empêcher modification fichier .gtk-book marks
Bonjour à tous ! Sur des postes à destination du public, j'ai un petit problème auquel je n'ai pas trouvé de solution : ces postes sont des postes de consultation web, basés sur webconverger, modifié pour permettre l'accès et l'enregistrement sur clef usb depuis iceweasel. J'ai créé un fichier .gtk-bookmarks dans le répertoire de mon utilisateur générique, cela fonctionne bien, et m'affiche les emplacements usb si ceux-ci sont associés à un périphérique usb (règles udev pour automontage dans /mnt/usbX X allant de 1 à 9). Le problème se situe au niveau des permissions sur .gtk-bookmarks : en effet, les utilisateurs peuvent ajouter et supprimer des lignes depuis la boîte de dialogue gtkfilechooser, rendant ainsi l'accès aux clefs USB plus compliqué (plus de raccourcis). J'ai essayé plein de combinaisons de permissions, en retirant les droits d'écriture sur ce fichier, mais sans succès. la seule technique que j'ai essayée et qui fonctionne presque c'est de faire appartenir le répertoire parent de .gtk-bookmarks (donc /home/monutilsateurgenerique/) à root. Par contre, la session X ne démarre plus puisqu'elle ne peut plus écrire dans le répertoire (fichier .Xauthority qui pose problème). J'ai également essayé de mettre des acl, mais celles-ci sautent à chaque fois qu'un utilisateur modifie les raccourcis dans le dialogue d'enregistrement. Je ne sais pas si mon exposé du problème est très clair, mais si vous aviez des pistes à explorer ça m'avancerait bien ! Bonjour, J'ai un petit problème qui m'agace. Mon ordinateur est un HP 6830S Debian Sid et noyau 2.6.30, lorsque je boote mon ordinateur, le son est des fois activé ou il ne l'est pas dans ce cas un (Fn F9) corrige le pb. Connaissez vous une méthode pour régler automatiquement ce problème?. A l'avance Merci. Philippe Bonsoir, j'ai un 6730s avec les mêmes symptômes, j'ai essayé plusieurs astuces par le biais des fichiers /etc/modprobe.d/ alsa-base.conf et sound.conf, /etc/hal/fdi/policy/ (pour essayer d'utiliser un fichier .fdi correspondant au clavier hp, dpkg -L hal-info | grep hp si ça te tente...) sans résultat. Ce qui a réglé le problème c'est un noyau 2.6.31.* (compilé maison chez moi). La touche mute fonctionne, mais je n'ai aucun retour visuel (dans kde4) et l'icône du mixeur (kmix) n'est pas mise à jour (le symbole muet n'apparaît pas). Au démarrage j'ai bien le son qui fonctionne systématiquement, sauf si je mute via l'applet kmix avant d'éteindre la machine (dans ce cas l'icône est mise à jour correctement). Kernel 2.6.30 + Lvm2 + Crypsetup + Grub2 : erreur lors du boot

Je suis actuellement au pied du mur pour un problème tout con mais sur
lequel je ne trouve que des explications brèves peu claires. Mon
problème :
J'ai installé une lenny sur mon pc en netinstall avec LVM + Cryptsetup
ce qui n'a bien sûr pas été un problème vu la qualité de l'installeur.
J'avais donc un pc sous lenny avec le noyau 2.6.26-2-amd64.
Deuxième étape, j'ai fait un upgrade dans un mix sid/sqeeze (géré avec
les préférences et je suis sûr de mon sources.list) donc maj de lvm,
grub, cryptsetup et du noyau.
C'est la que vient mon problème. Le noyau 2.6.30-2-amd64 ne veut pas
booter normalement alors que le 2.6.26 est ok. J'ai fais ca car mon
cd de netinstall testing n'a pas voulu me trouver le réseau.
Le seul message d'erreur que j'ai est assez laconique et vient de cryptsetup
cryptsetup: lvm device name (/dev/hde2) does not begin with /dev/mapper
Un message similaire à été posté sur la ML anglaise il y a peu de
temps et comme lui j'ai un message d'erreur lvm au début mais je crois
qu'il n'a pas d'importance :

Tak więc nie bardzo wiem jak przechowywać dane w długim okresie czasu. Witam, to tak dużo tych danych z laptopa? Po pierwsze RAID 1 ma niską wydajność. Przy takiej ilości danych (zakładam setki GB) i kopiowaniu ich przez sieć (zakładam switch 100 Mbit) to zajmie.. godziny. Osobiście do backupów miałem skonfigurowany serwer tak, że 2 dyski po 320 GB każdy były połączone częściowo w RAID1 (na ważne pliki) a częściowo w RAID0 (na duże, mniej ważne dane). Do serwera łączyłem się bezpośrednio kablem krosowanym po Gigabicie. Napisałem sobie skrypt, który backupował mi tylko to co chciałem mieć na backupie. Transfery - max prędkość odczytu laptopowego dysku, czyli około 50-60 MB/s. Zaś faktycznie serwer umożliwiał: RAID1 ~100 MB/s zapis i odczyt, RAID0 ~200 MB/s r/rw (ograniczał rzecz jasna interfejs sieciowy Gigabit). Aktualnie pracuję nad połączeniem ze sobą dwóch serwerów Debian po Sambie przy użyciu wielu interfejsów i modułu Bonding oraz kabli krosowanych. Na razie stestowałem to raz na starszym sprzęcie i uzyskałem ~200 Mbit (w każdym z serwerów były po 2 karty 100 Mbit). Moduł bonding zapewnia też fail-over kart sieciowych. W takim przypadku laptop musiałby mieć jakąś dodatkową gigabitową kartę, ale myślę że i tak żaden przeciętny dysk nie wyrobi 2 x 120 MB/s. W każdym bądź razie w Pana przypadku raczej nastawiłbym się na coś takiego: http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/ System ten jest dostępny jako paczka w repozytoriach Debiana. Po pierwsze RAID 1 ma niską wydajność. Przy takiej ilości danych (zakładam setki GB) i kopiowaniu ich przez sieć (zakładam switch 100 Mbit) to zajmie.. godziny. Osobiście do backupów miałem - --ciach RAID 1 niska wydajność? bez przesady - tak naprawdę kwestia jak będą robione backupy. Ja polecam do takiego zastosowania (laptopowego) rdiff-backup, który jest pythonową nakładką na rsynca. Fulla wykonuje tylko raz, a potem tylko diffy. Ma kilka fajnych ficzerów, np. zapamiętuje które pliki były usunięte. Może zaczniemy od podstaw - głównym zadaniem RAID jest minimalizacja downtime'u oraz utraty danych _z powodu awarii jednego (przy wyższych poziomach może być więcej niż jednego) urządzenia_. To nie rozwiązuje problemu np. uszkodzeń logicznych na poziomie filesystemu, albo błędów użytkownika. Generalnie - im więcej niezależnych kopii danych, tym niższe prawdopodobieństwo uszkodzenia ich wszystkich równocześnie. Dlatego można np. rozważyć zrobienie trzech osobnych dysków i robienie backupów round-robinem kolejno na nich. Con okular se selecciona la herramienta de selección (o con el botón derecho), se hace un recuadro sobre el texto y se selecciona copiar texto. No recuerdo cuál era el visor de pdf del kde viejo, pero estoy seguro de que también puede copiar texto. Salute Sylvia Buenas Yo tengo KDE 3.5 y con el kpdf me permite seleccionar solo texto. La herramienta de marcado es un cuadro que permite escoger si lo copia como texto o imagen, inclusive tiene una opción de texto hablado. Es extraño que no les permita seleccionar el texto unicamente, puede que sea por el tipo de PDF. Bueno en fin que bueno que el compañero Liuber pudo solucionar el problema. Thanks you, but this is not the answer to my question. I did a compleet new install and marked don't keep data in the options of the diskpartitioner. I did give the hostname debian and the domainname thuis.local ( I did a new installation because, some programs copy the domainname and hostname into there configurationfile at installation. If you want to change them, you have also to change them in the configfiles and i don't know which programs that do and which not. So to be on the save side i did a new installation!!!) So why is in syslog the name debian.local I have read the manpage hostname I did: #hostname debian #dnsdomainname thuis.local #hostname --fqdn debian.thuis.local This looks ok. Playing audio over LAN -- software needed
Hello everybody, I'm looking for a solution to the following. I want to play my audio from any device that can communicate over LAN (eth/wifi) using LAN and a central server. In other words, I have a Debian-based server, connected to amplifier and speakers and I want to use that server to play my audio. So I'd need a server software that would listen to data and output it to speakers and I'd also need a client software that would act as a virtual sound card. The client software should be able to discover servers that exist in LAN and present user with a choice to either use local sound adapter (and thus local speakers) or to use a LAN sound adapter (and thus direct the sound to a nice home sound system). Client software should exist for Windows XP. The perfect solution should also be able to discover more than one listening server and switch between them. All the solutions I've googled seem to do something opposite: allow to access media files through LAN/Internet in order to play them locally. I want to play files locally, but output the sound through LAN. Note, that this should also work on WiFi, so it has to use ethernet (and maybe even better -- IP). Does something like this even exist? I saw an email today suggesting to use the FQDN in /etc/hostname so you could try that (although I personally have only ever used the regular hostname there). After emailing you, the .local suffix rang a bell and looking at your emails now confirms it. .local is an avahi-specific suffix and your log message comes from avahi-daemon. problem with kernel 2.6.26-smp
Hello there, I am using the kernel in my subject. It seems as though this kernel likes to lock up quite a bit when the CPu fan is at a higher rate of speed due to other tasks being done in the background. I am using Lenny and I never can remember before Debian being this unstable. Is there a kernel in Lenny or a newer kernel I could try to see if things become more stable? Intermittent high load average after upgrade to lenny / 2.6.26-2 ?
Hi Chaps, I've upgraded a server running our database connection pool software from etch on 2.6.18 to lenny on 2.6.26 and I'm now seeing intermittant high load averages. I don't see anything CPU or IO bound on the machine using top and vmstat, and I'm absoloutely baffled by it. Help needed in changing grub settings..
Hi, I had to remove FC7 in favor of windows since I had space crunch .. and moved it over to another machine.. But now I have loads of data on windows that I cannot lose...After FC was removed to get into windows I had to use, rootnoverify (.. ,...) cmd.. This is not possible all the times as There are many people using this machine.who do not know these things.. and I wont be around always... Can i do it via some Linux distro Live cd and just boot into grub and do something and perhaps re-install grub with the necessary changes made? I could be doing this over the phone so can you please be as descriptive as possible so that I dont end up with a bricked machine!! Where can I get the LaTeX CTAN package glossaries in Debian?
Hi, I am unable to find the glossaries package [1] in Debian stable, testing or unstable. The older glossary package is available, but it is no longer supported and recommends glossaries [2]. I've found a bug report on what appears to be this very issue in Ubuntu's bug tracker [3]. Does somebody here know whether this package is in Debian by now and how I can get it? Are you saying that you removed FC from the said machine and it has only Windows now? In that case, just do the fix mbr procedure from Windows and you will not have to deal with grub at all -- the machine will boot straight to Windows. What you are asking above (rootnovirify method, from grub), would only make sense if you still have grub installed and have multiple systems installed as well. If you have no Linux OSes installed, you do not really need grub and fixing the MBR would be the most convenient way. -- Please reply to this list only. I seem to have lost sound in kde4 after a recent update. Phonon is installed, but I can't select the multimedia configuration icon in System Settings. Alsa looks like the card is detected as HDA Intel, and the volumes are all where they are supposed to be. I did a little more research, and it turns out that I only had phonon-backend-null installed. I'm not sure why, but that certainly wasn't helping. If I understand correctly, by removing FC7 you also removed the boot loader, which now prevents Windows from loading. I've fixed this before by inserting the Windows CD, entering Recovery Mode, and using fixmbr followed by fixboot C: commands. This reinstalls the Windows MBR and you can boot to Windows to copy or backup your data. Can i do it via some Linux distro Live cd and just boot into grub and do something and perhaps re-install grub with the necessary changes made? This is confusing, but FWIW I've done something similar before by booting via Ubuntu Live CD, mounting the Windows C: drive (whatever partition sudo fdisk -l tells you it is) to the /mnt directory, then copying the files to another media. Include a ftp client in initrd
Hi, I am using Debian Lenny with the default 2.6.26-2-686 kernel and the default initrd image. My aim is to just boot the kernel and initrd image. I don't want to mount the real filesystem from the hard drive or any other storage device. I know how to mount an initrd and make changes in it and then zip and compress back again. However I need your help with the following question: I want to include a ftp client program in the initrd image and write a shell script in the initrd image that will execute the ftp program. What is the best way to do this?
LDAP discrepancy
Hi everyone I've been working with Carla Schroder's Linux Network Cookbook, trying to clean up my 4 computer internal network. I ran smbd -b | grep -i ldap (without quotes) . One of the outputs was: HAVE_LDAP_ADD_RESULT_ENTRY Schroder says this should be: HAVE_LDAP_DOMAIN2HOSTLIST Everything else is the same. Schroder seems to be using Samba version 3.023 while I'm using 3.2.5. Is this a significant difference? Was there a software change? I'm tire of dealing with a quirky network and want to get this one right. I have 2 win2k systems - one a printer server - , 1 Linux Lenny system and one XP system. I was wanting some of the full CD images. Maybe debian have given up on serving the full ISOs? There's nothing published to suggest so, but all pointers to the images are dead ends.
