Just tried your tip but it does not work for me.

The remote server was already stopped.

Enabling or disabling it has no effect, the X server always restarts at
logout, and always uses VT9 instead of VT7.

What can I do to avoid that?

[Bug 178324] Login screen appears twice in Xubuntu Hardy

2007-12-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When I login with my username and password in Xubuntu (Hardy Alpha2), it
returns to the terminal and I see the start-up-procedures for a moment. Then it
gets back to the login screen. When I login then, it finally goes to my desktop.
So, in fact I have to login twice before I get into my account.
Maybe it restarts the X server after the first login?

This does only happen when starting up the computer, not when logging
off/logging in while the pc is on.

Well, just after I submitted this bug report, the printer whirred into

I would reopen this bug if possible submitting the errors from the console

I use evolution 2.12.1 under kubuntu 7.10 in which my KDE default settings
indicate firefox as browser. I followed the guideline 'Open link in new window'
as behavior setting (this in firefox options cause in KDE is not possible so
far). Maybe it is a problem of KDE for a gnome application like Evolution. If
you like I could submit other proper infos.

In the following screenshot I try to open 7 times a link in an e-mail of

Hi Fergal, sorry for the delay.

yes, for Hardy. You will have to set your apt sources.list to use the

will have to 'prevu' each one of them).

2007-12-24 Thread hggdh
Yes, I would say so. I think this can be raised to wishlist, and an
upstream set (also as wishlist) if not yet there.

The problem here is that Evo does the scaling/print preview as fire &
forget: it calls the rendering, and closes the dialog (so there is no
way of going back and re-scaling except by opening the print dialog
again, and re-scaling).

I will do it in a few.

[Bug 68582] Re: Evolution doesn't open html links

2007-12-24 Thread aleandro
OK I have it. It is a bug related to KDE. I created a new user and I
logged in. Bug disappears. Even delating my .kde directory all returns
to function. I don't know where bug is exactly located but surely in
.kde directory. Bug is therefore not related to Evolution but to KDE
settings. Hope someone would correct it in next releases.

Thx and sorry for wrong submit.

[Bug 178452] Hardy - Evolution Hangs on Recovery dialog

2007-12-24 Thread Bengt Thuree
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I reported this bug on #177709, but got the advice to create a new bug which I
hereby do.

In my case Evolution displays the recovery dialog, but I can not get past this
dialog. Evolution just hangs, I managed to get past it before by removing all
Evolution components, purging the ~/.evolution directory, and re-installing
Evolution again.
I have tried different things, but my evolution just hangs on the recovery
dialog.

I tried a gdb backtrace, but did not really show anything at all.

Using latest Hardy, and updated to the latest software level as per 24th
December 2007.

Would really appreciate some hints and tips for how to get my evolution to work
again.
Or how to produce more information for you.

[Bug 178454] "lock to panel" should prevent deletion

2007-12-24 Thread Shawn McMahon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Wishlist: "lock to panel" should also prevent deletion. Perhaps with a
popup that has a checkbox to unlock and allow deletion.

This would help prevent carelessly removing the Trashcan instead of
emptying it, which in my vanity I'd like to think I'm not the only guy
who keeps doing. :)

I imagine this would also cut down on followups "Trashcan disappeared!",
which I hasten to add I have NOT done. :)

The reason I am asking is that we then can consider a backport of the
fix to Gutsy. In that case, anyone of you affected, and interested in
the backport, could prepare the patch and propose it.

Please keep in mind that almost all of us are volunteers here, and --
very much like you all, I guess -- have also other things to do. Instead
of just stating this is annoying, please act on it, and help all of us.

[Bug 178513] create a foldeer when copying an artist / album

2007-12-24 Thread David Prieto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I have just discovered that you can drag songs, albums, artists and even
genres from rhythmbox to a nautilus windows to copy the songs they
contain. And it's just amazing.

The downside of it is that it copies everything in the folder you
dragged it to, which is fine if you are dragging random songs but not so
much if it's several albums you drag because all the songs get mixed
together.

If you drag one or several albums, or even artists or genres, subfolders
should be created with the pattern "artist - album", containing the
songs related to that album and ideally the cover art, if possible.

[Bug 178529] volume control applets defaults to CD

2007-12-24 Thread Henrik Brink
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

The volume control applets defaults to CD on my Lenovo 3000 V100,
requiring me to choose either PCM or Speaker as default device before
being able to control the volume of normal playback from the applet.
This is of course not very serous, but since Ubuntu is all about Just
Working, it would be nice to default to something usable, like new to
linux users would expect.

My sound card is:

$ lspci | grep -i audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition
Audio Controller (rev 02)

Please let me know if I can provide you with anymore useful information.

[Bug 178535] Rhythmbox (Hardy) clobbers Rhythmbox (Gutsy)'s music database

2007-12-24 Thread Michael Doube
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I have a development install of Hardy on one partition, Production
install of Gutsy on another partition and all my working files in /home
on another partition. If I run rhythmbox on Hardy (to test sound
functionality and because I like to listen to music) the database is
rebuilt, then I go back to Gutsy, where Rhythmbox complains that the
database was made by a newer version and that it has to rebuild it.

It's not a major issue, just annoying. Can Rhythmbox in gutsy be
upgraded to support the database format in rhythmbox (hardy)?

Well, just after I submitted this bug report, the printer whirred into

there is no feedback given to the user about what Evince is doing while
it submits a print job.

[Bug 178436] Re: movie player only play the introduction of a divx movie, movie was War (Jet li)

2007-12-24 Thread Basilio Kublik
Hi there
does this happens in other video playback programs as well?, let's say xine or
mplayer, it seems to me more a codec issue rather than totem itself, but i'm
just guessing.

Thanks in advance

[Bug 178441] Can't connect to SFTP server

2007-12-24 Thread Sam Morris
Public bug reported:

I don't seem to be able to connect to a particular SSH server. I enter
its details in the 'connect to server' dialog box, but after pressing
Connect, nothing happens.

This server is configured to ask for an OTPW password... when connecting
on the command line, the conversation looks like this:

$ ssh host
Password 036:
Password:
Linux host 2.6.18-5-686 #1 SMP Wed Sep 26 17:54:59 UTC 2007 i686
... etc.

If nautilus is getting confused by the password prompt then the user
should be shown some kind of message to indicate this condition... as it
is, the window never opens, double clicking on the network share icon on
the desktop does nothing, etc.

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
