Ok, you're right. Please, don't pay attention to jigdo output: it is
cleaned a little bit by me. :#)
On the server that directory doesn't exist (try
snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/20210328T103801Z ), but there is
"some magic" that brings you "somewhere" (latest build? the nearest?)
when you ask for a subdirectory that could (?) exist. And I like it!
:-)

It seems that, under specific circumstances, under Windows, wget
doesn't obey the "--force-directories" input switch (jigdo-lite
outputs "Bad file descriptor'').
wget distributed with jigdo 0.8.1 is version 1.21.1.
Changing wget with version 1.21.2 (from cygwin project) files download
succeeded.
BUT (tada!) when the download finishes, jigdo doesn't understand files
are there ("No such file or directory" it says) and throws away
everything.
There are some other steps I can't get.
It could be a jigdo+Windows related issue. Tomorrow I'll test from a
Linux machine

I guess the other questions in your e-mail are no more relevant, but,
please, tell me if I'm wrong.

Bye,
Danilo

The reason is because I need to test upgrade strategies on a 10.9 Debian
server. And I didn't want to perform a system copy.

I'll try 10.11 as first instance.

Thank you and best regards.

Hi,

jigdo can't complete debian-10.9.0-amd64-STICK16GB-1.iso: 63 files not found.

I use jigdo-lite 0.8.1.

Is there a clean way to solve this?

Hello Team,

Hope you are doing well.

I received a report of most and least impacted website with recent Google
updates.

What I can see from this report; unlike many other websites you have all
the scope to draw attention and meet your goals.

Here are few basic keynotes which is causing initial hurdles for search
engine:

- Technical Issues has always been a competing factor for search
engine indexing, needs your attention.

- Context based and theme based links are major drivers of visitor
performance, again you lack all.

- Social Media is not just a tool rather a medium for better
client service and branding, for a website like yours this necessity has
been broadly ignored.

- Best Keywords and competitive keywords are your competitive
agents, it’s necessary to choose the right one with proper analysis.

-

More than anything, I'd recommend that you take a step back and re-evaluate
the way that you're measuring your promotional campaigns to see if what
you're doing really aligns with the fundamental goals of your business.

I have already assessed it well and can send you a detailed analysis report
free of cost for better understanding on measureable growth indices.

Please reply me back to discuss all in detail on major prospects and onward
strategy.

Hi Eduardo, thanks for the answer.

When said "...with X11 Session Forward Support", i mean SSH Server, like
SSDDroid, that implements a software layer for a transparent X11 forward
emulation. This feature would be useful for execute my android applications
from my PC, like a remote connection with X11 Forward.

Gnome doesn't start on Debian etch for amd64

2005-09-05 Thread Danilo Horta
Hi folks

Sometimes the gnome works, sometimes not (the majority of times). And
when it works, i experienced a very unstable system. For example, the
gnome halts whenever i try to logout. And i just installed this distro
yesterday and I'm wondering why is so unstable considering that's a
testing version.

Some useful info:

When i try to play some mid file as a simple user on kmid, it shows
"Player :: There are no midi ports !". I can play anything else but
midi. So i tried "ls -la mid" and it shows

"

Seens to be correctly, right? any help?

You are completely right, the means to do whatever you need are already
available; I just wanted to be able to use the kmix applet, which is a lot
quicker to use (point the mouse to the channel, roll the mouse wheel...)

Anyway, I guess this is not a great problem :)

Thank you, I did not read that.

Still not enough controls for my needs, however; for example, the wave
surround for the rear speakers in my soundblaster live. :/

I hope in kde 3.2...

Where did you read that KMix was supposed to support alsa natively?
(Sincerely, I am curious: I would be glad if it was :)

I fear it does not, so you should enable OSS emulation to use it. And
unfortunately it supports only a few of the available ALSA controls...

Are you using arts? I have to terminate it, to hear sounds with the flash

Kde Apps and UTF-8

2003-11-18 Thread Danilo Raineri
I tried to fix this one for the last weeks, but haven't got anywhere.

I have a display-related problem with utf-8; I am running Debian Sid, XFree
4.2, freetype2 and KDE 3.1.4 (LANG=it_IT.UTF-8), and every kde application
does not handle well a subset of utf-8 characters. While accented, greek or
even chinese characters are displayed correctly, I only get a white box
when trying with single and double quotations, among others.

Here is a short excerpt from http://www.eleves.ens.fr:8080/home/madore/misc
unitest/ :

The convention in English is âto use double quotation marks to indicate
quotation, and âsingle quotation marksâ for nested quotations.â

the above sentence is displayed correctly in gnome apps, but not in qt-based
ones, no matter what font I use (though I generally use Lucida Sans Serif
Unicode).

I searched thoroughly bugs.kde.org and google, but to no avail...

this e-mail in particular has not been tagged)

I tried with

whitelist_from[EMAIL PROTECTED]

in /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf, then in ~/.spamassassin/user_prefs, and
eventually with

all_spam_to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

in both of them, but with no effect.

I could filter in .procmailrc before actually feeding them to spamassassin,
but I just wanted to know if I am doing something wrong or if I didn't
understand how to use whitelists...

Same problem here, with 2.6.0-test4.

The serial ports do not seem to work, too (ttyS0 not present) and alsa works
only if compiled into the kernel, not as modules.

But I'm not sure this is the right place to ask: is it?

I expect at least the alsa problem to disappear with newer release of
alsaconf...

Re: cdrecord suddenly doesn't allow burning

2003-08-14 Thread Danilo Raineri
Joris Huizer wrote:

> /usr/bin/cdrecord: Permission denied

It seems that /usr/bin/cdrecord has been replaced by a script, which calls
the appropriate executable depending on the kernel version:

AinSoph:~# cat /usr/bin/cdrecord
#!/bin/sh
VERS=`/sbin/kernelversion`
case $VERS in
  2.0|2.2)
exec cdrecord.shm "$@"
  ;;
  2.4|*)
exec cdrecord.mmap "$@"
  ;;
esac

You can fiddle with the permissions of cdrecord.*

On my system, everything works if I chmod +r /usr/bin/cdrecord

Actually, I did it the Debian way with dpkg-statovveride.

I am in the cdrom group, and cdrecord belongs to the cdrom group, but if the
r flag isn't set (even only for the cdrom group) I can't seem to be able to
execute it.

I admit of not knowing exactly why, however... :)

Should I RTFM about scripts and permissions?

i2c and kernel modules

2003-06-25 Thread Danilo Raineri
Hello,

I am trying to get to work i2c and lm-sensors on my Debian testing/unstable.

I downloaded and installed i2c-source and lm-sensors-source; then extracted
them, and proceeded to build the modules like I did with ALSA and nvidia,
with a line like this:

sudo make-kpkg --append-to-version=-k7-fb --added-modules=i2c,lm-sensors
modules_image --config=menuconfig

(blessed be Kevin McKinley ;)

(append-to-version matches my running kernel, a 2.4.20 kernel with frame
buffer).

In the config, I chose to compile i2c as a module. I later found that the
kernel has built-in support for i2c, but I remember to have read in i2c
docs that, as long as everything is built as a module, this shouldn't be a
problem.

The compilation succeeds, and I find the two packages correctly built in
/usr/src.

I then install the packages, and run sensors-detect which should configure
everything for me; however, this fails because

modprobe: Can't locate module i2c-viapro
modprobe: Can't locate module i2c-riva
modprobe: Can't locate module i2c-dev

The modules are installed by the packages in

/lib/modules/2.4.20-k7-fb/lm-sensors

and in

/lib/modules/2.4.20-k7-fb/misc

(dpkg -L tells me this).

However, modconf has no idea of the existence of this modules (or better, I
can't seem to find them anywhere), and modprobe follows a similar route.

Am I missing something? :)
