[Bug 267635] Re: Moving item changes focus when it shouldn't

2008-09-07 Thread komputes
Great Idea! I would kick this bug up a notch and allow the user to ctrl-
click or shift-click multiple items and bulk-move them (or for that
matter allow the user to turn them off in one click when multiple items
are selected). That way you don't have to "keep navigating back when
moving a lot of items" as you say.

[Bug 267613] Re: error al aplicar traduccion a la entrada (aspell: no word list can be found for the language"".) complemento deshabilitado

2008-09-07 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, , because your description
didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How
to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 267642] [NEW] copying a folder from a secure webdav server to disk results in a html file

2008-09-07 Thread Snowball2050
Public bug reported:

Intention: To copy a folder (empty or containing files) from a Secure
Webdav server to any location (local, or on the dav server)

Result: A fully formatted html file with the same filename as the folder
I was trying to copy. It contains hierarchical links to the files
contained within the original folder (if any). This is repeatable every
time. An example of one such html file for the empty folder "Folder" is
attached.

I am running a fully updated Intrepid .

kernel: 2.6.27-2-generic
gvfs 0.99.6-0ubuntu3
nautilus 1:2.23.91-0ubuntu1

I'm not sure what other information to provide. I'll help in any way I
can.

[Bug 27014] Re: evolution bug, "Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync"

2008-09-07 Thread Joachim
Am on Intrepid Ibex with Evolution 2.23.91 and had the "Summary and
folder mismatch even after a sync" error when trying to empty the
(Evolution-) Trash for one of my POP3 accounts (at Yahoo).

After the upgrade to Intrepid Evolution migrated to a new sqlite and
crashed right after that. However, it worked ok since then. Now I have
two E-Mails in my Trash that I can't remove, ok, no big deal, just a
minor annoyance. But can it become bigger?

[Bug 33673] Re: Not obvious when logout is stalled by window on another virtual desktop / window beneath front-most one / window is minimised

2008-09-07 Thread Saïvann Carignan
The bug is not yet fixed in gedit, but there's been serious improvement
in intrepid. If you try to shutdown intrepid using the fast user
switcher applet, you now always get a window telling you when a program
is blocking logout. You have the choice to lock the screen, cancel
logout request, or logout anyway.

It would be interesting to see if this nice new intrepid feature gets
applied to all shutdown menus. If this is the case, then gedit might not
needs to be fixed.

[Bug 267635] [NEW] Moving item changes focus when it shouldn't

2008-09-07 Thread Brian Clements
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: alacarte

When I'm moving (actually copying, referring to bug #116503) Items in
alacarte from one folder to another, the focus changes to the
destination folder. I feel that it should remain focused on the source
folder so I don't have to keep navigating back when moving a lot of
items. If you think about it, 100% of all move behavior on any operating
system works this way by default; it doesn't open up the target folder
you just dropped onto. I don't see any reason why alacarte should be any
different.

[Bug 262958] Re: Allow to choose which icons are displayed on the desktop

2008-09-07 Thread Endolith
Appearance preferences is not the right place to choose which Desktop
icons are visible. It has nothing to do with themes.

Maybe it should be more like the "Add to panel" tool, where you would
right-click on the Desktop and select "Add icons to desktop"?

Then they could be removed by right-clicking and selecting "Remove from
desktop", which is in the place where "Move to trash" would normally be.

[Bug 89352] Re: open file dialog crashes when you have moved images out of the last directory files were opened from (gtk_file_info_render_icon)

2008-09-07 Thread Marcus Dapp
Works for me in Hardy.

I tested steps 1-8 in two ways for step 6:
1) I moved different files from the one opened into /foo/bar;
2) I moved the previously opened file from /foo into /foo/bar and opened it
again in Gimp.
Finally, I edited both instances of the same file and saved them.

Gimp did not crash and editing/saving (under the same name in different
folders) worked.

[Bug 224351] Re: can't see Windows shared drives in Ubuntu 8,04

2008-09-07 Thread gregphil
How do I report confirmation of the bug described above? i.e. Nautilus
in ubuntu 8.04 can't browse Windows shares

On a true peer-to-peer network (a subnet with NO domain controler, NO
wins server, NO dedicated single servers of any kind). In ubuntu 8.04.1
the Nautilus network file browser fails to get and show the shares from
Windows machines when the shares are not anonymous (when the shares
require user/password authentication).

Nautilus DOES show the shares from other types of linux machines (say
from CentOS 5.2 machines).

For example: If one of the Windows Xp machines is named "LAPTOP" and is
sharing the entire C drive (no rants please)

Smbclient -L LAPTOP is able to get the shares and is able to connect, after you
provide a password
smb//LAPTOP/C<--WORKS FINE

However, since these are NOT anonymous shares from the Windows box,
smbclient -L LAPTOP -N returns:

/home/greg #smbclient -L LAPTOP -N
Anonymous login successful
Domain=[MYGROUP] OS=[Windows 5.1] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager]

Sharename Type Comment
- ---
cli_rpc_pipe_open: cli_nt_create failed on pipe \srvsvc to machine LAPTOP.
Error was NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Error returning browse list: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Anonymous login successful
Domain=[MYGROUP] OS=[Windows 5.1] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager]

Server Comment
----
LAPTOP LAPTOP
LIVING-ROOM LIVING-ROOM

WorkgroupMaster
----
MYGROUP LAPTOP

Under these conditions the nautilus network file browers fails to
browse, however if you then enter a valid share in the nautilus target
text box ( such as smb://laptop/c ) nautilus then prompts for the
password and IS able to connect to the share.

I have been unable to find any way change the configurations (on ubuntu
or Windows) and make authenticated WindowsXP shares work.

Thank You. (Sodo I need to do something else to make this a "real" bug
report?)
By the way, the CentOS 5.2 machines (using KDE) can browse the WindowsXP shares
with no issues.

[Bug 267419] Re: [hardy] Cannot use question mark ("?") in URL link/shortcut

2008-09-07 Thread Kris Marsh
Hi, This is not a duplicate.

The problem in bug #233913 does not seem to exist on my machine.
Additionally, the 'custom launcher' is a different application to the
'Create Launcher' on the desktop.

If you can confirm that the following reproducible steps above result in
the correct outcome in Ibex then that would be great. Otherwise, this is
still a bug.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How
to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 267548] [NEW] After crash of Gnome-Panel some systray-icons don't reappear in Notification-Area

2008-09-07 Thread midnightflash
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Sometimes, especially when switching between the workspaces, the panel crashes.
Would be no problem at all, because it is restarting without a clue.
But after this restart some systray-icons don't reappear in the
notification-area.
Only "non-Gnome" programs useing the tray-option are affected, but those are
always affected. To give some examples: Sancho, Alltray (all programs started
with this), TVBrowser, Amarok, etc.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start a program with alltray f.e. and force(?) the panel to crash.
2. Wait a few seconds for the panel to restart itself again.
3. See that the non-Gnome-icons of the icons are missing in the
notification-area.

Actual results:
See above.

Expected results:
All icons reappear in the notification-area.

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

[Bug 267535] [NEW] Rhythmbox does not work with the Teamspeak Client

2008-09-07 Thread chris1285
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Hi,

when i connect with the Teamspeak Client to my Server, rhythmbox does not play
any radio song.
I can't say it for local songs, because i don't have one.
I think it's a problem with the soundcard and the sound, because there are 2
programs launching on it.. whatever :)

[Bug 185563] Re: [hardy] seahorse agent doesn't work with gnupg smartcard readers

2008-09-07 Thread Stephan Hermann
well,

ok then...I wonder who came up with this description, but

* upstream is aware that seahorse is not mature enough to be a full fledged
replacement for gpg-agent
* upstream doesn't have the money to by a 15 euro gpg card reader
* their is no starting code for seahorse...and I wonder if we in ubuntu have
the men-power to work on that bug...

But I could be wrong and didn't read the upstream bug correctly.

even if this bug is either confirmed (which is in my eyes the correct
status with a higher prio then triaged, because we know already that
this doesn't work and is a missing feature) or triaged, it will rot a
long time from now.

Well, I just wonder what prio confirmed vs. triaged has

2008-09-07 Thread ktulu77
I have this problem on my laptop (XPS 1530) and my desktop computer.
If I change in the agency the option "Using space key to input non-breakable
space character" to the second option (Space key outputs usual space at any
level") the problem disappears on both computers.

Someone should change the priority, the search box is unusable with this
bug with a french config.

2008-09-07 Thread Sébastien Valette
I also confirm that gatopeich's version of the powernowd script works
for me also.

A small secondary effect is that the gnome cpufreq-applet does not allow
to change the governor. Instead of proposing powersave, performance and
so on..., it only shows "performance" which actually throttles the
frequency depending on cpu load. Anyway, thanks!

[Bug 241206] Re: On Hardy screen saver never displays

2008-09-07 Thread Luis Villa
Happens here too; also, an ATI. To be more specific (since for some
reason this is marked 'incomplete' despite multiple confirmations of the
existence of the bug):

(1) open gnome-screensaver-preferences; observe that previews for screensavers
work fine
(2) set to (for example) 'regard the computer as idle after' [1 minute] and
'activate screensaver when computer is idle'
(3) close the dialog, wait one minute
(4) observe that the screen starts to fade, as if the screensaver is kicking in
(5) immediately after the screen fades to black, the screen goes back to full
brightness and does not lock. EXPECTED BEHAVIOR: the screensaver turns on; if
the option is selected, the screen is locked.

This absolutely should not be low importance:
(1) the software fails to fulfill its primary task (blank the screen)
(2) this is a security problem, as the screen doesn't lock.

Didn't happen with any previous Ubuntu release on this same exact
hardware (which has had every Ubuntu release on it since... hrm,
whatever B was?)

The bug is, that whenever I press the "up" Key, it launches gnome-screenshot
intead of i.e. navigating upwards in a texfile.
I selected "Thinkpad T60" as well as Generic/Evdev Keyboard in
System->Keyboard->Layout as my keyboard, both don't work. Also "setxkbmap
-model evdev" doesn't fix this for me

[Bug 264801] Re: Crash: (ga-client.c:237):ga_client_start: assertion failed: (priv->poll == NULL)

2008-09-07 Thread Adam Buchbinder
Ah, Sebastian, I understand. Thanks.

The patched version has been running without this crash for the better
part of the day now, though, as I said, the bug is intermittent and
difficult to trigger. (I've had crashes, but those were all bug 256495.)
I'll continue using epiphany for everyday browsing (I'm running all
instances under gdb now), and report back immediately if I see a crash
in ga_client_start. Given that the crash happened at least once daily,
I'll consider it a fix if the browser doesn't die (from this bug) by
tonight. Does that sound reasonable? Should I set up a PPA for further
testing? I haven't done it before, but it looks reasonably
straightforward.
