[Bug 264108] Re: Volume control sliders separate when dragged
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 126333 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/126333 Jixop: Yeah. The bugs that this has been marked duplicate of seems to have in common only the word erratic which, I guess, kind of has a little to do with this. But I am experiencing none of the behavior described in the other bugs; except of course the passing-by-mentioning of my behavior in #158590, which naturally leads me to believe the bugs are separate, but that the other reporters are experiencing multiple bugs and I just the channel separation one. I'm neither experiencing anything you described except for separation of the channel lock, upon which the locking icon turns into the 'unlinked' icon and remains as such. Mine never rejoin. Not to say it couldn't be related, just saying it might also be a separate issue. The fact that it happens less with Capture Mux might be because you're not using the Capture Mux when you try it (if I even understand what Capture Mux is), but you are using PCM/Master/etc when you try it. As I recall, the sliders are more inclined to separate when the sound module they control is being used at the moment. [Bug 307149] [NEW] gnome-open and gksudo -k gnome-open should open the same application
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libgnome2-0 This is on Ubuntu Intrepid (8.10), using version 2.24.1-0ubuntu4 of libgnome2-0. gnome-open opens a file with the application specified for the corresponding MIME type. This application can be changed by the user in Nautilus (right click, Properties, Open with). Such a change takes effect only for the respective user - thus, it won't affect e.g. root. This becomes problematic when a file should be opened with root privileges, via gksudo gnome-open. In this case, the default application (not necessarily the one specified by the invoking user) is started. While this behaviour is appropriate in general, there should be a way to explicitly, but automatically, open the user's preferred application. An easy way to achieve this would be to call gksudo -k gnome-open and have gnome-open look at the value of $HOME to decide whether to start the user-defined application or the global default for the MIME type in question. (The -k flag tells gksudo to preserve the environment of the invoking user. [Bug 307149] Re: gnome-open and gksudo -k gnome-open should open the same application
Thank you for your report, but this isn't a bug in libgnome. libglib / libgio does all the work for this, and it behaves as expected (it uses the current users preferences, which if you have launched it via sudo or gksu, will be the root user). I think you've misunderstood what the environment is when referring to gksu -k preserving the users environment. Your users environment does not include user settings (such as what applications handle which mimetypes), but the environment variables that are currently set. To view your users environment, just type env. I'm closing this bug, as what you've described is not a bug, and the application is behaving as expected. So I shared a music directory on a partition between Ubuntu and XP. For each sub-directory, Windows creates an hidden (for XP) file Thumbs.db (a kind of thumbnail, I suppose). At each synchronization of the music directory, Rhythmbox notices me a warning for each thumbs.db because it can't recognize their MIME type: Le type MIME du fichier n'a pu être reconnu in french... Something like : MIME type hasn't be recognized in English. The same warnings are given for text files (*.txt in Windows) and Itunes files (*.itl *.itdb in Windows). It causes no problem for using Rhythmbox, but I think a lot of newbies could find it frightening to got so many warnings. These errors couldn't be ignored? Re: [Bug 307149] Re: gnome-open and gksudo -k gnome-open should open the same application
Dear Chris, thanks for your answer. While your arguments for why the issue should not be considered a bug are convincing, I still believe that there should be a feature that solves the problem I described (i.e. open a file with root privileges, but with the user-defined application). I knew that gksu -k only refers to the environment variables. However, if $HOME is set to the user's home, doesn't it make sense to use the MIME applications specified there (in ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list)? For me, the question seems to be whether it's better to find the right application by looking at (e.g.) $USER or at $HOME - but since I don't know the internals of gnome-open, I might be completely off there. If this is not a bug, do you think it would make sense to submit a feature request for an open with the user-local application option in gnome-open? [Bug 307215] [NEW] Malformed anchor links when exporting linked notes to HTML
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: tomboy This bug is actually result of a really useful feature of Tomboy: that links are not capitalization-dependent. If you have a note named Cool Tomboy Note and in a second note you type in cool tomboy note, the phrase will become a link to the first note. However when you export a note with all linked notes to HTML (using the Export to HTML addin), the note-to-note links generated in the HTML page don't link correctly when the capitalization of the link is not the same as the capitalization as the anchor. Example: a href=#cool tomboy notecool tomboy note/a a name=Cool Tomboy NoteCool Tomboy Note/a As a fix, I'd suggest that all links generated in the output HTML file are made uniformly lower-case. Re: [Bug 275046] Re: gnome-sound-recorder does not capture sound properly (static click sounds)
Gnome-sound-recorder uses gstreamer for everyting, according to what it depends on at least. If you can, I'd try and use another gstreamer based application, such as a CD ripper for example, and see what happens when you create og files when ripping CDs, or using jokosher to record, anything that uses gstreamer and ogg. [Bug 293883] Re: 8.10 Printed PDF missing parts / corrupt
This bug has been fixed in libcairo trunk by this commit : 3c18d95b293eddaa25232bc06398c78bc8043cb4 Compute device_transform_inverse. However, patching 1.8.0 libcairo with the patch from this commit is not enough, that probably means that this is only a part of the fix and that another commit holds the missing part of the puzzle. I wonder how to find the fix at this point.
