Missing openvpn on gnome network manager

2012-02-09 Thread Louie Miranda
Hi Guys,

I was able to install the ff packages:

network-manager-openvpn is already the newest version.
network-manager-pptp is already the newest version.
network-manager-vpnc is already the newest version.

Unfortunately, when I click the network connections -> vpn -> choose a vpn
connection type

It's missing the openvpn, it only shows the Point-toPoint Tunneling
Protocol (PPTP).

What could be missing?

Thanks

fstab, could not mount cifs drive because network is not yet up?

2009-10-20 Thread Louie Miranda
Dear all,

I have an entry on /etc/fstab

//192.168.1.3/Shareddir   /web/www  cifs
auto,user,credentials=/etc/samba/net.pass 0 0

Which connects to 192.168.1.3 (shared windows folder).

Unfortunately, when my Debian Lenny boot's up it could not connect directly
to the drive because /etc/init.d/networking has not run yet.

Is there a workaround here? Please help!

For me, even if I am a Debian user and admin. I still choosed Cent OS?

Why: Not sure if cPanel would be ok with Debian.

But, if Debian will surely release a note or cPanel? an article about it, I
will definitely switch my server anytime! :)

2007-11-14 Thread Louie Miranda
Sorry about this newbie stuff question.
But, last full Debian way of configuration i was in was in the lilo days and
Grub was still new.

It has been a while since..

OK, here goes..

I have edited /boot/grub/menu.lst

and tried to remove this line..

## ## End Default Options ##

> root(hd0,1)
> kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18-4-686 root=/dev/hda2 ro

And after typing update-grub, that whole line goes back to being
UN-commented. How can i edit that permanently? I have tried adding this..

updatedefaultentry=false

before

## ## End Default Options ##

But, it is still the same.

Please help!

#!/bin/bash
GEN=`pwgen --no-capitalize -N1`
for i in $GEN
do
echo "update dump set random= '$i'"|mysql -uroot insert

I have created this shell script, it updates a specific table on a
mysql db. Now, the pwgen is a random password generator. When i run
this program, it only gets 1 variables on all of my fields on the
mysql.

How can i make $GEN to re-calculate everytime it loops? so it can get
a new random password?

mixing stable and testing debian packages.

2003-09-26 Thread Louie Miranda
Is it possible to mix stable and testing deb packages?.
I mean, ex: I have libc6 2.2.5-11.5 and i want to make it libc6 2.3.1-1

This happend to me when i downloaded mod_security.c
http://packages.debian.org/testing/web/libapache-mod-security.html

And installed it using dpkg -i libapache-mod-security_1.4.2-1_i386.deb

## snip ##
webdev:~/deb# dpkg -i libapache-mod-security_1.4.2-1_i386.deb
Selecting previously deselected package libapache-mod-security.
(Reading database ... 26431 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking libapache-mod-security (from
libapache-mod-security_1.4.2-1_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of libapache-mod-security:
 libapache-mod-security depends on libc6 (>= 2.3.1-1); however:
Version of libc6 on system is 2.2.5-11.5.
 libapache-mod-security depends on libdb4.1; however:
  Package libdb4.1 is not installed.
 libapache-mod-security depends on libexpat1 (>= 1.95.6); however:
Version of libexpat1 on system is 1.95.2-6.
dpkg: error processing libapache-mod-security (--install):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
 libapache-mod-security

Now, im confused. Btw, if im going to put the testing distribution on
/etc/apt/sources.list
will my apt-* tools fixed this problem? And whats the correct configuration
to get testing deb packages.

I mean like this:

deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free

Whats the url and will i change stable to testing?.

I use 'dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86' to configure my Matrox card.
Also the V & H are ranges, i.e. v=30-97, h=50-160, unless you are using
a LCD.

In Woody there is a tool for configuring the Matrox dual head card:

Re: Start at boot time with /etc/init.d/functions

2003-07-15 Thread Louie Miranda
Where did you get the /etc/init.d/functions?
As far as i can remember it doesnt link to tomcat.

You can try adding the tomcat startup commands via..

/etc/rc.boot just make a 775 *perm* file so it will run on your next boot.
I also remember that you need to identify your JAVA_HOME and export it, etc.

[sources.list]

You could add the following line to your sources.list:
deb ftp://non-us.debian.org/debian-non-US woody/non-US main contrib
non-free (one line)

The server provides packages that are not on the normal servers because
they may not be exported from the US. Most of them offer added crypto
functions (lynx-ssl, kdelibs3-crypto, kdebase-crypto...).

depends what you are looking for, but there are no internet sources for
updates and upgrades. Try running apt-setup to help you get some more
sources. Depending on what software you want to use you may need to get
additional non official sources. Http://apt-get.org is a pretty good

I'll consider converting the rpm package to deb, I think that wont give
headache on my part.

It very well could work with no problems. On the other hand, if the rpm
you're installing provides a library or some other dependency, dpkg
won't know about it, and will thus complain when you try to install a
package that depends on it.

Using alien to convert the rpm to deb is usually the recommended way to
install Redhat software on Debian. This still won't get you around all
possible dependency problems, but at least you won't have to worry about
managing two package databases.

Just out of curiosity...why would you want to use rpm when apt-get is so
fast and easy to use?

Do mysql_pconnect really never close its connection? or sometimes
it closes, but in general its sometimes do not close its connection

I already add another route to 192.168.129.x via 10.0.0.2, below are my
kernel route

- my kernel routing table GW --
panic:~# route -n

I did another ip block over 192.168.129.x, ip is 192.168.129.50 - just a
test of mine.
Now i can access 192.168.129.50 directly on my workstation, but left is i
can't access
still 192.168.129.x block, and yet except for .50.

Below are my iptables rules (w/ nat). Yes i guess its on filtering on my gw.
Anyhow, here are my iptables rules again.

- iptables rules --

Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)
num target prot opt source destination

- iptables nat rules --

Chain PREROUTING (policy ACCEPT)
num target prot opt source destination
1REDIRECT tcp -- 0.0.0.0/00.0.0.0/0 tcp dpt:80

===

Right now im inside 10.0.0.0/16 block, my ip is 10.0.0.11 and my default gw
is via 203.190.72.108.
My LAN is on a masq LinuxBOX. On my diagram i have added a network cable
that is on a different
subnet connect to a cisco router via 10.0.0.2 which is connected to another
network (diff story).
My kernel route diagram is below..

Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric RefUse
Iface
203.190.72.104 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.248 U 0 00 eth0

0.0.0.0 203.190.72.110 0.0.0.0 UG0 00 eth0

I can access ip block 192.168.129.x on my LINUX GW perfectly. But when im on
my workstations on
10.0.0.11 block i cannot even ping 192.168.129.x block. Which could be
possibly be wrong?

Consider the following network:

  inet

Got it,

route add -net 203.190.77.144 netmask 255.255.255.240 gw 203.190.77.158 dev

It is not anymore failing, but is it possible for ex.

I have 3NICS, eth0 (primary gateway) and eth1 (lan network) and eth2
(diffrent network and gateway..)

When i add the eth2 using this command

/sbin/ifconfig eth2 203.190.77.156 netmask 255.255.255.240 up

Connections going to 203.190.77 block all hangs, i dont know why.
Im trying to add the route gateway to 203.190.77.158 (gateway) for
203.190.77 block, but it does not work. Error says, Invalid eth*
But i can see eth2.

Any ideas?

Re: interface problem w/ different ip/subnets/link

2002-12-26 Thread louie miranda
Rob, its..
Sorry for my second post i just want it to make it much understandable.

panic:/# route -n
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric RefUse
Iface
201.100.72.104 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.248 U 0 00 eth0

0.0.0.0 201.100.72.110 0.0.0.0 UG0 00 eth0

i did, remove eth2.

- my old email -
this is my second post actually and did'nt find any answers.
it goes something like this.

i have 3 interfaces eth0, eth1 and eth2

eth0 - connects directly to the internet via 512 Kbp/s
eth1 - is my private network
eth2 - is my other connection thru the internet via 256 Kbp/s

eth0's ip is: 201.100.72.108
eth1's ip block is: 10.0.0.0/16
eth2's ip is: 201.100.77.156

Now the problem is when i add eth2's IP my whole connection
going to 201.100.77.0/24 is not passing thru, btw. All route going
outside is via eth0. My plan would be using those two, but thats
a different story.

hope someone could help.

2 internet link problem on Linux router

2002-12-13 Thread louie miranda
Hi things i have to clear first!

DEFAULT GATEWAY = 203.100.100.1
MACHINE's (primary) IP = 203.100.100.2 - NIC1
MACHINE's (secondary) IP = 203.100.100.3 - NIC2
MASQ BLOCK = 10.0.0.0/16 - NIC3

I have 3 NIC Cards, My only problem is i want to route all my MASQ BLOCK
that when they
access IP BLOCK 203.100.200.0/24 they will come out on NIC2 (Secondary IP of
my machine)
And all other packets to its default route.

Is this possible? Im currently mixed up also when i tried to add the `route`
on linux when i ping
that ip, the secondary IP will not work anymore but my default route to NIC1
will be still the same.

Its like this, I can access 203.100.100.3 (Im not yet adding my secondary
ip/route) When i add
my secondary ip/route 203.100.100.3 "ifconfig eth2 203.100.100.3 netmask
255.255.255.240 up"
I can no longer access 203.100.100.3 But all of my other connections are
working except for that.

my kernel routing table after adding.. (not real ip's)

panic:/# route -n
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric RefUse
Iface
203.100.100.* 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.248 U 0 00 eth0
203.100.100.* 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.240 U 0 00 eth2
10.0.0.00.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 0 00 eth1
0.0.0.0 203.100.100.1 0.0.0.0 UG0 00 eth0

Hope someone can help!
