Bug#816780: roundup: CVE-2014-6276: information leak

2016-03-04 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Source: roundup
Version: 1.4.20-1
Severity: grave
Tags: security upstream fixed-upstream wheezy jessie stretch sid

Hi

https://www.debian.org/security/2016/dsa-3502:
|Ralf Schlatterbeck discovered an information leak in roundup, a
|web-based issue tracking system. An authenticated attacker could use
|it to see sensitive details about other users, including their hashed
|password.

The purpose of this bug is to have a RC bug for roundup. roundup has
long seen any new upstream releases.

>From Kai Storbeck it looks the way forward would be to have roundup
removed for unstable and stretch. Kai can you confirm that this is
still the plan vs. update to new upstream releases?

If so can you fill afer discussion with the Python App team a removal
request?

Regards,
Salvatore

The second paragraph doesn't make much sense to jump right into
without the first paragraph there to introduce it.

I've committed the first paragraph and the changes to the second one
that were missed.

As explained in bug 814430[1], I'd rather not have us package
cloudlibc and compiler-rt. What I could do is that by the time we have
a Clang and Binutils package, I could build cloudlibc and compiler-rt
as part of this package, solely for the purpose of compiling
cloudabi-reexec.

Let's keep this bug blocked on packaging the toolchain for now.

If there is a dependency between libcloudabi and cloudabi-reexec then
both must be properly packaged and in the archive.

I recommend you package the whole stack including the toolchain,
runtime library, cloudlibc etc.

I explicitly wanted to remove that since this is a user-facing page

Bug#816779: Remmina doesn't always honor scale ratio lock

2016-03-04 Thread Dark Penguin

Package: remmina
Version: 1.1.1-2

Even if the "Maintain scale ratio" button is enabled, and this is saved
in the connection, Remmina does not always honor it. This happens in
some cases on window size change, and sometimes even right after connecting.

How to reproduce:
- Connect via VNC to a computer whose screen is larger than your screen.

Expected behaviour:
- A connection window appears that takes all available space on the
screen. It has the remote screen in the center, scaled down with correct
aspect ratio, and black borders around it.

Actual behaviour:
- A connection windows appears that takes all available space on the
screen. It has the remote screen stretched to take all available space,
with wrong aspect ratio and no black borders.
- If I click the "Lock ratio" (or whatever it's called) button two times
in a row (disabling and re-enabling it), Remmina applies the ratio lock,
and black borders appear.

Having to make three additional clicks right after starting each
connection simply because Remmina forgets to apply its saved options is
annoying.

I'm using Debian Jessie x64 with MATE and all available updates - just
installed it few days ago, so it's almost "a clean installation", and
the Remmina package from the repository with VNC and RDP plugins. I
haven't tried to reproduce the bug with RDP - I don't have a suitable
RDP server available.

I insist: please stop doing that. This unecessarily slows down the Ruby
transitions as uwsgi cannot be just binNMUed to be updated.

There are other 130 packages with Ruby native extensions that work just
fine with a single Ruby package providing the native libraries for the
currently supported Ruby versions in a single binary package.

Ah and it also wastes FTP master time when processing binNEW.

I don't think it's necessary to remove the second paragraph, it's
important to the concept of Pure Blends and is not covered in the first
paragraph.

As the last message was on the 1st March, and this has been reviewed by
debian-l10n-english, I guess we've reached consensus.

Ana (in CC) has been doing some work on the blends website. I will let
her make this change in the webwml repository so she can get some

Bug#816703: regression: "mv from to" now fails when both are the same file

2016-03-04 Thread Pádraig Brady

On 03/03/16 21:24, Marc Lehmann wrote:

Package: coreutils
Version: 8.25-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

as an extension, coreutils supported moving one file to another, when both
refer to the same file.

This support has been lost after upgrading from 8.23-4 (stable) to
8.25-2. That is, in 8.25-2:

# touch a; ln -f a b; mv a b
mv: 'a' and 'b' are the same file

and both names still exist. While in 8.24-4, the "obvious" happens, i.e.
only "b" is left after the mv command.

It would be wonderful if this extension could somehow survive, as the
new behaviour is rather counter-intuitive (one expects that "mv a b", if
possible, makes b refer to a, and a is gone afterwards).

Thanks!

coreutils suggests no packages.

This changed in v8.24 with the NEWS:

  mv no longer supports moving a file to a hardlink, instead issuing an error.
  The implementation was susceptible to races in the presence of multiple mv
  instances, which could result in both hardlinks being deleted. Also on case
  insensitive file systems like HFS, mv would just remove a hardlinked 'file'
  if called like `mv file File`. The feature was added in coreutils-5.0.1.

Indeed at first glance patch seems sound but this potential UID
conflicts annoys me. Is it possible to retrieve the older FMD5 (before
the change of using nametrans) and replace only those matching the old
one ?

Bug#816680: debian-security-support: postinst script hangs when /etc/pam.d/su optimized

2016-03-04 Thread Aide Ordi 49

Le 04/03/2016 18:11, Raphael Hertzog a écrit :

Do you care to explain why you would disable that line?

You will likely break many other scripts in Debian and I don't see the
point of stopping installation for this specific case.

Cheers,

Hi Raphael!
Thanks for your answer,

In that specific case, the installation is broken because su waits in an
infinite loop that root can only break by a SIGKILL signal. After
the kill, some lock and status files prevent dpkg to remove
debian-security-support. After reboot, the package can be removed well
and the sysadmin can relax stating that nothing in APT is broken.

Here is my motivation not to allow root to invoke su without prompting
for password by default:

Debian 'out of box' is not well configured for data privacy in a
multi-user environment (see the overliberal default umask 0022).
So, as I had to review the global system specifications for my needs,
I rely on some simple fundamental rules.

One of theses rules is Occam's razor that KISS principle is derived from:
"Plurality must never be posited without necessity". And until I went to
install the package debian-security-support, I did'nt saw any necessity
for allowing root to invoke su without prompting for password.

Let me explain further with an example:
Let's say ulysses has just installed debian 7 on the family
computer, enforced the per user file insulation (UMASK 007 in
/etc/login.defs, DIR_MODE=0770 in /etc/adduser.conf) and created the
users penelope and telemachus.
Is it a necessity that ulysses could login (and spoof) as penelope and
telemachus without knowing their passwords, even if ulysses can browse
their files? I don't think so and even the program runas.exe
Microsoft Windows forbid that behaviour by default.

Moreover in that example, penelope and telemachus could never be aware
that ulysses spoof their identity for years:

telemachus@debian7:~$ cat /var/log/auth.log
cat: /var/log/auth.log: Permission denied

That's why I would prefer this login capability for root was not enabled
in /etc/pam.d/su by default.

To come back to the main subject, I'm not aware of other package that
configures using su, but I understand and agree to change my practice to
conform with the good work that debian devs have done.

What I say is just: maybe one day, another person will try to install
debian-security-support after he has customized /etc/pam.d/su.
In this case, a message via syslog or frontend provided by a preinst
script could help when su make dpkg to freeze, especialy if that person
have not enough skills to debug and understand what
/var/lib/dpkg/info/debian-security-support.postinst do.

Best regards,
Mederic.

Bug#816775: Please depend on librubyX.Y

2016-03-04 Thread Christian Hofstaedtler
Package: ruby-xapian
Version: 1.2.22-2

Dear Olly,

I don't know why, but ruby-xapian currently does not depend on
libruby2.2. As such we've missed it in the currently open ruby2.3
transition.

If you could ensure ruby-xapian depends on librubyX.Y (again?),
that'd be awesome :-)
(I think it doesn't need to depend on ruby|ruby-interpreter, if that
makes life easier.)

Many thanks!

We are down to 4 broken packages left (safe-rm, ksh, elvis-tiny,

Looks like you released a new version.

There was one issue to fix, I've taken the liberty of doing that myself.

https://lintian.debian.org/tags/copyright-should-refer-to-common-license-file-for-gpl.html
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s-copyrightfile

I added these 3 lines to the end of debian/copyright, you may want to
commit that to your git repository:

 .
 On Debian systems, the complete text of the GNU General
 Public License version 3 can be found in "/usr/share/common-licenses/GPL-3".

After fixing that issue I've uploaded it to NEW:

http://ftp-master.debian.org/new.html

Some things you may want to do/fix:

Add a manual page, you can do that automatically using either sphinx
and sphinxcontrib-autoprogram or python3-sphinx-argparse.

Add shell completion, you can do that automatically using python3-argcomplete.

The URLs in the Vcs-* fields are 404 (see duck output below), probably
you need to point them at the right branch in the github repo.

It'd be good to have an emacs autoload for `csh-mode' of csh-mode.el so
its ready for use. I suggest file debian/emacsen-startup below which
debhelper dh_installemacsen should automatically install to
/etc/emacs/site-start.d/50tcsh.el.  This doesn't create a dependency on
emacs.

Per the comments in the file I suggest leaving the emacs default sh-mode
for .csh and .tcsh files, but the autoload lets user or sysadmin select
csh-mode if they want. That will be minimum upset to anyone who likes
what they have now, especially as I couldn't tell whether one is greatly
superior or inferior to the other.

Package: src:vlc
Version: 2.2.2-4

Dear Maintainer,

with the vlc 2.2.2-4 in debian testing, the upnp-module doesn't work anymore.
This can be reproduced everytime.
Steps:
1. Start vlc
2. Select 'Universal Plug n Play' under 'Local Network'

This results in a blank screen instead of a briefly visible loading icon and
the list of the available upnp-servers in the local network. The servers are
working fine with other upnp clients and devices in the network.

The output of the vlc 'messages' system for the steps above is:

gtk+3 isn't happening right now, due to (unanswered):

Subject: [PATCH] Fix lzma write support to handle "try again" case

The liblzma-based write code needs the same tweaks that the read code
already has to cope with the situation where lzma_code returns zero the
first time through because avail_out is zero, but will do more work if
called again.

This ports the read tweaks to the write code as closely as possible
(including matching comments etc.).

Bug#816768: v4l2loopback-dkms: simply fails with "Internal data flow error" on basi usage

2016-03-04 Thread Anonymous
Package: v4l2loopback-dkms
Version: 0.8.0-4
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

After installing this package on debian stable, the kernel module is
not automatically loaded. The workaround is to run this every time:

  $ sudo modeprobe v4l2loopback

Which *appears* to have no problems according to /var/logs/kern.log:

  =8<
  Mar 4 20:51:33 host kernel: [14443.590541] Linux video capture interface:
v2.00
  Mar  4 20:51:33 host kernel: [14443.593673] v4l2loopback driver version 0.8.0
loaded
  =8<

However, the problem comes when simply trying to use it in the most
basic way.  E.g.:

  $ gst-launch-1.0 videotestsrc ! v4l2sink device=/dev/video0

results in:

  =8<
  Setting pipeline to PAUSED ...
  Pipeline is PREROLLING ...
  Pipeline is PREROLLED ...
  Setting pipeline to PLAYING ...
  New clock: GstSystemClock
  ERROR: from element /GstPipeline:pipeline0/GstVideoTestSrc:videotestsrc0:
Internal data flow error.
  Additional debug info:
  gstbasesrc.c(2933): gst_base_src_loop ():
/GstPipeline:pipeline0/GstVideoTestSrc:videotestsrc0:
  streaming task paused, reason error (-5)
  Execution ended after 0:00:00.000351581
  Setting pipeline to PAUSED ...
  Setting pipeline to READY ...
  =8<

Note that 'ls /dev/video0' shows the device is present.

If the same hardware boots Linux Mint instead of Debian stable, there
is no problem. This package installs completely, so that modprobe is
automatically run on boot, and the gstreamer test works, as well as
any other content given over gstreamer. So this is likely a problem
with the debian packaging.

Ah, I didn't consider that bug since I thought it was just for

reproduce it anyway: I've only seen it once during several years *

Hi,

hugepages don't appear to be the problem here. The root problem is that
you are requesting numa bindings (see the note in

Debian cannot yet be built with numa support (see

Bug#814456: pam-ufpidentity/1.0-1 [ITP] -- UFP Identity PAM Module

2016-03-04 Thread Richard Levenberg
I have addressed the following issues:
 * single changelog entry
 * upstream provides license
 * copyright uses same names for copyright and upstream owner
 * priority: optional
 * std-version 3.9.7
 * uncomment vcs stuff and move it to https
 * description updated, readme filled out
 * sane build system (with help from bignose and helmut; thank you)
 * Makefile creates necessary dirs, .dirs removed
 * ?= used rather than =
 * soname added

The following issues are still outstanding:
 * install as is, is required otherwise there is empty binary and no .so
is added to package.
 * --ignore-missing-info required for shlibdeps, otherwise error:

dpkg-shlibdeps -Tdebian/pam-ufpidentity.substvars
debian/pam-ufpidentity/lib/i386-linux-gnu/security/pam_ufpidentity.so
dpkg-shlibdeps: error: no dependency information found for
/usr/local/lib/libufpidentity.so.1 (used by
debian/pam-ufpidentity/lib/i386-linux-gnu/security/pam_ufpidentity.so).
dh_shlibdeps: dpkg-shlibdeps -Tdebian/pam-ufpidentity.substvars
debian/pam-ufpidentity/lib/i386-linux-gnu/security/pam_ufpidentity.so
returned exit code 2

Regarding the code size I am hoping that can be overlooked as the .so is
fully compliant PAM module. Its just that the heavy lifting is done by
PAM and the dependent library (identity4c).

Bug#815734: regression: ESS cannot be compiled

2016-03-04 Thread Norbert Preining
Dear all,

down here at Debian we got another bug report about a FTBFS, which
went away when switching to an older version of texinfo.tex:

On Thu, 03 Mar 2016, Dirk Eddelbuettel wrote:
> Ok, the obvious fix of fattening the source directory with a working copy of

I have reduced the problematic case to the following minimal example:

\input texinfo   @c -*-texinfo-*-
@setfilename ess.info
@settitle ESS -- Emacs Speaks Statistics

@macro ESS{ARG}
@acronym{ESS\ARG\}
@end macro

@ESS{}: bad

@ESS{[R]}: good

@bye

The output is:
./bla.texi:9: Argument of @gobblespaces has an extra }.

@par

   }
@doacronym ...#3@finish ->{@selectfonts @lsize #1}
  @def @temp {#2}@ifx @temp ...
l.1 @acronym{ESS@gobblespaces }
   @texinfoc
@scanmacro ...atspaces }@scantokens {#1@texinfoc }
  @aftermacro
l.9 @ESS{}
  : bad
?

Can anyone comment on this?

Thanks a lot

While the issue appears when installing libc6, I really doubt it is an
issue with this package.

Your perl installation seems completely broken. Have you done anything
related with it recently?

You should try to reinstall perl. Something like "apt-get install
--reinstall perl perl-base perl-modules-5.22" might help.

Hi,

thanks for the report. We aim to release Netbeans and OpenJDK 8 as the
default environment for Stretch. So don't expect a solution for OpenJDK
7 because it will be most likely removed from Debian before the next
freeze. I don't know why OpenJDK 7 got installed on your system because
the default is OpenJDK 8 now, but I don't think we should invest a lot
of time debugging this issue because OpenJDK 7 won't be supported for
Stretch anyway. Sorry for the inconvenience, but please switch to
OpenJDK 8 at your earliest convenience.

Regards,

Markus

Bug#207142: aptitude Bug#207142: "broken" state does not propagate to reverse dependencies

2016-03-04 Thread Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo

Control: tags -1 + wontfix

Hi,

2003-08-25 12:15 sferriol:

Package: aptitude
Version: 0.2.11.1-2
Severity: normal

i'm using apt with both stable and testing packages, but i use by
default stable packages ('APT::Default-Release "stable" ' in apt.conf).
when i try to upgrade debconf from 1.2.35 (testing) to 1.3.8 (testing)
debconf-i18n is selected to satisfy dependencies and debconf-i18n is
displayed green, but debconf-i18n needs libtext-charwidth-perl which has
package just in testing release and is displayed: 'pBA 0.04-1' in RED

so why debconf-i18n is in GREEN while one of its dependencie is RED??

Maybe in this old version it worked in a different way, but only some
packages are marked as broken so one can easily navigate to them
(pressing 'b' for example) and fix the issue.

If all KDE/GNOME/whatever packages are marked as broken just because one
small dependency has some problem that it's fixable, it would be quite
difficult to see which one is actually the problem and try to address
it.

So I don't think that it would be useful to change this. Marking it as
+wontfix (and probably closing at some point in the future).

Cheers.

Version: 0.142-8
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

when I resume from suspend by closing the lid, I get a black screen (system
is alive -- I can switch the caps light by pushing capslock key).

When I run "sudo pm-suspend", resume works fine.

I see /etc/acpi/events/lidbtn is:

event=button[ /]lid
action=/etc/acpi/lid.sh

I presume the bug is in /etc/acpi/lid.sh

After filing this bug report, I will try to run this
script, I see if this reproduces the bug.

I running with xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
and have a NVidia Quadro nvs 160M video card.

I delayed working on this bug for a long time now, since I wasn't
sure, whether I should implement this.

But now I'm sure, that it doesn't make sense to me.

lbdb works on address books and should handle addresses.

But the above mail alias isn't a normal address but it is a mail
group. That's not what lbdb is build for.

If you want these two names to be added to the lbdb response, simply
define them in your address book as two aliases and another one, that
groups them together:

alias n1 Name one
alias n2 Name two
alias Vs n1, n2

So you have, what you expect.

And it doesn't conflict with a user who defines the mail group a
different way than you:

alias Vs Group name ,

which would fail with your suggested change.

There's a small bug in the changes you made to my patch: logging.warning
should be adtlog.warning. Also, technically you missed a return path in
get_cpuflag(), since /proc/cpuinfo could contain no line that starts with
'flags'.

I've attached a patch that fixes that for me.

While test-building I also noticed quite a few lintian informational
notices about the manpages (mainly hyphen-used-as-minus-sign), but also
some spelling errors. If you want, I can provide a patch that fixes
all of those.

(Also note that lintian gives me:
W: autopkgtest: executable-not-elf-or-script
usr/share/autopkgtest/setup-commands/ubuntu-touch-session
W: autopkgtest: executable-not-elf-or-script
usr/share/autopkgtest/setup-commands/ro-apt
W: autopkgtest: executable-not-elf-or-script
usr/share/autopkgtest/setup-commands/ro-apt-update
There are no shebangs in there: is that intentional?)

Christian

I'e already took care of that in the repository.

Can you format it with format-patch, with commit message consisting of
a summary and a long description? That would be really nice.

Bug#816759: minissdpd: The minissdpd daemon is affected by an improper validation of array index vulnerability

2016-03-04 Thread Salva Peiró
Package: minissdpd
Version: 1.2.20130907-3
Justification: renders package unusable
Severity: grave
Tags: security patch

Dear Maintainer,

The following bug report provides the technical description and bug fixes
and has been extracted from the detailed security advisory
at http://speirofr.appspot.com/files/advisory/SPADV-2016-02.md

Best,

Vulnerability details
=

The minissdpd daemon (version: 1.2.20130907-3) contains a
improper validation of array index vulnerability (CWE-129)
when processing requests sent to the Unix socket at /var/run/minissdpd.sock
the Unix socket can be accessed by an unprivileged user to send invalid
request causes an out-of-bounds memory access that crashes the minissdpd
daemon.

Technical Details
=

The vulnerability can be triggered by a local unprivileged user performs
the following request:

$ echo -en '\x04\x01\x60\x8f\xff\xff\xff\x7f\x0a' | nc.openbsd -U
/var/run/minissdpd.sock

The request is processed by the processRequest() function at minissdpd.c
which identifies the request of type=4, and performs the parsing of the
"new service" request, the decoding of the length of the usn field
performed at
line 663, sets l = 0x, with p = buf+4, and n = 9, the negative
length
l=-1 passes the check at line 664 with (buf+4-1) < (buf + 9), continuing
with
the allocation of the usn field at line 673, that initialises newserv->usn =
malloc(0), where in the case of Linux malloc(3) the allocator returns a
pointer
that can be later passed to free(). The line 668 attempts to copy
0x
bytes from the message pointer p to newserv->usn, that causes the daemon to
perform an out-of-bound memory access writing outside the allocated buffer.

~~~
663 DECODELENGTH_CHECKLIMIT(l, p, buf + n);
664 if(p+l > buf+n) {
665 syslog(LOG_WARNING, "bad request (length encoding)");
666 goto error;
667 }
...
673 newserv->usn = malloc(l + 1);
674 if(!newserv->usn) {
675 syslog(LOG_ERR, "cannot allocate memory");
676 goto error;
677 }
668 memcpy(newserv->usn, p, l);
~~~

The problem is the incorrect validation on the length returned by the
DECODELENGTH_CHECKLIMIT macro at line 664, that does not consider negative
length values. The fix of the length has already been applied to the
upstream
minissdpd repository see [2], the bug happens at multiple locations after
the
DECODELENGTH_CHECKLIMIT macro that also need to be fixed:

~~~
  DECODELENGTH_CHECKLIMIT(l, p, buf + n);
- if(p+l > buf+n) {
+ if(l > (unsigned)(buf+n-p)) {
 syslog(LOG_ERR, "cannot allocate memory");
 goto error;
  }
~~~

After performing the corrections of the length check the minissdpd daemon
properly detects the invalid negative values and performs error handling.
However, the error handling code at line 753 attempts to free the undefined
memory contents that newserv = malloc() allocated at line 642.

~~~
753 if(newserv) {
754 free(newserv->st);
755 free(newserv->usn);
756 free(newserv->server);
757 free(newserv->location);
758 free(newserv);
759 newserv = NULL;
760 }
~~~

The issue is corrected by applying initialising the contents of the newserv
to zero [3].
That causes free() to correctly operate when freeing the uninitialised
struct fields.

~~~
642 newserv = malloc(sizeof(struct service));
643 if(!newserv) {
644 syslog(LOG_ERR, "cannot allocate memory");
645 goto error;
646 }
+   memset(newserv, 0, sizeof(struct service));
~~~

Solution

Apply the proposed fixes, contained in the patch below.

Bug#816758: netbeans: Warning during "Turning on modules..." when using openjdk-7

2016-03-04 Thread Kevin Carney
Package: netbeans
Version: 8.1+dfsg2-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When starting netbeans, the startup splashscreen stops during "Turning on
modules..." and a warning window is displays:

Window Title: NetBeans IDE - Warning
Text: "org.netbeans.InvalidException: StandardModule:org.netbeans.modules.db
jarFile: /usr/share/netbeans/8.1/ide/modules/org-netbeans-modules-db.jar:
java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: org/netbeans/lib/ddl/DBConnection:
Unsupported major.minor version 52.0"

Warning gives two options: "Exit" and "Disable Modules and Continue"

"Exit" does the obvious thing.

"Disable Modules and Continue" allows the startup process to finish.
Subsequent startups do not show the warning (presumably because netbeans saves
the "Disable Modules" option).

This is occuring on a fresh installation of netbeans running on a fresh
installation of Debian/testing.

It appears to be an issue with openjdk-7, which was pulled in as a dependency
while installing netbeans. I subsequently tested by installing openjdk-8, and
the problem did not occur.

To reproduce:
1. Delete my ~/.netbeans directory,
2. Switched default java to openjdk-7 with: "sudo update-java-alternatives -s
java-1.7.0-openjdk-amd64"
3. Start netbeans

After my upload of lzop/1.03-3.1, it turns out that lzop no longer
builds on powerpc, with a large number of errors like

`__ACC_UA_GET_LE16'

However, this has nothing to do with the NMU -- the previous version
lzop/1.03-3 which does not use dh-autoreconf fails in unstable, too,
while lzop/1.03-3.1 builds just fine on jessie.

Bug#816756: Useless in Debian

Package: php-pimple
Version: 1.1.1-1
Severity: serious

[ Filled as an RC-bug by the maintainer to see the package auto-removed

I packaged php-pimle as used by owncloud, but owncloud is going away,
see #816376. There is a priori little point to ship php-pimple in a
stable Debian release.

I intend to follow up with an RM request in a few months if nobody
objects (but feel free to beat me to it).

Just a quick 'thumbs up' from here -- it is actually quite remarkable that we
do maintain buildability of these pieces over so many years and decaded, and
I really appreciate how we're going calmly about the business of maintaining
that tradition.

Thanks to Norbert for distilling that minimal example out of the larger ESS

Bug#816755: fglrx-atieventsd: disappearing mouse

2016-03-04 Thread Richard Jasmin
Package: fglrx-atieventsd
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

Not sure how to fix this one, Ive only encountered it with the pre-packaged
driver for Jessie.

Once you get beyond the broker then broke state that either downgrading Xorg in
Stretch or installing fglrx in Jessie you get to this point.

[fix at this stage: aticonfig --initial again, you borked something in your
config. --or at least I did, but I cant see how.]

What happens is this:
The mouse is here...and then it isnt. This seems the most relevant package.
When the mouse goes, it runs away and hides(disappear, literally..the mouse OFF
feature) and wont come back. Clicking will not help you. The keyboard then
begins to act funny and semi-non responsive. And by funny, its not guaranteed
to alt-tab or otherwise navigate.

No, your wireless have not failed you. Your batteries are FINE.

But the system knows youre there. You can switch to a vterm and kill off X. For
now, until the mouse decides to hide again. Killing X will only bring back the
mouse for the login screen. Until it hides again. Rebooting will not help much
either.

Whack CTRL-ALT-DEL and away we gofor now. Until you login to X again...then
the mouse wants to hide.

Also:
text resolution is higher on open driver then fglrx in the vterm for some
reason

I will see further if I can replicate this issue. The driver I have is BETA
level but has been patched to run up to X 1.17 and kernel 4.3x. Original source
of the driver pre-patch was for fedora 22 at kernel v 4.0.4. The kernel header
sources were not available to build for a newer kernel for some reason. The
installer will refuse beyond X 1.17. Might be able to fudge the driver to work
for stretch.(and hopefully fedora 23)

The second you purge fglrx, the disappearing mouse issue goes away.

Thanks a lot, Gavin! The above sounds very good to me,
I'm sorry for my former misunderstanding..

Best regards, and thank you for all the efforts to make info /

No-one's said that breaking this usage is progress. It wasn't intended
and we will fix it.

The problem comes from trying to support the Texinfo macro facility,
the different ways that it's been used in different documents and
managing multiple incompatible implementations of it. It's caused
problems ever since it was introduced, maybe about 20 years ago.
Evidently these problems aren't at an end yet, despite hope. When the
fix is finalized I'll add this breaking usage to our test file to
prevent it breaking again.

Bug#816753: dpkg-dev: dpkg-buildpackage manpage misspells one of its environment variables

2016-03-04 Thread Sebastian Kuzminsky

Package: dpkg-dev
Version: 1.17.26
Severity: normal

The dpkg-buildpackage manpage claims that the environment variable to
pass a GPG key id to debsign is named DEB_SIGN_KEYID, but both the
debsign manpage and the debsign code look for a variable named
DEBSIGN_KEYID (ie, without that first "_").

The dpkg-buildpackage manpage should be updated with the correct
environment variable name.

(Note that the functioning of debsign's DEBSIGN_KEYID variable is broken
due to Bug #816688.)

On 4 March 2016 at 04:01, Norbert Preining wrote:
> The output is:

I got the same. I think it's easy enough to fix. The only possible
problem is that this error comes about due to an attempt to remove
whitespace from the start of a macro argument when the macro only
takes one argument. To fix, this would be removed, so any whitespace
after the opening brace of the macro invocation wouldn't be ignored. I
think this is okay, because people will only expect spaces following
commas separating macro arguments to be discarded. In the past, spaces
were trimmed at the beginning and end of macro arguments regardless of
the number of arguments they took, but this broke when the macro
argument had newlines which had to be significant (as far as I
remember).

Bug#816752: RM: ruby-opengraph-parser -- ROM; FTBFS, inactive upstream, replaced by ruby-open-graph-reader

2016-03-04 Thread Tomasz Nitecki
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA512

Dear ftpmasters,

ruby-opengraph-parser was used as a dependency for diaspora, however it is no
longer needed as it was replaced by ruby-open-graph-reader. At the moment,
ruby-opengraph-parser FTBFSes, contains unpatched bugs and has a very low
popcon count.

Dak shows no reverse dependencies and it's original uploader confirmed that
it can be safely removed as it was replaced by ruby-open-graph-reader.

So, please remove ruby-opengraph-parser from unstable.

Bug#816751: linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64: Boot hangs at ata_piix message under 3.16.x, but works with 3.2.x

2016-03-04 Thread Chad House
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.16.7-ckt20-1+deb8u3
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

Dear Maintainer,

This machine had been running with an up-to-date version of Wheezy for
over a year. Following a dist-upgrade to Jessie, it no longer boots
under the 3.16.x kernel, seeming to hang when loading/initializing the
ATA library. The last boot message refers to ata_piix (see below).

It boots and runs fine under the 3.2.x LTS kernel, however.

Bug#815906: postfix: upgrade to 3.0.4-3 breaks

2016-03-04 Thread Vincent Danjean
Package: postfix
Followup-For: Bug #815906

  After a downgrade to 3.0.4-1 (where I came from), I've been hit by
#815707.
  So, I removed the directory that should have been a file in the chroot
(rm -rfv /var/spool/postfix/etc/postfix/sasl/trustedCARoot.pem)
  Then, I upgraded postfix to 3.0.4-2 and I worked again :-)

  Then, I tried to upgrade again to 3.0.4-5, and I've no problems anymore.

  I first though would be that I've been hit by #815707 from the begining.
The strange part is that I've been using 3.0.4-1 since 2016-02-24 (according
to /var/log/dpkg.log*) with several reboots. Postfix was correctly working (I
cannot send mail without TLS).
  Then, today, I upgraded to 3.0.4-5 and postfix stopped working (see my
previous mail) with something that seems related to #815707.
  But, as explained just above, downgrading postfix now exhibit the
#815707 bug and mail did not work anymore! And then, upgrading to 3.0.4-2
(after manually removing the wrongly created directory in chroot) works.
And 3.0.4-5 also works.

  I do not understand.

  Regards,
Vincent

One more iteraction. This time I centred on cleaning or overriding

Thanks for these patches! I'll try to get them incorporated shortly.

Something the junk advertisers don't seem to understand: we live in an
information super-saturated world. If I don't want to buy something,
no amount of shouting or propagandizing will budge me; all it will do
is get me annoyed. On the other hand, if I have a need for your
product, I can seek it out in an eyeblink.

As I am currently neither debian developer nor debian maintainer, I
will need sponsoring on this package.

I would be happy if somebody commented on the existing debian scripts
that are currently used to build Raspbian packages from the repository
above.

I copied your debconf and it seems to work here. Can you check your logs
if the freshclam log runs at the same time as your logrorate script?
I have no idea why but it seems to be the case. Adding `delaycompress'
to the cron script should fix it.
