Hola Carles:

$ dmesg | grep eth

i

$ ipconfig -a

Salut!

sudo /etc/resolv.conf...

$ sudo rmmod eth1394

I després executant
$ sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

Samsung ML-2010 a Debian Sid

2006-12-23 Thread Benjamí Villoslada
Hola,

http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Samsung-ML-2010
No he usat splix perquè el make falla molt a la Sid i no he trobat gaire casos
amb ell.

He seguit aquestes passes:

1. - Arrancar la interfície web a http://localhost:631

2. - A la pestanya administration hi veig «Samsung ML-2010 (Samsung ML-2010
USB #1)» i faig clic al botó per afegir-la.

/home/benjami/inst/cdroot/Linux/noarch/at_opt/share/ppd/ML-2010spl2.ppd

4. - La interfície web demana usuari i contrasenya. Hi entro el root. Diu que
l'ha afegit, i la veig, però en vermell i el
missatge «Samsung_ML-2010_USB_1 Filter rastertosamsungspl for
printer Samsung_ML-2010_USB_1 not available: No such file or directory»

5. - Miro el log d'errors:

--
E [23/Dec/2006:18:28:21 +0100] CUPS-Add-Modify-Printer: Unauthorized
E [23/Dec/2006:18:28:21 +0100] Filter rastertosamsungspl for
printer Samsung_ML-2010_USB_1 not available: No such file or directory
E [23/Dec/2006:18:28:44 +0100] CUPS-Add-Modify-Printer: Unauthorized
E [23/Dec/2006:18:28:44 +0100] Filter rastertosamsungspl for
printer Samsung_ML-2010_USB_1 not available: No such file or director
--

6. - L'esborro. El registre diu:

--
E [23/Dec/2006:18:31:08 +0100] CUPS-Delete-Printer: Unauthorized
--

7. - He decidit provar l'instal·lador del CD baixat de Samsung. Gràfic,
guapo.
diu «Can't add printer!» (
http://itaca.bitassa.cat/~benjami/tmp/samsungml2010cantaddprinter.png )

passa 2: ML-2010 (MFP USB Port #0).

--
E [23/Dec/2006:18:43:47 +0100] CUPS-Add-Modify-Printer: Unauthorized
--

* Problema

clar, no imprimeix res.
http://itaca.bitassa.cat/~benjami/tmp/samsungml2010lprgui.png

Tenc això instal·lat:
cupsys 1.2.7-1
cupsys-client 1.2.7-1
cupsys-common 1.2.7-1
libcupsimage2 1.2.7-1
libcupsys2 1.2.7-1

Ho pots fer per qualsevol procediment o fer:
sudo cat nameserver 192.168.0.1/etc/resolv.conf

Orestes.

Re: Samsung ML-2010 a Debian Sid (SOLUCIONAT)

Samsung i splix que recomanen a
http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Samsung-ML-2010 i el

Ho he aconseguit modificant el listen
de /etc/cups/cupsd.conf:

# Only listen for connections from the local machine.
Port 631
Listen 192.168.0.2

superior esquerra està massa alta i cap a l'esquerra. M'agradaria deixar-ho

Question à propos de Etch

2006-12-23 Thread Web.Y
Bonjour,

nie da sie go załadować przed uruchomieniem systemu (czyt. przed
INITem) . musisz go wkompilować w jądro.

/home, alguem pode me ajudar?

debian-br-cdd:~# mount /dev/sda2 /mnt -t ext3

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda2,

missing codepage or other error

(aren't you trying to mount an extended partition,

instead of some logical partition inside?)

In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try

 Existe algum similar gratuito?

 * hardware com defeito (ou problemático)
 * hardware que não segue o padrão APIC
 * bug no kernel

pra reduzir a carga do servidor.

 Obrigado!

fila, o postfix abre 12 conexoes diferentes e as envia.

 direito, o windows dá um erro;

 erro;

as permissões específicas daquele usuário funcionam nessas condições.

sitesiyiz diye kabaran tiplerin siteleriyle kıyas edilmesini istemiyorum.
Eden varsa tüm sözlerim onlaradır.

Başka da yorum yapmayacagım...

İyi çalışmalar..

Hi Charlie,
xcdroast works for me in Etch. Here's how:
1. Make sure you have installed the wodim package
2. make a symlink from /usr/bin/readom to /usr/bin/readcd
3. You need to run xcdroast as root the first time (use the -n switch) and
save the setup configuration. Then run as a normal user and also save the
setup configuration.
4. That's it.
You can also try k3b

 Just fine thank you.

When I do work as a free software volunteer, I do it because I enjoy it.
I typically enjoy it no less if someone else is paid to work on the same
project; I may even enjoy it _more_ if the resulting full-time attention

have installed both libc6 and libc6-xen since the latter depends on the
previous one (which sounds so weird). I also use a custom compiled

I compiled a pae version and installed the corresponding package for the

The problem comes from the tls, in the domU (I have not seen that with

to 'disable' the tls libraries by moving them away and that still
happens. A good example is with bcfg2:

So it seems that both version of libnsl.so.1 use a bad addressing (but
 they are not identical files).

All that would be fine if it were not segfaulting but enabling the slower

addition, most of the bots around try to guess the root password and do
not spend a lot of time for normal accounts.

Passwords long as a rat-queue are realy secure...

 1. When a hacker tries to attack a site he (or she) has to guess 2

Because each monthly summary is simply a list of the thread titles, it
leads to false hits for my keywords, for instance 'dvd mplayer menu' hits
all the monthly summaries, even when there isn't actually a msg referencing
 dvds and menus and mplayer.

Judicious use of the robots.txt file on the mail archive server would be a
simple way to remove the summaries from the search engines, for instance
 something like:

 Disallow: /**/threads.html

 linux-source-2.6.18/drivers/char/agp/intel-agp.c).

Any suggestions how to get agpgart working with the popular 965
 chipset in etch?

I had to rebuild the kernel with 2.6.19 (which is the first kernel to
have support for the intel agp device).

You will need the kernel-package package.

Download the source of the kernel from one of the kernel.org mirrors and
then expand it into a directory (say) ~/src

copy /boot/config... from your existing debian machine into
~/src/.config

then make menuconfig (or other kernel config tool).

I have an Intel DG965SS motherboard and in order to allow it to
recognise my IDE DVD RW (I have SATA hard drives) I had to make IDE
support builtin (as opposed to a module) AND the use all-generic-ide
boot parameter

then use make-kpkg to build you a deb for your machine which you then
install

(There are full instructions in /usr/share/doc/kernel-package/README.gz)

and it worked perfectly... then I discovered (amazingly enough) that
cdrecord is a symlink to wodim...

Any ideas on what's going wrong?

K3B does not work with wodim and the cdrecord simply symlinks to wodim. Since
mkisofs has also been similarly replaced, expect even more problems. There is
nothing wrong with the iso file and wodim apparently is OK with the command
line options in your dd (hey, a cool way of doing this!).

To me, there is no good reason why one cannot have both cdrecord and wodim
(and mkisofs and genisofs) one one's system. The newer upgrades throw away
the older programs which may still be needed by other software.

Of much more concern, I think, in your situation is making the the

Udev provides hotplug so installing that removes hotplug.

according to http://www.linux.com/howtos/HP-HOWTO/hp-hardware.shtml
the NetRAID 3si is supported by megaraid. You can switch over to a VT
during the install and see if megaraid is installed. use `alt-f2` to get
a VT, follow instructions to get a shell. then type `lsmod` and look for
megaraid. If its not there, try `modprobe megaraid`. Then switch back
to the installer `alt-f1` and see if that solves the problem.

The other posters advice to try an 'etch' install is good advice too.

I have seen this message before installing Windows and I believe that
this means that the appropriate RAID controller drivers are not
available. In the Windows environment I would install the drivers and
proceed. I am not sure if it is that easy in Linux. I also can not
find the appropriate drivers and I do not know how to interrupt the
installation to install them. That is if this is even the issue.

Since I am new to Linux I would really appreciate it if the explanation
is in its simplest form. That does not mean that I am computer
illiterate, just new to Linux. Please don't assume that I will
understand anything but the simplest Linux commands. However, I follow
 direction extremely well.

welcome and good luck. its a fun ride.

yeah, makes sense.

(I do not - I prefer to make a standard size partition for Root, and
then use LVM to add logical volumes to that as and when necessary)

I have everything on raid but not lvm - but LVM I then use for

 /var/cache
 /usr/lib/openoffice

heh heh. that's funny. I know its bloated, but giving it a whole lvm

Udev provides hotplug so installing that removes hotplug.

IIRC, the transition to udev *requires* the purging of hotplug and
explicitly says so in the upgrade.

questions for when Etch goes stable

2006-12-23 Thread Nigel Henry
I've presently got 2 Sarge installs on the stable repo, and Etch on the
testing repo. I've seen more than one post saying that testing was frozen,
but since then I've had more updates for Etch, and tonight another 50MB of
updates.

I will probably keep my Etch install on testing when it goes stable, but
forget what the new testing install is named. Doh.

One of my Sarge installs I will keep on the stable repo, which on dialup will
be a lot of fun, as it upgrades to Etch

The other Sarge install I will rename in /etc/apt/sources.list to sarge. what
will be the status of this Sarge install? Are there going to be any updates,
bugfixes, security fixes, or is this Sarge install going to be a lost cause?
I will probably keep this install on the Sarge repo, as folks from time to
time who havn't upgraded, might have questions related to Sarge, and it's
nice to be able to boot up an older version to check how it's setup, and
perhaps provide some answers to questions.

Have a nice holiday.

Nigel.

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking, but this may help.

If you want Sarge to stay Sarge, then use sarge in the sources.list. If
you want it to stay stable, then use stable. Same with Etch, if you
want the system to stay Etch when Etch goes stable, then use etch in the
sources.list. However, if you want it to stay testing, then use
testing. Easy as pie.

I am unable to use monotone properly over an NFS mount because it very
sensibly tries to lock its repository before modifying it.

You NEEED to mount your NFS-Share HARD in your /etc/fstab with:

 nfsserver:/directory /datadir nfs
 rw,bg,hard,intr,tcp,vers=3,wsize=8192,rsize=8192 0 0
     ^^^ ^^

and it seems, that some things are working only correctly,
if you use tcp and vers=3. Be sure, you have compiled
this options into your kernel or kernel-module.

Thanks. This looks like information that I haven't been able to find
any other way, despite looking for several months. I'm trying to try
this now (firsttrying to find mention of what you're telling me in the
documentation so I'll understand what I'm doing), but my nfs man pages
mention options nfsvers and mountvers, but not vers. The etch man pages
mentions NFS versions 1, 2, 3 and 4, but the sarge man pages (sarge is
the client) mentions only 1 and 2.

Of course I'll try it anyway as soon as my users are
out of the way, but I find myself wondering whether these are manual
deficiencies or functional limitations in the sarge and etch releases.

Yea, I was wondering something similar. I'm running
etch. After I read the replies, I checked my source list - and, all are etch,
except CD #1 and #2, which are testing_etch.

So, when etch becomes stable, I just simply need to install the updates and
then it will be the same as stable etch?

Query re: disk free (df) output

2006-12-23 Thread andy

Hey all

Quick questions about the output of df -lh on a single-user Etch:

FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hdb1 12G 3.7G 7.8G 32% /
udev 10M 96K 10M 1% /dev
devshm443M 0 443M 0% /dev/shm
/dev/hdb3 169G 4.3G 156G 3% /home

What are /dev and why is shm a sub-folder of /dev mounted separately?

Being new to Deb it's just one of a distro-specific curiosity perhaps?

Anyway, just curious if anyone has any thoughts.

Cheers and compliments of the season to those who recognise it.

It might be a good idea to add a note about how to use syslinux to
install an MBR, as install-mbr seem to be Debian-specific. I prepared a
etch USB-stick install from a RedHat system the other day by doing
'$ cat /usr/lib/syslinux/mbr.bin /dev/sda'

/var/run and var/lock must NOT be on the root partition.
[...snip...]

As of right NOW, Ubuntu uses a different way of booting.

*IF* /var/run and /var/lock are NOT on the initial root (/) filesystem
before the other filesystems are mounted then it fails to boot properly.

In fact /etc/init.d/mountvirtfs executed early (S01) in the boot
process has the initial mounting of the tmpfs stuff in it here it is:

# Mount standard /proc filesystem
TYPE=
case $KERNEL in
Linux|GNU)
TYPE=proc
;;
*FreeBSD)
TYPE=linprocfs
;;
*)
TYPE=procfs
;;
esac

# Mount standard /proc and /sys.
domount $TYPE /proc
domount sysfs /sys

# Mount /var/run and /var/lock as tmpfs.
# /var may be on another drive so create /var/run if we need to
domount tmpfs /var/run -o mode=0755
domount tmpfs /var/lock -o mode=1777

# Mount /proc/bus/usb -- though all software should be modified to
# use /dev/bus/usb instead now
domount usbfs /proc/bus/usb

Then later in the boot process, it remounts the dirs to a safe
location for saving later... then once /var is properly mounted it
remounts them where they properly need to be. Done in mtab (S22) then in
mountall (S35)

I KNOW this is the way it is in Ubuntu, I had a server I setup for a
customer. After I did initial setup, I had to add a real Raid Array
(2.2TB) to various filesystems of which one was /var (before /var was on
root). During the re-deploy I missed making the /var/run and /var/lock
directories as *I* would NEVER have done that normally. This caused
failing to reboot properly, not bringing up the NICs and periodically
falling off the network as well.

I got to make a 2 hour each way and 3-5 hour troubleshooting Gratis
travel call each time this thing failed. (4 times)

It was tracked down to there NOT being /var/run and /var/lock on the
root(/) filesystem

So, please DO NOT tell me what NOT to do. I specified this was on Ubuntu
on the off chance the person was using Ubuntu.

I'll bet the Lenny (Etch+1) has this.
