Re: [Bug 281126] Re: Can't move window from one desk to another
I am not sure which effects you are referring to. One of the first changes that I made after installation ( at the beginning of this month from a disc supplied by the University of KZN) was to increase the number of workspaces from two to four. As four is the default number there would seem to be an error there. Also I suspect that the problem is that all the workspaces are numbered "1" so the dragging does not recognise that there is more than one workspace, even though all the workspaces are useable as normal. Apart from the wallpaper and screensaver, I can't think of any other changes that I have made On Sun, Oct 19, 2008 at 7:13 PM, Sebastien Bacher <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > do you use the desktop effects option? > > ** Changed in: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) >Importance: Undecided => Low > Assignee: (unassigned) => Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) > Status: New => Incomplete > > -- > Can't move window from one desk to another > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/281126 > You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber > of the bug. > > Status in "gnome-panel" source package in Ubuntu: Incomplete > > Bug description: > Binary package hint: openoffice.org > > Can't move window from one desk to another despite " clic to start > dragging" instruction. . Re: [Bug 228819] Re: nautilus desktop entry files doesn't update icon changes (affects avatar-factory)
* Is this reproducible? Yes. * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug? Assuming that your desktop folder is ~/Desktop Copy a picture to your desktop and name it "icon.png" At the command line type: echo "[Desktop Entry] Name=Some name Type=Link Icon=$HOME/Desktop/icon.png URL=file://$HOME" > $HOME/Desktop/test.desktop A new file should appear in your desktop with the picture you copied as its icon. Now, if you edit the picture or overwrite it, the file will not reflect the changes. That is no longer a problem for the avatar-factory music widget since I made some changes to it but it causes some other minor problems. The no name problem: gedit $HOME/Desktop/test.desktop Replace the second line: Name=Some name with: Name= Instead of showing nothing as in previous version it shows the full path. * Could you try on hardy or intrepid? When the system was boot up my partitions from my internal hard disk weren't shown on the desktop screen and also not in the filemaneger thunar or in the diractory /media. Only my external usb pen was shown. I therefore tested the live cd on my notebook where was the same problem. I installed anyway on the desktop pc in the hopeful it will be better after the installetion but it changed nothing. Then i tested the older live cd release Xubuntu 7.10 Gutsy gibbon and Ubuntu 8.04.1 on both pc's and there wasn't this problem. When i started GParted several times he could see the partitions and sometimes it said that it can't mount the other partitons. Then i wrote manually with the editor nano in the /etc/fstab file: /dev/sda1/media/C: ntfs rw,user,auto,exec,utf8 0 0 //it works only with auto . after a reboot in the diractory /media/C: were the partitions mounted afterwards i have made links on the desktop and thunar to the diractories but this way isn't elegant. ** Affects: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- internal partitions are not shown on desktop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/280386 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 285926] Re: Rhythmbox ignores Replaingain-Tag of OGGs
1) Yes, it is reproducible, Rhythmbox (and Totem) doesn't consider any ReplayGain tag in OGG-files, it plays them like if there were no tags 2) I will link 4 files with and without a ReplayGain tag, 2 files as MP3, one with and one without a tag. Same with two Ogg-files. If you play back all files, you will here a difference in the loundness between first and second MP3, but not between the OGGs. 3) ReplayGain analyses the loundness of audio files and corrects them reversible to a specific loundness. In the album-mode, it keeps relatively the differences between the songs of one album. The corrections are just saved in additional tags, and the player corrects it on the playback. [Bug 286158] [NEW] keyboard layout falls back to default when opening file manager or file dialog
Public bug reported: On Ubuntu intrepid (development branch), I have defined two alternate keyboard layouts: "Germany dead grave acute" and "English", with the german layout as default. Layout switching is set to "both shift keys together change layout", "separate layout for each window" is NOT selected. When switching between different windows, everything works fine (which means: the layout keeps the same whichever I selected before), but when creating a new file manager window (e.g. choosing "Places->Home Folder") the keyboard layout falls back to the "german" setting. The same applies if I choose some sort of "file->open" menu in an application which creates a file dialog. Further playing around with an already open file manager window does not change settings again, so it seems that it happens on creation of the window only. ** Affects: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: - On Ubuntu intrepid (development branch), I have defined to alternate + On Ubuntu intrepid (development branch), I have defined two alternate keyboard layouts: "Germany dead grave acute" and "English", with the german layout as default. [Bug 286127] [NEW] gnome-screensaver segfaults at login screen instead of giving back login screen
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver Hello, This bug may be the parent of #99647, #58963, #185554. All these reports (closed because of missing info) mention a failure when resuming. I face the same issue, but I think it's not at all suspend/resume related: I noticed the bug happens also when I simply check the "lock screen when screensaver is active". _What should happen_: in cases where the screensaver "end" returns to the login screen (i.e. after resuming or if the user configured it this way in the screensaver conf panel), moving the mouse / hitting a key should return the login screen. _What happens_: the screensaver runs, and as soon as I move the mouse or hit a key, the screen flickers a bit, and the screensaver continues to run (instead of returning to the login screen). See the attached file with the segfaults (from /var/log/syslog) and feel free to ask more info, I'll be tracking this bug closely. Intrepid uptodate as of october 19th. [Bug 61237] Re: Drag 'n Drop in list view doesn't work
>What's more, there's no "paste" when you right click anywhere in list view EXCEPT in the blank space BELOW the files if there is few items in the folder I think the problem is that a full selection (1st -> n'th columns selected) is strictly used in nautilus. It makes it difficult to get hold of right click actions like paste, create document, create folder etc, when in the "view as list" mode. I think, if a right click action happens on the "name" column then it should only show the actions present on the current selected folder/file in the context menu. If the right click happens on the other columns then it should show the actions that one would expect when right clicking in white space. Drag and drop senario should just work like it does when you drag and drop a folder into the bookmark panel: If the drag hovers directly over a bookmark it is considered a copy and if the drag hovers "in between" two bookmarks then you get a "line" indicator between the two to show that you are about to create a new bookmark in between. Therefore to keep things consistent just do the same when you drag a folder or file "in between" two folders (when in "View as List" mode.) -- Drag 'n Drop in list view doesn't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/61237 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Already looked in lauchpad bugs #224085 and #211760 and no help since I don't get any errors mentioned there and gconf has no usefree entry. formatting usb sticks (FAT16,FAT32,ext2/3) doesn't affect the problem. ** Affects: gnome-volume-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- USB automount lost on hardy upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/267151 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-volume-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 277243] Re: High load during audio playback
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 73744 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/73744 I doubt that this bug is a duplicate of bug #73744 since i clearly said, that it doesn't matter if i use alsa or pulseaudio. I know about bug #73744 and experienced the difference in hardy myself, but in hardy i could switch to alsa and the high load was gone... Also in bug #73744 the process pulseaudio itself causes high load, here the application playing sound... But the latest updates were helpfull.
