Christophe

Insultarte no creo.

http://www.bloginformatico.com/disk2vhd-clonar-disco-duro-y-utilizarlo-en-una-maquina-virtual.php

http://megasi.org/computarizada/?p=106

ella. Y no estoy usando ntfs-3g.

Ahahahahahah momentito.

=
# /etc/network/interfaces

# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
=

O sea: NO instales Firefox, Thunderbird o Sunbird/Lightning.

# apt-get install iceweasel iceweasel-l10n-es-es icedove

Has podido instalar paquetes por apt-get antes sin problemas?

# apt-get install libc6 --reinstall

# apt-get install iceweasel
# apt-get install icedove
# apt-get install iceowl

=

Den nya orginal hemsidan på
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/index.en.html Pekar
man muspekaren över länkarna.

Men

PHP comente as linhas a seguir dentro de
/etc/apache2/mods-available/php5.conf

IfModule mod_userdir.c
Directory /home/*/public_html
php_admin_value engine Off
/Directory
/IfModule

I doubt ntpd is crashing. Most likely something else is jumping the
system clock and ntpd is behaving as designed and exiting when it sees
a one hour error. Shut down ntpd, set the clock correctly, and wait.
I suspect that eventually you'll see the clock jump even without ntpd
  running.

  Yes that is.
I have no cron jobs at all, I only have xen and heartbeat + pacemaker
on my two nodes and no processes that set the system clock. The clock
jumps ahead of one or two hours and I don't know why. Perhaps some
  kernel bug?

ntpd should avoid the clock going that forward and keep it disciplined.

It seems not ntp problem but a kernel bug:

  http://my.opera.com/marcomarongiu/blog/2010/08/18/debugging-ntp-again-part-4-and-last

You can try the mentioned work-around and see if that works for you.

Anyway, if that's the case, you should experience the same with different
ntp daemons and not just with ntpd :-?

I've experienced the same problem also with openntp.

 That makes more sense.

Anyway, no NTP daemon should crash because of skewed time; one thing is
that it refushes to sync (which can be fine, and should log this fact
so the admin can make the proper measures) but a different thing is
 completely killing the service.

Now I'm back with ntp using the workaround mentioned, hope it works.

Perfect, tell us how it went.

PROBLEM!!
System clock is gone one hour ahead, ntp stops to run with no messages
logs and I now I'm in trouble because I don't know what to do.

Any ideas on why ALSA is suddenly outputting my sound so very
quietly despite my volume levels being all the way up?

There are two possibilities I can think of. One is that you're using
pulseaudio and not checking its volume level (to confirm this, start
alsamixer and press F6 to select a different 'card').

Alternatively, the windows driver might know about some control on your
sound card that ALSA doesn't. Check the ALSA webpage for information
about your sound card (you didn't say what it was) and see if anyone's
reported bugs.

Library Problem

2012-09-26 Thread Stephen P. Molnar
Although I have used linux since before the RedHat Mother's Day release
I am not an OS type person.

I have just installed the 64 bit Debian 6.05 and am encountering
problems which I am reasonably sure are due to library problems.

The error message that I get for a number of applications, most recently
Opera, is:

Gtk-Message: Failed to load module canberra-gtk-module:
/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/modules/libcanberra-gtk-module.so: wrong ELF class:
ELFCLASS64

I presume that the error message means that there is a missing 32 bit
library on my 64 bit system. Now the problem is that I don't know how
to add a 32 bit library to 64 bit system using apt-get. My
/etc/apt/sources.list is:

#

deb-src http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main contrib non-free

# squeeze-updates, previously known as 'volatile'
# A network mirror was not selected during install. The following entries
# are provided as examples, but you should amend them as appropriate

deb http://cran.case.edu/bin/linux/debian squeeze-cran/

what do I add to access 32 bit files:

Thanks in advance.

System clock is gone one hour ahead, ntp stops to run with no messages
logs and I now I'm in trouble because I don't know what to do.

Try the program below and see what it says. If it actually tells you
that the time is out of sync, you can write a script around it that
checks the exit code, restores system time from hardware time (if the
hardware time isn't off, too) or with ntpdate, restarts your NTP daemon
if needed and the program. It won't keep your time from jumping and
only would make it jump back right away. It's ugly, yet better than
nothing.

If it doesn't tell you that the time is out of sync when it is, I would
wonder why the kernel doesn't know about it ...

My system time doesn't jump and I don't want it to, so I can only say
that the program runs and that the return value of adjtimex() indicates
that the time is ok.

You could also try to use ntpdate with the -q or -d option to get time
from an external reference, verify that with the system time and do
something when the system time is suddenly off.

What's in the configuration of your NTP daemon? Perhaps there's
something wrong with that.

Anyway it would run but I could not get the sound right. I think I
installed it from the Skype website.

I purged Skype and tried to install the Debian Wiki way

and receive this error message when I run it:

Some distro's like my rear output and some only work in my front output
for the mic.

Can't find anything on Google particularly related to Skype with this
error message.

Cheers

different). The rendering seems very similar when magnified. Try using

At that point, your system is shut down and the only thing it doesn't do

I think that only CPU change cannot made such problem. I tried BIOS

You could start by looking at what's in syslog and dmesg and by checking
the loaded modules. You could boot from a live/installer DVD/CD and see
if the computer turns off when you shut it down to get an indication if
there is a software or a hardware problem. I don't know if the DVDs/CDs
actually turn the computer off, though, something to find out first.

Thank you. I'll take a look on it.

Did you make any software updates to the system? I have a pretty old
computer that is using wheezy and as I updated debian within the past
weeks it went back and forth between turning off properly and stalling
with system halted on the screen. I don't remember which one it's
 been doing most recently.

No I did not upgrade my system that time. Since then I do several
times but with the same result. The problem probably somewhere else
because if I am in the BIOS and press power button the system (CPU)
stops/freeze but the screen remains on and have to switch off with
power button on PSU. Later the system does not always detect the HDDs
at system start which is scaring. So I bought a new ASUS G41 board and
a new PSU. Hope that works. Actually I do not have time for build the
new system so there will be no new info till Friday. Might I first
will try to change only the CPU back to E5200 and see the errors gone
or still there. If gone the problem is clearly CPU related.

Look closer: there's a space you are overlooking.
  ls -ls RET
might work, and
  ls -ls *RET
will definitely work (in case that character is not a space).

That's the main reason I always use a fixed-pitch font for CLI stuff and

Is it weird? or this file stored in some weird place.

If what you're posting is an exact capture, it looks like RET has some
sort of character before the R -- possibly a space? Try

ls RET

and see what happens.

There is another thing, which is isolated from this one,

FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on
 /dev/sda1 95G 54G 37G 60% /
 /dev/sda3 1.2T 681G 482G 59% /data

   4.6T 1.9T 2.8T 40% /home
 /dev/gpfs15.5T 919G 4.6T 17% /gpfs_data

/dev/gpfs1 is twice faster than /home/lina checked via dd in read and
write speed, but `ls` so slow.

I don't know how to check, indeed I have thousands of files generated
there. so I could obviously feel the time retard.

I assume /ddv/gpfs1 is some sort of local device, while
aricot2-local:/vol/ds_vol is being accessed through NFS? If that's the
case, the latter is coming across a network which would make it
substantially slower (especially depending on what the network looks
like).

Plotting/Listing kernel module load order

2012-09-26 Thread Amit
Hello,

Is there a way to plot/list the time each kernel module was
loaded/registered with the kernel?

I've tried bootchart2 but this doesn't give the list of kernel modules.

I've looked at the output of dmesg but I can't tell which modules are
loaded by udev and which ones are loaded by my calls to modprobe (I have
a service that runs at startup that calls modprobe to load certain
modules).

Thanks,
Amit

md5sum How-To for Debian iso download

2012-09-26 Thread Wally Lepore
Hi Members,

Been at this for quite some time. I'm new to the application called
md5sum.exe thus please be patient. I researched the how-to and
attempted to verify the debian netinst file called,
debian-6.0.5-i386-inetinst.iso that I downloaded yesterday.

I'm using windows 2000 and windows 7 to learn the process of verifying
that the file I downloaded is in fact error free. I went into the
command prompt (cmd) in windows and attempted to execute the
md5sum.exe file to check the iso file I downloaded.

I downloaded the debian iso file to my desktop and installed the
md5Sum.exe as per recommended (in system32) folder. I'm not sure I'm
typing the correct path.

I utilized the following tutorials but they did not work for me. I
believe the error is in my coding inside the command prompt.

http://154.ca/otr/iso/md5sum.shtml
http://www.etree.org/md5com.html
http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/answers/LQ_ISO/Checking_the_md5sum_in_Windows

Can anyone please point to a tutorial to accomplish this procedure?

Thank you very much
Wally

If you tried google, instead of D-U, you would have had the answer in no

Shane's Link explains some ways for Windows.

Don't you have a burning software that will show the MD5sum of the ISO?
If so, simply compare the sum with sum from the http links without
software.

OpenCL for AMD/ATI cards

2012-09-26 Thread Paul Zimmerman
According to the Debianwiki (http://wiki.debian.org/ATIStream) the library to
get OpenCL functions with AMD/ATI video cards is called amd-libopencl1 and you
can just install it with apt. But, it doesn't appear in the repository lists,
not even backports. And yet a search for it DOES show that it exists.
(http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=amd-libopencl1 leads to
http://packages.debian.org/squeeze-backports/amd-libopencl1) So why doesn't it
appear in the lists? How do we obtain and install it?

You were talking about copies. Anyway, I didn't sign any license for

the software which I didn't even want to have, and anyone can buy it.
If the law says that I can't sell it without the permission of whoever

require the issuer to buy the license back from me or allow me to sell
 it.

I don't know about what the law should say, but what it (US law) does
say is pretty clear.

Imagine you bought a car that has software in it and the car is built in
such a way that it doesn't function without the software --- which
unfortunately is the case for pretty much every car built somewhat
recently. You probably have a license to use that software. You can't
ever legally sell the car unless you remove the software first.

Now go to a junkyard and ask them for an ECM of some particular car.
I'm sure they'll sell it to you if they have it, with all the software
 included.

I think we've pretty much exhausted this topic, so I'm going to just
let it drop.

Don't you have a burning software that will show the MD5sum of the ISO?
If so, simply compare the sum with sum from the http links without
software.

 Hi Ralf,

Yes I do have software on windows called winmd5sum that does all
this automatically using a different process. The Cd Burner method you
mention is also another way. I will look into that. Also I discovered
there are many different ways to verify that a downloaded file is
error free. Using the program md5sum.exe is just one of many different
methods using the command line. I simply wanted to learn this
 particular method, that's all.

I've found some interesting links in regards to this subject. I will
get back to the mailing list with my results. See the link below
 please.

 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Md5sum

 Thanks again Ralf
 Wally

It's possible that you damaged your board in the process.

Thanks for your answer. I did it several times and otherwise works
perfectly so I do not think so.

Sometimes the display and motherboard LEDs become blank but PSU cooler
 runs.

It's a feature of some PSUs to leave the fan running until they have
cooled down some after turning off the computer.

Never ever did before. I think this is not the case here.

Sometimes Debian stops at System halted line and no blank screen and
 machine keeps running.

At that point, your system is shut down and the only thing it doesn't do
is turning itself off. That can be a software issue --- I never figured
out what kernel modules are needed for that.

I think that only CPU change cannot made such problem. I tried BIOS
default setup loading but no change. Any idea what to change? I have
 no idea.

Sorry for being late for the game. In nearly all cases this behavior is
a result of a new processor and an old BIOS whose code was not written
for the new processor. Simply flashing the system with the latest BIOS
usually fixes such issues. I don't see that mentioned above. Before
installing the new Asus board, I suggest putting the E5200 back in.
Confirm everything works as it did before relating to power switch,
device detection, etc. If it works, flash with the latest BIOS. Reboot
and verify new BIOS is working. If so, power down and install the
E8400. The problems should be gone.

I might be able to give you definitive information but you didn't state
your current mobo make/model. This problem is likely documented in the
errata, along with the solution, which is likely upgrade to BIOS
version x.xx.xxx or later.

Well, that was stupid-easy. Thanks!

why doesn't it appear in the lists? How do we obtain and install it?

Check that you have nonfree in your sources.list
