Bug#452590: loop-aes-utils: adding swap support to root fs on loop support

2008-03-14 Thread Max Vozeler

I've just rediscovered your bug report - sorry for

Could you describe what your (current or envisaged)
setup looks like?

I have to admit that I've never used uswsusp. I'm
happy to work on it, but I will probably need your help
to get a better understanding of what it requires.

It seems to me like it should work to look up the
swap partition in /etc/fstab, include any referenced
key files, and then just losetup the device during
boot before uswsusp runs?

Max

// Pre-configure all packages with debconf before they are installed.
// If you don't like it, comment it out.
DPkg::Pre-Install-Pkgs {"/usr/sbin/dpkg-preconfigure --apt || true";};

Unless it's really required to be that way, could you fix that?

I really dislike this limitation

I wouldn't do this, I'd just keep the current postinst script and ask the question when doing the
automatic detection at low priority, to avoid user interaction and require interaction only in the
exceptional situation when the autodetection failed (that should only happen only when there's no
deb line in any of the sources.list files).

What do you say?

Bug#470933: task component: cannot change task priority

2008-03-14 Thread Petr Gajdusek
Package: evolution
Version: 2.12.3-1.1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Hi, I have following problem in task component.

When I enable displaying of priority column in task list I can click on
any task and choose new priority for it. Unfortunately its priority is
always set to "undefined".

This bug appears only in partially localized evolution (in my case into
Czech language). Priority names in priority column are translated but
they are English in combo in which I can choose new priority. I have no
problem if evolution is started with posix locale.

I think this is a bug. Correct behaviour of application should not
depend on translation state.

DPkg::Pre-Install-Pkgs {"/usr/sbin/dpkg-preconfigure --apt || true";};

About this debconf(7) says:

Preconfiguring packages
   Debconf can configure packages before they are even installed onto your system. This
is  useful
   because it lets all the questions the packages are going to ask be asked at the
beginning of an

   install, so the rest of the install can proceed while you are away
getting a cup of coffee.

   If you use apt (version 0.5 or above), and you have apt-utils installed, each package apt
 installs

   will be automatically preconfigured. This is controlled via
/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/70debconf

   Sometimes you might want to preconfigure a package by hand, when you’re not installing it
with apt.
   You can use dpkg-preconfigure (8) to do that, just pass it the filenames of the packages you
want  to

   preconfigure. You will need apt-utils installed for that to work.

Unless it's really required to be that way, could you fix that?

I really dislike this limitation

I wouldn't do this, I'd just keep the current postinst script and ask

situation when the autodetection failed (that should only happen only
when there's no deb line in any of the sources.list files).

Just looked over debconf (7) and I must say that we can safely use a low prio for the default
detection question:

Priorities
   Another nice feature of debconf is that the questions it asks you are prioritized. If you
don’t  want
   to be bothered about every little thing, you can set up debconf to only ask you the most
important
   questions. On the other hand, if you are a control freak, you can make it show you all
questions.

   Each question has a priority. In increasing order of importance:

   lowVery trivial questions that have defaults that will work in the
vast majority of cases.

   medium Normal questions that have reasonable defaults.

   high Questions that don’t have a reasonable default.

Since in the vast majority of cases the sources list will contain a 'deb http...' source, I'd say
this is safe.

What do you say?

Right, I was just able to reproduce the bug on an Ubuntu feisty machine

The xteddy package is actually the same binary on both.

inserted in the rcS.d/ directory. This is always wrong and 'S' should
be removed from the Default-Stop header. Also, the script need a

I believe that the problem I am reporting, though
specific to querybts, is related to this bug. Please
refile if not.

My problem is only with querybts, and not reportug.

When I view a bug using querybts (eg:- "querybts fuse-utils"),
and select a bug number (eg:- "2"). and then hit "x", I am
supposed to able to report more info on that bug.

Instead, querybts simply exits, without any info.

I have just upgraded to python-central 0.6.1,
python-support 0.7.7, (and am encountering some
problems with fuse-utils, hence used querybts)

Bug#470936: VT switching results in scrambled colors with -depth 24

2008-03-14 Thread Ivan Shmakov
Package: xserver-xorg-video-vesa
Version: 1:1.3.0-1

I use the following command to start X:

# Xorg :1 vt11 -depth 24 -allowMouseOpenFail -query localhost &

with an ATI card:

$ lspci
...
04:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon HD 2400 PRO
...
$

configured to use the generic `vesa' driver:

$ cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf
...
Section "Device"
Identifier  "Generic Video Card"
Driver  "vesa"
BusID   "PCI:4:0:0"
EndSection
...
$

The X server starts fine, but the colors get scrambled after the
first switch to a non-X VT and back. The problem disappears
when running X with `-depth 16', like:

# Xorg :1 vt11 -depth 16 -allowMouseOpenFail -query localhost &

The only way to get back to the normal ``palette'' was to
restart the server.

I didn't check precisely, but it seems that after returning to a
24-bit mode, the card is misconfigured to interpret the color
components as having fewer bits than it's expected; something
like interpreting R, G, B as (mod 64) instead of (mod 256).

It looks like that comments to [1], and [2], describe a similar
misbehaviour.

Bug#470935: postgresql-8.3: Problem with LSB header in init.d script

User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Usertags: incorrect-dependency

I just checked the boot order in unstable on a machine with dependency
based boot sequencing enabled, and discovered a problem with the
init.d scripts provided in the postgresql-8.3 package. A stop symlink
is inserted in the rcS.d/ directory. This is always wrong and 'S'
should be removed from the Default-Stop header. Also, the script need
a mounted /usr/ and should thus depend on $remote_fs, not $local_fs.

Here is a patch to solve these issues.

The current version of this package doesn't give this warning, so
something must have changed. I gather you either just uploaded this or
haven't yet? I don't see it in the archive yet.

The warning is based on file output and wouldn't have been issued for the
file output you show above, so something weird is going on.

Bug#470444: patch to fix this bug

2008-03-14 Thread Varun Hiremath
tags 470441 +patch
thanks

Hi,
  Please find attached a patch to fix FTBFS bugs in packages using the
  OBEX_CLIENT variable.

  In the latest cvs version of libopenobex OBEX_CLIENT and OBEX_SERVER
  variables in openobex/obex_const.h have been renamed to
  OBEX_MODE_CLIENT and OBEX_MODE_SERVER resulting in FTBFS of packages
  using the old variables. I have redefined the old variables for
  backward compatibility.

I already tried with one of the betas (1.3.13, IIRC) and the problem seemed
to be fixed. However, the WML snippet seems to have changed as well (it now
uses $unit instead of explicitely storing).

In either case I consider it OK to close.

Version:  1:7.0.19

I just checked the boot order in unstable on a machine with dependency
based boot sequencing enabled, and discovered a problem with the
init.d scripts provided in the x11-common package. The script depend
on $remote_fs, while there is nothing as far as I can see that need
more than a mounted /tmp/, which is available with $local_fs. Also,
it depend on $named while running from rcS.d/. This do not make
sense, as all $named implementations is executed after rcS.d/ scripts
are executed. None of these issues are fatal now, but make the boot
ordering less optimal. IT would become fatal if any of the $named
implementations depend on x11-common. I'm not aware of any such issue
today.

Here is a patch to solve these issues.

I don't want to enable it as-is, since it's normal to not include the
upstream changelog in every separate binary package (and I think that's
legitimate; it can be a significant waste of space for packages that are
broken out into a lot of separate library packages, for instance, and have
large changelogs).

It may make sense to enable at the info level when only one binary package
is built from a given source package, but lintian has no way of knowing
that's the case while doing binary package checks.

I don't see a good way to enable this tag that wouldn't produce tons and
tons of false positives, more than I'd be comfortable with even at the
info level. All the good ideas that I can come up with (such as warning
if upstream contains a non-empty NEWS or ChangeLog or CHANGES file that
isn't being installed) require knowledge of the source package and the
binary package at the same time, which structurally lintian doesn't have.
I may be missing some neat way of handling it, though

something for those bothered by 'bsddb.db.DBRunRecoveryError' messages:

sudo aptitude purge apt-listchanges

Everything seems to be fine afterwards again.

Until you find a real solution you could include this information in a

Bug#202605: pm-utils resume script

2008-03-14 Thread Teemu Ikonen
Hi,

The attached script, when installed as /etc/pm/sleep.d/anacron fixes
this problem for my Gnome desktop (and probably for other popular
desktop environments as well).

Currently anacron contains the script /etc/apm/event.d/anacron which
launches anacron during APM resume and when AC power is plugged in,
but since not all systems use apm, this script should perhaps be
removed, or at least edited to launch anacron only when AC power is
connected.

Best,

Bug#470944: xkb-data: Duplicate entries for audio keys in section 'inspiron' of 'inet' symbols file

2008-03-14 Thread Lionel Vaux
Package: xkb-data
Version: 0.9-4
Severity: normal

Hi,

The section about 'inspiron' multimedia keys in file
/usr/share/X11/symbols/inet is:

  partial alphanumeric_keys
  xkb_symbols "inspiron" {
  key{   [ XF86AudioStop ]   };
  key{   [ XF86AudioNext ]   };
  key{   [ XF86AudioPrev ]   };

This introduces duplicate entries for symbols XF86AudioStop, XF86AudioNext,

XKeysymToKeycode returns keycode: 129
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:

(notice the 'XKeysymToKeycode returns keycode: 129' line) and X11 clients do
not handle correctly the corresponding symbols (for instance fluxbox misses
those keypresses).

Removing duplicate entries as follows:

partial alphanumeric_keys
xkb_symbols "inspiron" {

};

solved this problem on my Inspiron 6400. The output of xev becomes

  KeyPress event, serial 29, synthetic NO, window 0x1a1,

  state 0x0, keycode 162 (keysym 0x1008ff14, XF86AudioPlay), same_screen

and fluxbox catches audio keys correctly.

Cheers,
iouri.

Bug#470945: gnome-terminal: --geometry broken for multiple windows

2008-03-14 Thread Erich Schubert
Package: gnome-terminal
Version: 2.22.0-1
Severity: normal

I used to open my terminals with this script:
exec gnome-terminal \
--window --geometry +160+25 \
--window --geometry +739+25 \
--window --geometry +160+435 \
--window --geometry +739+435

The gnome-terminal manpage says:
--geometry=GEOMETRY
X geometry specification (see "X" man page), can be
specified once per window to be opened.

Up to version 2.18.4 this worked fine.
Now only the last --geometry is used (for the last window, the others
are placed by the window manager apparently)

I cannot reproduce this problem here -

I'm successfully using NFS with and without autofs.

Could you please send the output produced by those
following commands :

  ls -l /bin/mount* /sbin/mount.nfs*
  dpkg-divert --list /bin/mount
  dpkg -s mount loop-aes-utils nfs-common

Just guessing as to what the problem could be -

If the mount package is an old version that predates
the switch to using mount.nfs, it could be that the new
nfs-common was not automatically installed?

In any case, if you need nfs mounts urgently, you
should be able to use mount.orig 10.0.0.5:/ .. until
we work out where this bug is caused.

Max

Bug#470941: loop-aes-utils: breaks nfs mounts (and thus automount etc.)

2008-03-14 Thread Marc Lehmann
Package: loop-aes-utils
Version: 2.13.1-1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

after installing loop-aes-utils, automount failed to be able to mount nfs
volumes, and indeed, mount no longer is able to do nfs mounts:

   # mount 10.0.0.5:/ /mnt
   mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on 10.0.0.5:/,
  missing codepage or helper program, or other error
  In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
  dmesg | tail  or so

this breaks a lot of other (unrelated) packages that rely on mount
supporting nfs mounts.

This should be a trivial patch. It would rock if you could prepare
it, even better if directly against the Git repository. Instructions
are here: http://logcheck.org/git.html and if you have any
questions, I'd be happy to answer them via the
[EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list, or on

Same problem here. But it turned out to be my window manager's
configuration that caused this behaviour. It was FVWM's reaction
for urgency hints as described here:

When did this problem appear? Did it work fine in 6.7.197? Can you try
the package from experimental?
http://snapshot.debian.net contains a lot of snapshots of
xserver-xorg-video-ati from 6.7.19x days to after 6.8.0. It would be
nice to locate which one of them introduced the bug.

Bug#470949: abiword-common: pairs of ! and ? characters are rendered incorrectly in DejaVu Sans Mono

2008-03-14 Thread Eric Cooper
Package: abiword-common
Version: 2.4.6-5
Severity: minor

When I have !! or ?? in a document in DejaVu Sans Mono, the pair of
characters are rendered too narrowly, not at the normal fixed width.
If I want to use "???" in a table, for example, it throws off the
alignment.

The problem doesn't happen in abiword with other monospaced fonts, and it
doesn't happen in oowriter when using DejaVu Sans Mono.

(for CCed upstream developers: the Debian package is 2.10.8)

I believe upstream will release those changes in the new version. Michael,
Paolo, can you confirm this? When will the new version be available? If it's
too distant, I might (try to) patch the Debian version, so as to provide the
features requested.

Thanks,

Remember bug #335348 ? This LSB header were submitted by you :) Part of
them were actually already removed in our git repo for the next upload.
I just fixed the remaining part, everything should be fine in the next

Bug#470175: bug 470175 - gthumb/exiv2

2008-03-14 Thread Dr. Michael J. Chudobiak
gThumb trunk uses exiv2 to read metadata, and supports exif, xmp, iptc,
and various raw metadata types.

gThumb 2.10.x uses libexif, and has no xmp support.

It would be too dangerous to attempt to backport exiv2 into 2.10.8. It
is NOT a trivial change.

Either wait for 2.11.0 in a few months, or use the full svn trunk
version (which is currently in a good state).

2.11.0 will not be released until it is ported to gio. Trunk will become
unstable will gio porting begins.

This looks to me like something/body has messed with the
configuration, rendering it invalid. On my etch reference system,
lines 588 to 608 of /var/lib/exim4/config.autogenerated say:

address_file:
  debug_print = "T: address_file for [EMAIL PROTECTED]"
  driver = appendfile
  delivery_date_add
  envelope_to_add
  return_path_add

address_pipe:
  debug_print = "T: address_pipe for [EMAIL PROTECTED]"
  driver = pipe
  return_fail_output

address_reply:
  debug_print = "T: autoreply for [EMAIL PROTECTED]"
  driver = autoreply

mail_spool:
  debug_print = "T: appendfile for [EMAIL PROTECTED]"
  driver = appendfile
  file = /var/mail/$local_part
  delivery_date_add

no "{" visible.

Please give the output of
sed -n '588,608p;' /var/lib/exim4/config.autogenerated
or better, send your entire /var/lib/exim4/config.autogenerated.

Greetings
Marc

Bug#470951: grub-installer: serial console broken for words!=8 and flow control

2008-03-14 Thread Max Vozeler
Package: grub-installer
Tags: patch

I was surprised by grub not showing up on the serial
console after an installation over serial with kernel
option console=ttyS0,11520n8r

The grub menu.lst contained

  serial --unit=1 --speed=115200 --word=r --parity=no --stop=1

But 'r' is an invalid value for word (it takes 5-8).

It turns out the parsing in grub_serial_console() doesn't
handle options strings correctly that specify a word size != 8
or a flow control parameter (or both).

grub_serial_console() interprets the third character after
the baud rate as value for 'word'. serial-console.txt in
linux-2.6/Documentation, OTOH, says:

  options: depend on the driver. For the serial port this
defines the baudrate/parity/bits/flow control of
the port, in the format PNF, where is the
speed, P is parity (n/o/e), N is number of bits,
and F is flow control ('r' for RTS). Default is
9600n8. The maximum baudrate is 115200.

So it should actually take the second character as value
for word and ignore any third character, because grub doesn't
seem to offer any option for setting flow control.

The attached patch makes it work for me and fixes both word
and flow control handling. I've checked the results against
Alex' test script [1], and the results look good to me.

If 6.7.197 is the version that was replaced by 6.8.0 in sid I think it
already had the problem. I will try to discover the version in

Right, the problem is that I have to disable buffered writes to stdout
because I am updating the screen. And of course if it cannot directly write
to stdout (because the terminal is suspended) it interrupts the syscall.

If somehow dstat could be triggered when that happens, we could enable
buffering again. But I doubt that is a very good solution. Maybe it would
make more sense to flush the buffer at regular intervals instead of making
the output unbuffered. But I am not sure whether that could cause the same
problem, at least we then can check for xoff the moment we want to flush.

How would any other program handle this ? How would a real programmer
handle it ? :-)

I quickly did a test with buffering enabled and doing a flush. And it is able
to withstand a terminal suspend longer (until the buffer gets full).
And then again an Interrupted system call. I am wondering whether we can
increase the standard buffer, if that is wise to do and if this is the right
approach.

Anyone ? :)

And this is hopefully the last mail in this thread. I should probably
refrain from sending a mail when I am unsure if I will spend more time on
it.

Anyway, I fixed it with this snippet:

try: sys.stdout.flush()
except IOError: pass

This will silently ignore the problems flush has and will happily buffer
on. The fix went into subversion and this one is important enough for a
new release soon.

Hi Félix,
gnome-rdp 0.2.2 fails to build on Debian i386 (#470820). A user provided a patch
to fix this. Please include it in 0.2.2.5 ;)

Also, libvte2.0-cil will be removed from Debian, thus gnome-rdp should depend
on libvte0.16-cil (#470821).

I'm attaching "clean" patches to this mail: Sebastian Dröge (the submitter of
both bugs) also patched configure; you just need to patch configure.in and
rerun autogen.sh.

Also, please provide a tarball with ready configure (i.e. with "autogen.sh"
already run) -- normal users would tipically do ./configure && make.
(not ./autogen.sh && ...).

I've already committed everything to Debian SVN (with autogen.sh run), with the
tarball you sent me privately for the new upcoming version. Before releasing it
to Debian, I'll wait you to release it publicly.

Thanks,
David

What happened was:
$ shutdown -F -r now

# fsck of root fs
# fsck.ext2 returned error 3 (most likely since it optimized directories)
# computer automatically reboots (everything works as expected until now)
# fsck of root fs *grrr*

  Please find attached a patch to fix FTBFS bugs in packages using the

  In the latest cvs version of libopenobex OBEX_CLIENT and OBEX_SERVER
  variables in openobex/obex_const.h have been renamed to
  OBEX_MODE_CLIENT and OBEX_MODE_SERVER resulting in FTBFS of packages

Thanks but I was already in discussion with Michael about this.
I just need to upload the fixed version. Your patch is correct,
although I do not use the plain values in this case to make the
mapping clearer.

Hi Mike,
I believe I'll package only stable releases of gthumb for Debian. It has lots of
bugs in Debian, which I'm trying to catch/solve/triage, and it would be a
problem having a buggier bleeding edge version :(. I wish gthumb had fewer bugs
filed :'(.

Julien: I believe we all want to wait for 2.11.0 to implement this, no? :) If
you really need it, I might package a trunk version of gthumb and put it on a
personal repository.

Kindly,
David

Bug#470960: 6.7.8.2: point 4 (use foo-ver.orig for repacked tarballs) seems backwards

2008-03-14 Thread Jon Dowland
Package: developers-reference
Version: 3.3.9
Severity: normal

Hello,

Quoting 6.7.8.2 Repackaged upstream source point 4:

[A repackaged .orig.tar.gz] should use
-.orig as the name of
the top-level directory in its tarball. This makes
it possible to distinguish pristine tarballs from
repackaged ones.

That would suggest you would have

foo-ver pristine upstream tarball
foo-ver.origrepacked upstream tarball

This seems to be confusing. I think common practice is to
append to the upstream version, either dfsg (if that's why
you have repacked) or other tags depending on the reason. I
think this point (4) should be dropped, and the
version-tagging expanded.

Bug#470851: #470851: nbd-server: copy-on-write requires write access to base file

2008-03-14 Thread vagrant
retitle 470851 nbd-server: copy-on-write requires write access to base file
thanks

i think i figured out what was wrong...

/opt/ltsp/images/i386.img was only writeable by root, though readable by
everybody.

so when i started it from the commandline, as root, it worked fine. when
it started from inetd, as user nobody, it didn't allow write access.

i'm thinking if copy-on-write is enabled, it should only require read
access to the base file, as it can write to a separate file.

i'll take a look at the code, although my C is poor.

live well,
  vagrant

The error part of the test suite is quite fragile, and the failure is
due to this 5.10.0 improvement in diagnostic output:

 % perl -le 'BEGIN {print $]}; if ({$error is here ) ) { }'
 5.008008
 Bareword found where operator expected at -e line 1, near "$error is"
 (Missing operator before is?)
 syntax error at -e line 1, near "$error is here "
 Execution of -e aborted due to compilation errors.

vs.

 % perl -le 'BEGIN {print $]}; if ({$error is here ) ) { }'
 5.01
 Bareword found where operator expected at -e line 1, near "$error is"
 (Missing operator before is?)
 syntax error at -e line 1, near "$error is here "
 Missing right curly or square bracket at -e line 1, at end of line
 Execution of -e aborted due to compilation errors.

The attached rather crude patch seems to catch all the problematic places,
and I'm able to build the package on both 5.8.8 and 5.10.0 with this. The
'$] >= 5.009' part is just a guess; I have no idea where in the 5.9.x
series this change occurred.

Please forward this upstream too, so they don't have to duplicate the
gruntwork.

Nothing should have messed with it -- it was a brand new install on a
fresh server. However, something managed to break the file. It was not
(yet) me because I hadn't gotten past the reconfig.

"apt-get remove --purge exim4 exim4-config"
 followed by a re-install got rid of the symptoms

Re-installing mailman didn't cause the problems again either.

So, I guess it's solved. FWIW, it was on a Xen VM.

Bug#470918: sudo-ldap: uses wrong hostname

2008-03-14 Thread Lluis
I already tried that before sending the bug. The output it's exactly the
same before and after changing the /etc/hosts file

=== /etc/hosts ===
127.0.0.1   localhost
127.0.0.1   hostname.domain   hostname

# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix

ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
ff02::3 ip6-allhosts
==

$ hostname; hostname -s; hostname -a; hostname -f; hostname -d
hostname
hostname
hostname
hostname.domain
domain

After changing the second line to 127.0.1.1, the hostname command returns
exactly the same, but sudo-ldap starts working.

Thanks,

Bug#470962: Incompatible with post-DSA-1428 kernel source

2008-03-14 Thread Marcin Owsiany
Package: kernel-patch-openvz
Version: 028.18.1etch5
Severity: grave

One of the patches for CVE-2007-3104 in DSA-1428-1 (incorrectly called
1481-1 in its subject), uploaded in linux-2.6_2.6.18.dfsg.1-13etch5
introduced an incompatibility with the openvz patch.

Attached is a patch which makes the patch work. I've been using it in my
packages since December, so I consider it rather well tested. Sorry for
the delayed filing of this bug.

Fair enough, and I see your point.

Let's see if we can come up with some nice way to do that at some
point.

Bug#470963: nbd-server: copy-on-write with alternate cow file

2008-03-14 Thread Vagrant Cascadian
Package: nbd-server
Version: 1:2.9.9-6
Severity: wishlist

i'm finding the nbdroot hooks to initramfs-tools very useful-
particularly in combination with copy-on-write.

one feature i would like to see is the ability to specify the cow file.

right now, it seems to default to ${base_file}-${ipaddress}-${pid}.diff,
so with /opt/ltsp/images/i386.img, it would create a file like
/opt/ltsp/images/i386.img-127.0.0.1-4675.diff.

it would be nice if there were an option to use mktemp and/or specify an
alternate location for the .diff file, so you could store the diff files
in a separate location from the base file images.

thanks!

live well,
  vagrant

Bug#470176: sony raw format

2008-03-14 Thread Dr. Michael J. Chudobiak
I've patched gthumb trunk. It should recognize sony raw files now, if
you have an up-to-date freedesktop.org.xml file.

http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/gthumb?view=revision&revision=2303

I won't backport this to the 2.10.x series, because not enough distros
have a recent freedesktop.org.xml file yet (where the raw types are
declared as sub-classes of image/x-dcraw).

Bug#470964: Problem (and repeatable crash) in Folder Subscription dialog

2008-03-14 Thread Chris Carr
Package: Evolution
Version: 2.12.3-1.1

For some reason Evolution no longer downloads the list of newsgroups
properly from the server (Leafnode 1.11.6-5). In the Folder Subscription
dialog, after choosing the server, the top level of each hierarchy
exists, but expanding most of them reveals nothing but "Loading ...",
e.g.

 > allt
 > ally
 > alphanet
 v alt
 Loading ...
 > alt-music
 > altadena

... etc. Clicking on Refresh does not change anything, it does not
re-download the active file from the server. Clicking on the tickbox on
any "Loading ..." line causes Evolution to crash (immediate
disappearance type crash, no error message).

From my side, please go ahead. Despite being listed in Uploaders: I
don’t consider myself the maintainer, so I’d also just do an NMU.

I don’t think that Liyang HU would object, as he did not in the past.

Bug#459152: Add dbus support to use blam with epiphany extension

2008-03-14 Thread Carlos Martin

Jérôme Guelfucci wrote:

Package: blam

This was reported in Ubuntu's bug tracker, a while ago :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/blam/+bug/52132

At the moment, the packaged version of blam doesn't support
dbus-messages, making it unusable with the Epiphany RSS extension
which uses DBUS to communicate with feed readers. It seems that some
users managed to get a dbus support by adding a dbus package to
(build-)deps, maybe libndesk-dbus1.0-cil can be used.

Thank you
This isn't as easy as adding a dependency because the D-Bus library that
it uses has been removed from Debian (and probably from Ubuntu as well).
The upstream development version is compatible with NDesk and I'll
probably backport that to the stable version over easter.

The display of the web browsers Epiphany and iceweasel seam not to be
updated properly. When I scroll down with the arrows horizontal stripes
appear. When I move another window across the browser it leaves
vertical and horizontal stripes. Clicking on the top bar of the browsers
window causes a clean redisplay. But there are still corrupted regions
around the slider bar.

Any chance you upgrade xserver-xorg-core and xserver-xorg-video-ati to
unstable to see whether the problem occurs there too?

Hi Brice,

thanks for your reply.

Aptitude complains about many conflicts when I try to update
xserver-xorg-core to sid. I also tried to update the virtual package
but that would cause conflicts too. So I didn't update.

Is there still a way how I could try the xserver from sid without
completely  upgrading to sid?

I finally upgraded xorg completely to sid. And I did upgrade iceweasel.
Unfortunately the problem remains. Could it be due to the graphics
library? I guess that is gtk2 for both iceweasel and epiphany?

(With etch there was no problem.)

Can you try with another driver instead of ati? Maybe vesa for instance?

In xorg.conf I replaced the line:
Driver  "ati"
with:
Driver  "vesa"
I'm not sure if this is enough? The result was that I could not
get into the GNOME desktop anymore.

Or s3 on the other board that seems to be installed in this machine?
I did not try it yet. This is an on-board card which uses the processors
RAM. I could do it for a test if this would assist you?

I found that Epiphany and iceweasel work properly under KDE. I upgraded to the
latest Gnome version in sid. And still Epiphany and
iceweasel don't display correctly. Should this bug be prpergated to
some gnome list?

(So my current Debian is based on etch wit xorg, gnome, Epiphany and
iceweasel from sid.)

Cheers,
Michael

Bug#470961: probably not a bug bug

2008-03-14 Thread Serafeim Zanikolas
On a second thought, it seems that procmail reports an error, even though it
does store the emails. This would justify getmail not deleting the emails at
the pop3 server, as it assumes that the delivery wasn't successfull.

What puzzles me is that getmail/procmail report a different error number for
every email, which really doesn't help in figuring out what's wrong.

Sorry for the noise, feel free to close the bug, but any help is welcome.

Bug#470509: And a patch…

2008-03-14 Thread Chris Adams
The problem appears to be related to the response size when calling
ldap_search_s() in _get_user_info():

  rc = ldap_search_s (session->ld, ssd->base, ssd->scope, filter,
NULL, 0, &res);

pam_ldap works correctly if that line is changed to either not request
attribute data:
  rc = ldap_search_s (session->ld, ssd->base, ssd->scope, filter,
NULL, 1, &res);

or to request only a few attributes:
  const char *test_attrs[] = { , NULL };
  rc = ldap_search_s (session->ld, ssd->base, ssd->scope,
  filter, &test_attrs, 0, &res);

I had earlier noticed that the response sizes were suspiciously near
32KB. The failing ones have jpegPhoto attributes which are over 32KB;
the working ones were below that threshold. I had assumed that the
SIZELIMIT error check meant this was handled correctly by the lower
levels but that doesn't appear to be the case. In any case there's a
strong argument against retrieving an entire LDAP record at login
since modern directories may contain things like pictures, x509 keys,
etc. which are fairly large and of no interest to pam_ldap.

Here's the latest version of my version which uses the test_attrs
approach above and removed a couple of test syslog() calls which I
inadvertently left in the previous diff. This works in my test
environment but I would definitely want to test it more before
releasing it into the wild.
