Bug#586830: [Debian-med-packaging] Bug#586830: marked as done (hardcodes Python 2.5)
[Charles Plessy, 2010-06-30] What makes you think that autodocktools works with python 2.6 if upstream hardcoded it for 2.5. Have you tested the package before uploading? I understand that you may be disapointed that we have not answered your bug report, but please consider that people may be busy, and that the absence of answer does not mean that we were not thinking about the question (can autodock run with python = 2.5?). I am still puzzled why a NMU with no consultation with the maintainer was chosen instead of simply removing the package from Testing. yeah, I did some code reviewing and didn't spot anything that doesn't work with 2.6. Could you point me to what is not working so that I can fix it since you're busy? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Tuco tuco@gmail.com (30/06/2010): Package: pwlib Version: 1.10.10-3 Severity: serious This patch fixes build problems of pwlib on kfreebsd. Thanks for that. Some comments: - it'd be nice to tag the bug as having a patch. - it'd also be nice to usertag the bug when submitting. - it's not a serious bug, since pwlib never built on kfreebsd-*, that's only important. Could you point me to what is not working so that I can fix it since you're busy? You could do me a great favour if you go for the real thing, i.e. get the packages from upstream CVS of which they know it is compatible with 2.6. It is also my experience from the 2.5 transition that there won't be too many packages affected. But it is not on us to decide that, really, so I think. If you are actively using the autodocktools then I am happy for your contribution and expect you to deal with any problems. If not, then I am too busy to be offended. Bug#580867: opensync: Unfit for release
Hi, On Mon, Jun 28, 2010 at 08:52:09PM +0100, Adam D. Barratt wrote: Hi, On Sun, 2010-05-09 at 15:05 +0200, Michael Banck wrote: At this point, opensync is not ready for release. Is this still the case? Yes, at least 0.3x isn't, and upstream is not moving. opensync is involved in the transition to using python2.6 by default (via python-opensync, which depends on python 2.6 in testing) so we will either need to be able to migrate the new opensync packages, or remove them from testing; given this bug and the number of FTBFS bugs against packages in the dependency chain, the latter looks more likely. Hrm, it seems opensync and the rest got removed from testing already? I was going to propose to drop all non-python plugins and fix opensync-0.22 in testing to work with python2.6 and thus keeping barry and synce-sync-engine on board, as people seem to be successfully using those. But I am not sure this would be the best, either. Michael -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#587499: antlr3: kfreebsd-* FTBFS: build tree + qemu image
Hi, If it can be of any help, I have a tarball of an antlr3 3.2-3 build tree on kfreebsd-amd64 post-failure. I also have a qemu image containing a kfreebsd-amd64 system (with build-depends installed) and the said build tree. The tree is ca. 600kB compressed (7MB uncompressed), the qemu image is 560MB compressed (ca. 12GB uncompressed, of which about 2GB are really used, but I failed at preserving the image's sparse file status while moving it to a tmpfs at the beginning of the build :/). I can make the files available in my homedir on Alioth if you're interested in getting them. Package: bugzilla Severity: grave Tags: security Hi, the following issues have been reported against bugzilla: http://www.bugzilla.org/security/3.2.6/ CVE-2010-1204 has minor impact, we don't need a DSA for it. If necessary, it can still be fixed in a stable point update. CVE-2010-0180 doesn't affect the Squeeze or Lenny version, since our Bugzilla is too old. Which brings me to another issue: We should really release Bugzilla 3.2 with Squeeze? 3.2 will be end-of-lifed when Bugzilla 4.0 is released, which should happen in the not too distinct future and years before the end of the Squeeze support time frame. In particular, he notes a trivial buffer overflow during replay. In http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2010/01/msg00317.html he writes: sudosh allows complete session logging of shells run under sudo. Individual sudo commands are still logged as normal but running a shell under sudosh records the entire session as well as session timings for complete playback later. Uhm, it appears to be an one-trick pony which tries to replicate what ttyrec does, except that it's usage is sharply limited, it spits out several files instead of one, and the code quality is terrible. Just one example: In replay.c, it does sscanf(... %i ..., b) to an int, makes a sanity check, rejecting values of b more than 8MB -- comparing it as a _signed_ value. Then, it does read(fd, buffer, (size_t)b). (size_t is unsigned). But after a second reading of the code, you don't need to go that far. The check against overflow was for 8MB, and size of the static buffer is 8192 bytes... Also, * License : Open Software License version 2.0 (non free) Is there any need for non-free tools where better free equivalents already exist? Bug#587670: libpng: CVE-2010-1205 and CVE-2010-2249
Source: libpng Severity: grave Tags: security Hi, the following CVE (Common Vulnerabilities Exposures) ids were published for libpng. Upstream's announcement: Several versions of libpng through 1.4.2 (and through 1.2.43 in the older series) contain a bug whereby progressive applications such as web browsers (or the rpng2 demo app included in libpng) could receive an extra row of image data beyond the height reported in the header, potentially leading to an out-of-bounds write to memory (depending on how the application is written) and the possibility of execution of an attacker's code with the privileges of the libpng user. For which CVE-2010-1205 was assigned. An additional memory-leak bug, involving images with malformed sCAL chunks, is also present; it could lead to an application crash (denial of service) when viewing such images. CVE-2010-2249 If you fix the vulnerabilities please also make sure to include the CVE ids in your changelog entry. If possible, please provide packages for stable (to be released via the security archive.) Thanks! For further information see: http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/libpng.html https://bugzilla.redhat.com/CVE-2010-2249 Could you also please investigate the following and tell us what your plans are regarding it? https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=608644#c10 Cheers, -- Raphael Geissert - Debian Developer www.debian.org - get.debian.net signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
Bug#587656: acpid 1:2.0.6-1 bug report
After installing acpid 1:2.0.6-1 the laptop keyboard and mouse pad generate no input to X. Did it generate input before installing acpid? Was acpid the only package you installed? Do you have acpid configured to load modules? What happens if you reboot and prevent /etc/init.d/acpid from running? And what happens if you just stop it? Attached USB keyboard is functional but Caps Lock num Lock leds are not turned on when pressed from the USB keyboard So it does generate input? Sorry, but it would help if you could be a little bit more precise. There's a huge difference between two keys not working and a fully unfunctional keyboard. Bug#574863: [PATCH] Updated fix for Debian Bug#574863: boot failure with lvm2 and snapshot volumes
hi there, On Tue, Jun 29, 2010 at 07:30:57AM +0200, Vladimir 'φ-coder/phcoder' Serbinenko wrote: I've cleaned up your patch using my more generic string parsing functions. Could you test attached patch? i read over the patch and it looks good. i've just tested the patch and grub-install, grub-mkconfig, and all the underlying calls to grub-probe work without problem, and the system happily boots with active lvm snapshots. so i think the patch is good from a testing perspective too. sean signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#587700: python-cjson: CVE-2010-1666: buffer overflow
Package: python-cjson Severity: grave Tags: security Hi, The following CVE (Common Vulnerabilities Exposures) id was published for python-cjson. Quoting the original bug report[1]: There is a buffer overrun in cjson 1.0.5, on UCS4 builds. The string length is only resized for wide unicode characters if there is less than 12 bytes of space left. Padding with narrow-but-escaped characters prevents string resizing. The following line exhibits the overrun (it *may* segfault or display garbage, etc): cjson.encode(u'\U0001D11E\U0001D11E\U0001D11E\U0001D11E\u1234\u1234\u12 34\u1234\u1234\u1234') (u'\U0001D11E\u1234' also breaks, but sometimes goes undetected.) This issue has been assigned CVE-2010-1666. If you fix the vulnerability please also make sure to include the CVE id in your changelog entry. If possible, please provide packages for stable (to be released via the security archive.)
