Bug#663518: vlc: playing files from smb share does not work since 2.0

On the other hand, it is possible that the wheezy/sid userspace is able to avoid trouble somehow. So if you have time to try 2.6.32-21 from http://snapshot.debian.org, too, to confirm you can still reproduce the problem, that would be most useful. Bug#578912: [squeeze] [R520] soft lockups with radeon KMS
Hi Jonathan, I still have the system, but I have upgraded it to a testing/unstable mix and I'm currently running the 3.2 kernel. I'm not sure if it would be reasonable to test with 2.6.32 kernel from squeeze on a wheezy system. If it is I can do that, but installing squeeze just to test it seems too much work for me now. Since nobody else seems to care about this issue and I have moved on to kernel versions where this problem does not exist I suggest to close this bug. Thanks for your help, Zsolt On Thu, Feb 9, 2012 at 9:29 AM, Jonathan Nieder jrnie...@gmail.com wrote: Hi Zsolt, Zsolt Rizsanyi wrote: Booted into 2.6.32-21, expecting the issue to be gone. To my surprise the issue is still present! I don't how this could be. It might be that it is caused by some other part of the kernel. I'm back to the 2.6.35 kernel from experimental. If you have any idea what to try or check then please ask. Trying many kernel version would be too much for me, but I would be willing to try a few version or patches. Sorry for the long quiet. Do you still have access to this system? Can you reproduce the bug with current squeeze kernels? (No particular relevant change I can think of; just would like to know before hunting for a patch to apply.) If you can still reproduce it, please attach full dmesg output from booting and reproducing the problem on an affected kernel and from booting an unaffected kernel. Thanks, Jonathan
Bug#622879: vlc: please add smb as supported protocol to .desktop file (needed for KDE)
Package: vlc Version: 1.1.9-1 Severity: wishlist Tags: patch upstream In its desktop file vlc specifies with 'Exec=vlc %U' that it can open URIs. KDE for some time assumes that only http and ftp are supported by such an application unless the destop file specifies an explicit list of supported protocols. Unfortunately this needs to be specified in a KDE specific manner using X-KDE-Protocols. As a result of this when I try to play a file from a samba share from KDE Dolphin it first tries to copy the whole video file to a temporary folder before passing it to the VLC. My patch fixes this problem. Please apply it. I have added some more protocols I found that are supported by vlc, but probably there are others too. You can add them if you want. Bug#570487: updated patches to install module-device-manager and to load it automatically in KDE
Hi! I wanted to make this work so I have applied this patch to the pulseaudio package and rebuilt it. After installing the new version I could not notice any changes in KDE. Took me some time to realize that I need to explicitly load the plugin because it is not loaded automatically from /etc/pulse/default.pa. First I have considered to just add the command there, then decided to change the package to enable this in the default configuration. But after checking out the package it turned out that Colin Guthrie (who created the module) also added some KDE specific startup scripts. I'm attaching patches to install these scripts with the module and to also fix the autostart desktop file currently used to be ignored in KDE. This way the module is automatically loaded but only in KDE. only-start-from-kde-specific.patch - this disables /etc/xdg/autostart/pulseaudio.desktop in KDE (this should probably go upstream) enable-module-device-manager.patch - install the module and the startup script desktop file (There are two patches because one should go in the patches branch and the other in the master branch.) I would like to see these patches in the next version. And I guess most KDE pulseaudio users would like to see this as soon as possible :) Regards, Zsolt commit 90956c6d9f829e5c61298effccfa1a72e1513043 Author: Zsolt Rizsanyi rizsa...@users.sourceforge.net Date: Tue Apr 13 20:12:48 2010 +0200 In KDE only start pulseaudio from the KDE specific desktop file diff --git a/src/daemon/pulseaudio.desktop.in b/src/daemon/pulseaudio.desktop.in index 99bdbd0..47b2eb4 100644 --- a/src/daemon/pulseaudio.desktop.in +++ b/src/daemon/pulseaudio.desktop.in @@ -6,5 +6,6 @@ _Comment=Start the PulseAudio Sound System Exec=start-pulseaudio-x11 Terminal=false Type=Application +NotShowIn=KDE; Categories= GenericName= commit 847c3fd34c75a333f26203d3e34133e2ea24b45c Author: Zsolt Rizsanyi rizsa...@users.sourceforge.net Date: Tue Apr 13 22:45:06 2010 +0200 Install module-device-manager and KDE specific startup files to load the module automatically diff --git a/debian/pulseaudio.install b/debian/pulseaudio.install index b925148..e954ce5 100644 --- a/debian/pulseaudio.install +++ b/debian/pulseaudio.install @@ -3,8 +3,10 @@ etc/pulse/system.pa etc/pulse/daemon.conf etc/dbus-1/system.d/pulseaudio-system.conf etc/xdg/autostart/pulseaudio.desktop +etc/xdg/autostart/pulseaudio-kde.desktop usr/bin/pulseaudio usr/bin/start-pulseaudio-x11 +usr/bin/start-pulseaudio-kde usr/lib/pulse-*/modules/libalsa-util.so usr/lib/pulse-*/modules/libcli.so usr/lib/pulse-*/modules/libprotocol-cli.so @@ -16,6 +18,7 @@ usr/lib/pulse-*/modules/module-alsa-sink.so usr/lib/pulse-*/modules/module-alsa-source.so usr/lib/pulse-*/modules/module-always-sink.so usr/lib/pulse-*/modules/module-console-kit.so +usr/lib/pulse-*/modules/module-device-manager.so usr/lib/pulse-*/modules/module-device-restore.so usr/lib/pulse-*/modules/module-stream-restore.so usr/lib/pulse-*/modules/module-cli-protocol-tcp.so

Bug#394625: kdetv: No image for ATI Radeon AIW, Xvideo overlay
On Sunday 22 October 2006 12:18, Benjamin Mesing wrote: I've tried to use kdetv to watch video using an Radeon AIW which provides Xvideo overlay. kdetv detects the card fine, labelling it as Xvideo: ATI Radeon Video Overlay (port 73), which is also what xawtv detects. However, kdetv does not display the TV-image, but only some green/cyan/mangenta/other colors in a stripe of constant height (independent of the windows size). The stripe is approx 80px high. The rest of the window remains black. TV-image works fine in xawtv. Could you please send me the output of kdetv and xawtv (run xawtv with some verbosity level, eg -v 1). Also I would like you to test the other video modes offered by kdetv to see if it those work. (You can change to video modes by the Video menu.) Besides I do not get sound in either xawtv or kdetv. You have to connect your TV card with the audio card. The sound output of the TV card has to be connected to the line-in of the sound card. Then when you are watching TV you can listen to the sound by adjusting the volume of the Line in by any mixer application. You can adjust the volume from kdetv if you properly configure the appropriate mixer module (probably alsa). Bug#284039: existing debian packages
Hi! I already maintain debian packages of kdetv. Sid packages are available at: deb http://bonca.hu/~rizsanyi/debian sid/ deb-src http://bonca.hu/~rizsanyi/debian sid/ The packages are said to be working (by at least one user), altough I don't test my package on Sid, just on Sarge. The current packages for sid where compiled after the last gcc transition with KDE 3.4, but I don't think they need a recompile now. I would like to get my packages into debian someday if somebody (eg. Frederik) would like to sponsor it. My main problem with that is that I cannot test the Sid packages I create (with pbuilder). I don't know if that is acceptable. Regards, Zsolt -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#337466: also missing libxmu-dev
Hi! It seems that libxmu-dev is also missing from the build depends. At least it won't compile without it in my sarge pbuilder environment. Looking at ./configure output I found out that it has problems doing the test for libglut. Since freeglut3-dev was already in build depends I did some more searching and found that the configure check for glut adds -lXmu to LIBS if glut is found. So I tried and it turned out that adding libxmu-dev to the wine build depends helped. I'm not sure if this dependency is also required for sid, but I don't see how it could cause any problems. It seems that feeds are only displayed after they were fetched. But the problem is that you don't get any indication about the fetching and if any error occurred. Also the configuration is broken too, because when I open the configuration dialog it shows different feeds than the feeds that are fetched. Eg. I have configured to have feeds from BBC and it worked. Later I tried to add CNN and somehow when I returned to the configuration page only CNN was displayed there, but when the feeds are fetched I only get BBC (which should not be there according to the config dialog) and I don't get CNN (which should be there).
