[Bug 196011] [NEW] Certain apps experiencing slowness under latest gnome in Hardy
Public bug reported: Lastest hardy on Feb 26, 2008. Certain applications have started experiencing slowness on window operations today. For example, Firefox 3 open file dialog takes about 20 seconds to open up. Thunderbird 2.0 does as well. However, swiftweasel shows now such slowness. Gnome appearance applet takes about 20 seconds to launch (shows up in the running program list immediately, but the window takes 20 seconds to pop up). Nautilus flies open, too. I ran strace on firefox and thunderbird and the slowness coincides with a futex ETIMEDOUT event. This repeats every few milliseconds until the window opens. The firefox trace is attached to this comment. The same error happend in Thunderbird. I am running 64-bit with an encrypted file system (128-bit AES). Haven't seen any slowness until today, though. ** Affects: meta-gnome2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Certain apps experiencing slowness under latest gnome in Hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/196011 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to meta-gnome2 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 195997] [NEW] [hardy] wrong icon for stock_mail-priority-high.png in non-Human icon themes
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-icon-theme In the early Hardy alpha versions, the icon for marking mail as high priority was a very nice red exclamation mark in the tango style. Somewhere along the way, this icon has changed to the emblem- important.png file, in fact, stock_mail-priority-high.png now symlinks to emblem-important.png This only applies to themes based of the gnome icon theme, eg tangerine, mist, etc. Not the human icon theme, which uses it's own orange circle exclamation for stock_mail-priority-high. The tango style red exclamation looked fantastic with the rest of the tango-ised icons in evolution, the current exclamation-in-a-circle icon doesn't look so hot. Unfortunately, I can't find any screenshots of the better icon, but if it helps, I could redownload an early hardy alpha and find the correct image. Re: [Bug 182474] Re: [Hardy Alpha 3] Broken launcher (normally Firefox) in default Gobuntu install
Mikko, I think that you will find the reason for your error is that the command for Firefox Beta 3 is "firefox-3.0" rather than Firefox. While that is an error, it is a separate error and I would expect it to be fixed. When Firefox 3 Beta becomes "Firefox", I would expect the command for it to be changed to "firefox" and the link should just work again. -- [Hardy Alpha 3] Broken launcher (normally Firefox) in default Gobuntu install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/182474 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to epiphany-browser in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 195961] [NEW] [Hardy] adjust time & date dialog vanishes completely after closing it in a certain way
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor This happens to me on an up-to-date installation of hardy alpha 5. After closing the "Adjust Date & Time"-window by clicking on the "x"-button (the usual close-button that's on the top right corner of every window), it cannot be opened again. I have to log out and in again, before I am able to get the "Adjust Date & Time"-window again. If closed by clicking "cancel" or "set system time" everything is fine. Note: I am referring to the "Adjust Date & Time"-window you get when right clicking on the Clock-applet and select "Adjust Date & Time". I am NOT referring to the time-admin application you get when you select System -> Administration -> Time and Date. That is a different one. Steps to reproduce: 1. Right-click on the Clock applet and select "Adjust Date & Time" 2. Close it by clicking on the "x"-button in the top right corner. (Closing it any other way does not trigger the bug) 3. Repeat step no. 1 and see that nothing happens (a.k.a no window opens) Current workaround: Log out and log back in ** Affects: gnome-system-monitor (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [Hardy] adjust time & date dialog vanishes completely after closing it in a certain way https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195961 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-monitor in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 195939] [NEW] gnome sometimes forgets default mixer tracks device
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center In current Hardy (and also Gutsy), when I reboot Gnome often forgets which mixer device I've chosen as default. This results in my volume control hotkeys not working as expected (controlling the volume on the wrong device) until I launch gnome-sound-properties again to choose the right device. [Bug 195929] [NEW] Cosmetic bug: rectangular white outline surrounding rounded buttons
Public bug reported: Ubuntu release: Hardy (fresh install from Alpha5 desktop cd, all updates as of February 26th) System: Dell Inspiron 510m laptop Graphics subsystem: VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02) Rounded GTK+ buttons are rendered with a rectangular white outline, most noticeable in the new Firefox 3.0 Beta 3 release when browsing Gmail (not not limited to this site). I am attaching two small screenshots; one of the "Archive" button while using the "Ubuntulooks" theme, and the same button while using "Clearlooks". You may need to zoom the images as I cropped them in order to avoid personal information being exposed. Steps to reproduce: 1. Ensure Ubuntulooks theme is active 2. Open Firefox 3, navigate to http://mail.google.com and log in to your account 3. Observe the "Archive" and "Report spam" buttons against the blue background. 4. Change to any other theme installed by default in Ubuntu, and repeat steps 2-3. Expected results: Buttons have no noticeable outline, or else a thin white outline, rounded at the edges for rounded buttons. Actual results: 1. For Ubuntulooks theme: Buttons have a white rectangular outline, creating noticeable white marks at the edges of rounded buttons. 2. For all other themes installed by default: results are as expected (above) Note: This is most likely not a Firefox 3 or core GTK+ bug, as all other themes besides Ubuntulooks work as expected. ** Affects: ubuntulooks (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Cosmetic bug: rectangular white outline surrounding rounded buttons https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195929 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to ubuntulooks in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 194813] Re: always at the end of copy. This bug is repeatable.
Hi. I am in the process of moving from microsoft to UBUNTU. In order to accomplish that I am copying files from my old machine to a kingston 4GB USB disk. Then I connect the USB to this machine and copy the files. All the files has been copied fine! It has nothing to do with my files, They are all fine, among them are my MP3 files, tons of MPG,AVI,M2V (my video files). If you'll insist I will give you some, but the problem seem to do nothing with the files. The way I deal with it is to select all the files in the USB disk at once and copy. of corse in 50% of my coping it crash at the end. it simply disapper and later I am asked if I'd like to send a bug report wich I did twice. It happens when I copy small amount of files and up to full 4GB so I think the number of files or thier size is not relevant to the problem. hopes this helps Amir On ב', 2008-02-25 at 20:12 +, Jacob Peddicord wrote: > When you copy the files to the hard disk, do you get any crash dialogs > at all, or does the copy dialog simply disappear? In mplayer this subtitle is successfully loaded automatically with the video file when option 'sub-fuzziness=1' is set. (It loads any subtitle file with name starting "aaa" when loading aaa.avi.) It would be nice to have this feature in Totem too. ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Automatic subtitle loading should also load e.g. aaa_cz.srt for aaa.avi https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195887 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
