2008-06-04 Thread Yulian Ardiansyah
The bug still exists.
I'm using UbuntuStudio 8.04, updated with recent kernel (2.6.24-18-rt).
Already tried installing the 2.22.2-0ubuntu3 version of the gnome-desktop-data
package from -proposed.

Conky reading shows that CPU still stays at 100% and I'm still unable to
choose the wallpaper with mouseclick.

[Bug 237424] [NEW] Evolution forgets webcal passwords, and web calendars are not displayed on the gnome-clock-applet

2008-06-04 Thread alpianon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution, evolution-data-server

evolution and evolution-data-server version 2.22.1.1-0ubuntu3

Even after the fixing of bug #228794, evolution still forgets webcal
passwords.

How to reproduce:
1) Open evolution
2) Subscribe to a web calendar and insert password with the remember password
flag
3) Close evolution and reopen it
4) Evolution asks for the password again and again...
5) The clock applet do not display web calendars at all

I renamed this bug so it will turn up in search results for encoding

If a maintainer could mark this as enhancement like #204802, that
would also be helpful.

[Bug 237436] [NEW] Totem: turning off visualization, turns it on

2008-06-04 Thread tsg1zzn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

Environment: Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron LiveCD

I wanted to play ubuntu Sax.ogg, so I double clicked on it. It opened in
Totem.

Bug 1: The screen flickered black once.

I thought I could prevent the flickering by turning off the
visualizations.

Bug 2: There was actually no visualtization even though Show visual
effects when an audio file is played was checked. This was probably
because no visualization effect was selected.

But I didn't want any visualization, so I UNckecked the box, and clicked
Close. I repeat: I unchecked the box.

Bug 3: Unchecking the box turned visualtizations ON.

By checking the box, then unchecking it yet again I was able to turn
visualizations off for now.

[Bug 39890] Re: characters change when selecting text

2008-06-04 Thread Broflofski.Eric
In my document the € Euro-signs multiply when the text is selected.
After the first original Euro-sign there follow 4 - 9 partly overlapping
additional Euro signs. The original Text under the additional Euro-signs lies
under white blocks, which seem to make room for the Euros.

I cant say, if the problem is caused by the Euro sign itself, or if it is the
group of caracters. In my document the Euro sign comes always along in a
context like this:
 6 Mio. €/km

Subject: [Bug 237139] Re: No bullets are shown while typing password at logon
screen

OK, I had already made that upgrade, but did not experience this issue. It
seemed to me, from my experience on the forums, that the upgrade to -17 caused
a lot of problems for people, but unless somebody can confirm this bug, we will
leave it as New. The reason we can't confirm it at this time is because it is
possible that there was another cause for the problem, but the kernel upgrade
happened to be in the mix and was simply the most visible candidate as the
source of the problem.
Hopefully somebody else will stop by and confirm this, otherwise it is
fortunate that it acts more like a simple and easily fixed glitch than a full
fledged bug.
All the best.

[Bug 164584] Re: gedit: trash files do not show in file browser

2008-06-04 Thread Marc K.
I am still using the same versions of gedit (2.20.3) and Nautilus
(2.20.0) so yes, it's still an issue for me.

I don't know whether it's still an issue with newer versions because I haven't
been able to install the latest gedit
2.22.3, although from gedit's What's new lists since 2.20.3 there seem to be
nothing related with this issue.

BTW there are a couple of issues when installing gedit right from the source on
Gutsy (Ubuntu 7.10) apparently
related to file/library locations. I'm not familiar enough with Ubuntu/Debian
and the Synaptic Package Manager
has no update for gedit (at least until last week I checked).

Thanks for the reminder and sorry if this doesn't help.

[Bug 230804] Re: Street Address missing when importing contacts (ldiff format)

2008-06-04 Thread Jorge de la Garza
Hello Sebastian,

I'm new to Linux, and new to bugging report. I changed my contacts.ldif
file with a new one that only has two contacts with dummy information.

Regarding the duplication of the bug, I didn't open the bug 372202 in
bugzilla (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372202) . This was
my first bug opened :P

I opened the bug 534956 in bugzilla
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=534956) as you recommended
and I understand that now it is closed because it is duplicated
(372202).

I'm a little confused. Which ticket is closed because of the
duplication? 534956 in bugzilla or 230804 in here (launchpad),

I see that bug 372202 in bugzilla has been open since November last
year, and doesn't provide as much information as I provided. Anyway, I
don't have as much experience in these matter as you do.

Do you have any clues when this will be addressed?

Thanks in advanced!

[Bug 214267] Re: gtk-builder-convert crashes when converting menus

2008-06-04 Thread Phil Housley
The best fix I've found for is changing the convert script at line 425
to read:

properties['stock_id'] = get_property_node(node, 'label')

I don't know if that's what was intended originally, but the script
seems to refer to things my glade files never contain.

[Bug 214410] Re: f-spot sigsevs on AMD64

2008-06-04 Thread matteo
I believe I am referring to the patched version of f-spot:

f-spot 0.4.3.1-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb vs f-spot_0.4.2-1ubuntu2_amd64.deb

As far as I can see there is no further version of f-spot in the
'proposed repository' to fix this issue. It seems to me that f-spot is
broken again with an error very similar (if not equal) to the one that
was affecting version 0.4.2. What I am missing? :)

[Bug 199960] Re: error starting GNOME Settings Daemon

2008-06-04 Thread clutchmm
I'm not sure if my issue is with the settings daemon or not. I am
running Hardy on my laptop and desktop. My desktop had feisty AMD64 so I
did a clean install of Hardy i386 so I could use the programs that
haven't made it to the 64-bit architecture. My laptop was just upgraded
to Hardy since it was already running Feisty i386. My desktop hasn't had
any problems but my laptop has had this issue since the upgrade. I
switched just after the official release so I have been just dealing
with it for over a month now. I have applied all updates that have shown
up thinking that a fix was coming sooner or later. My laptop has never
had XGL installed and compiz has always been disabled because my on-
board graphics card doesn't work with compiz. Yet I still have this
issue where my gnome session won't start unless I change the session to
gnome failsafe (or terminal failsafe and type 'gnome-session'). When I
try to log in normally I briefly see a flash of a terminal screen and
catch something at the bottom about startup scripts and the screen
goes black and stays there until I get frustrated and manually turn off
the power. Luckily I have still been able to use it in gnome failsafe
mode or I might have destroyed my laptop by now. So if this issue is
fixed how do I do it? None of the released updates have made a
difference and nothing here has worked except for the failsafe
terminal start. Please help me.

[Bug 225950] Re: [8.04] Drawing evolution window on screen very slow

2008-06-04 Thread Anthony M Simonelli
Here's what I've observed from some crazy experiments. I've noticed
that Evolution 2.22, regardless when using it on a normal Ubuntu install
or on a LTSP thin client, it is more sluggish than the Evolution 2.12
found in Gusty, for the very same reasons stated above. It seems to
take two seconds for Evolution to Formating Message where the previous
version, the formating was instant. Scrolling from one email to the
next is also very choppy, especially using the previous and next buttons
in the tool bar. This is experienced on a variety of machines, all at
different speeds and specs (and apparently many other users).

To try and pin-point what the problem is, I tried a few combinations of
installs and found mixed results. All of these tests were with thin
clients. First I had a basic Ubuntu 8.04 and LTSP installed and the
8.04 Evolution packages installed by default which had poor performance.
I then installed Gusty's Evolution packages 2.12 instead of Evolution
2.22 on the very same server and the performance was excellent. I then
tried Debian Lenny's Evolution packages 2.22 on this server and found
the problem still exists. I then tried a complete install of Debian
Lenny's LTSP server and Evolution 2.22 and found the performance to be
excellent (overall much quicker than Ubuntu's I might add). In summary:

8.04 LTSP + 8.04 Evo 2.22 = slow performance
8.04 LTSP + 7.10 Evo 2.12 = excellent performance
8.04 LTSP + Debian Evo 2.22 = slow performance
Debian Lenny LTSP + Debian Evo 2.22 = excellent performance

Based on these results, there is something about the Evolution 2.22
Ubuntu package that makes it a great deal sluggish than 2.12 in Gusty
(the problem does NOT exist in Debian). When installing the 2.12
packages, I found no problem whatsoever so the problem seems to be with
Evolution 2.22 and that the LTSP thin client model magnifies the problem
a great deal.

I hope this helps somewhat on where to look.
