The ITA owner is still Fabio. I just corrected the title that was missing some words. When there is already an ITA you should not orphan the package as it is Fabio's responsibility now. Fabio, if you do not have the time to fulfill your ITA, please reset the status to orphaned instead of RFA.

I'm adding back the (ex-)maintainer in Plone developers explicitly suggests the use of the Unified Installer for Linux and they consider it their (only) supported deployment platform. For this reason, together with the complexity of the distribution of the last versions of Plone, shipped as several python eggs with strict versioned dependencies, led to the request of removal from unstable of the Plone package. As suggested by upstream, the recommended tool for installing Plone on a Debian system is the Unified Installer, which is downloadable from http://plone.org. Is this text enough? To be honest, I run my mail servers under Xen, I run dovecot and I never had such an issue. Again, I think that having the clock going backwards by 81 seconds is a problem and should be fixed, instead of considering dovecot a time bomb. I'm pretty sure that upstream won't fix this (as stated in the wiki page), and I'm reluctant to add a wrapper script to simply restart dovecot in these situations: you would never discover the real problem. All in all, such a wrapper script is pretty easy to write if your server is affected by clock moving too fast; we can probably provide one in the package, as an example. > - warn administrators that they are installing a fragile solution during > install. This is the exact sentence which keeps me thinking that this is not an RC bug, or maybe not a bug at all until slapd does provide a script for handling updates. > The whole procedure *should* be done, so this is not a must. The package slapd doesn't provide any updater script, but without adding the schema in slapd.conf phamm can't work so the package is unusable. What the maintainer would like to have (I'm only sponsoring the package) is that the user could use phamm directly after an "aptitude install phamm" without having to read documentation or changing configuration files. > Do you unterstand the full implications and did you carefully weighed > your decision to alter the other packages configuration file (see quoted > part of the RFC)? Bug#493781: Can a package modify slapd.conf in its maintainer script?
Hello all, I need some help regarding #493781: the submitter reported the bug as grave because he thinks that modifying slapd.conf to include an extra LDAP schema from the maintainer scripts of a package (phamm-ldap in this case) is against the Debian policy. Considering that slapd.conf is not (anymore) a conffile, in my opinion this behaviour is not forbidden from the Debian policy and thus the bug report could be closed without any change to the phamm-ldap package. Of course, having an official way from the slapd package to add new schemas would be wonderful, but until this feature is added I think that this is the only possibility to automatically include a new schema in slapd.conf. Opinions? Thanks in advance, -- Fabio Tranchitella <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.''`. Thanks for your detailed explanation, I'll ask the stable release team for the inclusion of a fixed version with a better warning message. Yep, you are right and I'm wrong; I'm reopening this bug report, I'll check deeply the changes between the two releases to track down all the issues. -- Fabio Tranchitella http://www.kobold.it Free Software Developer and Consultant http://www.tranchitella.it _ 1024D/7F961564, fpr 5465 6E69 E559 6466 BF3D 9F01 2BF8 EE2B 7F96 1564 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#476952: include /etc/nginx/conf.d/*.conf entry for nginx.conf
tag 476952 +wontfix thanks Hello David, * 2008-04-20 13:14, David Dick wrote: > Package:nginx > Version:0.4.13-2 > > in order to package web applications for nginx, the packager needs a way > to add entries to the nginx.conf file. A method for doing that is > including a "include /etc/nginx/conf.d/*.conf" line in nginx.conf. While I fully agree with you, nginx doesn't support very well the situation where you don't have files inside the conf.d directory: """ Starting nginx: 2008/04/21 11:13:58 [emerg] 11300#0: glob() "/etc/nginx/conf.d/*.conf" failed (2: No such file or directory) in /etc/nginx/nginx.conf:26 nginx. """ For this reason, I'm marking this bug report as wontfix until upstream will include a feature that allows us to use the include statement in all cases or we find another way to support the conf.d directory.
