Bug#851312: mirror submission for mirror.nodesdirect.com

2017-02-07 Thread Donald Norwood
control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hello Daniel,

Thank you for your interest in mirroring Debian.

Your mirror submission lists amd64 i386, however your mirror carries amd64,
arm64, i386, mips64, and ppc64el.

I can update your submission to include the other architectures should you wish
to include them in your listing. Please let me know

Best regards,

Bug#826376: mirror submission for muug.ca

2016-10-01 Thread Donald Norwood
Hi Wyatt,

Sorry about the long delay in getting back to you.

Yes to your question, if you change the rsync url it would be fine. This
would at least give the mirror a uniform appearance:

Archive-ftp: /mirror/debian/
Archive-http: /mirror/debian/
Archive-rsync: /mirror/debian/
CDImage-ftp: /mirror/debian-cd/
CDImage-http: /mirror/debian-cd/
CDImage-rsync: /mirror/debian-cd/

One quick question, your /project/trace directory does not show the name
of your mirror are you mirroring directly from but is instead showing
that of: mirror3.rafal.ca. Are you running your own ftpsync script?

Best regards,

Donald Norwood

To: mirr...@debian.org

Hello Debian Mirrors Team!

I'm writing to you because we're having big issues (for days!)
downloading packages via httpredir.debian.org.

Certain packages fail with an "*Remote end closed connection*" error.

Examples:

Err http://httpredir.debian.org/debian/ jessie/main
libtext-soundex-perl armhf 3.4-1+b2
Error reading from server. Remote end closed connection [IP:
5.153.231.35 80]

Err http://httpredir.debian.org/debian/ jessie/main usbutils armhf
1:007-2
Error reading from server. Remote end closed connection [IP:
5.153.231.35 80]

It seems to be always related to the mirrors at 5.153.231.35 and
128.31.0.66.

Searches on the topic bring up many similar reports, and always these
IPs are involved:

  * https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2015/07/msg00132.html
  * https://github.com/rgeissert/http-redirector/issues/75
  * https://github.com/CGAL/cgal-testsuite-dockerfiles/issues/19
  * https://github.com/hypriot/os-rootfs/issues/38
  * https://bugs.launchpad.net/openstack-gate/+bug/1569348
  * and so on...

Perhaps you should remove those mirrors since it's months that they make
problems?

We do a lot of debootstrapping and this makes lots of builds fail.

BTW, thanks for keeping the (Debian) project alive!

Regards,
Udo Giacomozzi

Hi, first of all, awesome work with http://httpredir.debian.org/, it
works really well about 99% of the time, but of course, this e-mail is
about that remaining 1% =P

I work at C3SL (Centre of Computer Science and Free Software), and we
are the primary debian mirror in Brazil
(http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian/). The interesting thing is that inside
our network, when using debian:8 docker image, httpredir does not
resolve to our own mirror. I'm not sure which mirror it is using, but is
definetly not ours (it's pretty slow).

I've seen the message stating that "The redirector can not send users to
a local address. Use a caching proxy.", but I don't think that applies
in this case as our mirror have a public address.

I'd appreciate any tip on how to solve this. Thank you very much!

Bug#730158: mirror submission for ftp.lysator.liu.se

2016-08-21 Thread Donald Norwood
control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hello,

Apologies for the extreme delay in response time for this submission
request.

Are you still interested in being listed as on the official Debian
mirrors listing?

If so there are a few things that will need to be addressed in your
submission:

The mirror does list a tracefile in the /debian/project/trace directory.
It is highly suggested to use the ftpsync script[1] we have developed
for mirrors to use to stay in sync with the archive as well as generate
reporting files that we can use to ensure the mirror is correct.

Backports have been rolled into the archive and are no more, so there is
no need to mirror that part of the archive.
Security mirrors are generally Debian controlled mirrors, secondary
mirrors are not listed and users are advised to only use official Debian
Security mirrors.
Should you carry /debian/ and /debian-cd/ it is advisable to have
separate upstreams so that you can avoid a single point of failure, this
is just general best practice.

Please let us know if you would like to continue with your submission.

2016-08-21 Thread Donald Norwood

Hello,

Thank you for your submission to become an official Debian mirror.

In order to be listed on the official mirrors list, your mirror must
carry the source files for the architectures that the mirror carries. If
you have excluded them via the ftpsync script EXCLUDE option you will
need to enable them.

Please advise when this has been corrected.

Hi Debian mirror admins,

My mirror at rsync/ftp/http://mirror.0x.sg/debian/ (and
debian-backports, debian-cd) of all architectures has been serving
Debian for several years now, and I have an excess of bandwidth that I
believe would be a great addition to the official country mirrors
pool, especially factoring in that Southeast Asia is generally lacking
in reliable, high-speed mirrors available over more than just HTTP.

Criteria met:
Yes - The mirror should be registered (using our mirror submission form).
Yes - The site should be reliable and be up 24 hours a day. The
machine should not be heavily loaded.
Yes, 10Gbps symmetric local loop and majority NTT advertised prefixes
- It should have a decent connectivity (relative to the respective
country). Bandwidth equivalent to a 100Mbps connection or better is
preferred; note that for developed countries, this minimum is much
higher.
Yes - The routers in front of the server shouldn't have any global
access bans or major limitations of bandwidth.
Yes, not limited except automatic abuse blacklisting - The server
needs to be able to sustain the traffic, i.e. have reasonable limits
on the HTTP, FTP and rsync daemons, including tuning the maximum
number of connections in general and the maximum number of connections
from a single IP.
Yes, at least 20% free space out of a 36TB volume -Disk space
commitments (with room for expansion) — see the mirror size page.
Yes - The whole Debian archive should be mirrored.
Yes - The mirror hierarchy should be available under /debian.
Rationale: for consistency between sites — you may simply place a
symlink if you want to keep the mirror somewhere else, or set up a
virtual host.
The mirror should be made available at least via these protocols:
Yes - HTTP (http://mirror.0x.sg/debian/)
HTTP is used because with HTTP/1.1 transfers have the potential of
being more efficient than with FTP.
Yes - FTP (ftp://mirror.0x.sg/debian/)
FTP is the most senior protocol, and still very widely used.
Yes - rsync (rsync://mirror.0x.sg::debian/)
Rsync is the preferred method of mirroring, and one of the main
functions of an official mirror is to help the proliferation of
secondary mirrors.
Yes - The mirror should be updated with ftpsync, a script which
provides many required functions.
This can be arranged - please assist to provide a contact, preferably
CUHK push over IPv6 - Push mirroring needs to be set up; feel free to
contact us to get in touch with the maintainer of another mirror.

Hi Raphael,
(cc: mirr...@debian.org )

I'm writing to you to let you know that httpredir.debian.org
is sometimes unusable from Japan because
it can redirect me to China mirrors. China hosts are often inaccessible
from outside of China due to... you know. I recommend that httpredir
should select China hosts only for China users.

For example, from my home ISP, I'm redirected to inaccessible mirror
server mirrors.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn .

% curl -v http://httpredir.debian.org/debian/
* Hostname was NOT found in DNS cache
*   Trying 128.31.0.66...
* Connected to httpredir.debian.org
(128.31.0.66) port 80 (#0)

< Server: Apache
< Location: http://mirrors.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn/debian/
< Content-Type: text/plain

Also, I observed I'm sometimes redirected to mirrors.telecom.bg
, which does not make much sense for Asian
users. I totally understand IP geolocation is a very hard problem, but
there seems room for improvement in mirror selection logic.

Dear mirrors team,

According to our talk at #debian-mirrors@OFTC on 15th this month, I'm
asking to
create the ftp2.cn.d.o alt name for mirrors.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn.

Following items have been worked on and verified:
 1. Getting push from syncproxy.cna.d.o
 2. Ready to provide push for leaf mirrors
 3. Provide http/ftp/rsync service
 4. Have both IPv4 and IPv6
 5. Bandwidth: 1Gbps, upgrade is possible when utilization becomes higher
 6. Have local DDs as contact

Regards,
Aron

Referenced IRC portion below (-Donald):

we've added ftp2.cn.d.o to a whitelist so that requests
aren't redirected (and show a scary warning)
 cnote, weasel: so... any conclusion?
 happyaron yes
 cnote: what's it?
Yes to adding the ftp2.cn.d.o. Please ensure the upstream push
works and then use the mirror update submission form or send an email to
mirrors@d.o.
also, ideally your mirror would work regardless of which name
people used to access it
 cnote: thanks
 weasel: obviously sure

Bug#828693: Frequent Mirror Problems - httpredir

 Forwarded Message
Subject: Frequent Mirror Problems
Date: Fri, 24 Jun 2016 09:01:16 +0200
From: Martin Scharm
To: mirr...@debian.org

Hi mirrors team,

I am having a few problems with mirrors in the httpredir.debian.org
pool. If I try to install a lot of packages certain mirrors (or maybe it
is the httpredir service?) sometimes/often respond with an error after
downloading about 200 to 350 packages. The number of successful
downloads differs from time to time, but the problem occurs quite frequent.
That's especially annoying, as I'm developing a Docker image. So
downloaded packages won't be cached and I cannot (cleanly) run a second
apt-get call to get the remaining packages, which would still be a dirty
workaround.
In my case it's texlive-full that I'm trying to install. It feels like I
can run the same command a hundred times and it will fail in 85 cases. I
figured out that it helps to decrease the number of packages to be
downloaded. If I replace

> apt-get install -y texlive-full

with two apt-get calls

> apt-get install -y texlive-base
> apt-get install -y texlive-full

I've never seen any problems, which leads to my first hypothesis that
some mirrors seem to have problems with a lot of requests.

I first suspected that there is an issue with my network/dns settings,
but I'm developing that stuff from a university network and the Docker
servers do have the same issues building the image. Here you'll find
some automated builds of the image:
https://hub.docker.com/r/binfalse/texpile/builds/
As you see, two versions failed to build. Both did have a problem
downloading Debian packages:

* In case of
https://hub.docker.com/r/binfalse/texpile/builds/b8pvbtx94kn55jqundfcrwg/ the
mirror 128.31.0.66 didn't serve
http://httpredir.debian.org/debian/pool/main/g/gsfonts/gsfonts_8.11+urwcyr1.0.7~pre44-4.2_all.deb
* In case of
https://hub.docker.com/r/binfalse/texpile/builds/bjsdjeu8k6rbbcgsecxpkyz/ the
mirror 5.153.231.35 didn't deliver
http://httpredir.debian.org/debian/pool/main/t/texlive-extra/texlive-publishers-doc_2014.20141024-1_all.deb

Both links to the packages do work fine for me when accessed using a
browser or curl. However, that probably means nothing as I'm getting
redirected somewhere else.
If I try to download texlive-publishers-doc_2014.20141024-1_all.deb from
one of the failing servers above (naively assuming that it is supposed
to be in
/debian/pool/main/t/texlive-extra/texlive-publishers-doc_2014.20141024-1_all.deb)
I also get an error in my browser. Thus, my second hypothesis is that
there are simply some black sheep in the pool? And every once in a while
I unfortunately get redirected to a bad server? And the probability that
this happens just increases with the number of packages to be installed.

Or am I doing something wrong? It would be super cool if you could help
me with this issue. Please let me know if you need more information!

Thanks a lot for your efforts! You're doing a great thing! :)

Best wishes from Rostock,
Martin

Bug#819650: mirror submission for mirror.ba

2016-06-26 Thread Donald Norwood
Hi Emir,

1) The alias issue seems to be resolved using: deb.mirror.ba
2) /debian-cd/ is not current. Your mirror is showing version 8.4.0. The
problem here may be your upstream: churchill.acc.umu.se has changed. Use
ftp.acc.umu.se instead and it should update and sync you to the current
state of the /debian-cd/ archive.
3) Rsync is now working fine.

Bug#826651: mirror listing update for mirror.dkm.cz

2016-06-07 Thread Donald Norwood
Hi Lukas,

We generally don't advertise non DSA controlled /security/ archives, so
not having it there really is not that big of a deal, but I wanted to
ask and clarify.

Leaf servers are servers that update on a cron cycle, I.E. every x hours
(6 is our minimum), while Push-Secondary are servers that are pushed
from an upstream host.
It sounds as though you may be a leaf server. This is up to you, pushing
mirroring does provide that your copy of the archive is in sync with the
archive, there is no split or hierarchy for mirrors in the same area so
several can be leaf or pushed. We prefer pushed.

I'll update your entry and mark this as done, if you have corrections,
questions, or anything just reply and I'll take care of it.

Thank you for your support and for mirroring Debian!

Best regards,

Donald Norwood

Bug#826376: mirror submission for muug.ca

2016-06-04 Thread Donald Norwood
control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hi,

Your mirror submission looks good, but there are a few questions/issues
first.

Would it be possible for you to follow a canonical hierarchy for the
archive? Your mirror offers /mirror/debian, /debian/ would be preferred.
There is also a second access point /mirrors/.

On that same note there are varying access points in your current
hierarchy: /mirror/debian vs /debian/ vs. /debian-cd/

Preferably it should be for ftp, rsync, and http:

/debian/
/debian-cd/

Otherwise the mirror is suitable for entry onto the official mirrors
listing.

Best regards,

Donald Norwood

Bug#826115: mirror submission for debian.redimadrid.es

2016-06-03 Thread Donald Norwood
Hello,

Thank you for your support and for mirroring Debian.

You mirror needs to update once every 6 hours or 4 times per day in
order to be in sync with the archive. Otherwise the mirror looks good
for addition to the master list.

Please confirm when have made this change and we can add you to official
mirrors listing.

Best regards,

Hi,

Merged with Bug #82[1]

The trace directory indicates that this mirror has not been updated
since 20160523.

The tracefile named: mirrors.cug.edu.cn indicates the date information
in a manner that may not be readable by our mirror scanner.

Please display the README.html in your upper level directory for /debian/.

There is no need to re-submit this mirror, you may reply to this email.

Bug#502942: kebo.vlsm.org: architectures, sync script, upstream mirror

2016-04-25 Thread Donald Norwood
control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hello,

Our apologies for the long delay in closing out this item.

Looking at your /project/trace directory gives an output of several
files that seem to indicate your mirror is mirroring from another mirror
and not running its own independent syncing script? Is this the case?

Is the host name of the mirror: duwey.eepis-its.edu?
Which is the actual upstream host of this mirror?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Bug#821769: mirror listing update for mirror.verbotene.zone

2016-04-25 Thread Donald Norwood
control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hi Oliver,

You've submitted this as an update but there was no prior entry, so I've
changed this to a new submission.

Regarding the push setup, you'll need to contact the administrator of
one of the many available primary mirrors[1] who will exchange keys with
you and then push the signal to your mirror to request an update,
however your current set up of syncing 4 times per day is more than
adequate.

Could you please tell us the available bandwidth of the mirror?

Bug#822222: mirror submission for mirrors.cug.edu.cn

2016-04-25 Thread Donald Norwood
control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in running an official Debian mirror.

There are a few issues of concern prior to adding your mirror to the
listing:

The alias you have given for your mirror is not a valid domain name,
please review

There is no tracefile named after your mirror in the /project/trace/
directory. There is a tracefile named 'debian.ustc.edu.cn' which seems
to have come from your upstream mirror, in which case I assume you are
mirroring that upstream source completely and not running your own rsync
instance to mirror from that mirror. Please use the ftpsync[1] script we
have made available.

Ideally your top level /debian/ directory should display the contents of
the README.html file.

Please look into these issues, we look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Donald Norwood

Bug#819650: mirror submission for mirror.ba

2016-04-24 Thread Donald Norwood
Hi Emir,

My apologies I did not see your email response.

1) Alias issues:

The alias debian.mirror.ba points to mirror.ba.
The mirror.ba page then links to debian.mirror.ba

2) /debian-cd/ not current:

The /debian-cd/ directory is not current, your mirror has 8.2.0 and
8.2.0-live and not 8.4. Which your upstream is providing. Please check
your configuration. Are you using the ftpsync script[1] we suggest?

3) Rsync does not work:

rsync rsync://mirror.ba
rsync: failed to connect to mirror.ba (80.65.85.94): Connection refused
(111)

Please check this configuration.

> > Also the rsync works now. How do you check if the mirror has been
updated?
> > I can see it has, but you say it hasn't :)

I look at the /project/trace/ directory which holds the files that the
mirror script generates. The trace file tells us which upstream mirror
you are using, the time your mirror updated, and what the mirror is
carrying. Your tracefile only provides the date but a longer tracefile
(option EXTENDEDTRACE="full" in the ftpsync.conf file) would provide
information such as:

Sun Apr 24 16:17:57 UTC 2016
Date: Sun, 24 Apr 2016 16:17:57 +
Date-Started: Sun, 24 Apr 2016 16:04:59 +
Archive serial: 2016042403
Used ftpsync version: 20160306
Running on host: intrepid.portalus.net
Architectures: GUESSED:{ source amd64 i386}
Upstream-mirror: ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de
SSL: false
Total bytes received in rsync: 365271190
Total time spent in stage1 rsync: 417
Total time spent in stage2 rsync: 359
Total time spent in rsync: 776
Average rate: 470710 B/s

Hope that helps. :)

If you have further questions please reach out I'll do my best to walk
you through the process.

Mail on request of cnote, regarding the bad sync status of the Skynet
(now Belgacom/Proximus) Debian mirror.

My logs specifically matter for the ISO images, as
Belgacom/Skynet/Proximus grabs them from the mirror I'm hosting
(ftp.be.debian.org ), but I'm worried for the
general health of their mirror as well.

Last successful sync in 2015:

The http link ( http://ftp.debian.skynet.be/ftp/debian/, taken from the
mirror list) doesn't even work anymore.
Their cdimage (and entire contents of http://ftp.skynet.be/pub/) seems
to have vanished recently too.
No idea what their plan or update strategy is but I guess they're
silently dropping it.

I have no grudge against them, but I'd call their mirror "tainted" at best.
If they don't reply to inquiries, I'd suggest to drop 'em as a listed
mirror as many installs probably try to update using this out-of-sync
mirror.

Below the message I sent the mirror admin on September 8, 2015.
I had sent them an e-mail on 29/04/2014 as well, asking if they couldn't
generate the iso's locally - never got a reply but I did get a Read Receipt.

Hello,

Thank you for your support and for mirroring Debian!

Your submission and mirror look good with one exception, being that
rsync does not grant access to a /debian/ directory. Could you please
check your configuration?

Bug#819650: mirror submission for mirror.ba

2016-04-05 Thread Donald Norwood
Hi Emir,

Do you change the mirror structure? I swear I accessed this differently
yesterday.

The alias listed: debian.mirror.ba no longer works. It does not have to
be included and is only a minor fix.

The /debian-cd/ directory has not updated yet. Please check your
upstream provider if you are syncing and it has not updated.

The rsync mechanism fails:
rsync rsync://mirror.ba/debian-cd
@ERROR: chroot failed

It would be ideal to remove the /debian/ directory to avoid user
confusion as it appears on your http and ftp listings.

Best regards,

Donald Norwood

Bug#820058: mirror submission for mirror.wlg.tmnetwork.co.nz

2016-04-05 Thread Donald Norwood
control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hi,

The mirror submission looks good. I have a question on what you are
offering or plan to offer. On your top level directory the mirror shows:
/debian/, /debian-cd/, and /debian-security/.

There is no real need to carry /debian-security/ as the security mirrors
are official mirrors that are aliased from our top level mirrors. We do
not encourage or announce unofficial security mirrors. That being said,
if you mirror security for your own network and clients that you do so
with that understanding.

The /debian-cd/ directory is incomplete, particularly the /project/
directory. Do you plan on carrying /debian-cd/ ?

Looking forward to your response.

Bug#700600: mirror submission for mirror.jmu.edu

2016-04-05 Thread Donald Norwood
Hi Seth,

FTP is not required for Debian mirrors, so if you need to drop the
protocol it is fine. As long as you can offer up the content in some
manner http, ftp, or rsync it is functional as a mirror.

We do recommend that you use the ftpsync[1] script that we have for
mirrors as the script generates a fair amount of information in the
/project/trace/ directory, which is the directory our mirror sync
scripts and bots use to determine if a mirror is up to date, what the
mirror is carrying, and the where the mirror is syncing from. An example
of this is:

http://mirror.as35701.net/debian/project/trace/mirror.as35701.net

Tue Apr 5 10:02:32 UTC 2016
Date: Tue, 05 Apr 2016 10:02:32 +
Date-Started: Tue, 05 Apr 2016 09:55:35 +
Archive serial: 2016040502
Used ftpsync version: 20160306
Running on host: mirror.as35701.net
Architectures: GUESSED:{ source amd64 arm64 armel armhf hurd-i386 i386
ia64 kfreebsd-amd64 kfreebsd-i386 mips mips64el mipsel powerpc ppc64el
s390 s390x sparc}
Upstream-mirror: ftp.de.debian.org
SSL: false
Total bytes received in rsync: 1202350060
Total time spent in stage1 rsync: 311
Total time spent in stage2 rsync: 106
Total time spent in rsync: 417
Average rate: 288 B/s

So ideally you should be using the suggested script unless your script
can generate some of the information above.

The README.html file isn't currently displaying.

Regarding syncing: Your 2x check against debian-cd is good as it does
not update that often so that rate is fine. The /debian/ sync can be
moved to every 6 hours/ 4 times per 24h, that way if anything updates
you'll catch it.
It is worth mentioning and looking at the size of your overall mirror
operation it may be easier to set up push mirroring[1] where another
mirror sends a trigger to your mirror to update.

[1]https://ftp-master.debian.org/ftpsync.tar.gz
[2]https://www.debian.org/mirror/push_mirroring

Please let me know if you need any assistance.

Hello Emir,

Thank you for your interest in mirroring Debian.

There are a few items that need resolution for your mirror entry.

The /debian/ directory need not hold /debian-cd/. The archive is served
as /debian/ for the Debian archive and /debian-cd/ for the Debian CD
archive. I.E. /debian/ and /debian-cd/

The /debian-cd/ directory is not current, please update.

Archive mirrors need to update 4 times per 24 hours, the CD mirrors do
not need to as the images don't change that often. :) Twice a day is fine.

control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hello Joao,

There are a few issues with your mirror that need to be addressed before
we can add it to the mirrors listing.

The mirror will need to update at least 4 times within a 24 hour period.

The /debian-cd/ directory is extremely out of date, it is missing 8.3
and 8.4. Ideally check your upstream provider to find one that is current.

Would it be at all possible to have the debian directories accessed with
an easier canonical listing such as http://mirror.fccn.pt/debian/ and
http://mirror.fccn.pt/debian-cd/?

Thank you for your interest in mirroring Debian.

Bug#704599: mirror submission for debian.mirror.serveriai.lt

2016-03-22 Thread Donald Norwood
Hello,

Our apologies for the substantial delay in getting back to you in regard
to your mirror submission. Looking over the dialog there are a few
issues that still require attention.

It appears that you are not using the most recent ftpsync[1] script
available for mirrors administrators.
It would be ideal to use the ftpsync script that we provide so as to
ensure that your copy of the archive is indeed in sync with the rest of
the archive.

Your mirror is missing some files and lacks a trace-file indicating the
host that the mirror is running on.

Your mirror carries amd64, arm64, i386, mipsel64, and ppcel. Is this
correct? Your submission entry had only amd64 and i386.

Please advise when you have the opportunity.

Hi,

In reviewing your submission there are two items of concern:

The /project/trace directory does not have the hostfile which indicates
which server this is. Please use the newest ftpsync script:
ftpsync-20160306.tar.gz, it is available in your own /project/ftpsync
directory and will ensure that your copy of the archive is in sync with
the master archive and gives the proper reporting tools.

Please display the README.html file in the /debian/ directory.

Looking forward to your reply.

this file is not part of our archive and indicates that your copy is not
a true copy of the archive. Could you explain what this is?

The most recent ftpsync[1] script: ftpsync-20160306.tar.gz is available
and should be used to ensure that your copy of the archive is in sync.

Please display the README.html file in your /debian/ directory.

Please read the How-to[1] documentation for mirroring Debian.

2016-03-19 Thread Donald Norwood
control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hello Claudiu,

Our apologies for the substantial delay in getting to your mirror
submission. Are you still interested in hosting a Debian Mirror?

If so, there are a few items of note:

There is a new ftpsync[1] script used to sync your copy with the
archive. Please update to it.

Please display the README.html file in your http /debian/ directory.

Both rsync and ftp are refused on the mirror, please check your service
configuration.

Thank you for your interest in mirroring Debian!

Bug#589697: mirror submission for debian.mirrors.pair.com

2016-03-19 Thread Donald Norwood
Hello,

Sincere apologies for the delay in getting your mirror added to the
official Debian mirror list.

The mirror looks fine except for an erroneous link to /debian-cd/ in
your /debian/ directory.

Please update at least 4 timers per 24 hours to ensure your mirror is in
sync with the archive.

What is the available bandwidth of the mirror?

Bug#595336: mirror submission for mirror.telepoint.bg

2016-03-18 Thread Donald Norwood
Hello,

Our apologies for the significant delay in adding your mirror to the
official Debian mirror list.

In reviewing your mirror I've noticed that the trace files are missing
in your /debian/project/trace directory, specifically the tracefile
indicating your mirror. Please check your configuration. There is also a
new ftpsync script available in /debian/project/ftpsync/ it may be
easier to update to the newest script.

Please advise when you have the chance.

2016-03-15 Thread Donald Norwood
control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hello,

Our sincere apologies for the delay in getting back to you on your
submission.

There are 2 items of concern:

You will need to update at least 4 times per day or set up push
mirroring with your upstream, this will ensure that your copy of the
archive is in sync with the rest of the archive.

It would be highly desirable if you could display the README.html file
in the top /debian/ directory.

Could you please advise?

Bug#711944: mirror submission for debian.mirrors.linux.ro

2016-03-14 Thread Donald Norwood
Hi,

Our apologies for the substantial delay in response to your mirror
submission.

Are you still interested in becoming an official Debian mirror?

If so there are a few items of consideration:

The main archive should be located and accessible at /debian/.
The CD archive should be located and accessible at /debian-cd/.

The /project/trace directory is empty. This directory is where the
tracefiles are stored that we use to check that your mirror is up to
date and in sync with the archive.

The /indices/ directory gives a 403 Forbidden error.

Could you please re-check your configuration?

There is a new ftpsync script available for use it may be found on any
debian mirror in the /debian/project/ftpsync directory:
ftpsync-20160306.tar.gz

2016-03-11 Thread Donald Norwood
Hi Andrew,

To confirm:

You are dropping ALL and only carrying amd64 armel armhf i386 mips
mipsel powerpc.

Dropping /debian-backports/

Have the sponsor or bandwidth changed?

Currently they are:
Sponsor: mirror.0x.sg http://mirror.0x.sg/
Bandwidth: 1Gbps

Bug#817070: mirrors: project/ftpsync directory is cluttered with old ftpsync versions

2016-03-07 Thread Donald Norwood
Package: mirrors
Severity: wishlist

The /debian/project/ftpsync directory is cluttered with old ftpsync versions
back as far as 2008. LATEST.VERSION points to the current version along with
md5 and sha512sum for validation of the current version only. No need for the
older files as we insist on mirror admins using the ftpsync script and always
the newest version.

Hello,

I think there is a bug in the mirror submission script.
The documentation and the submission form itself states that the Sponsor URL
field is an optional field, however, I was unable to submit my mirror until I
filled this field. The error message was "Sponsor URL format is
http://example.com/";.

Bug#781034: mirror submission for ftp.daumkakao.com

2015-12-26 Thread Donald Norwood
Hi,

I can see that ftp.daum.net is no longer active, it has been removed
from the official mirrors listing.

Regarding ftp.daumkakao.com, it carries all architectures rather than
the ones listed in the submission, all architectures will be listed.

The mirror only updates 2 times per day. In order to stay in sync with
the archive the mirror will need to update 4 times per day.

Please advise.

Hi Aleksandr,

The alias of sunirc.eu.org does not resolve.

Is it possible to update more than once per day? Frequent updates will
ensure that your copy of the archive is synced with the main archive.

Your upstream source is: ftp.de.debian.org

The default splash page for your host is the default Apache installation
page.

Could you please check on these items?

Bug#725489: ipv6 enabled / updated maintainer

2015-11-24 Thread Donald Norwood
Hello,

Although it has been some time, are you still interested in having this
mirror listed?

If so please look into:

/project/ directory is missing the /trace/ and /experimental/ directories

The top level directory does not show the README.html file as html.

The recommended method of mirroring is with the so called ftpsync
scriptset, available in two forms:

  * as a tarball from https://ftp-master.debian.org/ftpsync.tar.gz
  * as a git repository: git clone
https://ftp-master.debian.org/git/archvsync.git

Bug#739263: mirror submission for mirror.aptus.co.tz

Hello Ali,

Are there any updates to be had for this submission?

There are few corrections and clarifications at hand:

Your mirror serves: amd64, arm64, i386, mips64, and ppc64. Is this correct?

The /project/ directory is missing the /experimental/ directory.

The /pub/debian/ does not show display the README.html file as html.

Could you please advise?

Bug#805978: mirror submission for jaran.undip.ac.id

2015-11-24 Thread Donald Norwood
Control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hi,

Thank you for your support and for mirroring Debian.

There are a few items that need clarification from your submission:

The readme.html does not display in the /debian/ directory, please
correct this.

Your submission shows amd64 and i386, however the mirror is serving:
amd64, arm64, i386, mips64el, and ppc64el. Which is correct?

You have the same upstream for the Archive and for Backports, it would
be ideal to have separate upstreams to avoid a single point of failure.

Ideally an update cycle of 4 times per day would keep your archive in
sync with the master archive.

What is the bandwidth of the mirror?

Please advise at your earliest opportunity.

Best regards,

Donald Norwood

Bug#804914: mirror listing update for ftp.utexas.edu

2015-11-15 Thread Donald Norwood
Control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hello Oscar,

Your mirror update drops several architectures and keeps only: amd64,
i386, and sparc, however the
 mirror is offering: amd64, arm64, armel, i386, ia64, kfreebsd, ppc64el,
and sparc.

Which is correct?

Does the bandwidth of 10Mbps access for external users, 1Gbps access for
UT users remain?

Best regards,

Donald Norwood

Bug#800541: mirror submission for mirror.edatel.net.co

2015-11-08 Thread Donald Norwood
Control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hello,

Please select a different Archive-upstream other than
ftp-master.debian.org, ftp.us.debian.org is fine.

The README.html does not display in your /debian/ directory.

Otherwise the submission looks good, if you could please correct those
items we can add you to the listing.

Thank you for your support and for mirroring Debian.

Best regards,
Donald Norwood

Bug#802332: Hi a new mirror both iso and archive

2015-11-02 Thread Donald Norwood
Hi Albert,

Much like other distributions, we are volunteer driven..and have delays
and backlogs.

Your original submission was responded to on 2015/10/20 asking for the
available bandwidth of the mirror along with the suggestion of choosing
a second upstream so that you have 2 separate upstream sources rather
than one -single point of failure.

In this time I've noted that your /debian/project directory is missing
the 'experimental' directory, and the /project/trace/ directory is
missing your mirror tracefile.

Please provide the requested information and resolve the newer issues.

Best regards,

Donald Norwood

Bug#801287: mirror submission for mirror.satellite-service.ru

2015-10-20 Thread Donald Norwood
Control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hello,

You have listed amd64 and i386 as the architectures however your mirror is
showing: amd64, i386, and mips64. Which is correct?

Please select a second separate upstream for one of the repositories, otherwise
you have a single point of failure for syncing with the archive.

Best regards,

Donald Norwood

Bug#802332: mirror submission for debian.hysing.is

2015-10-20 Thread Donald Norwood
Control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hello,

Your mirror submission looks good.

What is the available bandwidth of the mirror?

It is suggested that you choose a secondary source for your upstream,
having the same source for both repositories will introduce a single
point of failure, please choose a second upstream.

Best regards,

Donald Norwood

Bug#800626: mirror submission for mirror.atlantic.net

2015-10-04 Thread Donald Norwood
Hello,

Your mirror submission looks good. It would be idea to have separate
upstream sources for your mirror rather than relying on 1 and having a
single point of failure or stalled archive.
What is the available bandwidth of the mirror?

Best regards,
Donald Norwood

Bug#799156: mirror submission for mirror.applebred.net

2015-09-16 Thread Donald Norwood
Hi,

Thank you for your support and for mirroring Debian.

Regarding your submission, it would be advisable to have separate
upstream hosts for your /debian/ and /debian-backports/ repositories.
Can you select a secondary upstream?

Otherwise the entry looks good for submission to the official listing.

Best regards,

Donald Norwood

ftp.fi.debian.org suffered a disk failure and will be out of commission

Bug#735519: mirror submission for jaran.undip.ac.id

2015-09-11 Thread Donald Norwood
Control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hello,

There are a few outstanding issues regarding your mirror submission,
could you please look into:

The /debian/ directory does not display the README.

Since the time of your original submission the mirror now carries:
amd64, arm64, i386, mips64, and ppc64. Is this correct?

Are you using the suggested script for syncing with the archive?

Thank you for looking into these things,

Best regards,

Donald Norwood

Bug#760026: mirror submission for www.club.cc.cmu.edu

2015-09-11 Thread Donald Norwood
Control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hello,

Apologies for getting to your submission so late. Are you still
interested in becoming a Debian mirror?

If so, there are a few issues that will need to be resolved prior to
doing so.

Mirror is incomplete, missing most directories and the README file.

This submission is welcome if mirror is in line with the suggested
script[1] and approach to mirroring[2] Debian.
