2006-05-21 Thread holycow
actually the funny thing is it does have proxy support.

just add it in the config file manually, or add it to the server with
normal xchat and xchat-gnome will be able to use it.

i think it just needs the ui frontend for the config edit support.

[Bug 41871] Re: xmms' volume slider should not mess with PCM but with master

2006-05-21 Thread Raoul Verveer
Indeed, the Totem volume control doesn't affect the master volume, or any other
hardware mixer: Totem uses a software mixer.
The slider from the gnome mixer applet only affects the master volume.
XMMS by default (in Ubuntu) defaults to the hardware PCM mixer. I don' t know
about mplayer...

If you open XMMS and decrease the volume, the PCM mixer is decreased.
The software mixer from Totem, nor the master volume is affected by
this. You can however increase the volume without opening XMMS, by
opening the gnome-mixer window and increase the PCM slider.

I know - but that would probably need a UI change - change the "Delete"
button to "Revert" in such a case? I'm not sure that such a change would
be very intuitive, but it's the first thought that comes to mind.
Actually implementing the deletion internally would be quite trivial.

Also, such a change impacts help documentation.

[Bug 37706] Re: [Live CD Dapper Drake/Flight 6] Totem resizes window after start out of screen

2006-05-21 Thread Pascal De Vuyst
I'm able to reproduce your bug using Dapper 20060522.

Confirming, steps to reproduce:
1. Open Nautilus and go to /usr/share/example-content.
2. Click to open SeeUbuntu.ogg, Totem opens playing the file.
3. Close Totem.
4. Click to open SeeUbuntu.ogg again from Nautilus. The totem window title bar
is not shown anymore and is hidden under the top panel. This is a usability
issue. The window actions are only acessible by right clicking the taskbar or
right clicking a window border.

Isn't this a window manager bug? The metacity window manager should
place the window in such a way that the title bar is always visible.

[Bug 39098] Re: thinkpad: volume button weighting

2006-05-21 Thread Paul Sladen
Something will probably change with the behaviour (visibley, or
otherwise) in the next version of Ubuntu.

For Dapper/6.06, we currently have a situation where when pressing the
VolumeUp key, the volume increases; and if you press the VolumeDown
key, the volume decreases.

For the most-part, that makes this a fairly minor issue, or bug; even
if we have to press those keys more than otherwise.

[Bug 45904] Re: [Dapper] Broken Dependency: libwnck18 libwnck-dev

2006-05-21 Thread Artificial Intelligence
Ahh! I had some months ago an unofficial sourcelist added to my repo. But
removed it again due to alot of dependency problems regarding -dev libs.
Though I thought I had got rid all its packages. (http://www.beerorkid.com.
compiz and XGL)

I should have checked http://packages.ubuntu.com first, sorry for wasting your
time :-/
Downgraded the package and it's working.

Thanks.

[Bug 45913] Re: [Bug 45913] Re: g-p's use of gettext uses more memory that needed

2006-05-21 Thread Ben Maurer
A quick solution might be to move the strings that describe each of the
default applications into a single file. While this isn't ideal (what
about packages from universe?), it would reduce the problem.

[Bug 45235] Re: XChat-GNOME Crashes When Setting Preferences For The First Time

2006-05-21 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The patch has that case:

"case 0x14f51cd8: /* version */
return PACKAGE_VERSION;"

where the code uses VERSION. Guillaume do you know if using
"PACKAGE_VERSION" is correct? I've let the new code path as it is but
maybe changing VERSION by PACKAGE_VERSION requires some other code
changes too?

This upload fixes the issue:

 xchat-gnome (0.11-0ubuntu6) dapper; urgency=low

[Bug 45913] g-p's use of gettext uses more memory that needed

2006-05-21 Thread Ben Maurer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

gnome-panel loads about 1.2 MB of RSS via .mo files for the purpose of
localizing menu names:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ./smem.pl `pidof gnome-panel` | grep langpack | awk '{ sum
+= $3 } END {print sum}'
1196

While this memory is in theory shared (it's not private memory), for
most of the .mo files, g-p is the only consumer of the file. This causes
extra disk access during boot, and also consumes excess memory.

[Bug 44082] Re: [Dapper] GNOME Panel icons (on right side) move apparently randomly on session start in some situations

2006-05-21 Thread Pascal De Vuyst
I'm using dapper 20060521 and gnome-panel 2.14.1-0ubuntu13.
I experience the same problem, sometimes after starting gnome the date and time
appears misaligned to the left of the mixer icon in the top panel (see
screenshot in attachment). Normally it should be located between the mixer icon
and the logout icon. Ocassionaly the date and time doesn't appear at all, only
the gray space between the mixer and logout icon is visible then.
This is probably caused by a recent update because I did not experience this
problem on dapper a month ago.

[Bug 45890] Message: "You need to reboot" after update of not system related packages

2006-05-21 Thread Thilo Six
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: notification-daemon

The notification applet tells me every time after upgrading of not system
related packages that i have to reboot.
e.g.:
Today i only updated example-content and festival.

A reboot seems not necessary to me.

Even if i would use festival a simple
$ /etc/init.d/festival restart

should suffice (which should/is done be dpkg anyway?).

tried to mount the partition in order to get access to the data on this
partition, it gave me a message that some operations may be unavailable
