Bug#1003118: xorg: Ignores monitor size/DPI

2022-01-04 Thread Emilian Nowak
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.7+23
Severity: normal
File: xorg
X-Debbugs-Cc: emil.no...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,
I have monitor that is correcly detected by xrand - I mean it phisical size.
I can run
xrandr --listmonitors
Monitors: 1
 0: +*DP-0 3840/597x2160/336+0+0 DP-0
Howerver everythin in cinamon and gtk is extreemy small
By running
xdpyinfo |grep dot
I can see it show 96 dots per inch.

Where is this 96 hardcoded? By dividing pixel size by phicial there should be
around 160 dpi. Why xorg is not using values he alraaydy has (in xrandr)

Yes - installing this module allows to start plasma-systemmonitor.
Thanks.

I didn't have that one, but after installing it fails with the following
message:

QQmlApplicationEngine failed to load component

If this are all some dependencies why aren't they in package dependecny ?

Dear Maintainer,
Each time I uncheck option
Edit -> Preferences -> Image -> Convenience -> "Auto rotate proofs using Exif
information"
after restart of geeqie it is still checked.
Seems like this preferece is not saved.
There is no error about that in console, neither in UI.

Thanks for tip.

Shouldn't this firefox version depend on this version of libnss3 ?

Just the usual thing what packages system does: It was part of

Bug#970221: thunar: Opening memory card does nothing - no message, no action

2020-09-13 Thread Emilian Nowak
Package: thunar
Version: 1.8.15-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
I have memory card reader on usb, when I insert card it appears in "Devices"
sidebar in Thunar. But when I click on it. Nothing happens - no progress bar,
no message, no content is displayed (attached screen-shot).

I would expect at least some message saying what is wrong, or how to fix it.

I can do same thing in „Doplhin” and out there I get message that I'm not
authorized to perform this operation. That's another problem, after some
upgrade seems I lost permissions.

Bug#962285: screengrab: Hangs when copy button is pressed - proably sync with dbus

2020-06-05 Thread Emilian Nowak
Package: screengrab
Version: 1.101-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Currently when I take a screenshot, and then press "Copy" button.
Screegrab UI freezes for around minute.

I downloaded source package and recompiled it with debugging symbols.
And it seems that it hangs on dbus communication for some reason (gdb output
attached).

Probably there is currently some problem with mine dbus-server, but should
this be done asynchronously. Notification shouldn't break normal work of
screengrab?

Bug#961255: blueman: Resource temporarily unavailable when connecting headphones

2020-05-22 Thread Emilian Nowak
Package: blueman
Version: 2.0.8-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When I try to connect my headphones I get message like this.
1. I'm not sure if this should be displayed for user. What typical user can
do with it?
2. How to solve it? I can connect those headphones using
bluedevil-wizard (another package), but I cannot do it with blueman.

Bug#765109: fglrx-driver: Black screen after xorg startup

2014-10-13 Thread Emilian Nowak
Package: fglrx-driver
Version: 1:14.9+ga14.201-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,
I'm having problems starting my Xserver. Just after it starts the screen
remains black. I can switch back to console, restart the xserver, but it
doesn't help.
I have tested on newlycreated xorg.conf using aticonfig --initial - Still
same effect.

There is one error line in Xorg.0.log
[ 4.541] (EE) AIGLX error: failed to open
/usr/X11R6/lib64/modules/dri/fglrx_dri.so,

error[/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri/fglrx_dri.so: cannot open shared obje

I don't know if it is important, but anyway there is no such file in this
location accoring to apt-file search.

Yes - I'm sure.

Neither with the file select nor with when I type the filename

Now I realized that this button is not active when you specify a file named
different than *.backup.
I didn't have files named *.backup before, so for me it was always
reproducable.

What is more interesting it happens even after switching locale to LC_ALL=C
Probably it is something wrong with wxwidgets.
In *.po (actually provided *.mo file from package) I have for example:
msgid New Object
msgstr Nowy obiekt

After changing msgstr to Nowy _obiekt makes it even worse.

I think comparing GT to MGT doesn't have much sense. GT is a software for a

It would have more sense to it with Powershell

Yes - in 0.1.1-3 everything is ok with this menu.

If the GUI is unusable, maybe it will be good to have some CLI
  interface for basic operations like:
  $ instanbul --start_recording
  ^C
  recording stopped.

I don't really think that this is a good idea.
You will end having some seconds of recording with not useful frames
(your terminal command). And IMHO it's more useable and easy to click
on a button in your taskbar than to open a terminal, start istanbul and
in the end stop it again from the terminal.

Anyway, I'm going to forward your mail upstream and wait for his
reply. Thank you for your report.
Noo, I just suggested this as a workaround for borken gui, but now it is fixed
so it's not important.

bug with the output of dpkg-architecture from the system in question?
Acually I have i386 system on first partition, and full mad64 on second
partition.
I started up my computer on i386, and later I decided to generate java-package
for my amd64. I didn't want to reboot my computer just to generate those
package.
I have checked that java-package is theoreticaly architecture-independed (the
same package for all architecures) It seems that it is shell scrip.
Sun's self-extracting tarball is shell script as well.
I hoped that It is possible to generate jre package for amd64 on i386 system,
so next time i boot on amd64 I will have this pacakge ready-to-use.
It seems that make-jkpkg is just extracting tarball and it is packing it back
to *.deb?

anyway - It's my fault, so please close this bug, or maybe there should be some
different error message saying: Error: Downloaded java is for different
architecture ?

Hello,
I just opened html history file which has 1,1MB. It took approx 30 seconds to
render this text on my P4 3,2GHz. During this rendering all gaim GUI was
freezed - it's very annoying :-P
Opening the same file in opera takes ~1sec, in firefox ~3sec.
Probably performance of this rendering engine in gaim could be better, or at
least it should be in additional thread, so it will not freeze main GUI.

Oki - I will try rebuilding it and some debugging.

But I'm afraid that there may be something wrong in other place.
Memproof uses libary pre-loading to override some libc6 function? Maybe there
is something that is blocking overriding those libc6 functions? It can't be
anything kernel-related, I don't use selinux nor patched kernel etc.. - just
clean debian kernel.

Hmm that's something new. It works with xterm, however there is no
information in memproof's main window.
At least it doesn't hnag-up. This seems to be #349295

Normally I was trying to memproof my own application, which was working with
memproof. but it was long time ago (May/Jun 2005)

Right now this app hangs memproof.

I noticed one more thing: When I was trying to run
$ memproof /usr/bin/xterm
(as a normal user) I had this error message:
** (memprof:2989): WARNING **: Can't open /proc/2990/mem
this file was readable only by root, so I made the same thing as root
# memproof /usr/bin/xterm
There was no error message, and main window of memproff was empty.
If memproof is using data from /proc/* maybe there was some change in the way
all this data is sored here?
if I do
# cat /proc/some running PID/mem
There is empty file.

Oki, thanks - now I understand. However I still can't imagine who may need
this linux32 tool. Maybe I will find out it later. It's my first day on amd64
OS. So please forgive me stupid questions :-P

The only thing linux32 has as intention to do is to make programs
believe that they're running on an i686 machine while they
actually run on an x86_64 machine, or something simular for ia64
 and things like that.

I suggest that you look at the amd64 faq at:

oki this HOWTO is great. Maybe it is a good idea to put this link in linxu32

Linux32 was the only application i found by: apt-cache search amd64.
Of course I wasn't trying to run gedit here. I have some other closed-source
application which is available for x86 linux only. Gedit was just an example.

there is nothing interesting in

Maybe we have a leftover from the diversions - alternatives move

So I know what is going on - I have binary file /usr/bin/vim, which doesn't
exist in new version of this package. Now we have vim.basic - vim, and this
symlink is made by postint script. okii so I know almost everything. The only
question is: Why I had this leftover ? Is there anything wrong with
postinst script? or maybe there was some other reason for that?

Bug#314531: gqview crash on startup

When launching gqview I get this messages :

 SWFDEC: ERROR: swfdec_font.c(158): tag_func_define_font_2: langcode 1
 zsh: segmentation fault gqview
It looks like gqview has some support for *.swf files, but it's buggy.
Probably You have some .swf file in Your home directory, and gqview reads them
on startup.
I guess it will work if you start it specyfing some other dir - for example:
gqview /

BTW: If I try to open some .swf file I got this:
SWFDEC: ERROR: swfdec_shape.c(374): swf_shape_add_styles: unknown fill style
type 0x08
segmentation fault

or this
SWFDEC: ERROR: swfdec_font.c(158): tag_func_define_font_2: langcode 1
segmentation fault
or If I have more luck there is only broken-image icon displayed.

Is there any type of those .swf working with gqview?
If .swf support is never-working maybe it should be disabled when building
package?

all problems described here were probably related to package
gtk2-engines-smooth 0.6.0.1-1.
After upgrading to gtk2-engines-smooth 0.6.0.1-3 everything works fine.

Bug#304949: kernel-image-2.6.11-1-k7: sound on emu10k1 is played multipe times.

2005-04-18 Thread Emilian Nowak
Please close this bug. My problems appear just after rebootin with new kernel,
but because I have added some other devices, and my sound-card wasn't well
connected in pci-slot.
I just moved-out my card and installed it once again in pci slot. Strange that
it was partly-working (repeated sound), and no error message.

Anyway: not a kernel problem - sorry for bothering you.

I can't get it to co-operate with TSL smtp server. Anyway this bug wasn't
depending on specific version of this package nor libaries. It is about how it
calls web-browser in general.

Please note that by default, the Debian sensible browser might be
used (ie /usr/bin/sensible-browser, which might call the browser
defined in the BROWSER environment variable, or one of
  /usr/bin/x-www-browser and /usr/bin/www-browser.

Please tell me what x-www-browser you use if you configured GNOME to
  use Debian sensible browser. Thanks.

my sensible-browser was setup correctly, but I had to set default browser in
gnome-control-center to Debian Sensible Browser. However I don't use Gnome
so I didn't know that I need to look here. Maybe it will be better to call
sensible browser directly (without checking gnome settings) ?

Bug#291029: unregister_netdevice: waiting for br0 to become free. Usage count = 1

2005-01-27 Thread Emilian Nowak
Hello,
I also noticed this error with my br0 interface. I cannot simply restart or
poweroff my computer because it hangs when bringing down networking. It's
really troublesome.
But I'm wondering If it's really problem with kernel. When my network was not
used too much I was testing this problem and I realized that if I manually
bring down all bridge_ports I can normaly turn off br0 after all.
Maybe this should be fixed in
/etc/network/if-post-down.d/bridge
from bridge-utils package ?
