Hi, It would be nice if the reporter could let us know exaclty which version of Etch he tried, as Etch isn't out yet and there are install images generated almost daily on cdimage.debian.org . I installed an Etch machine yesterday using the official d-i's RC2 and I coudn't reproduce this problem. I'm using an ABNT2 keyboard as well. Also, today I dist-upgraded to sid and it's still working perfectly, both at the console and at GNOME. Regards, -- André Luís Lopes [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#392193: Please update program translation for the package shadow 1:4.0.18.1-3
Christian Perrier escreveu: Hi, Hello, You are noted as the last translator of the program translation for the shadow Debian package. This package was part of Debian Installer level 5 and though it is no more counted in this level, it has reached a very good level of translation which, as package maintainer, I'd like to keep for the release of Debian. You will now have quite few chances to make final updates so you'd better send an update as soon as possible. As counterpart, you have a formal promise from the maintainers that ANY string change will be delayed unless absolutely mandatory for a release critical issue. I would be grateful if you could take the time and update it. Finding a bug... y encountered that the package early come to etch in [2006-10-03] tzdata 2006l-1 MIGRATED What exact image are you using for the installation and what installation method? I can confirm this problem. I did a test install on the last friday (10/06/2006) and experienced exactly this problem. I did not report it yet because I was expecting to test a daily image to see if it was already fixed. The image I used was http://cdimage.debian.org/pub/weekly/i386/iso-cd/debian-testing-i386-binary-1.iso from 10/02/2006, md5sum 8fe60d622b81bd1e1ae0df128adf6313 . The installation method was using the full iso-cd image listed above from within a VMware virtual machine. Is it a full CD image or something else? It's a full CD image as noted above. Are you sure that it is a real Beta 3 image and not a weekly built image? What is the md5sum of the image? The one I tested, as said above, is a weekly built image from 10/02/2006. The md5sum is the one also noted above. Can you provide the syslog for the installation (gzipped)? Unfortunately I don't have access to this virtual machine anymore so no way to provide syslog. But I'm planning to test one of the later daily images and chech if it's already fixed. I'll try to do it on Monday as I have no testing infrastructure available at home. The initial testing I did was at a work computer on the office. - -- André Luís Lopes [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://people.debian.org/~andrelop Public GPG KeyID : 9D1B82F6 -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.5 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFFKRpzW4/i9Z0bgvYRAhECAJ9fwDSakOqAnWv68aXqUw1icTZtcACfaLIB YynK6V/6QXCS5UX4gJ8hYJA= =xVoE -END PGP SIGNATURE-

Bug#391529: Etch installer freezed by tzdata
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hello, Aurelien Jarno escreveu: reassign 391529 tzdata severity 391529 serious thanks Hi, I am now able to reproduce this bug. The problem is that the postinst of tzdata ask a question to the user, not via debconf, so it is not displayed. The bug has been triggered by the fact the version of tzdata in d-i beta3 and testing is different. The solution is to rewrite the postinst of tzdata + tzconfig using debconf. Ok, fine that you found it. However, in the meantime, I managed to setup a basic infrastructure to let me test the latest netinst image (http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/daily-builds/daily/20061008/i386/iso-cd/debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso with md5sum f256549427efa2782f0253fc29553caf). I just finished doing a test install and this time the problem didn't showed up. I don't know if there's a difference on how tzdata is installed between full CD images and netinst images but somehow this time the problem wasn't there. And yes, tzdata is installed on the target system. I just turned on the virtual machine where the test install metioned above was done and could see that tzdata is there at version 2006l-1. That was exactly the same version I had problems with on my first install in the last friday. The only difference in today's install from friday's install (apart from the former being a netinst iso-cd install from today and later being a full CD image install) is that in the later (the one which the problem was detected) I opted to install the Desktop environment task and the Standard system task. In today's install, which worked fine, I only selected the Standard system task, but tzdata was installed anyway so I don't think it had anything to do with this problem. Reporting just to let you guys know about these details. Example, I try to use synaptic my sudo password doesn't work. When I tried to change the time the sudo password didn't work. Etc.. Stratus, do you know if there's some gnome tool that let's the user run programs like these as root using sudo? Does tasksel omit installing it? Maybe gksu ? Here's what I have in my /usr/share/applications/synaptic.desktop (which is a standard file, ie, not changed by me) : Exec=gksu -u root /usr/sbin/synaptic This way when I click on GNOME's menu shortcut to run Synaptic (GNOME's frontend to APT), gksu is show and ask me for my root password before launching Synaptic as root. - -- André Luís Lopes [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://people.debian.org/~andrelop Public GPG KeyID : 9D1B82F6 -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.5 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFE4SIrW4/i9Z0bgvYRAtCUAJ9gh0DHjrn/wn1yPBMd0+JCQCMhngCcCaQj 9EBKXg0OOFZTNWj4mbYlvms= =CQLg -END PGP SIGNATURE-

Bug#373995: Please disconsider the previous translation, use this one instead
Hello, I took some time to check out the last bugzilla version in sid, 2.22-1, and found that it's already fully translated. Well, it seems that my last translation was against a very old version as I was trying to remove some past pending translations. Anyway, I also noticed that even the fully translated version wasn't encoded as UTF-8 yet and instead used ISO-8859-1. We (debian-l10n-portuguese@lists.debian.org) are in the proccess of converting all our translations from ISO-8859-1 to UTF-8 as debian-installer was changed since etch beta2 to install a UTF-8 system by default. I converted bugzilla's 2.22-1 based translation and attached it to this message. Could you plese use the one attached to this message instead of the one currently already available into bugzilla's Debian package ? Bug#294075: Please update debconf PO translation for the package apt
On Tue, Feb 08, 2005 at 05:39:52PM +0100, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi, Hello Christian, You are noted as the last translator of the apt Debian package. This package currently has two branches in Debian: -the sarge or 0.5 branch is highly likely to be the version shipped with the sarge release. The translation of this version is currently complete for your language -the maint or 0.6 branch is currently only used in the experimental branch of Debian but there is currently some discussion about pushing it to sarge because it brings very important features such as packages authentication Whether it will finally be in sarge HAS NOT BEEN DECIDED yet by the release team. However, after discussions with the release team, we decided to anticipate this by pre-requesting updates to translators. Even if the current version is kept in sarge, your update will not be wasted and will be commited in the 0.6 branch. This mail is only sent to translators with complete translations, of course. PLEASE RESPECT the Reply-To: field and send your updated translation to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For avoiding confusion, we will collect all updates in only ONE bug report.
