

Among these, the following translations are incomplete: none

If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get
ANOTHER mail with the translation to update.

Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations
for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report
against the desktop-profiles package so I can incorporate them in the build.

The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is Monday, April 09,
2012. If you
are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS.

The POT file is attached to this mail.

If the maintainer objects to this process I will immediately abort my NMU
and send him/her all updates I receive.

Thanks for testing. The base32 alphabet is upper case in RFC 4648, and
you are right the tool rejects lower case strings. However, I think it
makes sense to support arbitrary case here. I guess we'll need a 2.12.1
to fix this.

Do you know some base32 example keys with known OTPs? I wasn't able to
find any. I wanted to make sure that other implementations uses normal
base32 and not some variation. Or were you able to confirm that
oath-toolkit does the right thing, after you upper-case'd the string?
Maybe that is sufficient testing if we can't find test vectors.

/Simon

Thinking about it again, it is probably better to just make the linux
terminfo entry use linux2.2 by default. This should keep everyone
relatively happy, Vincent can then set TERM to linux3.0 if he so
desires.

actually I've made changes to two parts (terminfo.src and the change to
gen_edit.sh - but I recall your patch level is before the latter - 20110910).

Right, I have just updated the terminfo entries but no other files. The
20110910 change to gen_edit.sh is irrelevant for us anyway, since Debian
has dropped support for Linux kernels older than 2.6 a few years ago.

(sorry if I seem unresponsive - I didn't see further discussion, was trying
to decide whether to make the 20110910 change explicitly configurable, and was
investigating an issue related to my fix in st-256color).

I'll pick up the st-256color fix later, but for now I have to drop
st-256color from ncurses-term anyway to solve #665877.

Cheers,

I just tried getXuser() and getXconsole() from acpi-support's power-funcs and

is is special logic in there to cope with this case. Also I don't really
understand what you mean with when the system is not running an X session.
What does not work then? I thought you were talking about some acpi-support

whether or not consolekit works then because it is only used to find the X

Bug#666661: pcsc-cyberjack: FTBFS: winscard.h:20:22: fatal error: pcsclite.h: No such file or directory

2012-04-01 Thread Ludovic Rousseau

Le 01/04/12 09:07, Frank Neuber a écrit :

Hi,

Hello,

in the build log I found:
checking if PC/SC should be used... yes
checking for pcsc includes... -I/usr/include -I/usr/include/PCSC
configure: WARNING: No pcsc libraries found, SCard driver will not be available.

This is why pcsclite.h is not found.
I wonder why /usr/include/PCSC/winscard.h is available. The pcsclite.h file is
in the same package!
sct@u110432b:~$ dpkg -S winscard.hlibpcsclite-dev
libpcsclite-dev: /usr/include/PCSC/winscard.h
sct@u110432b:~$ dpkg -S pcsclite.h
libpcsclite-dev: /usr/include/PCSC/pcsclite.h

Could it be a problem with the libpcsclite-dev on the build system.
I don't know how the build system works. On my system it builds well.

The problem is that libpcsclite1 is now a multi arch library.
So the lib libpcsclite.so is no more in /usr/lib/libpcsclite.so but in
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpcsclite.so on AMD64 systems.

The configure script of pcsc-cyberjack searches the library using a
fixed list of directories. From m4/pcsc.m4 line 68:

AC_ARG_WITH(pcsc-libs, [ --with-pcsc-libs=DIR adds pcsc library
path],

  [pcsc_search_lib_dirs=$withval],
  [pcsc_search_lib_dirs=/usr/lib64 \

  pcsc_libraries=-L$d
  pcsc_lib=-l`echo $found_file | sed 's/lib//;s/\.so*//;s/\.a//'`
  break
   fi
done

As you can see /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu is not in the list.

A (too) simple patch is:
--- ../pcsc.m4 2012-04-01 12:18:38.0 +0200
+++ m4/pcsc.m4  2012-04-01 12:27:48.0 +0200

+ /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu \

But build will fail on all the other Debian architectures.

The problem should be solved upstream. Using a fixed list of library
directories is a bad idea. The correct solution is to _link_ with
libpcsclite to know if the library is found by the linker.

Or in debian/rules use something like (untested):
--with-pcsc-libs=/usr/lib/$(dpkg-architecture -qDEB_HOST_MULTIARCH)

Dear Julien,

Hello Laurence,

I am sorry, but I have not. Unfortunately the issues I was

too serious for me to continue experimenting so I had to switch away

dspam.

I still don't think that it is a DSPAM issue but something other.

I am not sure, but it could be something with new functions unsupported

Bug#666731: xrdp: cannot change keyboard layout in terminal

2012-04-01 Thread Artem Berlinkov
Package: xrdp
Version: 0.5.0-2
Severity: normal

To be able to type both latin and cyrillic characters one needs to switch
between two keyboard layouts, for example EN, RU. When connecting to xrdp
server it is not possible to do so - it shows shadowed US105 character map and
Russian character map and does not switch.

Therefore not possible to use second keyboard layout. Also concerns squeeze.

further doing what Matteo Aquilano suggested (setting VertHysteresis and
HorizHysteresis to 0) I also reduced VertScrollDelta (and
HorizScrollDelta) and it seems more usable now: I set VertScrollDelta and
HorizScrollDelta to 50

Bug#666732: mrtrix: Adjust for the new octave package version 3.6.1

2012-04-01 Thread Rafael Laboissiere
Package: mrtrix
Version: 0.2.10-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

The current version of mrtrix in sid build-depends on octave3.2-headers.
This later package will be removed from unstable once the transition to
the new version of octave (currently 3.6.1) will be completed (see the
wiki page of the DOG [1]).

The mtrtix package needs octave3.2-headers only for including the
makefile fragment defs.make. This file has been dropped in the
Debian packaging of Octave 3.6.1. Just using the octave-config script
is the recommended way of going now. For that it is necessary to
build-depend on liboctave-dev.

I am attaching below a patch for fixing the issue in this bug report. The
patch was obtained through debdiff. I added the corresponding entries to
debian/changelog. Note also that I added Suggests: octave to the
binary mrtrix package, a change that you may reconsider.

 the package for inclusion?

I am a Debian Developer and would gladly consider sponsoring freetuxtv.
It might be of interest in proposing the package to the Debian
Multimedia Maintainers team once its ready and have it team-maintained.

I think I'm going to release the 0.6.3 version of FreetuxTV, that fix
this problem this week end. So if you can sponsor me, we can build a
package based on this future version.

That would be ideal I think, please contact me privately once the
package is ready for review.

Best wishes,

Bug#666733: boinc-manager: Corrupt menu display

2012-04-01 Thread Kurt Roeckx
Package: boinc-manager
Version: 7.0.24+dfsg-1

Hi,

The menu of boincmgr in advanced mode is ussually corrupt, only
showing Fi, the rest isn't show. The Fi background color is
different than the rest of the area where the menu is supposed to be.

If you then click it, or press alt+f, you can use the cursors to
go to the other menus, you can see the window below it, but not
the menu entry itself.

I'm using xfce if this has anything to do with it.

I had wondered myself if the problem may actually be octave-octcdf's use
  of -mieee!

I looked into the src/configure file of octave-octcdf. There is
nothing in it that would add explicitly the -mieee option. It seems
to appear from mkoctfile -p CPPFLAGS, which does not introduce the
-mieee on my system, but this may be different on alpha. This is what
I get on my i386 system:

 $ grep CPPFLAGS $(which mkoctfile) | grep ^:
 : ${CPPFLAGS=-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2}

Could anyone do the same on an alpha system?

This is precisely the reason why I want access to an unstable alpha
chroot! According to octave's build log, the mieee option is added to
XTRA_CFLAGS and XTRA_CXXFLAGS, but we need to know whether it ends up in
CPPFLAGS. And asking people, wait for their answer and then ask other
questions simply isn't productive.

To what? 0e? How was 0d chosen? d for debian?

The packaging for ocropus should then be updated to fix the dependency

That seems to be a completely messed up situation ...

TeX creates fonts *either* in TEXMFVAR which is ~/.texmf-var/...
or in FONTSCACHE which is /var/cache/fonts

THe first mention sbuild-nonexistent seems to related to $HOME
the second one to /var/cache/fonts/pk which of course cannot
be created if not running as root (that is by default).

But *HOW* that ever worked on testing I woul like to see. When was
the last build of that package wiht TL2009 on testing? And whether
it is possible to see where the fonts are put?

Best wishes

This is easily reproducible for me.

The bug seems to be in timeouts rounding down to the nearest full
millisecond. See the commit messages of the attached proposed patches,
which I've also sent upstream via the CPAN ticket.

Subject: [PATCH 1/2] TODO tests to detect loop_once() returning too soon

The intermittent t/02loop-timer.t failures seen in [rt.cpan.org #73498]
happen because epoll_pwait() uses an integer millisecond value for its
timeout parameter, so fractional values will get rounded down. The
loop_once() method of IO::Async::Loop::Epoll doesn't take this into
account, so the next scheduled callback may therefore well not get
triggered on just one loop_once() call.

If control comes back to the calling code before the remaining millisecond
is spent, the next loop_once() call will end up calling epoll_pwait()
with a timeout of zero, which makes it return immediately. This may result
in a busy loop of several loop_once() calls until the millisecond tick
actually happens.

Add (hopefully) more deterministic TODO tests to detect such
situations. As IO::Async::Loop will never sleep more than one second
($MAX_SIGWAIT_TIME), we test with a range of timeouts between one and
700 milliseconds that loop_once() will only return when a callback has
actually been called.

The busy loop seems to be longer on the small timeouts - perhaps
epoll_pwait(2) uses a finer resolution for shorter timeouts than the
longer ones?

Subject: [PATCH 2/2] Fix loop_once() returning too soon

epoll_pwait() uses an integer millisecond value for its timeout parameter,
so round up any fractional values. This avoids early returns during the
very last millisecond before the next scheduled event.

As detailed in the previous commit message, this should fix the
intermittent t/02loop-timer.t failures seen in [rt.cpan.org #73498].

Bug#665881: [3.1 - 3.2.12 regression] module ath5k is blocking wlan-card

2012-04-01 Thread Hans-J. Ullrich
Made some new tests!

When the wlan-hardware is set by the kernel, also Windows-XP will not see the
card.

So it is proven: The kernel is setting my wlancard into some mode, which can
only be reset, when I take completely the power off the notebook.

Reinitialisation through a reboot or by reloading the kernel-module does not
work.

Bug#644392: dspam truncates mail

2012-04-01 Thread Thomas Preud'homme
Le mardi 1 novembre 2011 21:57:04, Stevan Bajić a écrit :

Looking now more closer to the original message you wrote I realize
that the message got truncated before the dot. Usually that kind of
stuff happens if the dot is the first character and it is not properly
 escaped (dot stuffing. See
http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2821#section-4.5.2). But that dot in your
message is at the end of the line. Somehow I can not believe that it is
dot stuffing issue. But who knows? It looks like and it smells like a
 dot stuffing issue.

I did a quick check to see where is the dot in the raw message given. The
answer is it is the byte 1952. This means 1640 bytes were added before the dot
(1640+1951=3591). This fits with the fact that header could have been added by
some mail server.

The raw message given in this bug report is 4487 bytes long. With the 1640
bytes added somewhere before the dot (probably in the header), the total is
now 6127 bytes, so bigger than the 6021 bytes announced by exim. Besides, the
mailing list has a footer/signature, there should be at least 198 more bytes
for the signature.

There is also the -- which is not on a new line in the copy of the mail on
gmane, I don't know if all this is relevant but I thought it wouldn't hurt to
put my thought here.
