Bug#894892: libkscreenlocker5: unable to unlock locked screen ("unlocking failed")
Package: libkscreenlocker5 Version: 5.27.5-2 Followup-For: Bug #894892 Dear Maintainer, tried with a fresh user, but no success. Verified and confirm, that "loginctl unlock-session XX" as normal user is unlockung the session. So it looks like this command might not be sent correctly from KDE. Tested on two computers, both running debian bookworm, actual packages, same package status. Both computers got this issue. NOT tested on my 32-bit system yet. I will tell more, if I got news. Thanks for any help. Package: libkscreenlocker5 Followup-For: Bug #894892 Dear Maintainer, I discovered, that in the bookworm repo in the package libscreenlocker5, the mentioned file "kcheckpass" is not existent. Thus the above workaround does not work. I also tried to manually copy the file from bullseye with no success and suppose, kcheckpass from bullseye is incompatible with bookworm. Bug#1042820: pim-data-exporter: Can not unpack ZIP file
Package: pim-data-exporter Version: 4:22.12.3-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I tried to import and export all mails and settings of kmail from one computer to another. Using pimdataexporter I creyated a file called "kmail1.zip". This went well, but when I tried to unpack it, I got the error "Can not unpack kmail1.zip". In console it told "unexpected end" or so. Thus, to refer the file itself is ok, I checked with "unzip kmail1.zip" and it could all be extracted. Then repacked the whole files with ARK to a new zip file called "kmail2.zip" and tried again: It does not want to unpack the file. It would be nice, if you could take a look of it or tell me another solution. Thanks for reading and have a nice day. Bug#1007252: akonadi-server is using 100 percent cpu-power
Package: akonadi-server Version: 4:20.08.3-3 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I suddenly discovered, that akonadiserver is using 100 percent cpu-power. It also looks like, that it is indexing something again and again, because it is accessing the harddrive until nothing is working any more. "Nothing is working" means, even the mousepointer is moving any more. If you stop akonadiserver (akonadictl stop), everything is working fine, until you download a new e-mail with kmail. Then you see akonadiserver running again, eating all cpu-power until the system freezes. Sadly I could not discover, why this happens and what might be the reason for it. In kmail everything is working well, only this problem with akonadiserver appears. Any ideas, what has happened? This issue appeared suddenly, although I did not change anything exept upgrading the system. Maybe it is related to some database like mysql, postgresql or mariadb? I would not like to upgrade to debian/testing only because one package is buggy. Thanks for any help. Package: akonadi-server Version: 4:20.08.3-3 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, starting kmail is starting akonadiserver. After a short while the system gets slower and slower until it is completely freezing at the end. I have to hard reset the system and reboot. Examination showed, that the process akonadiserver is using 100 percent cpu power and is using all memory it gets including swap partition. This is independent, how much meory is built in (I checked with 16GB RAM). If so, the system is no more usable, if any application is needing akonadi! So, this issue is not only important, this issue is grave, critical, serious. The system I am running is debian/bullseye (stable), but I tested and it is also existent in debian/bookworm (testing). Bug#969898: kmail: error in kmail help related to local folders
Package: kmail Version: 4:20.04.1-2 Severity: minor Dear Maintainer, in the kmail help I found an error. Please recheck and correct this is in the help text. The error I found, is in the part, where you describe, what to do, when loacal folders are double and can not be deleted. I only have the German text available, so please allow me to insert the part, which I think I am wrong. I am sure, someone in the community may translate this to find it in the Englishpart. Danach starten Sie das Programm akonadi wieder neu, indem Sie in akonadiconsole Server → Restart Server wählen oder folgendes in einer Konsole auf der Befehlszeile eingeben: snap - Ok, the error is this: First of all, the named path is wrong. It is not $HOME/.kde4/share/config, this is not existent. If all, it would be $HOME/.kde/share/config. The *kde4* existed a long time ago, but today no more. But secondary, this path is also itself wrong. Althought the named file exists below the path exists, it is not the correct one. You find also the file specialmailcollectionsrc below $HOME/.config, and this is the one which is the responsible. However, I believe, it is important, to edit BOTH files, the one below $HOME/.kde/share/config and the one below $HOME/.config. At least, this procedure worked here. It would be nice, if you could recheck this and maybe correct the text in the help files. Thank you very much! Bug#969360: kmail freezes when selecting a read mail to show
Package: kmail Version: 4:20.04.1-2 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I discovered an issue with kmail on my i386 system, debian/testing. This happens independent, of mails in html shape or ACII shape. I examined, and when I start kmail from a console, the moment I am clicking the mail I get spammed with the following messages: snip org.kde.pim.webengineviewer: WebEngine render process crashed ../../3rdparty/chromium/sandbox/linux/seccomp-bpf-helpers/sigsys_handlers.cc:**CRASHING**:seccomp-bpf failure in syscall 0403 org.kde.pim.webengineviewer: WebEngine render process crashed ../../3rdparty/chromium/sandbox/linux/seccomp-bpf-helpers/sigsys_handlers.cc:**CRASHING**:seccomp-bpf failure in syscall 0403 org.kde.pim.webengineviewer: WebEngine render process crashed ../../3rdparty/chromium/sandbox/linux/seccomp-bpf-helpers/sigsys_handlers.cc:**CRASHING**:seccomp-bpf failure in syscall 0403 org.kde.pim.webengineviewer: WebEngine render process crashed ../../3rdparty/chromium/sandbox/linux/seccomp-bpf-helpers/sigsys_handlers.cc:**CRASHING**:seccomp-bpf failure in syscall 0403 org.kde.pim.webengineviewer: WebEngine render process crashed ../../3rdparty/chromium/sandbox/linux/seccomp-bpf-helpers/sigsys_handlers.cc:**CRASHING**:seccomp-bpf failure in syscall 0403 org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: ItemRetrievalJob for request 0x2554fb0 finished org.kde.pim.webengineviewer: WebEngine render process crashed ../../3rdparty/chromium/sandbox/linux/seccomp-bpf-helpers/sigsys_handlers.cc:**CRASHING**:seccomp-bpf failure in syscall 0403 org.kde.pim.webengineviewer: WebEngine render process crashed ../../3rdparty/chromium/sandbox/linux/seccomp-bpf-helpers/sigsys_handlers.cc:**CRASHING**:seccomp-bpf failure in syscall 0403 --- and so on --- Looks like some lib is defective, but I am not sure, which one. Bug#967011: kmail does not show content of mail and freezes
Package: kmail Version: 4:20.04.1-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, since the last upgrade I discovered, that kmail is no more properly working. The problem is, that the content of a downloaded mail (or an older mail) is no more shown. When clicking on the mail, the system is eating 100 percent cpu power and freezes. So it is not usable. Please note, that thgis behaviour appears only on my 32-bit system. On my 64-bit system, where the same versions are installed (but in 64-bit), it looks ok. (However, I got the feeling, that the start and initialization has also become slower than before). I started kmail from the commandline, to see, what happens. When doing so, I got spammed with the following messages: ../../3rdparty/chromium/sandbox/linux/seccomp-bpf-helpers/sigsys_handlers.cc:**CRASHING**:seccomp-bpf failure in syscall 0403 org.kde.pim.webengineviewer: WebEngine render process crashed ../../3rdparty/chromium/sandbox/linux/seccomp-bpf-helpers/sigsys_handlers.cc:**CRASHING**:seccomp-bpf failure in syscall 0403 org.kde.pim.webengineviewer: WebEngine render process crashed ../../3rdparty/chromium/sandbox/linux/seccomp-bpf-helpers/sigsys_handlers.cc:**CRASHING**:seccomp-bpf failure in syscall 0403 As far as I searched, these messages are a problem of libqt, but I am not quite sure. Bug#963993: dolphin crashes with segfault
Package: dolphin Followup-For: Bug #963993 Dear Maintainer, in the meantime I could solve this problem for me. The cause of the crash was found in the file ~.local/share/kxmlgui5/dolphin/dolphinui.rc. When I deleted this file, I could start dolphin again. However, I do not understand, what happened, as I never edited this file. Bug#946636: kmail: no progress bar when sending e-mails
Package: kmail Version: 4:19.08.3-1 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer, in earlier versions of kmail I could see a progress bar when sending or receiving mails. It showed me, how much of the mail was sent. But some day this function disappeared. No I can see a window with the progress bar, but not growing. In fact: There is no progress bar shown in the window. It would be nice, if you could reimplement this again, as itz is very usefull especially when sending larger mails. Bug#946420: kpat is spamming with error messages
Package: kpat Version: 4:18.04.1-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I discovered that kpat is spamming the file ~/.xsession_errors with lots and lots of messages. Within a few minutes the file is grown up to several megabytes, while playing a longer time the .xsession_errors has grown to several gigabytes. Workaround is: Delete this file, it will not recreated after next start of the windowmanager. It would be nice, if you could take as look at it. The version 19.0.X is spamming, whilst the version 18.0.XXX is working well. Thank you very much for your help. Bug#929785: kmail - deleted mails appear again
Package: kmail Version: 4:18.08.3-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I would like to inform you of the following behavior: Mails, which are put into "trash" and are then deleted by "empty trash", appear after some days again in the trash folder. Among them there are mails, which are deleted several times, but appear again and again. Other older and already deleted mails suddenly appear again. This is not also annoying, it is a security hole. Because when mails are deleted, then it often has a reason: In my case there are sometimes sensitive datas content. This means: mails, which are deleted, shall be SURELY deleted and not appear again. This bug exists almost from the beginning, but from time to time, from version to version, things get worse. So I set this bugreport to "important" although "critical" would be name it better. Personally I believe, it all started with the implementation of akonadi. Maybe kmail should change to another database... Thank you for reading this mail - and sorry, but ignoring this bug for such a long time gets me really "not amused". Bug#929285: akonadi with kmail - gets not correctly syncronized
Source: akonadi Severity: important Dear Maintainer, since over 2 years there is a problem with kmail and akonadi and from version to version it got worse. The problem is this: When I want to delete mails in kmail (i.e. delete the whole inbox), it does not work, when I delete them fast. "Fast" means, either mark them all, then delete, or using the "del" key rapidly, to move the mails into the trash. Doing this slowly, it might work, but not always. Sometimes it hangs and sometimes I have to click another foder, then go back and after this I can go on. But this is not the only problem. Now I can empty the trash (and it looks like the mails are completely deleted), but after restart of kmail or sometimes a few days later, most of the mails I deleted in the "trash" folder appeared again. This is either annoying and also a security hole. When mails are deleted, I want them deleted! This last behaviour appear now for months (almost a year) and the hangings at the deleteion appear since kmail used akonadi. Obviously no one cared although I mentioned this before several times. Ah, and this bug appears on every machine, 32-bit and 64-bit, in debian/stable as well as in debian/testing. As this bug exists now for so long, I set this bugreport to "important". Besides, I am not sure, but I believe, it is not the fault of kmail, but a bug in akonadi. If you are sure, akonadi is working correctly, you may of course transfer this bugreport to kmail. Thank you very much for reading this mail. Bug#922270: kmail - "Name" column in message window can not made smaller
Package: kmail Version: 4:18.08.1-1 Severity: minor Dear Maintainer, I got into a minor problem. In the window (where the "Kmail-folder", "Inbox", "Sent" etc. folders appear), it is not possible, to resize the firs column (called "name"). The first column is very, very, very large and on the buttom of the window there appeared a slider. I did not find any way, to get rid of this (slider and get smaller column). The other columns, which can be added, like "unread mails", can be resized. I believe, this might be a bug. Thank you for reading this, any help is very welcome. Bug#911781: kmail and akoinadi not working correctly - deleted mails appear again
Package: kmail Version: 4:18.08.1-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, sadlly the playing together between kamial and akonadi is going worse from version to version. At first, when you want to delete mails, the deletion was lasting a long time. Then soime versions later, mails in inbox folder could not be deleted when deleting them fast or if you wanted to delete several mails in one stap (mark all, then delete). Either kmail hanged in a loop or the delted mails appeared again, whgen you clicked anotherfolder, then clicking inbox again. Sometimes akonadi had to be complete restartetd , to get kmail initialised. All these things I reported in the forums, but things did not imporove. And today, there is this: 1. Move a bunsch of unread mails from inbox to trash in kamil. 2. Empty the trash. 3. Click on any other folkder i.e. inbox. 4. click now trash again. 5. Tadaaa! Most mails appear again! Mails also appear after restart of kmail, restart akonadi or reboot. Even after some days they appear again! I set this report to "important" because IMHO this is a security hole, too. Maybe I want to have important mnails deleted for security reasons or what ever - and then they are not gone? This is not good! Please, if this is not a kmail problem, but an akonadi issue (what I can not verify), it would be nice, if you could inform those maintainers. Thank you for reading and any help! Bug#911215: kmail: Cannot disable HTML-switcher in Messagewindow any more
Package: kmail Version: 4:18.08.1-1 Followup-For: Bug #911215 Dear Maintainer, I believe, this issue is caused by the long text in the html-switcher. In German (I am using a German environment) there is "HTML Nacxhricht" and "Keine HTML Nachricht" which is a long text and makes the bar very long. An idea is either to shorten the text (i.e. "HTML" and "Kein HTML") or even completely left. If you decide to remove the text, its status might be shown with decent coulours (red and green?). Also a button IMO might be a good alternative. I do not know, but I believe, there are more people than me, which are alo usimg a netbook with its low resolution and get into the same issue. Package: kmail Version: 4:18.08.1-1 Severity: minor Dear Maintainer, in the laatest version of kmail (18.XX) it is no more possible, to deactivate the html-switcher in the message window (I meant the vertical bar on the left side in the message window). As I am running kmail on a netbook, which got a resolution of 1024x600, kmail is sliding below the taskbar when a mnail is NOT in HTML and HTML is set off. The html-switcher is simply too long. This behaviour existed in prior versions, but in those versions I could disable the switcher. Since the last version, I found no way to disable the html-switcher. Any idea or help is welcome. Bug#893126: oxygen-icon-theme: Missing icon for system-save in plasma
Package: oxygen-icon-theme Version: 5:5.42.0-2 Severity: minor Dear Maintainer, I found a litle bug in the oxygen icon theme. In kde/plasma the icon for system-save is missing (this is the one block, where you can choose to suspend, shutdown and other thing from the plasma menu). Reason: There is no entry for "system-save.png" in "usr/share/icons/oxygen/base/22x22/actions". Solution: I manually set a symlink to "document-save.png" with the name "system-save.png". Disclaimer: This is a workaround and a copy, how the breeze icons are configures. This works for me, but might not be correct and more must be done. Thank you for reading this and any help. Bug#887772: kmail - does not start akonadiserver automatically
Package: kmail Version: 4:17.08.3-2 Severity: minor Dear Maintainer, I do non know, if this is intended or a bug. Since kmail (version 17.X.X) one has to start akonadiserver manually, when kmail is started at the first time (and no other application needs akonadiserver). I do not know, if this behaviour was intended by the developer or a bug. I checked the chanhelog, but there was nothing mentioned in that sense. So I allow me, to point to this here. However, when this was intended by the developer(s), just close the bug. Bug#835562: baloo-kf5: baloo stopping indexing after ~5000 files
Package: baloo-kf5 Version: 5.23.0-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I found out, that baloo is not working well, as it should. There are two weired behaviours, which might be caused by the same reason. 1. Most important: baloo is stopping indexing at around 5000 indexed files. I guess, the number is responsibl by the files within a directory. When I move some directories away, the indexed files is changed, but stopping again. To look into the situation, I started baloo_file with strace (strace -e trace=open -o baloo.txt baloo_file), then tail -f baloo.txt showed me that baloo_file is stopping at a directory. I assured, that this directory will not cause the stop by moving it away. Then baloo_file stops at another directory. Note: these directories were empty, no files within. Could this be the reason? Still could not figure it out. 2. When baloo is started, IMO balooctl disable or balooctl stop should stop the baloo process, However, it does not. After the command, baloo_file and baloo_file_extractor are still running. Killing the baloo_file process manually will also stop baloo_file_extractor. I tried to delete all baloo related files below ~.local/share and ~/.config, but no success. Please note, this problem appears only on my 32-Bit system, the 64-Bit system (32-bit and 64-bit are running the same release versions!) is working well. I hope this helps a little bit. Will try the version from unstable for a test, but at the moment I am stuck. Any hints are welcome and thanks for help! Bug#833899: kmail: cannot change view of header - menu not available
Package: kmail Version: 4:16.04.3-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, with the latest kmail it is not possible, to edit the view of the headers in mail. In fact, there is also missing the complete header (is not shown at all), as well as the top bar (the one, where you can sort date, sender, receiver and so on). This one is also missing. After the update I had to configure kmail new, if this is a setting problem by myself, please let me know. But after last update, the right mouse button has no function in kde (plasma5). Of course I checked with other window-managers, for example LXDE, where the mouse buttopn is still working as a charme. Bug#827025: kde-l10n-de dependency problem with plasma-desktop 5.6.4-2
Package: kde-l10n-de Version: 4.14.0-3 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, sadly it is not possible to use kde-l10n-de with the actual version of plasma-desktop in debian strech (testing). It is a dependency problem, which might be easy fixed by the package maintainers. The package kde-l10n-de wants to deinstall plasma-desktop and plasma-desktop-data. Might be great, when you could fix the dependencies, so that we can have a German desktop again. Thank you for your help! Bug#717101: kmail: random failures to read messages
Dear Shai, dear maintainers yes, i can confirm this. (My message is in German though). Kmail2 seem to run fine except the notification you mentionened. I migrated 3 computer from kmail1 to kmail2, all got the same effect. One of the two 32-bit computers got additional problems with akonadi start. It took me hours, to get akonadi started. After that, the migration worked. Information for the maintainer: additionally to my ~/Mail structue, I get 3 new folders below Kmail-Folder - draft, queue and sent. Do not know, if they are necessary. If I delete them, they are created again. Your bug can be forced, when you are marking the Kmail-Folder, then doing File - Initialise Folder and subfolder. (Sorry, I have a German system, so here it is called Datei - Den Ordner und seine Unterordner initialisieren, which is done with STRG + F5 (= CTRL + F5). I do not know, if this is also important and related to it: From time to time, a windows pops up, and wants me to enter the password for my mailaccount. Although I have kwallet running, and the password is correct, kmail is asking again and again. To get rid of this, I entered the (already) correct password again, but this changed nothing. All my systems here are debian/jessie, 2 x 32-bit and 2 x 64-bit. All systems are on identical software versions. I do very often updates, so, if you got updates, I can test them and report very fast (within 24 hours, as I have to go to work at day). Please feel free to ask me for tests. Save your settings and logout of KDE 2. open your ~/.kde/share/config/ksmserverrc withe an editor 3. remove the comma before the required applications in this example, remove the comma before the word konsole restartCommand2=,konsole,-session,117f0100010475125550017960004 so it looks like this restartCommand2=konsole,-session,117f0100010475125550017960004 4. save and start KDE. In this file there are some lines, like these: ... ... ... program1=kwin program2=konsole restartCommand1=kwin,-session,117f010001047192411001074 restartCommand2=konsole,-session,117f0100010475125550017960004 restartStyleHint1=0 restartStyleHint2=0 ... ... ... and these: ... ... program7=kmail program8=gnomemeeting restartCommand1=kwin,-session,117f010001050003362000910_1120028486_6 78589 restartCommand2=kmix,-session,10109d7e4e700011179018100063050018_1120028481_ 961299 restartCommand3=ksensors,-session,11c0a8006300010942770810011470005_11200284 81_964044 restartCommand4=superkaramba,-session,10109d7e4e700011153179340062160031_112 0028481_965242 restartCommand5=kwalletmanager,-session,10109d7e4e700011149350480062170013_1 120028481_965509 res I discovered, that in the non-working session, there is a comma (the ,) set in front of the word kwin at the lines, were kwin is mentioned. How and who this comma is setting, I could not find out, but if you are removing it, everything is working fine. I think, the coders know more about it. I hope this helps ! Then started kmail again and got four new DIRECTORIES with subdirectories cur, new and tmp. I suppose, this is the correct form, it should be. The other form would be correct as well (single file, mbox format). This directory based format is the maildir variant. One of the things you have reported earlier, the folder being empty but the file not being zero sized, is a result of the mbox format. Deleted message are just marked as deleted, since actual deleting would require to copy all others to a temporary file and then rename this file to the original name. To avoid this on every single deletion, the copying/renaming only happend when the respective folder is compressed. I am using kamil and my home directory now for several years (yes, Linux is real stable and now since 5 years I never had to reinstall), so I suppose, the mentioned FILES are a relict of an older version of kmail, aren`t they Yes, mbox is the older default format, but since it has its own qualities, it can still be chosen when new folders are created but maildir is now the default. O.k., if everything is working fine now (as it strongly seems), how can I reimport my drafts ? Is there some way. It should be possible to just rename the respective files, e.g. rename drafts to drafts.backup and copy them into ~/Mail while KMail is not running. KMail should then at startup pick up this new file as a folder with the same name and you can copy/move the messages to the new destination. Cheers, Kevin Hi Kevin, thank you for your help. This is explaining it. I got the solution now. It is just because of a relict of old kmail versions. You can safely close the bug. Everything is working fine now. Thank you very much for your help ! Bug#449118: kmail: several errors, segfault and crashes
Am Samstag 03 November 2007 schrieb Kevin Krammer: On Saturday 03 November 2007, Hans wrote: 1. The folder trash can not be deleted. It seems, the mails are deleted, but they are NOT. The size of the file ~/Mail/trash should be set to zero with an empty trash, but it is NOT. The mails are staying in this folder. Besides this, this is also a security problem, as mails will never be securely deleted (and other persons might take a look at it) Is the trash folder of type mbox? If yes, compact it (in German Ordner komprimieren) Hi Kevin, the folders are in maildir format. 2. The content of the sent-mail folder can not be deleted. The same behavior as desribed above, with one exception: Do you mean it can't be deleted as in the mails are still visible in KMail or that they are still on disk? The LAST Mail is still visible. I can see, that it tries to delete the mail (there is a line through the text) , but it will not be deleted. The mails stay in the file ~/Mail/sent-mail, too. When trying to push the LAST(!) Mail into the trash, kmail crashes with segfault. This is definitely a bug. Does this also happen if you do Move all messages to trash from the folder's context menu? Yes, it does. 3. The content of folder drafts are no more shown, although it is still existing in ~/Mail/drafts. Hmm. While KMail is not running, remove the .drafts.index file from the mail directory and then restart KMail. Does this help? No, I tried this, too. Also forcing to rebuild a new index will not help. To force it, I deleted some lines in the trash file. Kmail remarks it, and built a new index, but no success. All mails appeared again, but could not deleted as described above. 4. Please check: I suppose, the access-rights are not set correctly by default ( I never changed them manually). ~/Mail/outbox, ~/Mail/sentmail and ~/Mail/trash got 0600, but ~/Mail/drafts got 0644. I think 0600 is the correct one, though I also have one with 0644. My guess is that this folder has been created at a time where there has probably been a bug in kdelibs or somewhere else which resulted in those access flags. Cheers, Kevin I hope, this will help. IMO there is definately a bug, which might be responsible for all described behaviours. Regards Hans-J. Ullrich -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#449118: Update
Dear maintainer, after apt-get upgrade, there is a new situation: The bug described as here... -- snip - 2. The content of the sent-mail folder can not be deleted. The same behavior as desribed above, with one exception: When trying to push the LAST(!) Mail into the trash, kmail crashes with segfault. or When trying to delete the LAST Mail directly, this is not possible. --- snap --- is no more reproducable. The segfault did not appear again, and the mails could be deleted. Anyway, the filesize of sent-mail is still not set to zero. I should add: This system is debian-amd64, full 64-bit, might be, that on 32-bit everything is working fine. On monday I will check it on my other system Regards Hans -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
