Bonjour,

# strings /dev/sdc | less

# strings /dev/sdb2 | head
LABELONE
LVM2 001uFcfV8W2JjGM0N3U3gNhGputlEpsO6RJ
 LVM2 x[5A%r0N*
vgsys {
id = NTcX1t-zJJ7-JcMI-jgWE-cGRn-YhpA-9wsB2E
seqno = 58
status = [RESIZEABLE, READ, WRITE]
extent_size = 8192
max_lv = 0
max_pv = 0

expert).

32 bits. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_hole

que ca n'est pas le boxon sur la télévision -;

David Hautbois a écrit :

smtps inet n - n - - smtpd
  -o smtpd_tls_wrappermode=yes

Co do Postgresa, najważniejsze rzeczy masz w dokumentacji (a jakże):
http://www.postfix.org/PGSQL_README.html

descifrado'? Yo no lo creo.

saludos.
Marc

2009-06-20 Thread Welington R. Braga

Lenny does not recognise blank CD; Etch does.

2009-06-20 Thread Bruce Ward
I have a machine with a dvd writer (/dev/hdc) and a cd writer
(/dev/hdd). I have an Etch installation on an ATA HDD, and all works well.

I also have, on the same machine, a fresh Lenny installation which is on
a SATA disk. In both cases I use a standard (I believe) GNOME setup.

Unfortunately (because I wish to move to Lenny and remove the Etch),
under Lenny, the CD writer will not recognise a blank CD. Nothing. The
DVD writer will recognise one.

Etch has no such problem, both drives recognise a blank CD.

Why worry about the situation? Well I have found that CDs written slowly
with the old CD writer seem to be more reliably read in other CD drives,
and I just like to have everything working that should work!

Any ideas?

Thanks.

kcontrol messes things up. Here's what I did:

1. Purged all packages which depended on kdelibs
2. Removed ~/.kde
3. Reinstalled amarok

All toolbars appeared correctly. But the fonts were too big.

4. Reinstalled kcontrol
5. Changed the font's size to 9

The icons disappeared from the toolbar ! That's what happened yesterday,
since I installed all KDE application first, tinkered with them,
realized the fonts were too big, googled on it, and installed kcontrol
as someone had suggested.

My doubts now are:

1. Should I open a bug report with the KDE team ?
2. Is there another way of configuring the fonts for all KDE
applications without resorting to kcontrol ?

But there was no characters on the window except for a text cursor box found

Did it have the normal prompt of your shell of choice? Was the text

I couldn't input any text from keyboard, and no mouse pointer found.

I have noticed that the mouse cursor can now be invisible (black on
black) for the standard X cursor theme. Try to move the mouse upwards
and to left until you hit the xterm window. Then you should see the
mouse cursor and the text cursor should change from white with a black
outline to fully black. Once that happens it should be possible to type
commands at the xterm prompt.

The window border was jaggy and ugly.

That is probably OK for our primitive test session. (I would need to see
a photo to be sure, though.)

There was no gray-black tiles on the root window, only black background.

That is OK; the new Xorg changed the default background color from grey
to black.

If you have a hardware random number generator that is supported by your

application/octet-stream is a generic mime type which means The content
is something I don't recognize, but it isn't text based.

The mime type reported by Iceape is the mime type the sender's MUA set
(if iceape behaves like most MUAs).

You might want to save the document, then right click on it to get the
properties and/or open it.

If you run a freedesktop compatible Desktop environnement (Gnome, KDE),
and if the content still isn't recognized, it probably means that it's a
weird format that is probably unsupported :( If you are pretty sure it's
a picture, you can try to open it with gimp, or use Imagemagick's
identify command.

Hope this helps,

Problems when Update/upgrade testing with apt/aptitude

2009-06-20 Thread troppero

Hello!

A few days ago, I made an Update/Upgrade with Synaptic. All goes good until
when debconf doing configuring menu (or actualize the menu triggers) it stays
for ever. I Ctrl-C'ed to finish.

Now, I will run apt or aptitude and it shows an error:

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct
the problem.

I run it as shows here:

[jav...@segundo] dpkg --configure -a
Configurando menu (2.1.41) ...
Procesando disparadores para menu ...
accersicer
adduser
snipped to make it short .
libz-dev
zlibz-dev
[jav...@segundo]

I finish it three hours later with Ctrl-C. I see that is a problem with menu
package as I run update-menus I get the same hang.

I probed some commands to see if can fix it:
- apt-get -f install
- dpkg-reconfigure -a this with other behavior!

I can't figure how to solve it. Can you tell me some hints?

Thanks.

Re: CONFIG_INITRAMFS_SOURCE ??

2009-06-20 Thread Dave Witbrodt

What is CONFIG_INITRAMFS_SOURCE ?
How can I use it to update my Debian GNU/Linux system kernel to 2.6.30 ?

You cannot use it to update your kernel. It is merely one kernel
configuration option among many.

The CONFIG_INITRAMFS_SOURCE option is for providing a text file (during
the kernel build procedure) which lists files and directories to be
included _inside_ the kernel binary image. This makes it possible to
provide files to the kernel before ordinary disk filesystems have been
mounted.

Ordinarily, that is the purpose of an initial ramdisk (initrd) -- an
archive file loaded by the boot manager (grub, lilo, etc.) during the
boot process allowing access to files (usually kernel modules) needed to
complete the boot process. Packing an initramfs archive directly into
the kernel binary makes it possible to avoid using an initrd -- for
example, if you only have a small number of files that must be available
during boot and you didn't want the initrd baggage. I use an initramfs
archive for exactly this purpose: I compile my own kernels and normally
would not need an initrd, but I need a small userspace binary (v86d)
that a 64-bit kernel can use as a helper to set video modes through a
32-bit BIOS. I just let the kernel know about the list of files I want
packed with the kernel (CONFIG_INITRAMFS_SOURCE) and make sure that
those files are actually present and, bingo, no need for an initrd!

You can read about this in the documentation provided with the kernel
sources. Take a look at this file:

path-to-kernel-source/Documentation/filesystems/ramfs-rootfs-initramfs.txt

Dave W.

fstab Entry Permissions for Remote Samba Shares?

2009-06-20 Thread Scarletdown
On one of my project systems here, I have set up a minimal Debian install
that guests can use if they need to do so. Now, on my network, I have an
NAS drive with a set of shared directories for various purposes (Multimedia,
Documents, share and so on). How can I set up my /etc/fstab so that the
only remote share the guest can see is share, yet when I am logged in on my
own account, I can access them all?

The group all of the shares are assigned to is nogroup. The guestuser
account is not a member of nogroup.

Here is a sample entry from my fstab. This is gives owner, group, and
others full access, which is how share will remain.

//CALYPSO/Documents /Calypso/Documents smbfs
auto,lfs,rw,users,umask=0677,file_mode=0677,dir_mode=0677,uid=scarletdown,gid=nogroup,password=
0 0

How do I change it so that guest user has no access at all? I've tried
everything imaginable, and it is still granting full access to everyone.

I prefer the functionality (when it functions!) of network-manager.

network-manager and a few other things no longer needed.  If I try to

me is that I CAN'T hold it because the version of gnome-system-tools
about to be installed is incompatible with the older version of
gnome-network-admin.)  I can hold gnome-system-tools as well and keep
network manager, which I guess is what I'll do for now.

I guess the question is why gnome-network-admin conflicts with
network-manager-gnome in the first place, as it hasn't before. But
that's life on a testing system.

 Hello!

A few days ago, I made an Update/Upgrade with Synaptic. All goes good
until when debconf doing configuring menu (or actualize the menu
triggers) it stays for ever. I Ctrl-C'ed to finish.

Now, I will run apt or aptitude and it shows an error:

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to
 correct the problem.

I run it as shows here:

 [jav...@segundo] dpkg --configure -a
 Configurando menu (2.1.41) ...
 Procesando disparadores para menu ...
 accersicer
 adduser
snipped to make it short .
 libz-dev
 zlibz-dev
 [jav...@segundo]

I finish it three hours later with Ctrl-C. I see that is a problem
with menu package as I run update-menus I get the same hang.

Try to run

update-menus -v

to see which file causes the problem.
