| Sorry about that, my mistake
| A friend of mine told me there was a RFP request for tiny erp, so i
just send
| the mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] without checking any further...
|
|
|>Do you want to co-maintain tinyerp?
|
|
| Yes sure...
|
| i think i've done a good part of the job already , but this is one of
my first
| debian package and i'm sometimes lost in the debian policy mysteries ;)
|
| Here's what i've done :
|
http://debian.dalibo.org/dists/sarge/main/binary-all/tinyerp-client_2.0-6_all.deb
|
http://debian.dalibo.org/dists/sarge/main/binary-all/tinyerp-server_2.0-3_all.deb
|
| i'd be glad to know what you think of theses packages
It would be better to judge if I would have access to the source
packages (*.tar.gz, *.dsc and *.diff.gz).
| By the way here's the small problems i encountered during this
'debianization'
|
| * there's no init.d script for the server , i had to write it
Yes, I noticed this too.
| * the client needs to be launched from the /usr/lib/tinyerp/client
directory ,
| so i put a trivial script in /usr/bin to launch it easily
Yes, I had a similar solution in mind. We will have to write a manpage
for it too ;-)
| * i had to separate images from python files to avoid images in /usr/lib
Well, I'm not so sure to put them in /usr/lib, I thought of using
/usr/share...
| * i made xpm icons so that update-menus is fully fonctionnal
Good idea, but I want to see the source ;-)
| * the '#!/usr/bin/python' is omitted in many .py files
I think this is intentional: they are only used for importing them.
What did you do with pydot (seperate license)?
In any way I like to see the source package (you could maybe upload it
to mentors.debian.net?).
| I guess the easy way to co-maintain tiny-erp would be to split the
task in
| two. You maintain the server and i'll take the client , or vice-versa...
| Does it sounds reasonable to you ?
I thought more of actual co-maintainership [1] for both of the packages.
This is certainly preferable if you are not an official Debian Developer
(yet?) ... then you don't have to search for a sponsor :-)
Cheers
Luk

This page is not under Debian's control, we can't do anything about

Hi

I have made debs of the setpwc utility. The packaging uses dbs.

The source and binary packages are available from

I would vote against an inclusion of this package into Debian. Apart
from the sloppy C code it is written in it crashes often without any

very unreliable for the tasks which it should fulfil.
The idea is neat, and some could package it when it's more mature, but
upstream seems quite dead.

Neither the one told in mcatalog debian section.

With

yes i did that just to squash a few lintian warnings.
Furthermore it seems that lintian doesn't recognize '#!/usr/bin/python2.3' as
a correct header and throws the 'python-script-but-no-python-dep' error tag.

That's a good question :))
It seems to me that this License is compatible with the GPL , but i'm not an
expert...
More generally we could have a very modular approach for tinyerp-server and
build distinct packages for each add-on (account, base, crm, marketing,
etc...)
By the way i think we'll have to do so for the i18n files

Sounds good to me :)
I've already made several packages but never really tried to make them
official ... I'm using debian for a longtime and now i want to get more
involved in the community. So i'd be happy if you 're ok to be my sponsor :)

Well, yes it is my intention to be your sponsor then (at least for

isn't important IMO, maybe we could mention a mailinglist instead, we'll
see.

Bug#292572: ITP: praat -- program for speech analysis and synthesis

This is no more an issue with the package uploaded to unstable. Its
debian/README.Debian file reads:

praat for Debian

The upstream files were patched for removing the dependency on the non-free
file ipa/ipaSerifRegularPS.c, which was replaced by the drop-in file
ipa/xipaPS.c, written by me. This file includes the Type-1 Postscript font
for IPA characters derived from the TIPA package (see
ftp://ftp.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/fonts/tipa). TIPA is release under the
terms of the LPPL (LaTeX Project Public License) and the file ipa/xipaPS.c
is release under the terms of the GNU GPL. The Debian praat package is
completely compliant with the DFSG now.

You mean:
-rw-r--r-- rafael/rafael 78319 2003-12-12 13:31:28
praat-4.3/ipa/ipaSerifRegularPS.c
?

That file is in praat_4.3.orig.tar.gz sitting in NEW, it's true indeed
that in the .diff.gz you ship the alternative, but ipaSerifRegularPS.c
is still in the source tarball.

If that file is really non-free, you should probably repackage the
tarball (I note the tarball was repackaged anyway, as it has 'rafael' as
owner of all files) removing that file. If it's merely not allowed to
link it in GPL programs, you can of course leave it where it is, as you
do not link it in (I did not verify that, but take your word for it).

The license of the problematic file (praat-4.3/ipa/ipaSerifRegularPS.c)
does allow its use and distribution freely (only modification is
forbidden), so I do not see a strong reason for not having it in the
tarball. This file is not used at all to generated the praat binary (I
used xipaPS.c instead), so the binary package is fully DFSG-compliant.

Please tell me exactly what I should do to clear the situation up. I
really wish to have praat in unstable.

As stated, Kevin recently orphaned these non-free packages.

Additionally, popcon shows almost no use, a query on d-devel brought exactly
zero responses, a query on IRC brought a 'go for it' (not that this says
much).

Ok, I hope this does what I want the way you (QA) want it.

The delay was: because snapshots.d.n doesn't archive non-free, I sent the
question about removals additionally to all people who previously
maintained the packages or filed bugs against it (4 people or so). 2 of the
email addresses bounced, the others didn't react in the last 10 days.

Description : removes files and directories

File::Remove::remove removes files and directories. It acts like
/bin/rm, for the most part. Although unlink can be given a list of
files, it will not remove directories; this module remedies that. It
also accepts wildcards, * and ?, as arguments for filenames.

This package provides a module for accessing dBase databases from PHP scripts.

PHP4 is an HTML-embedded scripting language. Much of its syntax is borrowed
from C, Java and Perl with a couple of unique PHP-specific features thrown
in. The goal of the language is to allow web developers to write
dynamically generated pages quickly.

For the record, php4-dbase used to be in the archive, but was recently
removed.

Care should be taken to actually provide a higher version number than
what there used to be in the archive, and pest is to retain the old
changelog too so people know of the package's history.

The previous version was 4.3.4+rcfinal-3. Current package is version
4.3.10, and where appropriate based on the work done by the last
maintainer, Ondrej Sury. This includes preserving the changelog.

Bug#302261: O: gnome-think -- Hierarchical organizer and outliner

probably better just be removed from the archive.

just please make sure it's patched to generate pam configurations
the Debian Way(tm), as IIRC redhat-flavored pam uses different

Bug#302278: ITP: libuser-identity-perl -- manages different identities/roles used for email

2005-03-30 Thread Gunnar Wolf

* Package name: libuser-identity-perl
  Version : 0.90
  Upstream Author : Mark Overmeer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://perlovermeer.net/userid/
* License : GPL + artistic
Description : manages different identities/roles used for email

The "Mail::Identity" object contains the description of role played by
a human when sending e-mail. Most people have more than one role these
days: for instance, a private and a company role with different e-mail
addresses.

An "Mail::Identity" object combines an e-mail address, user description
("phrase"), a signature, pgp-key, and so on. All fields are optional,
and some fields are smart. One such set of data represents one role.
"Mail::Identity" is therefore the smart cousine of the Mail::Address
object.

This module is required by the new upstream version of libmail-box-perl,
already in the archive.
