Bug#749937: closed by Emilien Klein emilien+deb...@klein.st (Closing bug report)

2014-07-01 Thread Ralf Treinen
 Date: Sun, 29 Jun 2014 08:51:58 +0200
 From: Emilien Klein emilien+deb...@klein.st

As another RC bug (#748561) caused the autoremoval of GNU Health from
testing, I'm closing this bug report.

Bug #748561 is about not-installability of the package in sid, not in
testing. This remains unfixed.

For the record : being uninstallable in all architedcture for an extended
period of time is an RC bug. Filing bugs in these case has been discussed
here : https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2010/08/msg00063.html

There have been indications that the Debian packaging of GNU Health
might be taken over by the Debian Tryton maintainers, possibly
creating versioned packages for Tryton that would allow GNU Health and
Tryton's newest version to coexist at the same time:
 http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/health/2014-06/msg8.html

please close the bug when this is done.

-Ralf.

seems to be no build dependency on libpython2.7-dev in place, which would likely
fix the problem.

Bug#725957: GDL builds again on powerpc and kfreebsd, needs updated plplot though

Good idea, thanks for reminding me of that option.

That was the right hint, thanks! :-)

The package builds fine with cmake (current state available at [1]) on
at least powerpc and kfreebsd-i386. Haven't tested it on
kfreebsd-amd64 yet, but it's unlikely that it fails there if it
 succeeds on kfreebsd-i386 and amd64.

The only issue left is that plplot is out of date in Debian Unstable
and gnudatalanguage's build dependencies currently can't be satisfied
in Debian Unstable: libcsiro0, a dependency of libplplot11 and built
by the plplot source package, currently depends on libqhull5 which is
no more available (it has been replaced by libqhull6) in Debian
Unstable. I can't really upload gnudatalanguage before plplot is
 fixed.

To test the builds despite the missing build dependency, I took the
formerly available libqhull5 packages from Debian's snapshot archive
 at [2].

Andrew: Any news on the plplot front?

Axel,

I'm currently just doing some final tests on the 5.10.0 packages for plplot.
This
has taken a while as I've been busy with work and also a number of other issues
have needed fixing as part of the transition. I think I am there now. I'll need
a
sponsor to upload the packages. Once ready I'll put them on Debian mentors and
let
you know.

Thanks

Andrew

Hi,

It seems acetoneiso depends on fuse and fuse-iso. Both packages are not
available on kfreebsd. Either the dependency needs to be removed on these
architectures, or acetoneiso should switch back to linux-any.

Bug#725957: Bug#751718: RFP: Python GDL module - Python / GNU Data Language bridge

2014-07-01 Thread Gilles Duvert

Dear Mr. Beckert, all gdl developers,

I am perplexed by the apparent necessity for gdl to run on non-intel platforms
such as powerpc to be properly accepted by the debian distribution.

The point is, gdl is, until further notice, a free replacement of IDL to be used to run instrumental data reduction pipelines, etc. This means that the pipelines exist, are already in use with IDL, so they actually run on intel architectures only. This
explains also why gdl developers develop solely on those architectures (they have IDL in parallel to compare results, etc.). Obviously, it explains also why we are bound to find bugs when going to ppc architectures. (only one compilation bug seems even
ridiculoulsy few!).

My advice for what it is worth:

In view of this, and to stick to the alleged rationale for GDL, I think it is best to restrict the compilation of gdl to platforms, i.e., Intel 32 and 64 bits. Doing otherwise, although an interesting possibility, would, in my opinion, add suspicion about
the motives of providing a free clone of IDL.

Best regards to all, and thanks to Axel for your support for gdl in debian.

Gilles Duvert

Dear Maintainer,

please remove the doc directory from the source package. Most of the stuff
is either licensed under CC-BY-NC-ND or some other license that makes it
unfit for main.

In this context you might want to review your debian/copyright.

Thanks!

Dear maintainer,

We're aiming to migrate the archive to using wxwidgets3.0 instead of
wxwidgets2.8, and intend to drop wxwidgets2.8 before jessie is released.

I've attempted to rebuild mrpt by updating the BD to libwxgtk3.0-dev
but it the build fails - not due to the changed wx version, but due
to the issue already reported in #724466.

I also notice there's a newer upstream release (1.1.0, released
2014-02-22):

http://www.mrpt.org/download-mrpt/

And that the upstream changelog mentions changes for wx 2.9.x
compatibility (2.9.x was the development series leading to 3.0.0):

http://reference.mrpt.org/stable/changelog.html

So once the FTBFS is fixed, I think it's likely that getting mrpt to

Not quite sure how this bug ended up like this. Marked version 204-14 as
fixed, so everything should be fine now.

 afterwards:

 Only once.

 [pulseaudio] main.c: Module load failed.
[pulseaudio] main.c: Failed to initialize daemon.

 Yes, it did.

What DE/WM are you using? Were there sounds being played at the moment?

gnome-shell, everything up-to-date sid, no sounds being displayed.

When pulseaudio is working, does sound play? IIRC, gnome starts some
sounds on startup.

This error is weird, because the module load failure should just cause
pulseaudio to exit. Perhaps something caused PA to respawn repeatedly?

Does it do that if it's, like, killed at the beginning of a session?

Yes. By default, pulseaudio is autospawned whenever a connection is
attempted. You can disable this behavior in client.conf.

Did the gdm/xsession/any other log have something useful to say?
Currently I'm quite stumped as to where the bug may be.

I tried using this module in an attempt to figure out why my sound doesn't
  work
correctly, or in other words, not at all when using the defaults.

For this, try using pavucontrol. There you can see if your card is
 actually being picked up.

I tried that before to no avail as there appeared to be something wrong with
pulseaudio in general. Since then I found the problem, a misconfigured default
sink in client.conf. I don't remember editing this file at all, but maybe that
was an old config from back when.

Good that you have sound now, then.

Dear Maintainer,

We plan to add multiarch capabilities to Debian Tcl/Tk packages soon. This
currently will make ibutils FTBFS (see [1] for details).

The configure script cannot find Tk library in /usr/lib/triplet. I'd like to
propose a patch which simply points configure to that directory.

Note that we also will upgrade the default Tcl/Tk version to 8.6 before jessie
release, so please, check if ibutils works correctly after this upgrade. You
can do that using Tcl/Tk packages from experimental.

libibdm-dev - Development files for the libibdm library
libibdm1 - InfiniBand network diagnostic library
Closes: 704063 724998
Changes:
 ibutils (1.5.7-2) experimental; urgency=medium
 .
   * Fix FTBFS after upgrade tcl/tk-dev to version 8.6:
 - Add versioned depends on tcl-dev (= 8.6.0+6) and tk-dev (= 8.6.0+6).
 - Add build depend on dpkg-dev (= 1.16.0).
 - Update debian/rules to find multiarch tk-lib.
Thanks to Sergei Golovan. (Closes: #724998)
   * Patch as RedHat and use /var/cache/ibutils for the output of the
diagnostic tools instead of /tmp. CVE-2013-2561. (Closes: #704063)
   * Sync with upstream. They have released two new versions with the same
version number but adding two commits. Add patches with these commits:
 git-05a9d1a.patch and git-bd7e502.patch.
   * Remove all current Uploaders, they're welcome back anytime. Add myself
 to Uploaders.
   * Update Homepage.
   * Update Standards-Version to 3.9.5 (no changes).
   * Remove placeholder manpage ibnlparse.1.

From the beginning it had build-depends on

 wrong?

I see that libtiff4-dev is still in sid so we can't even 'check' to be 100%
sure that anything gets broken, right? (buildd's environments iirc might

puke requiring first one to be the present one)

Yeah, I think that should be fine. Sorry about that -- my script to find
all affected packages just looked for build dependencies on
libtiff4-dev. I didn't think to filter out the case where it was an
alternative with libtiff-dev or libtiff5-dev. Feel free to just close
the bugs. If I get some time, I may go through the remaining 24 open
bugs and see if others are like that as well. Thanks.

No, it's not fine. Buildds only consider the first alternative, so if
libtiff4-dev no longer exists, the package won't be able to build on the
buildds.

Heyya maintainers,

During routine processing in NEW, I discovered an incomplete / overly
minimal copyright file.

The copyright file basically states the source is tripple licensed MPL,
GPL and LGPL. Upstream source appears to just be MPL licensed.

In addition, the full text of the MPL is not present.

Please make an upload to fix this as soon as you can.

Thanks!

Bug#752845: decode Net::DNS::DomainName

2014-07-01 Thread Willem Toorop
Hi Werner,

Net::DNS::DomainName::decode is the official replacement for
Net::DNS::Packet::dn_expand:

  $object = decode Net::DNS::DomainName( \$buffer, $offset, $hash );

( $object, $next ) = decode Net::DNS::DomainName(
 \$buffer, $offset, $hash );

Creates a domain name object which represents the DNS domain name
identified by the wire-format data at the indicated offset within the
data buffer.

The argument list consists of a reference to a scalar containing the
wire-format data and specified offset. The optional reference to a hash
table provides improved efficiency of decoding compressed names by
exploiting already cached compression pointers.

The returned offset value indicates the start of the next item in the
data buffer.

Cheers,

-- Willem

PS. You might want to subscribe to our users list at
http://nlnetlabs.nl/mailman/listinfo/net-dns-users . We announce
release candidates for Net::DNS and Net::DNS::SEC on it so you can try
them out and make sure backwards compatibility isn't broken.

Bug#753439: cups: postinst fail with 'mv: can't run stat() on /etc/pam.d/cups-daemon: No such file or directory'

2014-07-01 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

Package: cups
Version: 1.7.3-3
Severity: serious

I just installed a Thinkpad X200 with a Debian 7.5 DVD image, and
started an upgrade by replacing wheezy with jessie in
/etc/apt/sources.list and running 'apt-get install isenkram
upgrade-system'. This failed while setting up cups versoin 1.7.3-3,
with this (quickly translated from Norwegian) message:

Setting up cups (1.7.3-3) ...
Preserving user changes to /etc/pam.d/cups-daemon (renamed from
/etc/pam.d/cups)...
mv: can't run stat() on /etc/pam.d/cups-daemon: No such file or
directory
dpkg: error while processing cups (--configure):
subprocess installed postinst script returned exit status 1

I did not edit the file, and suspect the postinst need to have more
special case handling. :)

Setting severity to seriuos, as this break upgrades on a untouched
installation.

Pinging this bug report again to delay autoremoval; according to the

I'm not sure if the following only happens with 0.i-2 or also with

I'm not sure why, but while it _always_ happens on one box, it happened
only once on another box.

I though can reproduce it always for at least one time by removing

Bug#753442: debootstrap: host's /run/shm gets unmounted after debootstrap run

2014-07-01 Thread Daniel Reichelt
Package: debootstrap
Version: 1.0.48+deb7u1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Hi,

after running debootstrap the host's /run/shm tmpfs mount gets unmounted. Since
the mount point /run/shm itself is set to root:root/750, this breaks any other
package which relies on being able to write to /run/shm as non-root.

(In my case, python's multiprocessing fails miserably due to the lack of write
privileges to /run/shm, which is how I noticed this issue in the first place.)

I tried debootstrap on clean and current wheezy and jessie installations, only
wheezy was affected.

Let me know if you need any further information.

Cheers
Daniel

Yeah, I think that should be fine. Sorry about that -- my script to find
all affected packages just looked for build dependencies on
libtiff4-dev. I didn't think to filter out the case where it was an
alternative with libtiff-dev or libtiff5-dev. Feel free to just close
the bugs. If I get some time, I may go through the remaining 24 open
bugs and see if others are like that as well. Thanks.

with your blessing will just close them for now (so packages do not get
removed from jessie yet)

No, it's not fine. Buildds only consider the first alternative, so if
libtiff4-dev no longer exists, the package won't be able to build on the
 buildds.

and with your argument reopening those just closed issues ;)
but for now with normal severity since FTBFS is not factual yet
(libtiff4-dev is still there). I will swap the order of those
in build-depends -- pbuilder iirc is a bit smarter, so hopefully there
would be no issues in building those backports we care about in
neurodebian

bleh -- but I just can't because then they will FTBFS now since there is

Bug#753452: mrpt: FTBFS: reverseBytesInPlace unknown to CStream.h

2014-07-01 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Source: mrpt
Version: 1:1.2.0-1
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

Builds of mrpt for big-endian platforms such as mips have been failing:

  /«PKGBUILDDIR»/libs/base/include/mrpt/utils/CStream.h: In member function
'size_t mrpt::utils::CStream::ReadBufferFixEndianness(T*, size_t)':
  /«PKGBUILDDIR»/libs/base/include/mrpt/utils/CStream.h:99:41: error:
'reverseBytesInPlace' is not a member of 'mrpt::utils'
   for (size_t i=0;iElementCount;i++)
mrpt::utils::reverseBytesInPlace(ptr[i]);

It looks like CStream.h needs to #include mrpt/utils/bits.h, which
defines the reverseBytesInPlace template. Could you please take care
of it?

Thanks!

That's interesting given that xbmc has built using the 1.9.3 version of
the library, which was release this year. The last relevant change to
libnfs was done in December 2013. I'll look into it.

Package: src:insighttoolkit4
Version: 4.5.2-1
Severity: important
Tags: sid jessie
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: ftbfs-gcc-4.9

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-4.9/g++-4.9, but succeeds to build with gcc-4.8/g++-4.8. The
severity of this report may be raised before the jessie release.

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/failed-gcc49/insighttoolkit4_4.5.2-1_unstable_gcc49.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 4.9, either set CC=gcc-4.9 CXX=g++-4.9 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures
with -Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols
files. For other C/C++ related build failures see the porting guide
at http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-4.9/porting_to.html
