[Bug 1423182] Re: Gnome-flashback: No (easy) way to log out
If "default" means the first thing I see when I install the "fallback" desktop, then the "default" configuration does not have a way to log out. Several minutes of googling tells me I can use gnome-session-quit in the terminal. OK, I can memorize that... but I would not call this "easily usable" and certainly not by non-skilled users. I also tried to google for how to install indicator-applet, and found that there are a dozen to choose from. I tried to find how to manually add User Menu / Shutdown applets to the panel, and couldn't find it. As a new Ubuntu user, I want a system that is easy to log out from, and this is not that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1423182 Title: Gnome-flashback: No (easy) way to log out To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/1423182/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1251281] Re: gnome-session-flashback/Unity fails to start without hardware acceleration in cloud/remote environments (Forwarded-X/XRDP/VNC/NX/X2GO/Chromoting)
gnome-session was aborting if acceleration check failed. This bug was about fixing it so it is possible to bypass this check. Bypassing this check allows gnome-session to start. You need to use session that does not require hardware acceleration, but from you comment - you are using. As Ryan already told - you need to get and paste log file to find why session does not fully start. lightdm and other display manager are setting environment variables - this might be your problem. One thing you could try is to add this line before /usr/bin/gnome-session line: export XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP="Unity" Then you will need also this line: export XDG_MENU_PREFIX="gnome-flashback-" Also you could add --debug to gnome-session line as it might show some info why needed components are not started. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1251281 Title: gnome-session-flashback/Unity fails to start without hardware acceleration in cloud/remote environments (Forwarded-X/XRDP/VNC/NX/X2GO/Chromoting) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-session/+bug/1251281/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
Re: [Bug 1440275] Re: Ubuntu GNOME only allows regional format setting for US, UK, Canada, Australia, and NZ
Yes, I did. I even removed Korean language pack and reinstalled it to see if the reinstallation makes the choice of regions available, but it still shows limited choice of British Commonwealth countries and the US. As you probably know, I don't need to install language pack separately, since when you set the locale to Korean, the system automatically downloads all the necessary language packs. So far no flavors of Ubuntu 15.04 cause the same issue but Ubuntu GNOME. (I even tried Fedora 22 alpha 1 and it did not have such an issue.) I found this issue about three weeks ago. I hoped the issue is gone after the RC version is released, but it is still there. Like I said, I will fresh install the 15.04 on another machine after tomorrow's release to see if the issue is gone. 2015-04-22 18:10 GMT-04:00 Tim : > This still sounds like you are missing the langpacks > Run language-selector, click the "Install/Remove Languages" button, does > it show Korean is installed? > > -- > You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug > report. > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1440275 > > Title: > Ubuntu GNOME only allows regional format setting for US, UK, Canada, > Australia, and NZ > > Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu: > New > > Bug description: > I installed Ubuntu GNOME 15.04 Beta 2. [Bug 795901] Re: Cannot log into Unity, Gnome. Cannot launch GTK apps
I'm having a similar problem in Trusty, but Gnome has been saving me for now as it's the only option that works at login. After logging into Unity all I get is the wallpaper and cursor. It started while running 14.10 and the machine simply shut down while I was on Steam. I've searched a bit and other people with the same issue said it came up after upgrading from 14.04 to 14.10. I had updated for a while with no issues. They've mentioned something related to plymouth and graphics. [Bug 1447282] [NEW] Prompted for cryptoswap passphrase when using GPT partitioning + encrypted home directory (ecryptfs)
Public bug reported: I'm still sorting out the details and eliminating variables, but as far as I can tell: Steps to reproduce === 1) Install Ubuntu using GPT partitioning for the OS drive[*] 2) Choose "require my password to login", and check "encrypt my home directory" Expected behavior === No special user interaction should be required to initialized the crytposwap other than normally logging in Actual behavior Prior to lightdm coming up, you will be prompted to enter your passphrase to unlock the cryptoswap, similar to how you would be prompted to unlock the OS drive when using full disk encryption (see attached photo). When lightdm comes up, you have to enter your password/passphrase again to login. Work-arounds === 1) This only seems to happen when using GTP partitioning, not MBR... so use MBR if you can 2) Even with GTP partitioning, booting with init=/sbin/upstart seems to reliably fix the problem, so it certainly seems systemd related Notes = * As far as I can tell, there isn't a way to force Ubiquity to create a GPT partition table when the OS drive is < 2TB, but it will automatically use GPT partitioning when the OS drive is >= 2TB. [Bug 1447224] [NEW] Regression: Unable to select audio or subtitle tracks
Public bug reported: After upgrading to Ubuntu 15.04 neither Totem nor VLC are able to select different audio tracks or subtitles when playing videos with multiple tracks. This is a regression from Ubuntu 14.10 where playback of such files was working as expected. I tried this on multiple machines running 15.04 and with various media, mostly MKV videos but also AVI videos or simply DVDs. [Bug 1440275] [NEW] Ubuntu GNOME only allows regional format setting for US, UK, Canada, Australia, and NZ
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I installed Ubuntu GNOME 15.04 Beta 2. I set the system locale to Korean language, which worked okay. When I tried to set regional format (date, time, currency, number, metric, etc.), however, the options are only limited to 5 regions: US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand. I do live in the US, but I want to set the regional format in Korean because that goes with the system language. I currently set the regional format to that of Canada because I am not familiar with US system of yards, feet and pounds. As you can see in the attached screenshot, the date format shown on the middle of the task bar is a mixture of English and Korean (Frankenstein-ish). As I browsed through the bug report launchpad site, I found this bug has a long history which dates back to Ubuntu version 9.04. I have installed Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 LTS on my other computer and it does not have the same bug. I guess it has something to do with the newly introduced "systemd"? I would very much like to see this bug is fixed ASAP (at least before the release of 15.04 proper version). I love GNOME interface, but this bug annoys me.
