[Declude.JunkMail] Actions

2004-08-15 Thread Jeffrey M Donley
I just want to clarify the way to set 2 actions in junk mail. This is how I
understand it to warn and tag subject line with *spam*:

AHBLWARN
AHBLSUBJECT[*spam*]
BLITZEDALL WARN
BLITZEDALL SUBJECT[*spam*]
CBL WARN
CBL SUBJECT[*spam*]

Would this be correct?

 BLITZEDALL WARN
 BLITZEDALL SUBJECT[*spam*]

This will NOT work
you need to define 2 tests in Global.cfg

BLITZEDALLw ip4r ..
BLITZEDALLs ip4r .

then use

BLITZEDALLw WARN
BLITZEDALLs SUBJECT[*spam*]

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Actions At Different Weights

2003-07-03 Thread R. Scott Perry

Is this simply a matter of creating these weights in GLOBAL.CFG...

WEIGHT13 weight x x 13 0
WEIGHT55 weight x x 55 0
WEIGHT60 weight x x 60 0
and then the following entries in $default$.junkmail...

WEIGHT13 HOLD
WEIGHT55 ROUTETO
WEIGHT60 DELETE
would this achieve my desired result?
Unfortunately, this won't work -- an E-mail with a weight of 55 would fail
the WEIGHT13 and WEIGHT55 tests, so both the HOLD and ROUTETO actions would
be used. However, this results in a conflict (an E-mail can't be held and
delivered), and the HOLD action takes priority.

What you can do in this case is use (in the global.cfg file):

WEIGHT13 weightrange x x 13 54
WEIGHT55 weightrange x x 55 59
WEIGHT60 weight x x 60 0
and then you could use what you had before in the $default$.JunkMail file:

WEIGHT13 HOLD
WEIGHT55 ROUTETO
WEIGHT60 DELETE

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Actions

2002-06-12 Thread R. Scott Perry

My offical hostname in Imail is mail.mydomain.com so my Declude
configuration is c:\imail\declude\mail.mydomain.com. In that folder are
3 per user configurations user1.junkmail user2.junkmail and
user3.junkmail. If I send an individual message to any of those 3 users
explicitly the rules work great. If I send to the alias that points to
all 3, it does not work. So.I turned on debug mode and sent a test
message. In the debug it said it found the domain name for all 3 users
as mydomain.com and was therefor using the c:\imail\$default$.junkmail
definition.

That sounds like a quirk in the way that IMail processes the aliases. It
sounds like it uses the official domain name if E-mail is addressed
directly to the user (IE [EMAIL PROTECTED] would get changed to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]), but not when aliases are used (so
[EMAIL PROTECTED] would get changed to [EMAIL PROTECTED], not
[EMAIL PROTECTED]).

So yes, in this case you would need to keep two copies of the config file(s).

If I have a per user rule established for a standard alias that points
to 3 standard email addresses on the system, will the E-mail be moved
into the sub-folder for each of those 3 addresses?

Yes, it should.

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Actions

2002-06-11 Thread Bob Gelety

OK, well that makes sense. I'm using v1.53. I was going by the test
definitions in the $default$.junkmail file supplied with that version.
That solves that issue.

As far as the alias per/user definitions here is what I found:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] forwards to [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

My offical hostname in Imail is mail.mydomain.com so my Declude
configuration is c:\imail\declude\mail.mydomain.com. In that folder are
3 per user configurations user1.junkmail user2.junkmail and
user3.junkmail. If I send an individual message to any of those 3 users
explicitly the rules work great. If I send to the alias that points to
all 3, it does not work. So.I turned on debug mode and sent a test
message. In the debug it said it found the domain name for all 3 users
as mydomain.com and was therefor using the c:\imail\$default$.junkmail
definition.

So, for kicks I created a second folder called
c:\imail\declude\mydomain.com and stuck a second copy of the user1 user2
and user3 files in that folder and now it works.

Soin this mode, I would need to keep 2 copies of the configurations,
one for when email is coming directly to the user and one for when mail
is sent to an alias that includes those users.

Does any of that make any sense?
Thanks..
Bob

Subject: RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Actions

(Actual User Rules)When I configured my test users for the action of
SUBJECT [Spam Test] it works fine. The appropriate emails are delivered

with the subject noted appropriately. When I change from SUBJECT [Spam
Test] to FOLDER spam. Nothing seems to happen and the messages are
delivered to the normal inbox...

Are you using v1.54? The FOLDER action will only work in v1.54.

If you send an E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED], does the E-mail
get
delivered to the folder folder (instead of the inbox)?

(Alias Rules) It seems no matter what action I define in a per user
rule for an alias, none of them affect the email and it is delivered to

the users specified in the alias as normal. I have tried, SUBJECT,
FOLDER and HOLD. All of the email bypasses the actions and is
delivered. The headers however show the appropriate failed tests.

That is to be expected. When you have an alias, Declude JunkMail's
per-user settings are based on the actual address (the address the
E-mail
goes to), not the intended address (the alias). There is a way to
change
this (SWITCHRECIPS ON), but that will change everything in Declude to
use
the alias, which make have unwanted side-effects.

Right after the word FOLDER, COPYTO, or ROUTETO. For example:

  WEIGHT10FOLDER spam
  WEIGHT20ROUTETO [EMAIL PROTECTED]
  SPAMHEADERS COPYTO [EMAIL PROTECTED]

While I am grateful for all the new features, I do hope you
update the Web Site Manual. This way I can better understand
and implement them properly and more effectively to combat
spam without catching legitimate mail.

I appreciate that, and I also understand that it's not easy to keep up

No -- the FOLDER action is used to move the E-mail into a user's sub-folder
(mailbox), not to a specific folder on the hard drive. In the above
example, it would save the E-mail to the spam folder of whatever user
receives the E-mail (so they can check it using web messaging, for example).
