Bug#626455: xserver-xorg-core: X mouse won't move
Package: xserver-xorg-core Version: 2:1.10.1-2 Severity: important X mouse will not move. Just remains stuck in the middle of the screen. This begins in gdm and (if I login) continues in X session. Othervise X is just fine. No crashes or anything. Howewever, with squeeze on the same machine mouse works just fine, so it seems to be a software bug. -- Package-specific info: X server symlink status: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Mar 12 18:31 /etc/X11/X - /usr/bin/Xorg -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 2018824 May 1 13:21 /usr/bin/Xorg VGA-compatible devices on PCI bus: -- 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2e32] (rev 03) /etc/X11/xorg.conf does not exist. /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d does not exist. Bug#598803: X crashes now and then
I installed intel driver 2.13.0-1 from experimental and promptly X crashed again. Xorg.0.log tells this: - (EE) intel(0): Detected a hung GPU, disabling acceleration. (II) Open ACPI successful (/var/run/acpid.socket) (EE) intel(0): failed to set mode: Operation not permitted Fatal server error: EnterVT failed for screen 0 - Now, however, gdm appears and I can login again to X session, instead of having to reboot. No further crashes yet. Knock on wood... Juha Mäkinen juha.maki...@koti.soon.fi

Bug#570988: xserver.xorg.video.intel problems continue
I finally caught the bug with 2.6.32 X session using intel driver I kept switching between X session and console, several times, after a while I get blackout and X gets turned off. Consoles (ctl-alt-F1..6) remain good. Not a lockup anymore, but blackout after whici gdm (I think) turns X off telling me to reconfigure. Only, my X is from xorg -configure straight so I do not know what I should do. (saving for vesa which right now is commented out) I will try newest kernel as soon as I figure out how not to irretrievably mix testing/squeeze and experimental, or until newest kernel comes out of update/upgrade... I attach /boot/grub/grub.cfg, /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log with respect, hoping this will help Juha Mäkinen juha.maki...@koti.soon.fi # # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE # # It is automatically generated by /usr/sbin/grub-mkconfig using templates # from /etc/grub.d and settings from /etc/default/grub # ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/00_header ### if [ -s $prefix/grubenv ]; then load_env fi set default=0 if [ ${prev_saved_entry} ]; then set saved_entry=${prev_saved_entry} save_env saved_entry set prev_saved_entry= save_env prev_saved_entry set boot_once=true fi function savedefault { if [ -z ${boot_once} ]; then saved_entry=${chosen} save_env saved_entry fi } insmod ext2 set root=(hd0,8) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 2c453778-7096-4772-9613-ab9dd39fb339 if loadfont /usr/share/grub/unicode.pf2 ; then set gfxmode=640x480 insmod gfxterm insmod vbe if terminal_output gfxterm ; then true ; else # For backward compatibility with versions of terminal.mod that don't # understand terminal_output terminal gfxterm fi fi set locale_dir=/boot/grub/locale set lang=fi insmod gettext set timeout=5 ### END /etc/grub.d/00_header ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ### insmod ext2 set root=(hd0,8) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 2c453778-7096-4772-9613-ab9dd39fb339 insmod png if background_image /usr/share/images/desktop-base/moreblue-orbit-grub.png ; then set color_normal=black/black set color_highlight=magenta/black else set menu_color_normal=cyan/blue set menu_color_highlight=white/blue fi ### END /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/10_linux ### menuentry Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.32-trunk-686 { insmod ext2 set root=(hd0,8) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 2c453778-7096-4772-9613-ab9dd39fb339 echoLoading Linux 2.6.32-trunk-686 ... linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-trunk-686 root=UUID=2c453778-7096-4772-9613-ab9dd39fb339 ro quiet echoLoading initial ramdisk ... initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-trunk-686 } menuentry Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.32-trunk-686 (recovery mode) { insmod ext2 set root=(hd0,8) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 2c453778-7096-4772-9613-ab9dd39fb339 echoLoading Linux 2.6.32-trunk-686 ... linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-trunk-686 root=UUID=2c453778-7096-4772-9613-ab9dd39fb339 ro single echoLoading initial ramdisk ... initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-trunk-686 } menuentry Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.30-2-686 { insmod ext2 set root=(hd0,8) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 2c453778-7096-4772-9613-ab9dd39fb339 echoLoading Linux 2.6.30-2-686 ... linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.30-2-686 root=UUID=2c453778-7096-4772-9613-ab9dd39fb339 ro quiet echoLoading initial ramdisk ... initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.30-2-686 } menuentry Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.30-2-686 (recovery mode) { insmod ext2 set root=(hd0,8) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 2c453778-7096-4772-9613-ab9dd39fb339 echoLoading Linux 2.6.30-2-686 ... linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.30-2-686 root=UUID=2c453778-7096-4772-9613-ab9dd39fb339 ro single echoLoading initial ramdisk ... initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.30-2-686 } ### END /etc/grub.d/10_linux ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ### menuentry Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.26-2-686 (on /dev/hda6) { insmod ext2 set root=(hd0,6) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set a4b3a821-a7dd-4d3b-be23-60d2896234dc linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.26-2-686 root=UUID=a4b3a821-a7dd-4d3b-be23-60d2896234dc ro initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.26-2-686 } menuentry Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.26-2-686 (single-user mode) (on /dev/hda6) { insmod ext2 set root=(hd0,6) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set a4b3a821-a7dd-4d3b-be23-60d2896234dc linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.26-2-686 root=UUID=a4b3a821-a7dd-4d3b-be23-60d2896234dc ro single initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.26-2-686 } menuentry Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.26-1-686 (on /dev/hda6) { insmod ext2 set root=(hd0,6) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set a4b3a821-a7dd-4d3b-be23-60d2896234dc linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.26-1-686
Bug#570988: xserver-xorg-video-intel problems continue ?
Re recommended newest kernel 2.6.32-3-686 I *blush*. Of course, download from debian - packages and dpkg -i ... I kept thinking about modifying /etc/apt/something. Now the new recommended kernel is installed and running. Have to wait if bugs continue. with respect Juha Mäkinen juha.maki...@koti.soon.fi -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-x-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#469706: Random lockups on i945GM chipset
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel Version: 2:2.9.1-1 Severity: normal Same happens to me on my desktop-celeron, I just installed testing (Squeeze). Though I have 845G graphics-chip. Random lockups at unpredictable intervals (minutes, or hours, depending on luck). Though GL-intensive screensavers *may* attract these lockups. This never happened to me when using the old i810 driver. Things got interesting when I had to start using the intel driver. As far as I can tell, there are no error-messages, things just stop cold when this happens. I do not know it this is related, but: when I jump from X to console (ctl-alt-F1) this succeeds but when I try to return to X (ctl-alt-F7) I get dead black screen and I have to do cold reboot. -- Package-specific info: /var/lib/x11/X.roster does not exist. /var/lib/x11/X.md5sum does not exist.
