xspringies is a simulator which allows you to interactively create and edit
a system of masses and springs. The parameters of the masses and springs
(such as mass elasticity and spring K) as well as those of the surrounding
system (such as air viscosity and gravity) can be changed. These systems
can be loaded and saved into a file.
I guess you could use xspringies for real work, but it's really intended to
  be a time waster.

I've never been a proponent of hardcoding paths to programs. This will
immediately make the program non-portable to basically any non-GNU type
system, and doesn't provide any significant benefit (/bin is in PATH).

I'm not terribly keen on it myself, but I do think that it's safer
than trusting a potentially malicious $PATH setting.

I guess the alternative approach is to set this in the Makefile, that
would keep the portability a little bit more contained.

$PATH is almost always trusted; the exception is setuid programs which
should sanitize PATH. xspringies is not setuid, is it?

It is not setuid/setgid no, but I still think it's best to not trust
the PATH - sure it's not critical, but it's a good think just in
 case.

Bug#207849: Ked Password Manager

FYI: I'm writing a replacement for fpm - Ked Password Manager

It written in python, all other dependencies are already in Debian. In
fact kedpm is developed on Debian system, so there should be very little
effort needed to package it.

I think I have to disagree here; hardcoding paths does not, in general,
improve security. In any case where path is untrusted, the correct solution
is to set a sane PATH
(/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin) and continue
to execute commands as normal. This way you are not dependent on programs
being installed in a particular location, and if it is necessary for the
administrator to change the path, they can do this in one palce.

I just saw the mail you sent last month to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
concerning pgAdmin3 debian package.
I don't know if you got an answer from Vincent Renardias as he has a lot
to do. I know this is really late but...

The pgadmin team uses a patched version of wxWindows 2.5 that won't
integrate debian for the moment. As debian packages must be build
dynamically we can't upload pgAdmin3 packages until wxWindows 2.5
packages become available. Ron Lee who is responsible of the wxWindows
packages is aware of this and will provide packages as soon as he thinks
that it becomes stable enough.

I provide static packages for debian woody, sarge and sid on pgAdmin3 site.
You can find detailed instructions on how to get them at
http://www.pgadmin.org/pgadmin3 in the download section.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any problem concerning
pgAdmin3 debian packages.

Sorry if my answer duplicated one from Vincent, and sorry for the lag.

Regards,
Raphaël

I request an adopter for the libxml-handler-yawriter-perl package.
The package description is:
This module implements Yet Another XML::Handler::Writer. The reasons
for this one are needing a flexible escaping technique, and wanting
 some kind of pretty printing.

  No, seriously, some obvious mistakes:

 * There's no .diff.gz file. Just make sure the original tar.gz file

Note that this package was removed from testing and unstable recently
for the reasons in
http://lists.debian.org/debian-release-0308/msg00024.html. You should
probably retrieve that package from snapshot.debian.net and at least
include the old Debian changelog; perhaps something can be salvaged from
the packaging too.

Dear,
I do hope this letter will not come to you as a surprise; it was borne
outof my desire to share a business relation ship with you. My name is
David Lamptey, 42yrs,a Ghana national married with a wife and two
children. I work as an Assistant Administrative Manager with STANDARD
SECURITY AND SERVICES LTD. in Accra-Ghana. I got the information concerning
You from the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and after due consultation with
my spiritual adviser, I decided to contact you in believing that by the
grace of God, you will accept to be my partner in this business. I earn a
salary of 1.6M 200 USD equivalent monthly. I joined the services of
this company in 1991 as an office assistant. I decided to contact you
believing that by the grace of God you will accept to be my partner in
this business.
I have been working with this company for nine years. Within this
period
I have watched with meticulous precision how African Heads of States
and
government functionaries have been using STANDARD SECURITIES to move
huge sums of money USD, Pound sterling, French France (Cash) to their
foreign partners.

They bring in these consignments of money cash and secretly declare the
contents as jewelries, gold, diamond precious stones, family treasure,
documents etc. Mobutu Sese Seko of Zaire, Foday Sankoh of Siera Leone.
etc. All these people have hundreds of consignments deposited with
STANDARD SECURITIES. Their foreign partners, friends and relatives, are
claiming most of these consignments. A lot of them are lying here
unclaimed for as much as 15 yrs. No body may ever come for them because in
most cases, the documents of deposit are never available to any body
except the depositors most of them dead.
Since the inception of the 2000 millennium, STANDARD SECURITIES
MANAGEMENT changed the procedure of claims of consignments. As soon as you
are
able to produce all the secret information as contained in the secret
file of any consignment, it will be released to you upon demand.
From our record, more than 120 consignments belonging to Mobutu Sese
Seko /Foday Sankoh, have been claimed in the past six months. This is why
I am soliciting for your co-operation and assistance. Mobutu Sese Seko
has 85 consignments deposited with several names and codes. 35 have
been claimed in the past six months.
I have finished every arrangement for you to come and claim consignment
NO.988 containing USD 20M. My duty is to supply you with all the
information and documents by fax. You will deal directly with the
management.
The procedure is simple:You will apply officially to the Director of
Operations of STANDARD SECURITIES for the release of consignment No. 988.
They will demand for some documents and secret codes. which I will
supply you with every detailed information as soon as you confirm the
reception of this proposal.
In your reply, include your private telephone number so that I can call you
for further explanation and directives on the procedure. This is my

GPS is a complete integrated development environment that gives access
to a wide range of tools and integrates them smoothly.
 .
 GPS gives access to built-in file editing; HTML based help system;
 complete compile/build/run cycle; intelligent source navigation;
project management; general graph technology giving access to many
different browsers such as source dependency, project dependency, call
graphs, etc.; fully integrated visual debugger, based on the GVD
technology, and enhanced for inclusion in GPS; generic version control
system, providing access to CVS, ClearCase, and possibly others in the
future; many other tools such as a visual comparison, automatic
 generation of files, source reformatting.
 .
GPS is fully customizable, providing several levels of customizations:
a first level, available through the preferences dialog; a second
level, which allows you to customize your menu items, tool bar and key
bindings; a third level, which allows you to automate processing
through scripts; and a fourth level, which allows any kind of very
specific or tight integration, due to the open nature of GPS, and to
 its architecture.
 .
GPS also integrates with existing editors such as Emacs and Vi.

Bug#211120: ITP: gnat-gdb -- Ada-aware version of GDB

2003-09-15 Thread Ludovic Brenta

Here are my reasons for adding this package to Debian:

- GDB 6.0 is not even in unstable yet. Unless it has a fair chance of
making it into Sarge, I think gnat-gdb would be appropriate.

- I am not sure that GDB 6.0 will work with Public versions of GNAT
(3.14p, 3.15p). My proposed package does.

- ACT has not formally released an Ada-aware version of GDB 6.0. If
they have such a version, it is in their CVS and I would rather
  package a released version.

I have tested my proposed package personally and found it to work
without any problems. If anyone wants to test it, it is available
here:

deb http://users.skynet.be/ludovic.brenta testing main

(the source package does not fit in my personal web space; please
email me if you want a copy).

However, I am more than willing to forego gnat-gdb if GDB 6.0 does fit
the bill and does make it into Sarge.

Version: N/A; reported 2003-04-23
Severity: normal

I intend to hijack the em8300 package. Its current maintainer, Michael
Moerz has been MIA for quite some time, and I've already NMUed it 2
months ago. Anyway, Michael, if you don't want me to hijack it, please
feel free to complain loudly.

I probably won't upload a new version before two weeks, since:
   - I want to give Michael some time to complain
   - I want to fine-tune the new packages before I upload them
   - I will soon go for a one-week vacation with limited or no net
access, and I'd prefer not to break anything just before I leave...

Michael, if you ever read this, please don't take any offense from my
action. My only goal is to see this package properly maintained. If you
ever want to get it back, and have enough time to deal with it, I'll be
happy to hand it back to you.

Regards,

Nicolas
