[Bug 299245] [NEW] Evolution: delete trash with IMAP crashes
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution I use a mail server (dovecot) in my home network (running on my Linksys NSLU2). I use 'evolution' as mail client on all of my machines. The mailbox is IMAP format. On one of my notebooks I have recently upgraded from hardy heron to intrepid ibex, i.e. evolution version 2.24.1.1. Whenever I select Datei/Müll leeren (file/empty trash), evolution instantly crashes without any messages. The e-mails in the trash folder don't get deleted, they survive this operation. In my preferences I have the option delete trash on exit checked. This also doesn't work - today I have realised that in total 1,599 e-mails had not been deleted after the upgrade to intrepid ibex. On my wife's notebook, running hardy heron and evolution 2.22.3.1, deleting e-mails from the trash works as expected. The e-mails are in fact gone after this operation, even when I open the trash folder on my notebook with the 2.24.1.1 version of evolution. This bug is reproducible. [Bug 299248] [NEW] Huge performance problem since update
Public bug reported: I was using the rhythmbox of Intrepid (with the fadeout lock bug). Yesterday, I've upgraded to 0.11.6svn20081008-0ubuntu4.2 from intrepid- update. Since then, Rhythmbox and pulseaudio are using together approximately 15% of the CPU. (+/- 10% for RB and 5% for pulseaudio). It was definitely not the case before the update. More : each time I do something on my computer (like changing tabs in my browser, opening a new window or a new gnome-terminal), the sound will become jerky and even stop for half a second. [Bug 108623] Re: totem isn't buffering correctly
I also encounter frequent network buffer loss in Totem. There are some interesting numbers to be found with the system monitor's Network graph. If I pause playback (so that the buffer can catch up!), download appears to cease entirely. It may be a related issue; most applications buffer more aggressively, while Totem seems almost ignorant of the need. The issue has been recently observed with the streams on this page: http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/startrek/ For me, though, it truly happens Everywhere! My Internet connection is reasonably stable so Totem should be able to predict how much it must download, but it does not. Marking bug as confirmed, because this makes at least three people reporting similar issues, and I have had the same issue myself on a number of different computers. [Bug 296075] Re: Gnome-Power-Manager hangs during general use
** Description changed: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager In the latest Ubuntu release, Intrepid Ibex, the Gnome Power Manager has a tedency to hang for a very long time when it enters the function do_nanosleep (as reported by Intel Powertop), showing generally unstable behavior. Moreover, gnome-power-manager also hangs when a battery is plugged in or out. Ironically, Powertop also notes that gnome-power-manager is the leading cause of battery life reducing interrupts when gnome-power-manager hangs itself. Solving the hang may therefore also help my battery life. Researching the problem on the internet, it seems this bug may be in the kernel, fixed by a patch to ACPI EC subsystem. This thread seems to indicate that these timer problems were solved in the latest kernel iteration. (http://groups.google.com/group/linux.kernel/browse_thread/thread/fed3c19cbe0c8cd5/ee1059771d00b247?lnk=raot) My laptop is the same model, an Acer Aspire One. Perhaps the ACPI EC patch could be backported to the current Ibex kernel. Gnome-Do, which also seems to sometimes enter do_nanosleep has a similar hanging problem, so that also might be related. I am using the latest Ubuntu release, Intrepid Ibex, with all the latest updates installed. + + UPDATE: It turns out that disabling display dimming seems to fix these + problems. Even though the display is now set not to dim, it dims + anyway, but at least the Power Manager no longer freezes. -- Gnome-Power-Manager hangs during general use https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296075 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

By this I mean that the video I left paused, is still open and at the correct position in the file, however, when I click play it jitters and plays extremely slowly in such a way it looks as though I am pressing the play and pause button really quickly. If I close totem and re-open the file then playback is as expected. This is not the file, as it will play perfectly fine strait though as long as I do not hibernate and resume. [Bug 298753] Re: evolution crashed when Calendar button was clicked.
Hi I'm a five day old user of Ubuntu 8.10. I've just recently activated Evolution. Late in the day today, I simply clicked on the Calendar icon which subsequently crashed Evolution. Repeated attempts to access Evolution's calendar produces the same results. I've read Sebastian's comments. I remain unsure how to enable apport. [Bug 290506] Re: cheese malfunctioning with UVCVIDEO webcams (was cheese doesn't show v4l2 video output and disables output on gstreamer-based apps ran afterwards)
Stefan, I had a similar problem with cheese and I was unable to record video although my webcam takes photos and also works with Skype flawlessly. So when I wrote to Filippo and Daniel Seigel (Cheese developers) they directed me to this bug report. I installed the following packages: linux-image-2.6.27-8, kernel-image-2.6.27-8 and kernel-image-2.6.27-8-generic. When I boot up with the new kernel, I immediately have a kernel panic. If you can tell me how I can save the output on the screen anywhere I'll do that, but from what I see, the CAPS lock simply blinks repeatedly and nothing works. Not even Ctrl-Alt-Del. I am forced to only power off the system. It says something like couldn't mount the file system. So I tried to install fs-core-modules-2.6.27-8-generic. This does not install complaining that it cannot overwrite the kernel object file and hence crashes. If I try to report the crash, crash reporter says that It is not a genuine Ubuntu version!!?? So the solution (kernel) proposed is not helping me. I guess this kernel package should not go into the next version of the kernel - unless I made some mistake and I have to install some other packages. What next? How do we fix the problem with cheese not recording properly? I can attach, lspci -vvn, and any other log files you ask for. Sorry, This is working perfectly fine. I cleaned everything and installed only the linux-image-2.6.27-8 and Cheese works like a dream. Thanks a lot Stefan. This must go into the next version for at least fixing the problems with Cheese. However, I am still worried. [Bug 241973] Re: Use oga (Ogg Vorbis, audio) as the default extension extension for adding music to collection
That would be classed as a bug with your hardware, perhaps a firmware update is required. The ogg standard now primarily uses .oga for audio, and .ogg is kept only for backwards compatibility, see http://wiki.xiph.org/index.php/MIME_Types_and_File_Extensions . I too have a hardware player that recognises .ogg and not .oga, so I keep my files as .ogg as well (for now). I believe it's more important to adhere to the standards rather than keep using .ogg indefinitely, just to keep some hardware players happy. I suspect only a fraction of users with .oga files will have .ogg hardware players, and those that do would probably be aware why an .oga file doesn't work. -- Use oga (Ogg Vorbis, audio) as the default extension extension for adding music to collection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/241973 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
