Bug#574557: Package version is wrong in bug report

I picked the version number when the bug was introduced according to
the changelog, to make sure it is registered against all version where
it is present.

Are you saying that it is fixed in a later version and reintroduced
after this?

Happy hacking,

I can reproduce this on amd64 with 2.3.0-3; it's because ghc6 6.12
bundles versions of those libraries that are higher than Darcs'
./configure-equivalent would like (though it would probably work to
simply override the constraints in ./darcs.cabal).

I can't reproduce this on amd64 with 2.4-1, which I uploaded in the
last twenty-four hours. Cyril, can you confirm this is fixed?

The full build log is available from:
 http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2010/03/16/debtorrent.log

It is reproducible by installing your package in a clean chroot, using
the debconf Noninteractive frontend, and priority: critical.

This test was carried out using about 50 AMD64 nodes of the Grid'5000
platform. Internet was not accessible from the nodes.

I'm not sure how to tell which torrent these pieces are from, which may be
an important diagnostic, so if somebody could tell me how to find that, I'll
do so and add it to this bug report.

Whatever the reason, howeer, it seems to me that repeatedly trying to
download a piece from a web server that claims it doesn't exist must
indicate something a little more worrying than just a large log file!

Note, however, that the piece numbers do change, each piece appearing in the
log for around a day or so.

Cheers & God bless
Sam "SammyTheSnake" Penny

Since there don't seem to be any takers, I uploaded the fixed package
to DELAYED/7. My cursory tests indicated that it works properly, so we
should be fine.

Thanks for your report.

Colin Watson indeed added the needed lines to the toplevel Makefile.

It's probably really time for an upload (will also fix a bunch of l10n
thingies).

Bug#574794: lhs2tex: FTBFS because of type errors/version mismatch

2010-03-20 Thread Julian Gilbey
Package: lhs2tex
Version: 1.13-4.1
Severity: serious
Tags: patch

The current version in unstable is not building on some architectures
because it has been patched to use the Control.OldException module,
which was only introduced in more recent versions of ghc. The
temporary patch would be to make the ghc6 dependency specify >= 6.12.1.
This means that lhs2tex is not currently found in testing.

This problem equally affects the version 1.14-1 in experimental, and
this could be patched by applying the same change to the sources as
the 1.13-4.1 NMU introduced.

However, the best way of fixing this problem is to update to version
1.15 of upstream, which has corrected the sources to take account of
the newer Exception module.

The only Debian-related change needed appears to be:

debian/control:
Build-Depends: increase the ghc6 dependency to (>= 6.12.1) and remove
the libghc6-utf8-string-dev dependency (it is now provided by ghc6)

The only other required change I found when investigating this was
that the homepage has moved to http://people.cs.uu.nl/andres/lhs2tex/;
this affects both debian/control (Homepage field) and
debian/copyright.

Please do consider releasing this version to unstable so that the
package can progress through to testing.

   Julian

Bug#574784: [xdg-utils] mangles linebreaks

2010-03-20 Thread Bastian Venthur
Package: xdg-utils
Version: 1.0.2+cvs20100307-1
Severity: serious

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Hi,

according to the manpage of xdg-email the --body text may contain
newlines, but this does not work anymore. I tested only with icedove, it
used to work a few weeks ago.

Easy to reproduce:

xdg-email --body "this is\na test"

with icedove 3.0.2 set as default MUA.

This behaviour breaks currently reportbug-ng with the default setting
which uses xdg-email.

Cheers,

Bastian

Bug#574597:

2010-03-20 Thread Baggett Jonas
Hi

If I understand well, with vhdl 93 (but not with vhdl 87), it is allowed to have
generics that are not associated. But I think that it is good that there is at
least a warning because a generic can be unwillingly forgotten to be associated
and this will help to find such a mistake.
So the following patch make a warning when there is unassociated generics.

Bug#574783: FTBFS on SPARC

2010-03-20 Thread Obey Arthur Liu
Package: virtuoso-opensource
Version: 6.1.0+dfsg2-2
Severity: serious
Tags: confirmed upstream

See following.

Subject: FTBFS for virtuoso-opensource on SPARC
To: debian-sp...@lists.debian.org
Cc: pkg-virtuoso-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org

Hi all,

I am the maintainer of virtuoso-opensource[1], a newly packaged
semantic database on which new versions of KDE will depend.
It is therefore important to get it to build on all architectures[2].
I have so far squashed issues on kfreebsd-* and armel but hurd-i386
and sparc are still problematic.
While the hurd-i386 problems are probably too deep right now for a
fix, I believe sparc can be fixed.

I suspect it is a memory alignment issue, similarly to the armel
fix[3], although my attempts at fixing them
similarly[ftbfs-sparc.patch attached] have not been successful yet.

Here's the crash without any patching (full backtrace further below):
Program received signal SIGBUS, Bus error.
sequence_next_inc_1 (name=0x1391148 "RDF_PREF_SEQ", in_map=0,
inc_by=1, err_ret=0x0) at regist.c:714
714             res = (*place);
Location[4].

Here's how to reproduce the crash:
dchroot sid # as needed
dget
http://www.milliways.fr/debian/packages/virtuoso/virtuoso-opensource_6.1.0+dfsg2-2.dsc
dpkg-source -x virtuoso-opensource_6.1.0+dfsg2-2.dsc
cd virtuoso-opensource-6.1.0+dfsg2
# We want to enable debug symbols by adding --with-debug to the ./configure
sed -i 's/\(zlib$\)/\1 --with-debug/' debian/rules
dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc -d

After a while, you should see:
Waiting Virtuoso Server start on port ...
Waiting Virtuoso Server start on port ...
Waiting Virtuoso Server start on port ...
Just Ctrl-C the build. It has already crashed by this point.

Now, to reproduce the crash:
cd binsrc/rdf_mappers
rm vad.db
# This should crash:
../virtuoso/virtuoso-t +wait +foreground +debug +configfile virtuoso.ini
# Now to make it crash again, wipe the database and run it again under gdb:
rm vad.db
gdb --args ../virtuoso/virtuoso-t +wait +foreground +debug +configfile
virtuoso.ini

Note that the build system is quite horrible, but the following
incantation should approximate an incremental compilation for any
edited files under libsrc/Wi/:
$ cd libsrc/Wi/ && make clean && cd ../..

If you have an easy fix for this, I'd be very grateful.
If there's none, I'll escalate to upstream in a few days.

I'm not subscribed to debian-sparc@ but I'm on
pkg-virtuoso-maintainers@ (cc'ed).

Cheers

Arthur

This looks purely like a Heimdal issue. I think I can work that out
without agreement of the libeditline-dev maintainer ;-).

Will see if I can reassign it.

Bug#574777: decompyle: should this package be removed?

2010-03-20 Thread Jakub Wilk

Package: decompyle
Version: 2.3.2-4.1
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: proposed-removal

Dear Maintainer,

While reviewing some packages, your package came up as a possible
candidate for removal from Debian, because:
- upstream is dead;
- there's been no maintainer upload since 2006;
- decompiling byte-code produced by any modern (>= 2.4) Python is not
supported, thus the package is mostly unusable.

If you think that the package should be orphaned instead of being
removed from Debian, please reply to this bug and tell so.

If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please
just close this bug and do an upload also fixing the other issues.

If you agree that it should be removed, send the following commands to
cont...@bugs.debian.org (replace nn with this bug's number):

severity nn normal
reassign nn ftp.debian.org
retitle nn RM:  -- RoM;
thanks

Package: libffi-ruby
Version: 0.6.2debian-4
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source

Hi, Micah!

libffi-ruby fails to build because it tries to run ruby1.9.1 but
build-depends instead on the old ruby1.9 package:

/usr/bin/ruby1.9.1 debian-setup.rb config --installdirs=std
make: /usr/bin/ruby1.9.1: Command not found
make: *** [install/libffi-ruby1.9.1] Error 127

Could you please correct that?

Also, please correct the libffi-ruby binary package's dependency to be
on libffi-ruby1.8 rather than libruby1.8. (Likewise for
libcompass-ruby, libfssm-ruby and librb-inotify-ruby; please let me
know if you'd like me to file separate reports for them.)

Thanks!

Here's the backtrace on ia64 (merulo.d.o):

zsh: segmentation fault (core dumped) PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1 perl -Iblib/lib
-Iblib/arch t/map8.t

Core was generated by `perl -Iblib/lib -Iblib/arch t/map8.t'.
Program terminated with signal 11, Segmentation fault.

) at perlmain.c:117

Looks like the problem is that sizeof(STRLEN) != sizeof(int) but
the map8_recode8() call on Map8.xs:358 mixes up pointers to them.

Also, there seems to be a typo in the function prototype in map8.h so
we don't even get a compiler warning. With that fixed, I see

Map8.xs: In function ‘XS_Unicode__Map8_recode8’:
Map8.xs:358: warning: passing argument 6 of ‘map8_recode8’ from incompatible
pointer type
map8.h:83: note: expected ‘int *’ but argument is of type ‘STRLEN *’

I'm attaching a patch that makes the test pass for me on ia64.

FWIW, this is also [rt.cpan.org #43404] (which contains an identical
patch to mine) and [rt.cpan.org #24652].

It has also failed on amd64 for at least Fedora, see

Bug#574759: debconf: does not install modules for Python 2.6

2010-03-20 Thread Jakub Wilk

Package: debconf

Severity: serious
Justification: http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2010/02/msg00325.html
User: debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org

Hello,

Current set of supported Python versions is {2.5, 2.6} and 2.6 is going
to be the default soon. However, debconf still installs Python modules
only for 2.4 and 2.5.

If you need help with fixing this bug, don't hesitate to ask on

Package: logrotate
Version: 3.7.8-4
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

If the directory of a log file specification with wild cards does not exist,
logrotate may mis-parse the config file so badly that it will rotate arbitrary
files appearing in the postrotate script.

Imagine that /bin/sh appears there and it is rotated to /bin/sh.1 . Ouch.
If logrotate fails to parse the config, it must abort, and not
clobber random files.

The interesting part of the "logrotate -d /etc/logrotate.conf" output is
provided below. This is
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apache2/+bug/392532 and causes the
apache2 init script to be rotated away.

I could not reproduce this under lenny. I guess it was introduced in 3.7.8.

Bug#574753: miro: Depends on python (<< 2.6)

2010-03-20 Thread Jakub Wilk

Package: miro
Version: 2.5.4-1
Severity: serious
Justification: http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2010/02/msg00325.html
User: debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: python2.6

miro currently depends on python (<< 2.6). This is not bad per se;
however, when rebuilt in an environment with Python 2.6 as the default
version, it still didn't build Python extensions for 2.6 and still
depended on python (<< 2.6). Thus, your package will block migration of
new python-defaults to testing.

If you need help with fixing this bug, don't hesitate to ask on
#debian-python or debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org.

Hi,

fluxbox explicitly depends on libmagickcore2-extra, which no longer exists
after the recent imagemagick upload to unstable; it's been replaced by
libmagickcore3-extra.

Please check and update your build-dependency.

Regards,

Adam

Bug#538298: [dolphin] No freezes with DBus 1.2.22?

2010-03-20 Thread Kai Wasserbäch
tag 538298 + moreinfo
thanks

Hello,
you've reported a bug about freezes/crashes in Dolphin. Upstream's (KDE) bug
indicates [0], this might be caused by Qt bug 7475 [1], which in turn was caused
by a function of D-Bus not being thread-safe. This should be fixed by D-Bus
commit ae95a0ff9651a774cd983436d7e656c62492659c [2] and be included in D-Bus
1.2.22.

Can you confirm, that the problem is no longer present, if you install/use D-Bus
1.2.22 (which is in unstable)?

Kind regards,
Kai Wasserbäch

This is because network is not available in these rebuilds, while
normally it is on your pbuilder (and mine, when I initially sponsor the

I've made a small amount of progress on this problem. Basically, it seems
that the Date_ConvTZ method in the new version of Date::Manip does not
handle timezones correctly when they are specified as offsets (+/-).
It also looks like there may be issues with the way that xmltv uses
Date::Manip.

For anyone who's still having problems with xmltv on squeeze/sid, note that
downgrading to libdate-manip-perl 5.57 from lenny will fix the problem.

I've sent an update on my progress to the xmltv-devel list[0], but I'm
having to put this on hold for now.

Thanks a lot for sparing me the need of investigating the actual change
in routes that triggered the failure! I'll apply the patch next week
(this week-end I'm traveling).

Enrico, if you find it convenient, can you give a try to the patch (I'll
do anyhow, but you told me that you have an application in production
affected by this bug: it will probably be a more complete test than
mine).

Cheers.

Upstream is probably unable to fix this in time for squeeze.

The package has been removed from unstable on kfreebsd-* (see #574540) and
I've requested !linux buildds to ignore it (see #574538).

Hence I'm closing this bug to let the package migrate to testing.

Bug#574730: necpp: BD-Uninstallable on armel and alpha, build-depends on libatlas-base-dev

2010-03-20 Thread Jakub Wilk

Package: necpp
Version: 1.4.0+cvs20091005-2
Severity: serious
Justification: FTBFS

Hello,

necpp no longer builds from source on armel and alpha because of unmet
build-depenencies: libatlas-base-dev is not available on those
architectures. Either alpha and armel binaries should be removed from
unstable or build-dependencies should be adjusted accordingly.

A full build log can be found at:
http://buildd.debian.org/build.php?arch=alpha&pkg=jppy&ver=0.0.54-1

Alpha never has and never will have a /usr/lib64/ dir. On amd64
you should not use /usr/lib64 for anything. Everything should
be in /usr/lib/

Bug#574235: wims: installation fails

2010-03-20 Thread Georges Khaznadar
Hello Lucas,

which environment did you use to perform the following test?

When I read again the scripts which are called upon configuration of
Wims, I am pretty sure that they can only be run if the user 'wims' and
the group 'wims' both exist.

The script which fails emits error reports about a lack of permissions.

However it is invoked after a check that this user and group do exist,
and changing the ownership of every relevant directory and file to
wims:wims. This script is invoked with the permissions of wims:wims.

I can hardly imagine what went wrong.

Please can you give me some information about the system you are using
to perform the test? I would like to perform the same test by myself to
reproduce the bug.

Best regards, Georges.
