Re: [Snowdrift-design] Intro video script

2016-11-26 Thread William Hale
Hi All,

I skimmed through the thread and have a few comments based on the most
recent script. Overall, I am happy that we dropped any deep
explaination and most of the snow analogy. Below is my suggestion
followed by the inline comments that built it.

---

SUGGESTION/

When goods such as software, multimedia, and research are released
freely and for altrustic reasons, everyone is able to enjoy and benefit
from them.

But who pays for this content to be developed and sustained?

Snowdrift.coop's revolutionary crowdmatching platform empowers you to
join with others to fund the public goods /you/ want created.

You pledge to donate a tiny amount, with a preset limit, every month,
for each patron who supports a project with you.

Your donation is matched by others in the growing community, building
consensus that directs support to the most promising projects.

Join us in clearing the path to a free and open future!

/SUGGESTION

Reduce list, hopefully to three items, e.g. software, multimedia, and
research.

Avoid using the term public goods more than once, and probably not up
front as it is somewhat technical. Maybe use the word altruism.

pioneering -> innovative or revolutionary

each month -> every month

Connect budget with outgoing money, create a list that draws a line
from pocketbook to project.

the rest of the community -> others in a growing community

Can "Join us in clearing the path to a free and open future!" be a new
'official' tagline?

I think it sounds rather good.

I don't want to strip it completely if possible, the novelty is a good
thing.

Welcome Johannes!

Hope that you can make an upcoming voice chat, Mondays at 20:00 UTC. We
will most likely be using Mumble and an Etherpad.

I think explaining the road imagery is important and should be
included. I mean we need to answer the "why" this stuff needs to be
fund somehow and that has always been a good hook.

Only need to reference / keyword once.

I'm not sure that "free from limitations" gets the point across.

Free and open needs to be used only once and explained in a near by
sentence.

I would focus on two of the three or comma separate. This is the real
meat, maybe cut the cat around it? Don't reuse keywords and get it to
to like 30-45 seconds.

Otherwise, I liked the one you sent initially. It is pretty solid but
will take a fair amount of animation to make it look good before
attention wavers.

That being said, if this launch is really targetting
the people who have been watching us for years, then this audio clip
may make a better impression.

Thoughts?

Use the tagline here, "Crowdfunding for Public Goods".

I really do like the longer version and think it might hit home with
the long-term supporters.

Mray, what do you think could be done to illustrate it?

Wolftune and chreekat, be safe if the weather kicks up!

Seems very good, covers all of the important bases and utilizes
current terminology.

The only criticism would be that it seems to jump right in. A well done
first pane that requires click-to-play should remedy this.

Thanks for getting it out Aaron!

Would someone start a new thread with mock-ups of the final options?

Thanks!

I liked the left hand side of each of those drafts with a preference

Re: [Design] shirt colors

2015-12-11 Thread William Hale
I like mray's top row, left and right, with a slight pull towards right
for the basic logo.

For the cartoons, I like mray's bottom left and middle, with no real
pull either way.

However, when considering front/back, I think Aaron's top right
balances the contrasts well.

Basically, my vote is for blue ink on a light grey shirt.
