Bug#664990: More information
More information from Timo Warns: - Only libzip 0.10 is affected. - Stefan Cornelius has identified the precise commits that introduced the vulnerabilities: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=802564 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=803028 - As PHP and zipruby include older versions of libzip, they are not affected by the issues. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. There is an RC bug reported against basket two years ago, and still open. AFAICS, there is no answer from the maintainers on the bugreport. Is basket still maintained? Besides, I'm not sure about the severity. Upstream seems to have a workaround. IIUC, the notes are not really disappearing but just not shown (only shown after a restart). Bug#666176: tracker-miner-evolution: evo miner hangs on startup, totally nonfunctional
Package: tracker-miner-evolution Version: 0.14.0-2 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Hi, Sorry, I feel like a bit of a tool reporting an RC bug as my first bug in pretty much forever, but ... whenever I have tracker-miner-evolution installed, evolution just plain refuses to start, being totally hung. I've inlined a gdb backtrace to the end of the message showing that the miner is the cause. Even leaving it for an hour didn't result in Evolution ever starting (judging from the backtrace, the timeout on the D-Bus method call is near on 25 days). I'm sure this bug report is pretty useless on the face of it, so please let me know how I can get you more details to help debug it. As it is, I've had to remove the Evolution plugins that this package installs (given I can't uninstall it without also removing gnome-documents) to be able to start evolution at all. Cheers, Daniel (gdb) run Starting program: /usr/bin/evolution [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled] Using host libthread_db library /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libthread_db.so.1. Bug#587544: is basket abandoned?
Le jeudi 29 mars 2012 16:47:22, Mehdi Dogguy a écrit : Did you try to reproduce with basket versioned 1.81 from experimental? I didn't see there was a new version, but it was a good hint: I just tested and the bug seems fixed. Is there a reason why basket 1.81 is still in experimental since 2010? The changelog just mentions “new upstream release”. Apparently, basket 1.80 == 2.0 beta 1, and 1.81 == 2.0 beta 2, so there is no reason to keep 1.81 out of unstable because it's a beta version, since the current version is also a beta. Plus there is no newer upstream version. Cheers, Matteo signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

Does the test time matter for Debian or Linux packaging? I don't remember what is the cut-off for extremely long build-times but it is hours (if not days), so I don't think that time issue is relevant for pystatsmodels at the moment ;) With models that require a large number of iterations to solve and other slower methods, our test suite is getting a bit slow (for my taste). yeah -- faster they are the better ;-) but stability is imho even more valuable -- =--= Keep in touch www.onerussian.com Yaroslav Halchenko www.ohloh.net/accounts/yarikoptic -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#659775: simple fix, for a user anyway.
hi, just stumbled across this since i was looking at samba4 just rm/mv smb.conf which is installed by the older samba packages at the same time as samba4. so apt-get install samba4: err rm /etc/samba/smb.conf apt-get install samba4 now, in relation to this error : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba4/+bug/832465/comments/12 suggests: /etc/hosts 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost 127.0.1.1 svrwebdev.letsxchange.nl svrwebdev /etc/hostname svrwebdev.letsxchange.nl which fixes the same problem for other people. there seems to be two traps people are falling into. one old smb.conf they want migrated with bad options, fresh smb.conf they don't need and samba4 should ignore or have the default for the old samba packages corrected. the default local domain is usually a single prefix .local .config etc. This also seems to be a problem for samba4, which wants lan.config local.lan etc, due to the AD DNS type prefixing. now i installed without changing the DNS files as advised above(but using a local.lan as the local dns prefix), i'm not 100% everything is working, but i will show the relevant output incase just setting a correct internal dns / hostname is not the same as hostname/hosts fixes above. Adding DomainDN: DC=local,DC=lan Creating CN=MicrosoftDNS,CN=System,DC=local,DC=lan Server Role : domain controller Hostname: correct DNS Domain: local.lan NetBIOS Domain: WORKGROUP m$ default? set it to DNS Domain, without the prefix? DOMAIN SID: generated correctly. Admin password: really secure. so in closing, only smb.conf removal seems to be required as well as local.lan style dns prefix instead of just single .local Please correct me if I am wrong, and at least it seems the fixes are trivial. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#662628: Problem goes away, for me, if I remove 'control=notify:growl' from ~/.config/vlc/vlcrc
I experienced this same problem after I upgraded packages on my unstable desktop recently: VLC would freeze upon startup and the only recourse was to kill -KILL it. Following the advice of Bernat Arlandis I tracked down the line in ~/.config/vlc/vlcrc causing the problem on my machine. Having the line (written by a previous version of VLC): control=notify:growl makes VLC 2.0.1-3 exhibit the problem on my machine. Removing that lines fixes it; VLC plays video just fine again. This way we introduce a delta between Debian (and its derivatives) and all other *nix distributions with that package. We can consider this important or not, but we should take it into consideration IMVHO. The same is true for libmysql-diff-perl :) Well, yes. But a mysqldiff provided by Oracle sounds a bit more official than anything else :) But I'm happy we found a possible solution... Anyway, I'm fine with renaming our mysqldiff to something else, my current favourite being mysqlschemadiff. Comments? ...that would be perfect for me. Dmitry? Thanks Gregor for your comments! Bug#666225: configure:3028: error: xmllint not found
Source: deja-dup Version: 20.2-2 Severity: serious Tags: patch Hi, deja-dup uses the yelp help system for it's documentation. The configure check for YELP_INIT checks for itstool and xmllint. Your package only build-depends on itstool, though. With the upcoming release of libglib2.0-dev, which no longer has a dependency on libxml2-utils, your package is FTBFS (build log attached). I'd suggest build-depending on yelp-tools instead of itstool. The yelp-tools package dependends on all necessary tools required to build yelp based projects. Bug#666237: typo3-dummy: prompting due to modified conffiles which where not modified by the user
Package: typo3-dummy Version: 4.5.14+dfsg1-1 Severity: serious User: debian...@lists.debian.org Usertags: piuparts Hi, during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed the piuparts upgrade test because dpkg detected a conffile as being modified and then prompted the user for an action. As there is no user input, this fails. But this is not the real problem, the real problem is that this prompt shows up in the first place, as there was nobody modifying this conffile at all, the package has just been installed and upgraded... Bug#663217: zenmap's sys.path includes /tmp locations
On Fri, Mar 09, 2012 at 02:57:03PM +0100, chrysn wrote: Package: zenmap Version: 5.21-1.1 Severity: grave Tags: security the zenmap script modifies its sys.path to include '/tmp/nmap-5.21/debian/tmp/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/', which is inserted at build time from setyp.py. Thank you for the report. This is indeed a problem if you initially build and install into a world-writeable directory (e.g. /tmp/nmap-5.21/debian) and then copy the files elsewhere as part of a distribution. This feature is meant to set the module path for cases where people install Nmap in nondefault (but secure) locations, such as their home directory. But it isn't a very important feature, and we may be able to support that in other ways. So we have removed the set_modules_path function and the call to it from nmap/zenmap/setup.py in our source code repository. That change will be in future Nmap releases, and here is the patch: Modified: nmap/zenmap/setup.py == --- nmap/zenmap/setup.py(original) +++ nmap/zenmap/setup.pyMon Mar 26 19:14:22 2012 @@ -205,7 +205,6 @@ install.run(self) self.set_perms() -self.set_modules_path() self.fix_paths() self.create_uninstaller() self.write_installed_files() @@ -307,32 +306,6 @@ mode = ((os.stat(uninstaller_filename)[ST_MODE]) | 0555) 0 os.chmod(uninstaller_filename, mode) -def set_modules_path(self): -app_file_name = os.path.join(self.install_scripts, APP_NAME) -# Find where the modules are installed. distutils will put them in -# self.install_lib, but that path can contain the root (DESTDIR), so we -# must strip it off if necessary. -modules = self.install_lib -if self.root is not None: -modules = path_strip_prefix(modules, self.root) - -ufile = open(app_file_name, r) -ucontent = ufile.readlines() -ufile.close() - -# Insert our custom import after the first non-comment line. -re_sys = re.compile(^#) -uline = 0 -for line in ucontent: -if not re_sys.match(line): -break -uline += 1 -ucontent.insert(uline, \nimport sys\nsys.path.append(%s)\n % repr(modules)) - -ufile = open(app_file_name, w) -ufile.writelines(ucontent) -ufile.close() - def set_perms(self): re_bin = re.compile((bin|\.sh)) for output in self.get_installed_files(): -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
