j'ai un Dell Latitude D830 qui fonctionne t. bien sous Debian. Tout le matos est reconnu. Les Dell Latitude D font partie de la gamme portables professionnels de Dell. Ils sont solides, chers, dockables, garanties, ... achetables sans OS dans le cadre de marchés publics,... Et c'est vrai que linux fonctionne très bien dessus (debian particulièrement ;-). Les périphériques sont tous reconnus. Le seul problème que je rencontre sous sid avec un D630, c'est la mise en veille en mode dock qui ne marche pas toujours (selon les mises à jour). Mais cette gamme (Latitude D) n'est peut-être pas adaptée à un particulier (très cher) ? Merci du retour, chez moi c'est revenu à la normal avec le noyau 2.6.27-1 d'experimental. Précédemment je compilais sans /proc pour éviter les blocages, là j'ai pu remettre tout normalement, même avec acpid et powernowd ou cpudyn ça ne gel plus. Je n'ai rien changé d'autre. WIFI et guessnet

cpu avec openoffice
Bonjour à tous Depuis une semaine ou 2, avec Lenny, Openoffice writer consomme beaucoup de cpu. Il m'est devenu difficile de faire défiler les pages, de copier coller, car de temps en temps, tout se bloque. Openoffice.org est la seule application à se comporter de cette façon. J'ai supprimé la conf ds le répertoire perso, relancé oofice, rien n'y fait. J'ai également lancé openoffice.org-3 qui fonctionne normalement et que je vais donc utiliser. J'aimerais savoir si je suis le seul à subir ce genre problème. Bonjour, Après des essais + ou - infructueux voici où j'en suis arrivé : TLS/Auth j'ai bien réussi à mettre une authentification et un passage en TLS (Ajout de la macro MAI_TLS_ENABLE = 1 dans le ficheir de conf) Ensuite j'ai essayé utiliser mon PDA pour envoyer des mail : échec total ! Il attend une connexion SSL ! SSL J'ai déconfiguré le TLS mais pas l'Authetification, J'ai mis en place stunnel pour faire un tunnel en local Conclusion mitigée : 1/ la connexion SSL fonction, 2/ Authentification dans les choux avec ceci comme rejet dans les log 2008-10-19 18:29:18 login authenticator failed for localhost (Inbox) [127.0.0.1]: 501 Invalid base64 data Bon alors ne voyant pas ce qui passe dans le tube, j'envoie ce mail et essaie de mettre en place un sniffer... merci des conseils. probleme XWindow avec une installation Etch sur un Thinkpad 600
Bonjour à tous,
Je me suis risqué à une install de Debian Etch sur ce vieux portable.
Auparavant cet outil tournait sur RedHat 7.2 ; je me dois d'ajouter qu'il
tournait merveilleusement. Malheureusement, j'ai échoué dans une
tentative obstinée pour installer 'wpa_supplicant' : la compilation se
plantait sur chacune des versions essayées. Après un essai
infructueux avec RH 7.3, j'ai décidé d'installer Debian Etch, et ce,
avec beaucoup d'appréhension : mon vieux matériel allait il satisfaire
aux exigences de cette distribution récente ? J'ai 300 MHz de vitesse
d'horloge, 130 MB de RAM et 4 GB de capacité disque.
L'installation, à partir d'une image iso téléchargée, et d'une
connexion ethernet via carte pcmcia sur ma livebox, s'est bien déroulée.
ou plutôt les installations, car j'ai essayé tour à tour plusieurs
configs. D'abord j'avais choisi l'installation environnement graphique de
bureau avec ordinateur portable. Cela a aboutit... à ceci près qu'il
apparaissait évident que la configuration graphique s'était mal passée,
et que le système s'était sans doute réfugié sur des valeurs
minimalistes : l'affichage ne prenait pas toute la place disponible sur
l'écran, mais seulement environ 90 ou 95%, et ce, non centré. La
définition des icônes et du texte était très très médiocre... la
définition était possiblement du 340x600 voire moins. A vrai dire
l'environnement Gnome ne m'intéressait pas, et je pensais m'en
débarrasser pour fvwm, mais j'ai trouvé à ce stade plus simple de
refaire une installation de Etch avec des options réduites, avec
l'intention d'ajouter fvwm à postériori.
Je refis donc une installation de Etch en ayant décoché l'option
environnement graphique de bureau pour mettre simplement ordinateur
portable. Ce fut beaucoup plus rapide et, au final, je me retrouvai
sur la console avec un taux d'occupation disque à 18%, contre 73%
auparavant avec Gnome etc. Restait à installer fvwm... Je n'y suis pas
encore arrivé ! A l'aide de apt-get install, j'ai installé un certain
nombre de choses:
fvwm, fvwm-icons, xfs, perl-tk, m4, cpp, libx11-protocol-perl,
xfonts-base, xserver-org, xserver-org-core, xserver-org-dev,
xserver-org-input-magictouch, xserver-org-input-all,
xserver-xorg-video-neomagic, xserver-xorg-video-all, neomagic,
gsynaptics, qsynaptics, xresprobe... et j'en oublie sans doute...
Je précise que ma carte graphique est une Neomagic NM2160 (MagicGraph
128XD), et que mon système Etch la reconnaît comme telle dès le boot,
comme le fichier log en témoigne :

Ceci étant fait, j'ai tenté plusieurs fois la commande :
dpkg-reconfigure -plow xserver-xorg
Cà n'a jamais fonctionné correctement, quelle que soit la config
choisie. Avec le choix du pilote graphique neomagic (proposé par
défaut), les options ad hoc pour le clavier et la souris, 'ecran
generique' pour écran, un seul mode video coché : 1024x768 (j'ai aussi
essayé d'autres modes, mais çà n'allait pas avec la taille de l'écran)
et, quant aux fréquences de rafraîchissement horizontal et vertical,
j'ai confirmé celles trouvées automatiquement par le programme, soit
28-64 KHz pour l'horizontal et 43-60 Hz pour le vertical. Pour la
profondeur de couleur par défaut, j'ai choisi 16 bits (mais j'ai aussi
fait des essais avec 15 bits, et même avec 8 bits et 24 bits). Ceci
étant fait, je me retrouve sur la console, d'où je tape startx. Cà
démarre alors comme çà démarrait précédemment avec mon installation
RH7.2, à ceci près qu'avec cette dernière l'écran strié ne restait
que quelques secondes et faisait rapidement place à l'environnement
graphique normalement attendu, alors qu'ici, avec mon installation Etch,
çà reste indéfiniment sur cet écran strié, sans aucune icône ni
texte. A noter que rien n'est bloqué. Je vois la croix générée
par la souris, je peux la déplacer normalement. Un click gauche sur le
bouton de la souris m'affiche un panneau intitulé 'menu interne', mais si
je clique sur l'option 1 (Xterm), aucun xterm n'apparaît. Les autres
options paraissent opérationnelles (Debian menu, quitter fvwm...).
Il est donc évident qu'il me manque quelque chose.
la lecture de /var/log/Xorg.0.log ne m'a pas beaucoup renseigné sur la
nature de mon problème. Ce fichier, ainsi que deux autres logfiles sont
affichées à http://www.teaser.fr/~bdebreil/logfiles
(Xorg.0.log n'étant pas le premier fichier, il faut faire usage de
l'ascenseur)

Bonjour, Donc le dernier problème venait une recopie trop rapide d'un exemple et du prompt du login (dans le fichier de configuration de exim) qui avait un préfixe non reconnu par le PDA. Pour résumé : - passage en heavy de exim4, - configuration avec clamsmtp donc : - règle de redirection du port 25 (iptable) - attente sur deux autres port pour exim et clamsmtp - configuration de sa-exim - configuration de login pour pam - ajout de debian-exim dans le groupe shadow - pas de mise en place de TLS - installation dans rc.local du démarrage de stunnel4 - configuration de stunnel4 pour création d'un tunnel entre le port 465 et le port exim sur localhost. Voilà, avec cela j'ai réussi à envoyer un mail depuis le PDA. Cependant, cette solution sembler masquer l'IP source du message alors qu'elle est disponible dans stunnel. Ceci m'ennuie un peu puisque j'ai essayé de configurer exim pour que si une connexion n'est pas du réseau local il faut une connexion obligatoire... En fait, comment configurer exim pour se passer de stunnel et avoir une configuration complète incluant ssl, TLS si besoin et les vérifications d'authentification en fonction des source de connexions ? Je précise que ma carte graphique est une Neomagic NM2160 (MagicGraph 128XD), et que mon système Etch la reconnaît comme telle dès le boot, comme le fichier log en témoigne : [...] Cà n'a jamais fonctionné correctement, quelle que soit la config choisie. Avec le choix du pilote graphique neomagic (proposé par défaut), les options ad hoc pour le clavier et la souris, 'ecran generique' pour écran, un seul mode video coché : 1024x768 (j'ai aussi essayé d'autres modes, mais çà n'allait pas avec la taille de l'écran) et, quant aux fréquences de rafraîchissement horizontal et vertical, j'ai confirmé celles trouvées automatiquement par le programme, soit 28-64 KHz pour l'horizontal et 43-60 Hz pour le vertical. Pour la profondeur de couleur par défaut, j'ai choisi 16 bits (mais j'ai aussi fait des essais avec 15 bits, et même avec 8 bits et 24 bits). Ceci étant fait, je me retrouve sur la console, d'où je tape startx. Cà démarre alors comme çà démarrait précédemment avec mon installation RH7.2, à ceci près qu'avec cette dernière l'écran strié ne restait [...] Installes le serveur Vesa, C'est un serveur generique qui te comblera. Il te suffira après de configurer le bureau en 800x600 ou 1024x768 selon les capacités de ta carte graphique. Vesa est très solide et ne devrait pas poser de problèmes. probleme fvwm avec Debian Etch sur Thinkpad 600
Merci pour cette recommandation: j'ai voulu installer VESA... mais il m'a été répondu que c'était déjà installé dans la version la plus récente (xserver-xorg-video-vesa). J'ai donc refait l'essai de lancer X après un dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg en inscrivant le server VESA au lieu de Neomagic. Le fichier Xorg.0.log a bien pris cette modification en compte, mais le résultat est exactement le même que précédemment, c'est à dire que startx ne donne qu'un affichage strié et inactif. Je refis donc une installation de Etch en ayant décoché l'option environnement graphique de bureau pour mettre simplement ordinateur portable. Ce fut beaucoup plus rapide et, au final, je me retrouvai sur la console avec un taux d'occupation disque à 18%, contre 73% auparavant avec Gnome etc. Restait à installer fvwm... Je n'y suis pas encore arrivé ! Pero esto funcionaría en una situación normal ahora no. Que ocurre? pues que lenny esta froze :) con lo que no entran paquetes de sid. Con el retraso no se si han cambiado su estado, así a lo mejor han vuelto a entrar paquetes. Lo dudo conociendo debian, con lo cual si quieres lenny reinstala, si no, pues quedate con la sid. Hay mucho bulo sobre la supuesta inestabilidad de sid, eso era hace años.. ahora (no se en los últimos 9 meses no he tenido ningún incidente reseñable). Otra cosa es si te metes en una sid/experimental ahí hay que tener mas cuidado. Y teniendolo pos no pasa nada yo uso una sid/experimental y tan feliz y contenta. Esto es solo una cuestión de gustos y de la cantidad de horas que quieras meter para mantener tu máquina. Encriptar ficheros en uso, ¿Es esto posible en Linux?
Buenas, os comento: En Windows tengo un programa que se llama Folder Guard Pro, que uso para esconder, denegar el acceso y dejar carpetas y archivos en sólo lectura. El caso es que también se pueden poner excepciones de programas que sí pueden utilizarlos a pesar de estar encriptados. Bueno, a lo que voy: Me gustaría encriptar archivos como por ejemplo los archivos de Iceweasel que utilizo y donde guardo mis contraseñas de todo junto con mis marcadores, otros archivos más que quiero abrir con determinados programas, etc. ¿Existe una solución que pueda hacer esto en Linux? Muchísimas gracias por las molestias de responder.

De todas maneras, la mejor solucion ya te la dijeron, comentas (o borras si asi lo deseas) esa linea, haces un aptitude (o apt-get) update y listo, solucionado el problema. Pero ya hoy en día, teniendo lenny instalado sólo tendrás actualizaciones de seguridad. Instalé el Lenny de los repositorios oficiales hace menos de 15 días. Por defecto mysql viene SIN CONTRASEÑA ROOT, lo que tu has hecho ha sido
configurar phpmyadmin para que se conecte con una contraseña que no ha sido
configurada en mysql.
abre una consola y conectate usando: mysql -h localhost -u root y en la
shell de mysql escribes: |update users set password=PASSWORD('aqui el
password') where user='root';
y listo.
Asegúrate de que corresponda con la contraseña configurada en phpmyadmin,

A ver, localhost y 127.0.0.1 vamos que es lo mismo.
En phpmyadmin si se puede meter password al motor de mysql, así que recuerda
cual colocaste a 127.0.0.1 y cual a localhost, el ultimo pude ser el
efectivo. Por que al final estasmos hablando de una conexion al mismo
sistema.

Puedes cifrar las particiones para cuando las montes al inicio te pida una contraseña en caso de que tuvieras una intrusion fisica no sería posible leer los datos de esa particion a no ser que supieran tu contraseña. Otra posibilidad es la de cifrar la swap de manera que tampoco se pudiera investigar la memoria en busca de trozos de ficheros que no quisieras que viera nadie. Lo que tambien puedes hacer es usar un trozo de archivo y convertirlo en una especie de disposivo de bloques el cual tu montas y vas metiendo ahi tus archivos, como una especie de caja fuerte. No soy un experto a si lo puedes buscar documentacion por google mucho mejor :) Para todo ello puedes usar software como: Encfs, truecrypt, dm-crypt o loop-aes. A tu pregunta real de si se puede hacer eso en tiempo real osea, que escribas un fichero y se cifre automaticamente en el disco y cuando vuelvas a necesitarlo se descifre y luego se vuelva a cifrar no estoy muy seguro, pero te digo una cosa: Linux se caracteriza por usar mucho la escritura en disco para la mayor parte de sus operaciones y esto puede ocasionar que la perdida de rendimiento sea altamente razonable a si que lo mejor es que te informes bien antes de hacer nada o fijarte en tus verdaderas necesidades. Puedes mirar a ver si tienes instalado el paquete hotkey-setup, y si lo tienes entonces, si usas Gnome (en los demás no sé como va), te vas a Sistema - Preferencias - Combinaciones de teclas; y ahí buscas donde pone Sonido Silenciar, Bajar, y pinchando en cada uno mueves la rueda para el gesto con el que quieres que haga esa función. Todo esto suponiendo que la ruedecita que dices sea de estas que es realmente como un botón que está en el centro y que puedes mover a un lado o a otro y vuelve al centro, aunque por fuera parezca una ruedecilla. En mi Toshiba es así. Ragnarok Online en Debian Etch.
Hola a todos. Primera vez que escribo a esta lista, y es para preguntar si alguien ha podido correr y jugar correctamente este juego en debian stable (etch). A ver si me echan una mano con eso. Soy un usuario de linux relativamente nuevo, llevo 2 años utilizando debian stable como SO de escritorio y ya me he desligado de casi todos los programas propietarios de windows, a excepción de este... El tema es que me tiene muy viciado el jueguito este y actualmente es la única razón por la que aún tengo windows en mi PC. Quisiera poder correrlo en debian etch y así poder migrar a linux definitivamente. He intentado correrlo emulado con wine y cedega: cedega no me ejecuta el juego, en vez de eso sale un mensaje de error que dice Load MapInfo Table Failed!; con wine sí se ejecuta y he podido (con dificultad porque va lentísimo) logearme, pero no entra al juego en sí, si no que se queda congelado. ¿Algún aporte o sugerencia? Get it now! http://www.live.com/getstarted.aspx revisaste el estado del programa en appdb en winehq? tienes activada la aceleracion de tu tarjeta? nota: la primera vez ke intente correr cs 1.6 lo hice sin aceleracion y corria leenticimo, yo diria unos 10 fps mas menos. pero una vez instalados los driver y ke el glxinfo |grep direct me dio YES anduvo de pelos(100+ fps. res:640x480 16bits opengl). Problemas com placa de som Realtek ALC662 rev1
Não venho tendo grandes problemas com o som no Debian Lenny, apenas alguns pequenos aborrecimentos. Em primeiro lugar, não consigo gravar áudio, nem por programas como Recordmydesktop e nem pelo gravador de som do Gnome. Já habilitei todos os controles no Mixer, botei tudo no máximo e nada. Em segundo lugar, meu mute não funciona. Se eu clico com o botão direito no controle de volume do gnome e marco sem áudio o som continua rolando. Já tentei compilar a versão mais recente dos alsa-drivers e afins: não adiantou. Compilei o kernel 2.6.27 para testar: nada. Puppy Linux e Sidux também não resolveram. Depois faço um diff com os originais, sendo que crio os originais (dump de banco de dados e outros) no /dev/shm para agilizar, mas isso implica em ter memória para isso. Lenny mostrando hora errada.
Pessoal, uso o Debian Etch desde que foi lançado, no entanto, há pouco mais de uma semana resolvi baixar o Testing e instalá-lo em uma partição separada. O relógio da BIOS está marcando a hora em UTC (3 horas a mais que aqui no Brasil), de forma que no SO só preciso especificar o fuso-horário para que a hora seja mostrada de forma correta. Em ambas versões, usei o NTP para acertar o relogio, porem, o problema ainda continua, ficando o Lenny mostrando o mesmo horario que o relogio da BIOS, mesmo com o fuso-horario ja especificado. Sempre que corrijo a hora em uma, a outra fica com a hora atrasada ou adiantada... Mais alguem está com o mesmo problema? So I think it's not the right way to edit /boot/grub/grub.cfg. Better
edit the templates in /etc/grub.d and then run update-grub.

*inspect* /boot/grub/grub.cfg is good thing.
If other partition has an old broken grub configuration due to broken grub
installation caused by rc2 d-i, update-grub does not work as expected.
So as a last resort measure, we can edit it (but do not blame others if
your modificatio is overwritten by runing update-grub.)

Fluxbox Very Slow Window Movement and Lag
I posted this on the Fluxbox mailing lists and have had no response unfortunately. I am hoping that Debian Users may be able to provide some insight or resolution to this problem. With Opaque Window moving enabled when I move a Window around the screen it lags behind the mouse pointer considerably. So much so that I can count a number of seconds depending on how long I wiggle the mouse around the screen before the window catches up. Typing in window (terminals etc) is fine and loading windows is quick its mainly moving and resizing although resizing is less noticeable as it doesn't draw the window as it resizes I orginally thought it was something to do with X and my ATI Radeon card and had been troubleshooting it from that perspective until I installed openbox and e16 as a test and found that they run perfect and are nice and fast. I am running a minimal Debian Lenny AMD64 netinst. Graphics card is an ATI Radeon 4850 with the latest Drivers from ATI 8.10 I notice that if I use the Vesa driver it improves but the slow/lagging window problem is still there just not as prominent. Perhaps i'm missing some required dependancies for fluxbox??? Why the BLEEP was my sound removed?
Hi, I just upgraded from Etch to Lenny on my laptop. Normally I get sound working using the snd-maestro3 module, but I can see that support has been removed. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=464191 This is something that is affecting a lot of users. Yes, I can use 2.6.18 instead of 2.6.26, and yes I can download and installed firmware manually, but hell then I might as well run something different if I have to mess around like that to get sound working. Hi, Kernel 2.6.23-1 is the last kernel I seem to be able to run and have my laptop go to sleep. I am trying to figure out what i need to do to make the newer kernels sleep, but am a bit stuck. Can anyone give me some pointers to try and figure out what I might be missing to make it work? I admit I don't entirely understand how ACPI works... What is in the kernel log when the sleep/resume breaks? etc. Youre right - the laptop details will help: IBM T43p I will look into bios updates too though they are going to be tricky as it seems i need a non-usb floppy or windows xp (neither of which I have) The laptop doesn't go to sleep - I use the kde powermanagement tool to set the sleep when the lid is closed, but in the newer kernels it just doesnt work - all the sleep options are greyed out and I can't figure out why. I have looked through various logs but have been unable to find pretty much anything acpi/sleep related at all. Maybe the problem is not the kernel... i suppose it could be that kde doesnt like something in the newer kernels. Samba domain not found
I am trying to setup a Samba domain inside an Active Directory network. This is a separate domain and will be replacing the AD, the problem is that one of the machines connected to the AD cannot find the domain when told to use it. We can see this domain when we goto Network Places (Windows XP) but are unable to access it. We are really at a loss here, as I previously setup a test domain and it worked (this was a couple of months ago), this machine was then completly reinstalled and this new domain isn't working. I initially set up the domain in a VM (this was at home) and this worked. Has anyone had this issue before and solved it, I can't seem to convince Uncle Google to give me an answer. Compiling alsa-driver-1.0.17 for Debian etch

(1) Downloaded alsa driver 1.0.17 to /path/to/alsa_driver.
(2) Installed build-essential, kernel-package and linux-headers-2.6.18-6.
(3) Changed to /path/to/alsa_driver and unpacked tar-file using 'tar
xjvf alsa-driver-1.0.17.tar.bz2'.
(4) Changed to alsa-driver-1.0.17 (directory with unpacked files).
(5) Typed './configure'.
(6) Typed 'make'.

Many patches have been added to the alsa driver since 1.0.12rc1, particularly with reference to the snd-hda-intel module, so go to the link below, and download alsa driver 1.0.17, which is the current stable version. http://alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Main_Page I'd suggest creating a new folder in your /home/user directory for this Alsa stuff. I simply name mine Alsa-drivers, and download all the Alsa packages into this folder/directory. You now need to install some packages, so as to get your newly downloaded alsa driver built, and installed. Su to root on the CLI, and open synaptic, and install the following packages. build-essential kernel-package linux-headers-2.6.18-6 That done, close synaptic,and run apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r) This will install the headers for your kernel. Now to build, and install the 1.0.17 alsa driver. As user, cd to where you downloaded the driver, then do: tar xjvf alsa-driver-1.0.17.tar.bz2 A new folder/directory has now been created, so do: cd alsa-driver-1.0.17 Now type: ./configure, and when that runs to completion, type: make, which may take some time. When make completes, with hopefully no errors, su to root, and type make install. If all has gone well, and after a reboot, (using the Etch kernel, not the musix one, if you've also installed that) running cat /proc/asound/version should now show the alsa driver as 1.0.17. Now you may, or may not have better control of sounds on your T60. That seems to work on my laptop. See threat *Compiling alsa-driver-1.0.17 for Debian etch* on this list for details. I have looked through various logs but have been unable to find pretty much anything acpi/sleep related at all. Maybe the problem is not the kernel... i suppose it could be that kde doesnt like something in the newer kernels. Anton There have been many updates to the various ACPI tools and support programs and daemons. Most of them are in sid. You may need to update these things as well as the kernel. file mailing utility?
Hi Folks, I'm not really sure where to ask this question, but I expect that someone on this list will have ideas. I find myself, more and more, having to send large files to people by email - which, of course runs into lots of problems both on the outgoing and receiving ends. I've started to use some of the on-line services that will upload a file to temporary storage, then forward a link, by email, to recipients - who can then click the link and download the files (e.g., filemail.com, pando.com). But, since I happen to run several servers (Debian LAMP environment, Postfix for email), I've started to look for a utility I can install that will provide this same functionality.
