Bug#662775: NMU for Qt 4.8 FTBFS

From what I see, images are no longer in upstream's tarball so that is very likely to be a not-yet-noticed upstream issue. It is still present in wheezy's 3.6.5 by the way. images are indeed in docs-xml/Samba3-HOWTO, for instance, but not in docs/htmldocs/Samba3-HOWTO So this bug is worth reporting upstream for them to copy the images/ director{y|ies} in docs/htmldocs/ over when building releases. I'll do that as soon as possible. We could cheat and copy over images/ directories to the relevant directories in the Debian package but I'd rather not and have upstream fix this. Thanks for reporting. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#658275: blender: SIGSEGV when running: blender -E help
Hey, I ran into this the other week myself actually. I recall mentioning it on irc, but I don't think anything became of it though. Currently, even the latest svn revision still has the problem, so 2.62 testing probably wont help much here. Anyways, I made an upstream bug report as well, since the devs tend to pay close attention to their own tracker, and referenced this report in it: https://projects.blender.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=31464&group_id=9&atid=498 I will try touch base with you guys when the problem gets fixed. Bug#332413: CAN-2005-3151: Bufferoverflow in blenderplayer arg parsing
Well, I did some testing (on Ubuntu 12.04, but with multiple versions of blenderplayer) and thought I would add to the report a bit. Personally, I think this might be gone, but I will leave this up to you guys. Here is what I found in some tests with the exploit code. Looking at the shell code, it seems to ultimately end in "/bin/sh", so I would assume it give me a shell upon successful invocation. While I was never able to get a sh shell, I did notice some versions would give telltale output. blender-2.37a-linux-glibc2.2.5-i386-static gave: Loading /bin/sh failed: No error (gdb reports: warning: Selected architecture i386 is not compatible with reported target architecture i386:x86-64) blender-2.60a-linux-glibc27-x86_64/blenderplayer gave: Loading /home/dan/blender-build/build/linux/bin/failed: Error: Unable to open "blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer": Not a directory. Bus error (core dumped) blender-2.61-linux-glibc27-x86_64 gives Loading /home/dan/blender-build/build/linux/bin/failed: Error: Unable to open "blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer/blenderplayer": Not a directory. Bus error (core dumped) So it seems that despite not being able to get an sh shell (cpu NX protection perhaps?), the suspicious errors ("no error" in 2.37a, and core dumps in the others), that the problem seems to be gone (no core dumps or buss errors) in 2.62 release and up (including the latest svn revision). If need be, I can probably poke around and try find the revisions this was fixed, if you need to cheery pick the patch for this bug for the package. Anyways, hope this helps save some investigation time. o/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#672977: bzr push fails with "uncommitted changes" error, but bzr status shows nothing
Package: bzr Version: 2.1.2-1 Severity: normal I just had a problem with bzr 2.1.2 where a push failed with this error: bzr: ERROR: Working tree "/home/ajapted/aww/" has uncommitted changes (See bzr status). Use --no-strict to force the push. However using bzr status showed no uncommitted changes at all. I checked that .bzrignore was not masking any files. I don't know how to reproduce the problem, the only thing that I did differently recently was to use "bzr shelve" on a file. I tried unshelving that file and reverting the changes but the error still occurred. A workaround was to use "bzr commit --unchanged ." which committed an apparently empty commit, but it obviously did something as since the push worked after that. Adding '--nodefaults' to the definition of mysqladmin in debian/setup-mysql.sh gets round the issue of the invalid option. Personally, I think the swt alternatives is... "weird" at best. So I would vote for breaking the old packages to force their removal and then remove the usage of alternatives in Wheezy+1. I think the original idea was to allow co-installation of two (API/ABI) incompatiable swt jars to smoothing transitions - however they are not going to enabled at the same time, so we would end up breaking some programs during a transition anyway. ~Niels -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". I don't want to package different Tcl/Tk versions differently. Any inconsistency is bad for users. So, either all of them should provide alternatives to tclsh and wish or none of them, in which case the only symlinks to tclsh and wish would be in the tcl and tk packages. In the latter case we need to update the policy and remove virtual packages tclsh and wish, which will cause quite a bit of fixing bugs. And I don't know what to do with extensions which work with any Tcl/Tk version (so, I don't want them to require 'tcl'), but come with examples with "#! /usr/bin/tclsh". > > My only worry would be that some package might be using "Depends: > tcl8.4" and expecting the tclsh command to work, when they should have > been using "Depends: tcl (>= 8.4)". If you mean to handle upgrades from versions of netbase that shipped a different version of /etc/init.d/networking, note that /etc/init.d/networking has not changed since squeeze, so the squeeze netbase would have exactly the same md5sum; I checked. :) And since Debian doesn't support upgrades that skip a release, an unmodified version of /etc/init.d/networking can only have the one md5sum that I listed. So, the code I provided will work for any supported upgrade scenario. (I agree that the general case for arbitrary packages requires the approach you suggest, but in this particular case the simpler version with a single hardcoded md5sum will work just fine.) - Josh Triplett -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Hi Jakub, There are times in the past when tuxguitar explicitly depended on libswt-gtk-3.5-jar, so it seems odd to say that tuxguitar won't work with it. What seems to be the case is that tuxguitar won't work when both -3.5 and -3 packages are install. Could it be due to the version of libswt-gtk-3-java that was used when the tuxguitar binary was built? (That is, should it be a versioned dependency on libswt-gtk-3-java?) Also, I'm able to install both libswt-gtk-3.5-java and libswt-3-gtk-java in a clean chroot and still run tuxguitar without a problem. Santiago Vila writes: > While implementing the new emacs policy in gettext-el I noticed there > are at least two bugs in this line > > ln -s ../../emacs/site-lisp/foo/$el . Thanks for the report. Actually, I *finally* managed to release an overhauled emacsen-common (2.0.0) that's intended to remove the requirement that add-on packages depend on emacsen in some way, and it should also fix the ../../ problem. If you're willing, I'd be very interested to hear whether or not the new policy and implementation will work for you. Also note that another goal of the overhaul was to eliminate the need for most, if not all, of the trivial foo-el packages. Since the dependencies are no longer required, it should be possible to handle the emacs-related bits for a larger package within the package itself. See /usr/share/doc/emacsen-common/debian-emacs-policy.gz for the details, ask me directly, or post to debian-emacsen. Bug#672951: pdflatex segfaults - /Group dict missing - pdfpages with nup 1x1

Package: xserver-xorg-core Version: 2:1.12.1-2 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, after apt-get update && apt-get upgrade on testing, X has become increasingly unresponsive to various mouse click inputs; mostly shows up with interaction with google-chrome when opening or closing a new tab. entire X instance will wedge for 5-30 seconds when this occurs. was not using DKMS for nvidia driver install; occured when using a previously known good NV release (295.20); attempted usage of 260.1929, 295.20, 295.33, and 302.07 NV drivers with no change in behaviour. system is on stable, but pulled in updated xorg-core (and associated support libs) from unstable to validate against Xorg 1.12.1. previous nv pkgs had pinned the kernel image to 3.0.0 (-1?), removed and updated to 3.2.0-2 as suggested by a coworker with the same video card running debian testing (he also manually installed NV drivers without m-a/dkms) the stack trace seems to be a quite commonly reporeted issue; updated to -dbg to get symbols, and it seems something funny is going on deep in the NV driver's call to gettimeofday. -- Package-specific info: X server symlink status: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Dec 24 2010 /etc/X11/X -> /usr/bin/Xorg -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 2085616 May 6 20:17 /usr/bin/Xorg VGA-compatible devices on PCI bus: -- 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 430] [10de:0de1] (rev a1) Xorg X server configuration file status: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1610 May 14 18:01 /etc/X11/xorg.conf Contents of /etc/X11/xorg.conf: --- Section "ServerFlags" Option "Xinerama" "1" Option "AllowEmptyInput" "True" EndSection #Section "Extensions" #Option "Composite" "Disable" #EndSection Section "InputClass" Identifier "trackball" MatchProduct "Kensington Kensington Expert Mouse" MatchIsPointer "on" MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*" Driver "evdev" EndSection Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "X.org Configured" #Screen 0 "Screen0" 1200 250 #Screen 1 "Screen1" 0 0 Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 250 Screen 1 "Screen1" 2560 0 EndSection Section "Files" ModulePath "/usr/lib/xorg/modules" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "Monitor0" VendorName "Monitor Vendor" ModelName"Monitor Model" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "Monitor1" VendorName "Monitor Vendor" ModelName"Monitor Model" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Card0" Driver "nvidia" BusID "PCI:1:0:0" Screen 0 EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Card1" Driver "nvidia" BusID "PCI:1:0:0" Screen 1 EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen0" Device "Card0" Monitor"Monitor0" DefaultDepth 24 Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True" Option "TwinView" "0" SubSection "Display" Depth 24 EndSubSection EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen1" Device "Card1" Monitor"Monitor1" DefaultDepth 24 Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True" Option "Rotate" "left" Option "TwinView" "0" SubSection "Display" Viewport 0 0 Depth 24 EndSubSection EndSection /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d does not exist. Bug#588962: po4a using both builddir and srcdir
Hi folks, I've been working on #588962 to implement po4a for the schroot documentation. However, I'm running into a few difficulties which I hope some old hands can provide some guidance on fixing. I have added Thomas' fr translation, and got it to produce fr manpages and PDF documentation. This is in a prerelease version at http://people.debian.org/~rleigh/schroot_1.5.1.orig.tar.xz The main issues are: - I'm getting a "translated" directory in both the source directory and build directory (man/translated/fr and debian/build/man/translated/fr). It's a bug to dirty the source tree--I really only want them generating in the build tree. I set srcdir and destdir, but I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing (see: man/Makefile.am update-po rule). - The fr manpages are output in UTF-8. The man program results in readable output, but the PDF/PS documentation looks awful due to lots of junk in the output. While UTF-8 is fine in the .po file, would recoding to latin1 or into groff symbols for non-ASCII characters be feasible? Or can groff now process UTF-8 input? (./configure && make pdf to test) - There have been several manpage changes since the translation was done. Thomas, would it be possible to update the translation? It's in man/po/fr.po of the above source archive, though I can send you the file if you need. Other than these hopefully minor issues, the translated manpages look beautiful, and I'll be happy to install them into the .deb once they are fixed. Thanks everyone, Roger -- .''`.
Hello, Here is an updated status; I did not encounter your problems because my upstream tarball was buggy, we should now be in sync: * a patch is needed to build with g++ 4.7 * few runtime tests fail with g++ 4.7, this is why it now Build-Depends: g++-4.6 * add Build-Depends: bc, it is needed by a single test * fix handling of the rotRPackage R package during tests It builds fine in pbuilder, but I did not yet check upgrade path from openturns 0.15. Although I didn't specifically document it in the changelog, I fixed this upstream as part of revision 1415: Wed Feb 22 03:04:45 GMT 2012 Colin Watson Optimise apropos when given many arguments (Ubuntu bug #927028). * src/whatis.c (use_grep, do_whatis, parse_name, parse_whatis, do_apropos, search): Operate on multiple pages. (use_grep, do_whatis, do_apropos): Update an output array rather than returning an int. (parse_name, parse_whatis): Update an output array as well as returning an int. (display, do_whatis_section): Constify page argument. (match): Constify lowpage and whatis arguments. (main): Process all arguments using a single call to search. * NEWS: Document this. There'd been a stray 'found++' in do_apropos that had evidently been left over from some previous version. Removing that allowed it to count accurately. I've documented this in NEWS now. A bit of archaeology establishes that I introduced this bug in 2.5.1, specifically in revision 739. That's older even than the version in lenny, which makes this fairly conclusively not a recent regression; so I think I'll just close this when I release and upload 2.6.2. Bug#672963: network-manager: add /etc/NetworkManager/VPN/ to dirs, must exist to pick up new VPN plugins
Package: network-manager Version: 0.9.4.0-3 Severity: normal Please add /etc/NetworkManager/VPN/ to network-manager.dirs. If this directory does not exist, it appears to be random whether the first VPN plugin to drop a ..name file in that directory will be correctly detected or not. On my system, it seems to be more likely than not that it will not be registered until NM is restarted. This leads to behavior where the VPN seems to be available in the gnome applet but cannot be started. Steps to reproduce: 1) dpkg --purge network-manager-{openconnect,openvpn,pptp,vpnc}{,-gnome} 2) ls /etc/NetworkManager/VPN/ 3) tail -f /var/log/daemon.log 4) apt-get install network-manager-$favorite-gnome 5) touch /etc/NetworkManager/VPN/*.name At step 2: ls: cannot access /etc/NetworkManager/VPN/: No such file or directory At step 4, no NetworkManager message shows up in daemon.log, wait as long as you like. At step 5, I see: NetworkManager[2516]: VPN: loaded org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.openconnect I have a Python script using the same gio directory monitoring functions as NM that confirms the behavior. This could potentially be reported to glib and fixed there, but the safest thing would be for NM to ensure that the directory is always present. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages network-manager depends on: ii adduser3.113+nmu1 ii dbus 1.5.12-1 ii dpkg 1.16.3 ii isc-dhcp-client4.2.2.dfsg.1-5 ii libc6 2.13-32 ii libdbus-1-31.5.12-1 ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.98-1 ii libgcrypt111.5.0-3 ii libglib2.0-0 2.32.2-1 ii libgnutls262.12.18-1 ii libgudev-1.0-0 175-3.1 ii libnl-3-2003.2.7-2 ii libnl-genl-3-200 3.2.7-2 ii libnl-route-3-200 3.2.7-2 ii libnm-glib40.9.4.0-3 ii libnm-util20.9.4.0-3 ii libpolkit-gobject-1-0 0.104-2 ii libuuid1 2.20.1-4 ii lsb-base 4.1+Debian2 ii udev 175-3.1 ii wpasupplicant 0.7.3-6 Versions of packages network-manager recommends: ii crda 1.1.2-1 ii dnsmasq-base 2.61-1 ii iptables 1.4.13-1.1 ii modemmanager 0.5.2.0-1 ii policykit-1 0.104-2 ii ppp 2.4.5-5.1 Versions of packages network-manager suggests: ii avahi-autoipd 0.6.31-1 -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#672960: Does not load modules if systemd installed, even if not booting with systemd
Package: kmod Version: 8-1 [I'd file this as RC because failing to load a module in /etc/modules could break someone's system, except that a bug in the change causes it to not take effect.] Per the changelog for kmod 8-1: * Made the init script exit without processing /etc/modules if the /etc/modules-load.d/modules.conf symlink exists. The systemd package ships this symlink, but having the systemd package installed doesn't mean that the user boots via systemd and thus loads modules via systemd; the system will only boot via systemd if the user sets init on the kernel command line or installs systemd-sysv. So, if the user has systemd installed but boots via sysvinit (a fairly common case), nothing will load the modules in /etc/modules. Fortunately, kmod 8-1 doesn't actually break this yet, because it uses $(readlink /etc/modules-load.d/modules.conf) rather than $(readlink -f /etc/modules-load.d/modules.conf), and the former returns ../modules rather than /etc/modules. When we previously discussed this, I suggested that the kmod init script could process modules-load.d itself (by processing each file in it just like /etc/modules), and that it would need to skip /etc/modules if already processed via the symlink in modules-load.d to avoid processing /etc/modules twice. (systemd overrides the kmod init script and prevents it from running it all, in favor of its own module loading mechanism, so having /etc/init.d/kmod process modules-load.d would allow the same mechanism to work either under systemd or other init systems.) However, making the second change (skipping /etc/modules) without the first (processing modules-load.d) means nothing will load the modules in /etc/modules. The following (tested) code should work to process modules-load.d the same way systemd-modules-load does, as well as processing /etc/modules if no symlink to it exists: module_files() { MODULES_LOAD_DIRS="/etc/modules-load.d /run/modules-load.d /usr/local/lib/modules-load.d /usr/lib/modules-load.d /lib/modules-load.d" processed=" " load_etc_modules=true for dir in $MODULES_LOAD_DIRS ; do for file in $(run-parts --list --regex='\.conf$' $dir 2>/dev/null || true) ; do base=$(basename $file) if echo -n "$processed" | grep -qF " $base " ; then continue fi if $load_etc_modules && [ -L $file ] && [ "$(readlink -f $file)" = "/etc/modules" ] ; then load_etc_modules=false fi processed="$processed$base " echo $file done done if $load_etc_modules ; then echo /etc/modules fi } files=$(module_files) if [ -n "$files" ] ; then grep -h '^[^#]' $files | while read module args; do [ "$module" ] || continue load_module "$module" "$args" done fi Alternatively, you might check with systemd and kmod upstreams to find out if the program currently shipped by systemd as /lib/systemd/systemd-modules-load could move to the kmod package, in which case you could just run that. - Josh Triplett -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". If someone (e.g. you) uploads the package it's not the maintainer to close the bug by uploading the package, but the sponsor (i.e. you). Thus, we would like sponsors to close the bug along their notice that they have uploaded the package which the sponsor is likely going to send anyway. -- with kind regards, Arno Töll IRC: daemonkeeper on Freenode/OFTC GnuPG Key-ID: 0x9D80F36D signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

tags 672394 + moreinfo owner 672394 ! thanks Hi Neutrom, this is a review of your package ipset. * Do not set "DM-Upload-Allowed: yes" on your own. It's your sponsor's domain to do so. It's hard enough to find sponsors as is, no need to scare off even more potential sponsors by adding DMUA for packages which show up on debian-mentors without prior agreement. * You declare the debhelper compat[ibility] to be 9, but you build depend on "debhelper (>= 9)". Please use a version which actually supports the finalized level 9. That is 9.20120115. * Do not start with uppercase characters in libipset-dev's description. You did it correctly for the other binary package, though. * Why do you use dh_autoreconf? You do not patch automake stuff and a brief test seems to confirm it is not needed. * Are you sure about the location of the binary in the file system? iptables is in /sbin, why do you install ipset to /usr/sbin? I am willing to sponsor your package if you fix the fist two concerns at very least. -- with kind regards, Arno Töll IRC: daemonkeeper on Freenode/OFTC GnuPG Key-ID: 0x9D80F36D signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Apart from acknowledging that it's my fault, I've been using all of my systems with Recommends off by default for many years, without major hiccups. I honestly don't think that the number of people switching it off is less than the ones writing downloading methods by hand... not even for cupt, but for any other packaging tool in Debian. And I guess that you can use "provides"/virtual packages for the case that you mention. If somebody is going to the trouble of writing such a method, creating a virtual package is a minor issue. Providing convenience for the vanishingly-small number of remaining m68k users is not a good enough excuse. -- Steve McIntyre, Cambridge, UK.st...@einval.com "...In the UNIX world, people tend to interpret `non-technical user' as meaning someone who's only ever written one device driver." -- Daniel Pead -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#672912: luola should build-depend on zlib1g-dev (and possibly others)
Hi Christian, 2012/5/14 Christian T. Steigies : > Is this any different than > > http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=669519 > > which has been fixed in 1.3.2-8? I built with the version available a few days ago, couldn't retrieve the build results and submit the bug reports until today, thus the synchronisation problem :-) The problem with zlib is indeed fixed. But I don't know if your program uses any other of these media formats directly (png, jpeg, wav, ogg, etc). I checked through the source code and it doesn't seem to include png.h and the like directly; and the same for configure script. If you think that the zlib and SDL modules are the only needed libraries, you can close the bug report now. I uploaded versions to unstable for all for you to test: http://packages.qa.debian.org/s/sdl-mixer1.2.html http://packages.qa.debian.org/s/sdl-image1.2.html (Most of you will probably know what I'm going to say below, please don't be offented, it's just a reminder ;-) ). Other than checking that things compile fine with the new packages, please make sure that you enable support as appropriate according to the documentantion. Relying *only* in "smoke tests", like "if it compiles with the new packages everything is good", is often not enough. In many software packages, they will happily build when some libraries are missing -- they will just disable support for that particular image/sound/whatever format (or other kind of libraries, but I guess than in this case is mostly about media formats). But then things will fail at runtime when they try to load media files, or when users add their media formats (e.g. an avatar portrait), or in new upstream versions or extradatasets containing formats not present before, etc. So please, check the README/INSTALL files provided with your packages and make sure that you enable support for all the available formats and options, when possible.
