 ok, I can do that.

I acked this over an irc query, as rdeps got rebuild-tested. Updating bug status
here.

3.7 is still blocked by ghc, but 8.2 (in experimental) uses 3.9... not ideal,
but soon we'll be able to remove 3.7. We may need to wait for ghc 8.4 to remove
3.9 though.

As for 3.8, llvm-defaults now points to 4.0 and the rdeps that were using a
versioned llvm/clang have been fixed, with a couple exceptions. But we should be
able to remove 3.8 from testing soon.

I believe #866354 is a blocker for this.

BTW have you tested the build-rdeps against 4.0? What's the status?

3.9 is in a bad shape atm, but 4.0 looks good. Since your plan was to move to
4.0 as default directly, is there anything blocking that? In fact that's already
done in experimental. Have you rebuilt the rdeps so we know they are fine with
4.0 and can do this transition? Then many packages will automatically move from
3.8 to 4.0, easing the removal of 3.8.

Thanks,
Emilio

not yet!

ping? It'd be good to move away from llvm 3.8 as the default.

For now, this is blocked by two issues (3.9 has some issues, I need to
ask for a gb of 4.0):

* armhf test suite decided to start freezing

* internal error in ld for mipsel:

BTW have you tested the build-rdeps against 4.0? What's the status?
