[Bug 34247] Re: Trash always empty.

2009-04-12 Thread muhalifsirin
I have a similar issue here on Jaunty. i did not have it till yesterday,
but today, I got the problem.

When I delete something on my home folder, I can not see them in
trash(trash:///), but when I check ~/.local/share/Trash/files I see
those deleted files appear there.

This is a really annoying bug,Trash is a simple function that any
convenient OS must offer without hassle. It is strange in three years
this issue has not been solved and no solution or work around is
offered.

[Bug 34247] Re: Trash always empty.

2009-04-12 Thread muhalifsirin
Ok, now it is getting worse. Nautilus tells me that my trash folder is
empty (not trash:///, which always look empty- I am talking about
~/.local/share/Trash/files)

But then I check it form terminal and I see it is not empty. Moreover
bautilus itself tells me that folder is 300 mb(but magically contains no
files!!!). This is really driving me crazy now.

[Bug 34247] Re: Trash always empty.

2009-04-12 Thread muhalifsirin
So here is I reproduce this bug:

1-Delete an item, (use delete key, drag and drop an item into a trash
icon-desktop-applet..etc, or drag and drop the item into an open trash:///
folder ; does not matter)
2- Item disappears
3-But the trash folder still (trash:///) looks empty
4-Search for the deleted item via PlacesSearch from the menu
5-You find the item in ~/.local/share/Trash/files (not surprisingly)
6-Check the specified folder using Nautilus, but it looks empty
7-Check it using Terminal, it is not empty. Also Nautilus itself tells you that
the folder is not zero bytes, it is 300 mbs(I checked the folder for hidden
items as well)

[Bug 34247] Re: Trash always empty.

2009-04-12 Thread muhalifsirin
OK

I guess this problem has something to do with mac4lin project (the thing
that makes ubuntu look like a mac). I realized i had this problem after
I installed that theme. It has this .sh file that automates everything,
maybe that was the problem,.

One more weird thing, when gnome-do works in docky mode,the trash app on
the dock works OK. But rest is still broken.

I am updating my steps for reproducing the error, and also attaching the
.sh file for installing mac theme to ubuntu:

0-Download mac4lin theme package for ubuntu from
http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?group_id=204373filename=Mac4Lin_v1.0_RC1.tar.gza=17712471

and run the .sh file to install it
Then proceed as follows to test trash:
1-Delete an item , (use delete key, drag and drop an item into a trash
icon-desktop-applet..etc, or drag and drop the item into an open trash:///
folder ; does not matter)
2- Item disappears
3-But the trash folder still (trash:///) looks empty
4-Search for the deleted item via PlacesSearch from the menu
5-You find the item in ~/.local/share/Trash/files (not surprisingly)
6-Check the specified folder using Nautilus, but it looks empty
7-Check it using Terminal, it is not empty. Also Nautilus itself tells you that
the folder is not zero bytes, it is 300 mbs(I checked the folder for hidden
items as well)
8-Gnome-do's trash app works fine in docky mode

[Bug 359916] [NEW] After suspend gvfsd-smb hogs all cpu time

2009-04-12 Thread Roland Arendes
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gvfs-backends

I've installed current 9.04 on a Centrino Lifebook S7020D, everything
works nice so far.

But if any SMB connections are alive when I suspend the notebook, after
resume the process gvfsd-smb would infinite loop and suck all cpu. The
windows listing contents of those smb connections shade grey and
disappear sometimes. Totem, which was playing a movie before I suspended
the laptop, turns grey too.

I would guess that gvfsd-smb doesn't proper re-init the smb connection
to the host after resume.

[Bug 346648] Re: [patch] Develop in UFRaw won't work in Dutch locale, because of escaping problems

I know the patch is a bit dirty, as it just adds another special case
while it should use a generic escape everything method from somewhere.
However, I don't know the C# standard library well (or at all) and I

programs in Ubuntu.

[Bug 359916] Re: After suspend gvfsd-smb hogs all cpu time

2009-04-12 Thread Roland Arendes
Ah, I forgot to say that this only happens if the laptop is suspended
for some time, perhaps to let the smb host timeout the connection and
close the handle in the meanwhile.

The totem player was paused before suspending the laptop. After resume,
it played a few seconds (perhaps cache somewhere) and then it freezes.

[Bug 359933] [NEW] Logout dialog does not offer option to only log out

2009-04-12 Thread Øyvind Stegard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

When invoking the Gnome panel logout dialog by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del
(default Logout action keyboard shortcut), it does *not* actually
offer the option to only log out and end the session.

The available options are:
* Turn off computer
* Restart computer
* Suspend
* Hibernate

[Bug 359933] Re: Logout dialog does not offer option to only log out

2009-04-12 Thread Øyvind Stegard
Yes, sorry, the dialog belongs to gnome-session.

I'd like to point out a minor inconsistency with this change:
When configuring keyboard shortcuts using gnome-keybinding-properties, the
associated action for Ctrl+Alt+Del is labeled Logout. This is no longer true,
since this action does not offer the option to log out. It should be renamed to
something else, like Shutdown. I'll report this as a new bug.

[Bug 359961] [NEW] Logout action in gnome-keybinding-properties cannot be used to log out

The Log out action in gnome-keybinding-properties will not actually
allow user to log out. It will only bring up a dialog (from gnome-

[Bug 359975] [NEW] evince sometimes yield error Error printing: Too many failed attempts

2009-04-12 Thread Arie Skliarouk
Public bug reported:

After couple (two, three or four) successful printouts, evince stops printing
and shows following error message:
Error printing: Too many failed attempts

Once the error is triggered, restart of cupsys does not help, whereas
logout and login again allows couple more printouts from evince to
succeed. It is interesting that the error is apparently triggered by
printing single pages from a multipage PDF document.

The bug is pretty reminicent of bug

but I am not sure they are related.

[Bug 122531] Re: rhythmbox crashes on start with ipod

2009-04-12 Thread GreenToad
I have exactly the same issue as fricot and checked the source of
libgpod, here is the problematic fragment:

   85 db_parse_context_set_total_len (DBParseContext *ctx, off_t len)
   86 {
   87 /* FIXME: this can probably happen in malformed itunesdb files,
   88* don't g_assert on this, only output a warning
   89*/
   90   g_assert ((ctx-cur_pos - ctx-buffer) = len);
   91   if (ctx-header_len != 0) {
   92   g_assert (len = ctx-header_len);
   93   }
   94   ctx-total_len = len;
   95 }

It seems fricot that reseting our ipods should do the trick becasue
itunesdb on them is corrupted. I'll checj if this works.

libgpod is used by rhythmbox, gtkpod and amarok so all of them will have
the same problem.

[Bug 34547] Re: Ubuntu theme breaks notifications when attached to a bottom panel

2009-04-12 Thread Arunas Radzvilavicius
The similar bug seems to be present in Xubuntu Jaunty beta. Notification
bubble, pointing to network manager icon is clearly rendered incorrectly (see
screenshot).
Notification-daemon version: 0.4.0-0.ubuntu3 .
(After some experiments with pynotify I realised, what notification bubble is
rendered incorrectly only after it is updated with
pynotify.Notification.update() and only when it is pointing down).

[Bug 359598] Re: perro

2009-04-12 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your
report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can
better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it.

Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For
help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally,
in the report please include:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System -
About Ubuntu.
2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by
checking in Synaptic.
3) What happened and what you expected to happen.

The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide
variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures .
Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make
your bug report much more complete. Thanks!

[Bug 359452] Re: error updated

2009-04-12 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Your bug report is more likely to get attention if it is made in
English, since this is the language understood by the majority of Ubuntu
developers. Additionally, please only mark a bug as security if it
shows evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries or to
directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any
other bugs you may find.

2009-04-12 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

The gnome volume control (that works with media keys) changes too fast when the

[Bug 360080] [NEW] totem-gstreamer does not show subtitles for ogg files

2009-04-12 Thread LCID Fire
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

I have an ogg file and subtitles (srt) for that file. When I try to play both
in totem it complains:
An error occurred
GstPlayBin: A subtitle stream was detected, but no video stream.
On difficult song texts and karaoke song subtitles make a lot of sense though.
I'm on jaunty.

[Bug 359975] Re: evince sometimes yield error Error printing: Too many failed attempts

Forgot to specify version numbers (Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 Beta):
libgtk2.0-0   2.16.0-1ubuntu8
cups 1.3.9-17

I would say the issue is serious one, as it prevents evince to always
print PDF documents.

[Bug 49567] Re: list view doesn't expand subfolder when clicking on arrow if entry is selected

2009-04-12 Thread nh2
Confirmed in Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04.

This is _extremely_ annoying if you want to navigate quitckly in your
files. You found that folder by search that folder and you just cannot
enter it; on click, everything moves down because the first directory is
expanded.

I think this bug can be fixed easily by not expanding the old active
column (no idea why this is the first one) but just that column we
clicked the arrow in.

[Bug 360114] [NEW] [Jaunty] gdmsetup and aplay plays all ogg sound files as loud static

2009-04-12 Thread komputes
Public bug reported:

Tested on:
alsa-utils 1.0.18-1ubuntu11
gdm 2.20.10-0ubuntu2
ubuntu 9.04 jaunty beta 32  64-bit
Hardware: nforce2 SiS AC'97 (not hardware specific)

Description:
gdmsetup and aplay plays all ogg sound files as loud static. File has been
verified and works in other applications. WAV files work in gdmsetup. Please
check that the ogg file is not being played with the wrong program (i.e.
aplay). When opening an ogg with aplay, the same static is produced.

Steps to reproduce:
-Turn your speakers down as to not be surprised
-On Jaunty go to System Administration Login window (spawns
/usr/sbin/gdmsetup)
-Go to the Accessibility tab
-Select any login sound which is an .ogg file (example:
/usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/stereo/bell.ogg)
-Press the play button

OR

-Turn your speakers down as to not be surprised
-Run the following command:
$ aplay /usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/stereo/bell.ogg

What happens?:
gdm/aplay plays ogg file as loud static

What is expected?:
