[Bug 122757] Re: Blank icon just idles

2007-06-29 Thread Kip Warner
It is difficult to reproduce, and I wouldn't know how other than to
simply wait until it happens again so that I can grab a screenshot. I
will use the "report a problem" feature then as well. Thank you for your
patience.

[Bug 96669] Re: [feisty] deleting a song from the ipod only updates the database

2007-06-29 Thread Tim Hull
I am still having this problem as of Gutsy. Since iPods are so
commonplace, it seems like it would be best to either 1) get this fixed
somehow or 2) include an alternate solution for iPod support in the
default distribution.

[Bug 123162] need alternate mechanism to remove panel applets

2007-06-29 Thread Jason Kraftcheck
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Panel should be able to display a list of applets and allow removal of
them. Removing applets by right-clicking on them doesn't always work.
If an applet hangs, there is no way to remove it. Other applets like
the disk mounting applet don't display an icon to right-click on unless
a removable disk has been connected.

[Bug 123153] renaming folders so that they are hidden disables certain keyboard and mouse shortcuts

2007-06-29 Thread Jared Langson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Description:
When a a non hidden folder is renamed so that it becomes hidden enter and
double left clicking no longer open that folder/file and instead do nothing.
This problem is only contained within that window, when a new window is created
this problem does not exist. However, Alt+Down arrow, single right click ->
Open, and Ctrl+L then typing in the path, still work.

How to reproduce:
This has only been tested in my home folder. Choose any folder that is not
hidden. Single Right Click -> Rename and add . to the begining making it
hidden, press enter.

[Bug 123152] CD Burn Popup for additional Disk Handled Badly

2007-06-29 Thread Xeno Campanoli
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Binary package hint: nautilus

(Rewrite of later bug documented in steps of 121817, which I did so
badly that I invalidated it and am starting over)

Releases I've reproduced this on: Feisty (laptop) and Gutsy(desktop)
Summary of problem: Popups occur in a confusing fashion
Hardware:
[ 19.063689] ide1: BM-DMA at 0xde08-0xde0f, BIOS settings: hdc:DMA, hdd:pio
[ 21.063527] hdc: COMBO 52X32X52X, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
[ 21.845804] hdc: ATAPI 24X DVD-ROM CD-R/RW drive, 1536kB Cache, UDMA(33)
The only thing (I hope) pertinent here is it may be a slower drive than that
used by other testers.
uname -a
Linux choochoo 2.6.22-7-386 #1 Mon Jun 25 16:30:18 GMT 2007 i686 GNU/Linux
Steps:
0. Start with no disk in the drive.
1. Download an image like the Feisty install image I'm using to write to the
disk. I have mine on the desktop so I can access it with the mouse.
2. Mouse over the icon for this image, and pressing the right mouse button to
get the dropdown menu, press the "Write to disc" option with the left mouse
button.
3. Insert a disk into the drive and quickly hit the "Write" button on the popup
window.
My results: You will notice that a popup window will result instructing you
to insert a disk in the drive. Hit the button, and the same popup will
occur again. Until the disk has revved up, this popup window will reproduce.
Expected results:
  1. At best, the program should discern that the drive is revving up, and not
prompt the user unless something is wrong.
  2. At worst, if the drive or device driver doesn't have the ability to give
better information, the popup window should not immediately come up, but should
at least pause long enough to give the result of the users disk insertion time
to process.

Now it could be that this is just results on my two machines on Feisty
and Gutsy, but I don't think so. Apparently there have been problems
reproducing this, but I find it completely consistent. I also recommend
trying older slower drives that take a while to come up to speed after
insertion of the CD. Please also feel welcome to make constructive
questions here or to my email directly.

hdd:pio
2. Mouse over the icon for this image, and pressing the right mouse button to
get the dropdown menu, press the "Write to disc" option with the left mouse
button.
3. Hit the "Write" button on the popup window.
4. Examine the subsequent two popup windows. Notice that the button on
the top popup is above the button on the popup underneath. This is
bad formatting and should be considered a bug.

[Bug 123138] Re: evolution losing connection w/exchange server

2007-06-29 Thread Vincent Legout
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is
important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers.
You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in evolution.

[Bug 123138] Re: evolution losing connection w/exchange server

2007-06-29 Thread Vincent Legout
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description
didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How
to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

2007-06-29 Thread Bogdan Butnaru
Hello Justin,

Yes, I've kept up with the updates and it's still happening. Note that I
don't think this is a problem with the GIMP itself, it works correctly
when I start it from the command line or the application menu. It's very
likely a problem with the way it registers itself to Nautilus' open-with
list.

(The fact that I have four different entries is a good hint...)

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

But Nautilus does not recognise these files and shows the icons as text and

Instead it should open TSC. I would prefere if it connected directly to the
remote desktop, instead of showing the editing window.
If a person should edit the rdp file with TSC, he should right click and click
"Edit Remote Desktop" or something like that.

Thank you.

Changing gstreamer-properties default output to "X Window System (No

The system consists of an MSI KM266 mainboard with VT8378 S3 UniChrome

Thanks again.

[Bug 122637] Re: notification-daemon crashed with signal 5 in g_logv()

2007-06-29 Thread Bryce Harrington
The gdk_x_error seems to be just another error message logger, the bug
seems to lay between notify_daemon_notify_handler and a call to
XGetWindowProperty. Perhaps XGetWindowProperty is getting called with
an invalid parameter? length=2147483647 looks odd, but could also be an
invalid pointer.

Thanks, Bruce!

If it makes you want to fix this bug, then perhaps "all this moaning"
was not so wrong! Even if it is not a security risc (I do agree with
Sebastien), this bug is important, and it might well stop somebody using
Ubuntu. Sound-Juicer is the standard application for ripping CDs to MP3
players, and just that does not work! The workaround described above is
not easy, and I am not even shure it really works (see comment of
Sergio).

Good luck! But don't forget to sleep the night anyhow!

[Bug 118348] Re: Gnome-session crash

2007-06-29 Thread Marcel Stimberg
No, I don't think it's the same issue: The icons do not reach the border
of the splash image, and in my case the splash screen *does* disappear,
the session crashes afterwards... I actually just noticed that the crash
does not only depend on the splash image from blubuntu-session-splashes,
but also on the use of the ubuntustudio-theme. I.e.: Only combining the
two leads to the crash, if I exchange the splash screen with the
ubuntustudio splash screen it works. If I stay with the blubuntu splash
screen but change the theme to the SphereCrystal theme it works as
well... Does that make any sense to you?

[Bug 123056] Nautilus FTP miscounts file queu

2007-06-29 Thread ThinkBuntu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When transferring files via FTP in Nautilus (in this case, copying them
from the server to my Desktop), the "Copying Files" progress bar
miscounts the file queu, so that at a point, the files transferred
exceeds the file queu, and "0:00 Remaining" is displayed.

[Bug 123052] CD/DVD burner needs different icon for completion

2007-06-29 Thread Simon Francis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus-cd-burner

I like how I can watch my window list to see the progress of CDs/DVDs
being burnt. Unfortunatly the icon for completing a burn is the same as
a burn that is almost complete. It would be nice if the completed burn
had a different icon.

[Bug 123051] CD/DVD burner doesn't ask for conformation on cancel

2007-06-29 Thread Simon Francis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus-cd-burner

Nautilus CD/DVD burner doesn't ask for conformation on cancel. This is really
bad because
1. The cancel button by default has focus and is easy to activate accidentally
with the keyboard
2. Cancelling a burn wastes money in wasted disks.

[Bug 84007] Re: Cannot edit audio profiles without closing the list

2007-06-29 Thread Sergio Zanchetta
Sebastien, I have never tought ubuntu maintainers sleep the night instead of
fixing bugs (But what are we supposed to do during the night? ;-) Just
joking... :-))) )
You and all the people behind Ubuntu are really good and make a really big
effort to make Ubuntu nicer everyday...

I just meant that sometimes it seems to me that "easy to Use" and
"auto-consistency" about Ubuntu is not always put as an important point..
Probably I'm wrong, but sometimes this is the feeling...
