Bug#486178: bug-buddy: Should allow simple copy-paste of bug URL
Package: bug-buddy Version: 2.22.0+dfsg-2 Severity: normal After sending the bug report, bug-buddy shows a link to the bug report's URL. However, this link is a button. This makes it impossible to just copy the URL to the clipboard. In almost all cases, this is not a problem, since clicking the button will just open the page. However, when the bug is in the web browser, the URL will not open since the crashed web browser instance is still present. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages bug-buddy depends on: ii gconf2 2.22.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii gdb6.8-3 The GNU Debugger ii gnome-desktop-data 2.22.2-1 Common files for GNOME 2 desktop a ii libbonobo2-0 2.22.0-1 Bonobo CORBA interfaces library ii libc6 2.7-12GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libebook1.2-9 2.22.2-1 Client library for evolution addre ii libelfg0 0.8.10-2 an ELF object file access library ii libgconf2-42.22.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii libglib2.0-0 2.16.3-2 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome-menu2 2.22.2-1 an implementation of the freedeskt ii libgnome2-02.20.1.1-1The GNOME 2 library - runtime file ii libgnomeui-0 2.20.1.1-1The GNOME 2 libraries (User Interf ii libgnomevfs2-0 1:2.22.0-3GNOME Virtual File System (runtime ii libgtk2.0-02.12.10-2 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libgtop2-7 2.22.2-1 gtop system monitoring library ii liborbit2 1:2.14.13-0.1 libraries for ORBit2 - a CORBA ORB ii libsoup2.4-1 2.4.1-1 an HTTP library implementation in ii libstdc++6 4.3.1-2 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 2:1.1.4-2 X11 client-side library ii libxml22.6.32.dfsg-2 GNOME XML library ii rarian-compat [scrollkeepe 0.8.0-1 Rarian is a documentation meta-dat bug-buddy recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#485937: carmetal: 100% CPU and blank untitled window on startup
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Yves Combe wrote: Unfortunately, i cannot test on sun java jre. But i have experienced this kind of unexpected behaviour with ibm java6. On top on java5 carmetal works better for me. Can you please test on sun-java5-jre (install it and set it as default java). If this works better, i will change dependance for java5. This indeed works much better. However, just depending on java5 will not solve the problem, since due to the alternatives system some other java may still be the default after installing java5. In fact, my default java turned out to have been java-gcj, rather than java-6-sun (as per update-java-alternatives). Carmetal doesn't work with sun's java6 either, though. A quick check suggests you can work around this problem by: - - depending on java5 and - - invoking java5's java executable directly in the carmetal wrapper script, like so: exec /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/jre/bin/java \ -jar /usr/share/carmetal/CaRMetal.jar $@ Regards, Matijs. -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFIU1dQh3TgaXYDPEERAvQrAJ9oxKbzKeE/ksQnpqZR4RxlVvzzFACgzsVd fhUr4oDT/BDT9ivhJ+GwlqI= =er2n -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#485937: carmetal: 100% CPU and blank untitled window on startup
Package: carmetal Version: 2.8.9-1 Severity: important I have just done a fresh install of carmetal, and when I first ran it (from the command line), a blank untitled window appeared, and CPU was at 100% until I killed carmetal. Running it then from the menu showed some startup splash window for a brief period, and then nothing. Running it from the menu once more resulted in the same blank untitled window with 100% CPU. Bug#422800: Hard to say
Tim, I didn't recieve your message from Mar 8 directly, and only noticed it just now in the BTS. It's a little hard to say if IceDove handles this differently, since I'm not quite sure yet what the 'this' is that is causing Evolution to behave this way. In any case, I have not seen email disappear on IceDove. If the server is unaivalable for carrying out the move, I just get a warning: Failed to connect to server so-and-so. Oh, and yes, this bug was the reason for moving to IceDove. I have in the meantime tried to reproduce this Evolution bug, but have not succeeded yet. Package: gnucash Version: 2.2.4-1 Severity: normal When I use the 'renumber subaccounts' option from the edit menu, GnuCash changes the ordering of numbers from the original. Bug#422800: Same here, also with dovecot
Øystein Gisnås wrote: I have seen similar behavior where attempted moving of messages ends up with message being deleted (or moved to trash) at the source folder but never ends up at the target folder. There may be various reasons for that, but any general failure on the target side (think: pull the plug of the target mailserver) would give this, I think. As long as Evolution doesn't have proper transaction support for moving email, this will be more or less a problem. With proper error messages and a message instance in the trash, the user can cover up for the problem. Agreed. However, I am connected to my IMAP server over a wired LAN. Also, dovecot does log prematurely closed connections, but no such events appeared in the logs for these cases. I will therefore ask you to describe scenarios you have where (a) the message doesn't end up i trash, or (b) no error message is shown. Try to make it as easy as possible to reproduce the problem. No error message was ever shown. In the case where I attempted to move a message, it did end up in trash. In the case where I sent a message, no copy was preserved anywhere (except in the recipient's mailbox). It is my impression that the original submitter also saw no error messages, but I may be mistaken. I have just switched to IceDove for my day-to-day email tasks, but I will try to set up a dummy account using Evolution to see if I can reliably make the problem appear. Regards, Matijs van Zuijlen.

Bug#457711: texlive-metapost: mpost man page does not match reality
Package: texlive-metapost Version: 2007.dfsg.1-2 Severity: normal I am trying to run metapost in metafont-compatible mode. The man page (man mpost) has the following to say about that: mfplain.mp The Metafont-compatible mem file. This is loaded when virmp is invoked via a symbolic link as mfmp. The texlive-metapost package only includes mpost, not virmp, nor virmpost, nor are there any symbolic links to mfmp or mfmpost. And: There is also an mfplain.mem that simulates plain Metafont so that mpost can read .mf fonts. There is no such file mfplain.mem, nor is there the convenient inimpost command that could generate such a file. -- Package-specific info: If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries (latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the error in your report. Bug#453405: evince: Print scale entry misleading
Package: evince Version: 2.20.1-2 Severity: normal When the paper size of a pdf file, and evince's paper size setting are not the same, the Scale option on the Page Setup tab in the Print dialog is misleading. Bug#425113: rhythmbox: Genre nearly useless for Jamendo plugin
Package: rhythmbox Version: 0.10.0-3 Severity: wishlist The Jamendo genre field seems to be completely free-form for the album author, so in the Genre section of Rhythmbox, it now shows: Electro-Dub Electro-dub Electro Dub Electro-dub (Yes, that's an extra space) électro-dub for a total of 1748 genres, with many doubles like this. Most genres have only one artist in it (there are 2178 artists, or about 1.25 artists per genre). It would already help a lot if: - Whitespace was normalized - Case was ignored - Characters like - and , would be treated as space. This would reduce the list above to two. OTOH, it seems the Jamendo site doesn't do very much with the genre, but instead uses tags for organizing the albums. Bug#419617: Bug occurs on regular upgrade on powerpc-architecture; reopening
reopen 419617 ! thanks Hi, uim-tcode still has not been built on powerpc, arm, etc.), and I'm getting a little tired of watching uim-common's postinst fail every time I use aptitude to upgrade. So I'm reopening this bug. Part of the function of Depends and friends is to make absolutely sure that packages that need to be upgraded together are upgraded together. If proper dependencies had been set, aptitude would have just held uim-common at its old version. Thanks in advance for fixing this. -- Matijs van Zuijlen http://www.matijs.net/ signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#368779: Please make up your minds!
That's a wonderfully principled standpoint, except that there's this little known project called Firefox that doesn't quite agree with it: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=333292 So please, please make up your minds, will you? Your attitude simply means that every user of epiphany (no, not just Mourad, _every_ user of epiphany) has to either: - Be constantly annoyed by ugly pages (most likely) - Constantly manually adjust the encoding (slightly less likely, since it's so tedious) - Adjust /usr/share/xulrunner/res/charsetalias.properties (even less likely, since it isn't exactly a prominent option) - Not care (very unlikely, since those people use lynx) Just give it up, will you? iso-8859-1 has lost. The argument 'but it works in IE' was lame, but 'but it works in IE _and_ Firefox' is starting to look like a very good excuse. Yes, I'm pissed off. I apologise for any inconvenience. -- Matijs van Zuijlen http://www.matijs.net/ signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#375629: epiphany-browser: viewport jumps back when clicking to exit search mode
Package: epiphany-browser Version: 2.14.2.1-2 Severity: normal Under some circumstances, when the search box is displayed, clicking on the page results in a jump back to a previous viewport state. This can result in a different link being clicked from the one intended. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Load http://svkbook.elixus.org/nightly/en/index.html 2. Go to the end of the page 3. Click 'Multiple depots' (or another nearby link) 4. After the Multiple depots page has been loaded, go back. 5. Type '/merge', then ctrl-g until the viewport changes (three times should do it). 6. Click in the viewport. For bonus points, try clicking on a link. 7. The viewport now changes to a position that shows the 'multiple depots' link again. Bug#375463: epiphany-browser: print preview all but useless
Package: epiphany-browser Version: 2.14.2.1-2 Severity: normal For me, the main reasons to use print preview in a web browser are to see how many pages will be printed, and if everything will fit on the page (mainly, horizontally). For both functions, epiphany's print preview is useless. The example in question is an HTML export of a GnuCash report. Print preview shows four pages with everything fitting on, and my printer produces two pages with stuff falling off on the right. It looks like print preview has its own idea about what kind of paper is in my printer; from the look of it, it seems it uses a paper that is almost square or perhaps even in landscape, whereas my printer prints on portrait A4 paper. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.17-1-powerpc Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages epiphany-browser depends on: ii dbus 0.62-3simple interprocess messaging syst ii gconf2 2.14.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii gnome-icon-theme 2.14.2-1 GNOME Desktop icon theme ii iso-codes 0.51-1.1 ISO language, territory, currency ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libatk1.0-01.11.4-2 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libaudiofile0 0.2.6-6 Open-source version of SGI's audio ii libavahi-client3 0.6.10-1 Avahi client library ii libavahi-common3 0.6.10-1 Avahi common library ii libavahi-glib1 0.6.10-1 Avahi glib integration library ii libbonobo2-0 2.14.0-1 Bonobo CORBA interfaces library ii libbonoboui2-0 2.14.0-3 The Bonobo UI library ii libc6 2.3.6-15 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcairo2 1.0.4-2 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libdbus-1-20.62-3simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.62-3simple interprocess messaging syst ii libesd-alsa0 [libesd0] 0.2.36-3 Enlightened Sound Daemon (ALSA) - ii libfontconfig1 2.3.2-7 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.2.1-2 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgcc11:4.1.1-5 GCC support library ii libgconf2-42.14.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii libgcrypt111.2.2-1 LGPL Crypto library - runtime libr ii libglade2-01:2.5.1-2 library to load .glade files at ru ii libglib2.0-0 2.10.3-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome-desktop-2 2.14.2-1 Utility library for loading .deskt ii libgnome-keyring0 0.4.9-1 GNOME keyring services library ii libgnome2-02.14.1-2 The GNOME 2 library - runtime file ii libgnomecanvas2-0 2.14.0-2 A powerful object-oriented display ii libgnomeprint2.2-0 2.12.1-5 The GNOME 2.2 print architecture - ii libgnomeprintui2.2-0 2.12.1-4 GNOME 2.2 print architecture User ii libgnomeui-0 2.14.1-2 The GNOME 2 libraries (User Interf ii libgnomevfs2-0 2.14.2-1 GNOME virtual file-system (runtime ii libgnutls131.4.0-2 the GNU TLS library - runtime libr ii libgpg-error0 1.2-1 library for common error values an ii libgtk2.0-02.8.18-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libice61:1.0.0-3 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libjpeg62 6b-13 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libmozjs0d 1.8.0.4-1 The Mozilla SpiderMonkey JavaScrip ii libnspr4-0d1.8.0.4-1 NetScape Portable Runtime Library ii liborbit2 1:2.14.0-2libraries for ORBit2 - a CORBA ORB ii libpango1.0-0 1.12.3-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpng12-0 1.2.8rel-5.1 PNG library - runtime ii libpopt0 1.10-2lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii libsm6 1:1.0.0-4 X11 Session Management library ii libstartup-notification0 0.8-1 library for program launch feedbac ii libstdc++6 4.1.1-5 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libtasn1-2 1:0.2.17-2Manage ASN.1 structures (runtime) ii libx11-6 2:1.0.0-6 X11 client-side library ii libxcursor11.1.5.2-5 X cursor management library ii libxext6 1:1.0.0-4 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxfixes3 1:3.0.1.2-4 X11 miscellaneous 'fixes' extensio ii

Are you able to reproduce the bug even invoking vim file:///home/matijs/test.txt? Yes, I am. Strangely, when I look at the comments in the netrw.vim file, or even the netrw documentation, (http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=1075), I don't see any mention of the file: scheme. Is it possible that it is handled elsewhere? -- Matijs van Zuijlen http://www.matijs.net/ signature.asc Description: Digital signature

The problem for my case simply is that wpa_supplicant supports less drivers than libiw. I'm sure this will change. I have now 'fixed' wpa_supplicant's wext-driver to support the airport card. Part my fix it is a bona fide bug fix, since the WEP key setting method was broken or at least sufficiantly different from iwlib's 'reference implementation' that it didn't work. I will try to make that one into a patch. The other part is a hackish attempt at stopping the wpa_supplicant driver from issuing ioctls related to WPA when the kernel driver doesn't support them. That needs some work. In any case, my card now works when I use wpa_supplicant on its own with a configuration file. In combination with nm, it still doesn't work, but debugging is a little difficult since I seem to be missing part of wpa_supplicant's output in nm's log. -- Matijs van Zuijlen http://www.matijs.net/ signature.asc Description: Digital signature

The problem for my case simply is that wpa_supplicant supports less drivers than libiw. I'm sure this will change. The best way is to fix the driver (supporting the wext inteface) and not NM to add workarounds for each buggy driver. Chances are good that your network card will be supported in 2.6.17, they added the BCM43xx driver which should work with your card and according to [1] even support WPA. Would you mind to test 2.6.17-rc4 and report back if it works (with NM)? I have an Airport card. The BCM43xx driver is, AFAICS, for the Airport Extreme card. The Airport card is working fine with the current kernel, except the driver has no support for WPA (but I'm ok with using WEP for now). -- Matijs van Zuijlen http://www.matijs.net/ signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#364084: liferea: don't blindly call dbus-launch on startup
Package: liferea Version: 1.0.7-1 Severity: normal liferea's startup-script (/usr/bin/liferea) ends with the following lines: echo 'Neither Mozilla nor Firefox is available...' eval `dbus-launch` export DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS exec $dist_bin/liferea-bin $params This means that a new dbus-daemon is launched when liferea starts. This happens even if liferea starts at session startup. This means there is a session dbus-daemon, and a dbus-daemon for liferea, and any programs launched by liferea. This results in the following sequence of events when liferea is used together with epiphany: - Ensure liferea is running, and epiphany is not. - Launch epiphany from the Applications menu. - Load an URL in epiphany. - Click on a link in liferea. - A dialog appears asking whether to restore a crashed session of epiphany. Possibly, bug #356718 is also caused by this. That bug would not occur when trying to subscribe from an epiphany windows opened by liferea. /usr/bin/liferea should check if DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS is set before calling dbus-launch. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16-1-powerpc Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages liferea depends on: ii dbus-1-utils 0.61-5 simple interprocess messaging syst ii gconf2 2.14.0-1GNOME configuration database syste ii libatk1.0-0 1.11.4-1The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc62.3.6-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcairo21.0.4-1+b1 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libdbus-1-2 0.61-5 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.61-5 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libfontconfig1 2.3.2-5.1 generic font configuration library ii libgconf2-4 2.14.0-1GNOME configuration database syste ii libglib2.0-0 2.10.2-1The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-0 2.8.17-1The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libice6 1:1.0.0-3 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii liborbit21:2.14.0-1 libraries for ORBit2 - a CORBA ORB ii libpango1.0-01.12.1-2Layout and rendering of internatio ii libsm6 1:1.0.0-4 X11 Session Management library ii libx11-6 2:1.0.0-6 X11 client-side library ii libxcursor1 1.1.5.2-5 X cursor management library ii libxext6 1:1.0.0-4 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxi6 1:1.0.0-5 X11 Input extension library ii libxinerama1 1:1.0.1-4 X11 Xinerama extension library ii libxml2 2.6.23.dfsg.2-3 GNOME XML library ii libxrandr2 2:1.1.0.2-4 X11 RandR extension library ii libxrender1 1:0.9.0.2-4 X Rendering Extension client libra ii liferea-gtkhtml 1.0.7-1 gtkhtml-based rendering library fo ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-11 compression library - runtime liferea recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
