Ogle / DVD playback
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 I've read the DVD playback documentation on the debian site and tried following it's instructions. When I tried to run ogle, I get the error message Root not set, then it crashes. I continued to search and found a reference that said that ogle is included with all current versions of debian (I'm running sarge; tonight I need to set it up on woody) I uninstalled everything that I did initially then ran apt-get install ogle-mmx ogle-gui When I try to run ogle, it seems to come up. When I press the Chapters button, it again gives the error message Root not set. Although it doesn't crash, nothing happens.
In der ogle-FAQ stand nichts, was mir da weiter geholfen hätte. Kennt jemand das Problem ? Braucht ihr zusätzliche Informationen ? Setting Up Ogle - No /dev/dvd
I used apt-get to install ogle and hoped the default oglerc would work without editing. The call to ogle aborted with a message that it could not find /dev/dvd. There is no entry for dvd in /dev and MAKEDEV doesn't know how to make one. The dvd-rom drive is the master on ide2 and a cd-rw drive is the slave on ide2 so ls /proc/ide shows hda hdb hdc hdd. I can play an audio cd in the dvd-rom drive and mount a data cd. My box is Woody with a 2.4.20 kernel. Does anyone have suggestions as to how to get this working? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'm beginning to wonder if the ioctl error is related to the fact that my DVD drive is USB. Il a fallu installer libarts.bin pour le serveur de son, ce que j'ai fait , mais maintenant si je lance ogle comme auparavant : il ne peut pas lire mon fichier /root/oglerc , mais ça je n'y avais pas touché, je me contentais de passer par open disc et le tout se lançait sans problème ... maintenant je vois juste la première image et l'écran devient noir, je ne peux plus visionner le DVD - même en pasant par open disc - J'ai cherché, mais je ne vois pas où est le problème le résultat quand je lance en console : MA:~# ogle Note[ogle_ctrl]: ogle 0.8.2 Debug[ogle_ctrl]: Started /usr/lib/ogle/ogle_gui with pid 2256 warning: failed to load external entity /root/.oglerc WARNING[ogle_gui]: Couldn't load config file WARNING[ogle_gui]: interpret_config(): Couldn't read '/root/.oglerc' Debug[ogle_ctrl]: Started /usr/lib/ogle/ogle_nav with pid 2257 warning: Debug[ogle_ctrl]: Started /usr/lib/ogle/ogle_mpeg_ps with pid 2258 failed to load external entity /root/.oglerc WARNING[ogle_nav]: Couldn't load config file WARNING[ogle_nav]: interpret_config(): Couldn't read '/root/.oglerc' Debug[ogle_ctrl]: Started /usr/lib/ogle/ogle_vout with pid 2259 libdvdcss debug: GetASF authenticated (ASF=1) libdvdcss debug: requesting AGID libdvdcss debug: drive authentic, using variant 0 libdvdcss debug: host authentication established libdvdcss debug: GetASF authenticated (ASF=1) libdvdcss debug: fully authenticated, success vm: play_PGC: first_play_pgc JumpTT 2 vm: play_PGC: state.pgcN (1) play_PG: state.pgN (1) play_Cell: state.cellN (1) Debug[ogle_nav]: sending subpicture palette Debug[ogle_nav]: sending aspect 16:9 Debug[ogle_nav]: sending audio demuxstream 7 Debug[ogle_nav]: sending subp demuxstream 31 libdvdcss debug: GetASF authenticated (ASF=1) libdvdcss debug: requesting AGID libdvdcss debug: drive authentic, using variant 0 libdvdcss debug: host authentication established libdvdcss debug: GetASF authenticated (ASF=1) libdvdcss debug: fully authenticated, success libdvdread: Attempting to retrieve all CSS keys libdvdread: This can take a _long_ time, please be patient libdvdread: Get key for /VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.VOB at 0x0135 libdvdcss debug: requesting AGID libdvdcss debug: drive authentic, using variant 0 libdvdcss debug: host authentication established libdvdcss debug: GetASF authenticated (ASF=1) libdvdcss debug: title key is 00 00 00 00 00 libdvdcss debug: got title key libdvdread: Elapsed time 0 libdvdread: Get key for /VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_0.VOB at 0x00010b38 libdvdcss debug: requesting AGID libdvdcss debug: drive authentic, using variant 0 libdvdcss debug: host authentication established libdvdcss debug: GetASF authenticated (ASF=1) libdvdcss debug: title key is c0 00 00 00 01 libdvdcss debug: got title key libdvdread: Elapsed time 0 libdvdread: Get key for /VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_1.VOB at 0x0001c1b3 libdvdcss debug: requesting AGID libdvdcss debug: drive authentic, using variant 0 libdvdcss debug: host authentication established libdvdcss debug: GetASF authenticated (ASF=1) libdvdcss debug: title key is c0 00 00 00 01 libdvdcss debug: got title key libdvdread: Elapsed time 1 libdvdread: Get key for /VIDEO_TS/VTS_02_1.VOB at 0x00376d22 libdvdcss debug: requesting AGID libdvdcss debug: drive authentic, using variant 0 libdvdcss debug: host authentication established libdvdcss debug: GetASF authenticated (ASF=1) libdvdcss debug: title key is c0 00 00 00 02 libdvdcss debug: got title key libdvdread: Elapsed time 0 libdvdread: Get key for /VIDEO_TS/VTS_03_1.VOB at 0x00376d7e libdvdcss debug: requesting AGID libdvdcss debug: drive authentic, using variant 0 libdvdcss debug: host authentication established libdvdcss debug: GetASF authenticated (ASF=1) libdvdcss debug: title key is c0 00 00 00 03 libdvdcss debug: got title key libdvdread: Elapsed time 0 libdvdread: Found 3 VTS's libdvdread: Elapsed time 1 Debug[ogle_ctrl]: _new stream bf, 0 vmg: shmid: 23953422 Debug[ogle_nav]: FlowCtrlCompleteVideoUnit = 1; Debug[ogle_ctrl]: _new stream e0, 0 Debug[ogle_ctrl]: Started /usr/lib/ogle/ogle_mpeg_vs with pid 2262 ## video_stream:req cap video_dec: shmid: 23986191 video_dec: data_buf shmid: 23920653 ## video_stream:got cap and stream vs: get ouput buffer Debug[ogle_ctrl]: got capability video_out horizontal_size: 720, vertical_size: 576 padded_width: 720, padded_height: 576 frame rate: 25 Debug[ogle_vout]: set_sync_point() warning: failed to load external entity /root/.oglerc Note[ogle_vout]: get_video_config(): Couldn't read '/root/.oglerc' Note[ogle_vout]: using default config for ':0.0' Note[ogle_vout]: Using 'X11' as source for geometry Debug[ogle_nav]: end of cell play_Cell_post: state.cellN (1) last cell in this PGC play_PGC_post: CallSS_VMGM_PGC 21 resume cell 1

Bonjour ! Bonjour !

Shade and sweet water! ogle and audio volume
I'm runnig ogle-mmx to play dvds in my woody (far better than xine, that has no menus). it works well but the volume is too low. it's far lower then when playing mp3 with XMMS or AVIs and MPGs with xine, so it should be an ogle problem. the mixer and speacker levels, even when at their max, don't help. is seem like there's some kind of saturation. I'm using gnome 1.4 with no esd (only oss). I tried with esd and got the same result. my .oglerc file says (audio section): audio device path/dev/dsp1/path /device speakers front2/front rear0/rear sub0/sub /speakers /audio is there anything wrong? did someone encounter the same problem? tnx for any hints, -- leonardo GPG Key fingerprint: D917 3C5F 6A72 7888 795B 89CF F1BF E9E6 4296 83DA -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. ogle doesn't work!
woody with kernel 2.4, gnome 1.4 updated every day (adsl). ogle -u cli /dev/dvd does not play any video or sound. ogle (gui): properties doesn't cause any effect (no dialogs). dselect-ed ogle-mmx and ogle-gui. made the symlink /dev/scd1 (I'm using ide-scsi emulation for both cdwriter and dvd) to /dev/dvd. launched the script in examples folder and installed libdvdcss lib. but still I can't get it to work. ogle starts, checks for dvd. gets the key. changes the window size but it doesn't start playing any dvd. I'm using xine too, and I can see dvds with it, but I would like to have ogle working. xine uses a different lib (libdvdcss2?) and dvdnav for playing. what should I do? thanks, leonardo -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. ogle vs xine vs mplayer
I just compiled ogle http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/groups/dvd/downloads.shtml on sid and it is BY FAR the best dvd player I have yet to get working on linux. It compiled without a hitch and perfectly handled the menus and english language subtitles on my Amores Perros DVD, AV synced perfectly, and played at around 25 fps full screen on my dell inspiron 8k. I have played dvds with xine 4-9.x and mplayer 5.x and so far ogle is the only Player that I have found compares favorably to windows players. ie: handles menus, handles subtitles, you don't have to point it at a chapter or title, just ./ogle -u cli and it starts playing whatever dvd is in your drive, does slow mo, freeze frame, chapter skip, full screen , etc... , av sync doesn't suck, plays at full speed, plays encrypted dvds. I highly recommend compiling it. If there is any interest I'll package it for sid and some of the libs needed to compile it (new libdvdread) etc. Tom On Thu, 25 Oct 2001, Alexander Poslavsky wrote: On Wed, 24 Oct 2001 23:33:43 +1000 Damon Muller [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: DM Quoth Joerg Johannes, DM I'm trying to get xine to work in fullscreen mode, but I can't get it.
