Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: fpc-chm Upstream Author : Andrew Haines * URL : http://svn.freepascal.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/trunk/packages/chm/ * License : Same as FreePascal? Programming Lang: Pascal Description : CHM-compiler for Lazarus and FreePascal We have many packages of software that can read and/or view CHM-files, but we haven't got any package that can create CHM-files. xmlto can create only that directory structure for CHM-file, but it can not compress it to final CHM-file. I already suggested that a package called hhm should be Debian-packaged, but then I realized it is probably impossible, because it depends on libraries that can not be found on the Internet no more. This package made for Lazarus can do both directory structure and compression. Therefore it would be nice to have as Debian-package. I hope you will make this as stand-alone as possible, so users of this package will not need to install umpteen gazillion FreePascal- and Lazarus-packages that are only needed by developers. I've been working over the past couple of months with highly talented font designers to get a great collection of fonts released as open source. Almost all the fonts are under the Open Font License, and in our discussions I've been sensing a huge amount of momentum behind this license. Obviously, the main reason we're doing this is to have a richer set of fonts for the web. But since the fonts are all open source, they can be used for lots of other things. I'm confident this collection will shortly show up in Linux distribution. We've created a Google Code project to host the fonts in the Google Font Directory, many of which contain FontForge or FontLab source. I want to run that in open source style, and invite people working on packaging fonts for Linux and other open source projects to help curate the project." -- Juhapekka "naula" Tolvanen * http colon slash slash iki dot fi slash juhtolv "Quidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur." -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#495677: RFP: heirloom-toolchest -- Old Unix-utilities modified for todays requirements
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: heirloom-toolchest * URL : http://heirloom.sourceforge.net/ * License : BSD and other Programming Lang: C Description : Old Unix-utilities modified for todays requirements "The Heirloom Project provides traditional implementations of standard Unix utilities. In many cases, they have been derived from original Unix material released as Open Source by Caldera and Sun." Interfaces follow traditional practice; they remain generally compatible with System V, although extensions that have become common use over the course of time are sometimes provided. Most utilities are also included in a variant that aims at POSIX conformance. On the interior, technologies for the twenty-first century such as the UTF-8 character encoding or OpenType fonts are supported." As you can see from bugs #431231, #139861 and #388689, UTF-8-support of GNU coreutils suck snow out of Mt. Fuji and there is no fix in sight. Some Linux-distributors have created their own patches, but upstream maintainers do not accept them. In Heirloom Toolchest UTF-8-support is all fixed. As you can see from bug #196762, groff can not be upgraded to the latest version, because in Debian it has some Japanese support patch that is not yet available for the latest version of groff. I do not know about Unicode-support of groff, but at least in Heirloom Toolchest roff support UTF-8 and OpenType, too. Therefore, IMNSHO Heirloom Toolchest must be packaged for Debian ASAP. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (1100, 'testing'), (990, 'stable'), (500, 'testing-proposed-updates'), (500, 'proposed-updates'), (101, 'testing'), (99, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) -- Juhapekka "naula" Tolvanen * http colon slash slash iki dot fi slash juhtolv "Boku wa ongakuka dentaku katate ni. Bug#452067: RFP: anki -- Program designed to help you remember facts
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: anki Version : 0.3.6 * URL : http://repose.cx/anki/ * License : GPLv2 or later Description : Program designed to help you remember facts >From homepage of Anki: Anki is a program designed to help you remember facts (such as words and phrases in a foreign language) as easily, quickly and efficiently as possible. To do this, it tracks how well you remember each fact, and uses that information to optimally schedule review times. With a minimal amount of effort, you can greatly increase the amount of material you remember, making study more productive, and more fun. Anki is based on a theory called spaced repetition. In simple terms, it means that each time you review some material, you should wait longer than last time before reviewing it again. This maximizes the time spent studying difficult material and minimizes the time spent reviewing things you already know. The concept is simple, but the vast majority of memory trainers and flashcard programs out there either avoid the concept all together, or implement inflexible and suboptimal methods that were originally designed for pen and paper. While Anki can be used for studying anything, it also ships with special features designed to make studying Japanese and English easier: integrated dictionary lookups, missing kanji reports, and more. Sample decks are also provided for Russian. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (1100, 'testing'), (990, 'stable'), (500, 'testing-proposed-updates'), (500, 'proposed-updates'), (101, 'testing'), (99, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22-3-k7 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=fi_FI.utf8, LC_CTYPE=fi_FI.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- Juhapekka "naula" Tolvanen * http colon slash slash iki dot fi slash juhtolv "S teki. Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: eclipse-latex-plugin * URL : http://eclipse-latex.sourceforge.net/ * License : GPL Description : Plugin of Eclipse for editing LaTeX-code Quote from homepage: Clip here What is LaPsE? LaPsE is a LaTeX-Editor for the Eclipse IDE. Why integrating LaTeX into Eclipse? The LaTeX framework gets you from the source files, the .tex files you write, to the result - which might be a PDF- or DVI-document, a Webpage or any other supported document output format. This cycle is quite similar to developing software: there you also have source files and a system that produces binaries (or bytecode ;). Therefore it is possible to map virtually any feature you use to develop software on a LaTeX editor. To do this for Eclipse is the goal of the LaPsE editor.
