Nevermind me, I must have been lacking some sleep :) You're right, the test spawns 10 threads (and those are the only ones that aren't joined immediatly), then, each thread + itself tries to spawn + join a thread... > Have you noticed the test behaving differently? Maybe when > pthread_join returns the process is still around? How do you know > there are extra unjoined threads? Well, no, after a quick inspection, it appears the test behaves correctly. Then, I have no idea why it would fail. 12~23 threads is well within any limit set up on my system, as far as I can tell... Bug#675140: obnam: cannot merge several exclude options in a config file
Package: obnam Version: 0.29-1 Severity: normal Hello! In a config file, I cannot use several occurrences of the 'exclude' parameter. For example, I would like to be able to do this in my config file : --- obnam.cfg --- # exclude some temp files exclude = temp # exclude other files exclude = another_temp - But doing this, --dump-config only shows the last exclude parameter specified. A workaround is to give all the exclude patterns on the same exlude line, but it makes the config file more difficult to document. Bug#675136: [ITR] templates://nova/{nova-common.templates}
Dear Debian maintainer, The Debian internationalisation team and the Debian English localisation team will soon begin the review of the debconf templates used in nova. This review takes place for all packages that use debconf to interact with users and its aims are: - to improve the use of English in all debconf templates; - to make the wording of debconf templates more consistent; - to encourage more translations of templates. Even if your first language is English, this process is likely to help track down typos or errors, and improve consistency between the debconf templates of your package and that of other packages in the distribution. The process involves both debian-l10n-english contributors and Debian translators. The details of the process are given in http://wiki.debian.org/I18n/SmithDebconfReviewProcess. I will act as the coordinator of this activity for nova. The first step of the process is to review the debconf source template file(s) of nova. This review will start on Saturday, June 02, 2012, or as soon as you acknowledge this mail with an agreement for us to carry out this process. All parts of the process will be carried out in close collaboration with you, and, unless you explicitely ask for it, no upload nor NMU will happen for nova. If you approve this process, please let us know by replying to this mail. If some work in progress on your side would conflict with such a rewrite (such as adding or removing debconf templates), please say so, and we will defer the review to later in the development cycle. Thank you for your attention. -- signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Quoting the Debian policy document: Lines starting with # without any preceding whitespace are comments lines that are only permitted in source package control files (debian/control). These comment lines are ignored, even between two continuation lines. They do not end logical lines. http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-controlfields.html It definitely seems that libparse-debcontrol-perl should allow this. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#675136: nova: [debconf_rewrite] Debconf templates and debian/control review proposal
Package: nova Version: N/A Severity: normal Dear Debian maintainer, Hello, I just noticed new or modified debconf templates appearing for this package. I would like to suggest you to consider calling for debconf templates review AND translation updates when you introduce new debconf templates or modify the existing templates in a package or, if you prefer, to send a call for translations after uploading the first version that introduces new templates or templates changes. If you're interested in suggestions for doing this, you can find some at the end of this bug report. The debian-l10n-english team will now start a review, on our own initiative. It will be conducted through this bug report. Suggestions for future debconf templates review 1) Getting debconf templates reviewed -- The Debian i18n contributors have developed a set of suggestions for the writing style of debconf templates, to give them an overall consistency all around Debian. These writing style suggestions are explained in the Developers Reference. Lintian also warns about common writing style concerns. Maintainers are welcome when they ask for a review of debconf templates and/or packages descriptions on debian-l10n-engl...@lists.debian.org. It is of course not needed to wait for someone (such as me right me) proposing you such a review. In such situations (whether the review is requested by the maintainer or proposed by someone else), someone from the debian-l10n-english team will pick up the review to do, handle it, and finally send you a bug report with the suggested templates. If you want, you can ask for being CC'ed to the various discussions when the templates are reviewed. 2) Call for new translations As soon as the templates have been reviewed, you can ask Debian translators for new translations: Just go to your package's build tree and use: $ podebconf-report-po --call This will propose you a generic mail which is to be sent to debian-i...@lists.debian.org and call for new translations. This utility will mention existing translations to avoid duplicate work. It will also attach the needed material to this mail. Please also think about giving a deadline to translators. We like deadlines..:-) 3) Always call for translation updates before uploading --- (of course only when you change the debconf templates!) If your package already includes debconf translations (ie *.po files in debian/po), please consider calling for translation updates if you happen to change something in the templates...or just in case when you release a new version. This is done with the following command: $ podebconf-report-po This will build private mails to translators (ie people listed in "Last-Translator" in the PO files) for translations that are incomplete. These mails will included the needed PO file for each translator. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (101, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-2-686-pae (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#672035: [Swig-devel] Debian Bug #672035: SWIG fails on pair
On 05/29/2012 08:41 AM, William S Fulton wrote: There are some problems with 'using' statements in SWIG and so the commit you highlighted might have exposed these problems. I'll take a closer look later, but in the meantime, could you please consider the following workaround for ZNC where you explicitly qualify std::pair. %include %template(StrPair) std::pair; The attached patch does just that and fixes the build for me. I forwarded the patch to the upstream issue as well. Please consider applying until SWIG gets fixed. Greetings, Torsten Description: Qualify access to pair with std:: for SWIG. SWIG seems to have problems with access to imported C++ namespaces. William S. Fulton suggested to work around this by qualifying std::pair in this email: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.programming.swig.devel/21772 . This patch does just that and seems to fix building with SWIG 2.0.7. In the long run this should of course be fixed in SWIG. Bug#675132: No gwyddion (2.28) thumbnailer available for Gnome 3
Package: gwyddion Version: 2.28-1 One of the features of gwyddion 2.28 is the presence of a gnome 3 thumbnailer. The file should be installed, but apparently it is not in Ubuntu. While it is compiled in the temporary building folder, it is not packaged. Upon the installation of the packages for ubuntu [1], there is no thumbnailer in /usr/share/. I am not sure if the same applies to debian, it would be good to check (I don't have any debian system to test it myself), but it affects ubuntu. No, 0.6.6-1 is not in squeeze (not even in wheezy anymore), squeeze has 0.6.3-3.2+squeeze1. AFAIK it refers to the same FTBFS because of which we scheduled 0.6.7 as intermediate release, i.e. is a duplicate of http://bugs.debian.org/670403. Anyway as this was filed against 0.6.6-1 and 0.6.7-1 has been uploaded successfully, IMHO this bug can be either merged with #670403 or closed as fixed with 0.6.7-1. Robin's fixed this on wx trunk and closed the upstream ticket, so sadly it looks like this won't get fixed in the wx 2.8 series. So I've tagged this as "wontfix" and have closed it. There's a simple workaround which works in 2.8 and should work in the future too - just don't chain the calls. Thanks for the analysis. If I am reading correctly, tst-eintr1 tries to spawn 11 child threads, one of which sends SIGUSR1 to other threads in a loop with a handler that writes '.' and the other 10 of which spawn and join a child repeatedly in a loop. At any given moment, there would be somewhere in the range of 12 to 22 active threads (1 x driver + 1 x signal source + 10 x tf1 + 0-10 x tf2). Have you noticed the test behaving differently? Maybe when pthread_join returns the process is still around? How do you know there are extra unjoined threads? I sent some time banging on this, and added some more error checking on general principle, but the error above is the best I can get right now for some reason, and I think it's likely related to the larger "why can't this combination of perl/openssl/Net::SSLeay negotiate a TLSv1 connection with that server" issue. I say that because I do get meaningful errors out Net::SSLeay on other connect failures. For instance, here's an attempt at tls-on-connect with a non-tls server: jetmore@lappy-vm2:~$ ./swaks -tlsc -p 25 -s g3 -q helo === Trying g3:25... === Connected to g3. *** TLS startup failed (connect(): error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol) And the same error response trying to connect to the server in question: jetmore@lappy-vm2:~$ ./swaks -q tls -s smtp.jaist.ac.jp -p 587 -tls [...] *** TLS startup failed (connect(): error::lib(0):func(0):reason(0)) Other than saying "it won't segfault in the next release", not sure what else to do here (though I'm open to suggestions if I'm overlooking something). --John -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#674942: ruby blocks buildd for a day (or more)
tags 674942 + patch thanks Hi, This is odd; a 1-hour timeout was just added for the ruby1.8 test suite, because this was noticed as a problem on kfreebsd-* buildds (#673594). And on some buildds like armel/armhf, mips/mipsel this new timeout was too short, so I was even going to ask about raising it. But we see ia64, also i386 and powerpc builds hung for 48+ hours now. If hung ruby1.8 processes are nonresponsive to SIGTERM, I guess 'timeout' must use SIGKILL instead (patch attached, also raising the timeout to 2h as explained). Or it could send both signals, with the -k option, but I don't see much point. Might want to do the same for ruby1.9.1 which is where this timeout was borrowed from, and 1200 seconds was much too short. (p.s. the 150-minute limit on kfreebsd-* buildds is some kind of 'inactivity' timer so it doesn't limit the entire build -- it should be okay for the test suite to run for 2+ hours even if the package build time comes to more than 150 minutes total.) Bug#674718: imagemagick bug
On Tue, 29 May 2012 11:05:51 +0200 Bastien ROUCARIES wrote: > Could you please describe what you are trying to achieve. Flatten > means some special stuff in the gif context. > > And do not use geometry but resize or thumbnail operator. I did not generate that command line invocation, so I can't really explain the justification for it. It comes from the thumbnailing code in Gallery, some imageboard software, and probably some other places. It does not seem uncommon, and works as expected (at least, how I expected it to work) in GraphicsMagick. I'm not sure I understand upstream's response, though... is he trying to say that it is expected that the provided example generates a jpg that is tens of thousands pixels wide and tall? Even though the -size and -geometry options specified a size of 217x159? Using -resize instead of -geometry doesn't seem to change this behavior, but '-layers merge' does. > Are you trying to merge all the layer ? something like this : > > convert -resize '217x159!' -layers merge 'foo.gif[0]' foo.jpg The -layers option makes this incompatible with older ImageMagick releases, and GraphicsMagick, which is possibly why various software uses the other invocation. > BTW according to upstream they are no security breach. Reading the referenced link makes me think upstream did not understand what I'm complaining about. While it is certainly reasonable for imagemagick to generate images this large, and the failure mode is understandable, why is imagemagick trying to create such a large image in this case at all? -- Andrew Deason adea...@dson.org -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#674978: missing example
It just seems >> We add a "Referer" header, as well as header to note that we can accept >> gzip encoded content, if Compress::Zlib is installed. is describing a code example, but one does not see the example on the man page. Ah, looking at /usr/share/perl5/WWW/Mechanize.pm we see he is talking about something he does in the code... well then in the POD it should say instead "This function adds" instead of "We add". Since then, a GObject-Introspection based v1.110 release is out, and the upstream Git repository has seen changes recently. The old FTBFS is gone, with the move away from XS to introspection. Hence, I plan to upload 1.110-1 to unstable soon. Does anyone mind? I've resurrected the Git packaging repository from attic, fixing a few bugs in "remove-repository -r" along the way, and I've pushed the updated packaging to pkg-perl/libclutter-perl.git, so that anyone interested can have a look. Remaining (non-blocking) issues: * Lintian warning (empty changelog.gz) --> was fixed in Git upstream since then. * The only test case segfaults in a pbuilder + xvfb-run environment, but passes flawlessly in a regular X session. So, I (sadly) disabled it. Any idea what could help making it work in pbuilder? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#673596: libc6: FTBFS on wheezy/sid amd64 (test suite failures)
I've been bitten by this bug too, and here is what I've gathered: tst-eintr1 spawns threads continuously, without joining them, until it receives a SIGALRM. This is supposed to occur take 3 seconds, which, on my computer, makes roughly 5k threads unjoined threads, which is already a large number. Now, when building from the source package, this test doesn't run for 3 seconds, but for 150 seconds due to TIMEOUTFACTOR=50... This changes the large number of 5k threads to something really huge: about 250k (potentially finished, but never joined) threads. Although I don't really know how finished-but-unjoined threads are handled, such a large number is bound to hit some limit. Regards, Thibaut Girka. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Norbert, objdump -tT /usr/lib/libkpathsea.so.6 | grep kpse_cnf_get indeed does not list kpse_cnf_get for libkpathsea6_2012.20120516-1. Bug#675122: iceweasel: Mibbit.com is being used as a "handler service" for IRC links.
Package: iceweasel Version: 10.0.4esr-3 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, *** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? I clicked on an "IRC link". ie. a irc:// style link. * What was the outcome of this action? I was offered use of a proprietary, secret code, "software as a service" service for IRC called Mibbit ar Mibbit.com. It is also a service permanently banned at Freenode. See: http://blog.freenode.net/2009/06/new-freenode-webchat-and-why-to-use-it/ * What outcome did you expect instead? I did not expect to be offered a closed SaaS like Mibbit by software on Debian. -- Package-specific info: -- Extensions information Name: Adblock Plus Location: ${PROFILE_EXTENSIONS}/{d10d0bf8-f5b5-c8b4-a8b2-2b9879e08c5d}.xpi Status: user-disabled Name: Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon Location: ${PROFILE_EXTENSIONS}/adblockpop...@jessehakanen.net.xpi Status: user-disabled Name: Default theme Location: /usr/lib/iceweasel/extensions/{972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd} Package: iceweasel Status: enabled Name: Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus Location: ${PROFILE_EXTENSIONS}/elemhidehel...@adblockplus.org.xpi Status: user-disabled Name: Fangs Location: ${PROFILE_EXTENSIONS}/{21D01944-2878-4eb3-A72A-83E8D1E6D4A6} Status: user-disabled Name: Firebug Location: ${PROFILE_EXTENSIONS}/fire...@software.joehewitt.com.xpi Status: user-disabled Name: Firemacs Location: ${PROFILE_EXTENSIONS}/{e98b7313-167d-48c6-89be-bc514d6de8d9}.xpi Status: user-disabled Name: Flashblock Location: ${PROFILE_EXTENSIONS}/{3d7eb24f-2740-49df-8937-200b1cc08f8a}.xpi Status: user-disabled Name: IE NetRenderer Location: ${PROFILE_EXTENSIONS}/ienetrenderer-n...@nc.xpi Status: user-disabled Name: It's All Text! Bug#675115: libopenmpi-dev: Fortran module support is broken again
Package: libopenmpi-dev Version: 1.4.5-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, After upgrading to the latest openmpi in wheezy (1.4.5-1) the file mpi.mod which is need to use mpi with Fortran reports version 9, when it should be version 6. This means that the gfortran version used to compile openmpi was 4.7 instead of the wheezy system standard of 4.6, resulting in mpif90 being unable to compile a simple hello world application. This problem can be resolved by either recompiling the package with gfortran-4.6, or by setting compiler used by mpif90 to gfortran-4.7; the former solution is more correct, I think, since other Fortran modules (hdf5, etc) are compiled using the system standard of gfortran-4.6. Moving forward, I think that there needs to be was to track this hidden dependency, since this is second time that the module version has prevented this package from functioning for Fortran. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages libopenmpi-dev depends on: ii libc6 2.13-32 ii libibverbs-dev 1.1.6-1 ii libopenmpi1.3 1.4.5-1 ii openmpi-common 1.4.5-1 libopenmpi-dev recommends no packages. libopenmpi-dev suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Vyas wrote: On Tue, 29 May 2012, Gedalya wrote: Since it's been announced that wheezy will be frozen by the end of June, I'm wondering what will be the fate of dovecot in wheezy. The rate of bug reports on the dovecot mailing list has slowed down considerably. 2.1.7 has just been released and it's looking like it has reached a pretty mature state. Can we have that in before the freeze? Please? :-) I am just sitting down to work on dovecot as we speak. I agree that 2.1.7 is probably what we want for wheezy so I'll try and get an upload into unstable today. Then hopefully a month or so will be enough time to shake any remaining packaging problems out. Wonderful. I think I'll go through some of the outstanding bugs and see if there is anything I can do to help, I have a feeling some are quite closeable. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#675009: swaks: dumps core in libcrypto

I don't know why the handshake isn't happening properly (I don't think it's my problem) but lack of error checking in swaks is the cause of the seg fault. The funny thing is I refactored some TLS stuff for the next release and, while doing so, added a bunch of error checking. If I test this server with the latest swaks in SVN I get this instead of the segfault: -> STARTTLS <- 220 Go ahead *** TLS startup failed (error::lib(0):func(0):reason(0)) *** STARTTLS attempted but failed -> QUIT I'll spend some time seeing if I can get a more descriptive error, but I think the basic part of the fix is already there. I see what you are seeing regarding tls1 working but not tls1_1 or tls1_2. I don't know enough to understand whether this is something I need to address in swaks itself. I could probably force specific setting similar to how s_client is working, but I've never had to get my hands that dirty before. Any thoughts on whether this is a problem somewhere else that I can ignore (other than preventing the segfault) or that I should address somehow?
