[Bug 1987409] Re: All open applications close after "screen blank" in Ubuntu 22.04 using Wayland
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1987409 Title: All open applications close after "screen blank" in Ubuntu 22.04 using Wayland To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1987409/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1948881] Re: XSane plugin not available in GIMP File menu
I tried to compile xsane from the latest GitLab master sources: the gimp plugin works, but then xsane crashes with a memory allocation error, at least with my scanner (maybe it's this issue: https://gitlab.com/sane-project/frontend/xsane/-/issues/44). [Bug 1987225] [NEW] I open tweaks, set my icons to Breathe. Then I go to settings for something and my icons are rest to default icons
You have been subscribed to a public bug: This started happening after my upgrade from Ubuntu 20.04 to Ubuntu 22.04 I open tweaks, set my icons to a custom theme. Then I go to settings > appearanace to adjust dock icon size and my dock and Desktop icons are reset to default icons. This happens every time I open settings>appearance. It overrides gnome-tweaks icon settings. I expected to be able to change the dock icon size without my icon theme being changed and my icon settings to stay as I had set them in Tweaks. I can reset the icon theme in Tweaks and they stay set after reboot. Then if I open settings again and use appearance feature of any kind my Tweaks icon settings revert to Yaru. I have seen many references to this bug on Google. It is annoying to many Ubuntu users! I am getting very similar results to a bug in: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1987209 About my system (from About menu in Settings) - Dell OptiPlex 3050 - 32 GB RAM - Intel® Core™ i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz × 8 - AMD® Radeon rx 550 / 550 series / Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 630 (KBL GT2) - GNOME Version: 42.2 Monitors being used: - Dell U2211Ht 22" - Acer G226HQL 22" - LG 32MA68HY 27" I have reproduced this error by setting the 'Screen Blank' setting to 1 minute (just so I don't have to wait very long), then waiting for the system to enter the screen blank state. The following then happens. 1. Everything seems to be fading out as normal 2. Screens no longer have data that needs to be displayed, they go into sleep mode 3. After a brief period, screens are forced back on (where when this problem isn't happening, screens will remain in sleep mode until input provided by user) 4. System displays the dark login screen as if I was never logged in. 5. After signing in, all my open applications have been closed. I have managed to circumvent this issue by choosing the option 'Ubuntu on xorg' before signing in, or by uncommenting the line #WaylandEnable=false in /etc/gdm3/custom.conf. I then repeat the test described above after using either of these methods and my session is saved, no issues. I have attached my own results that I found after a 'journalctl -b0'. [Bug 1987406] [NEW] No duplex scan - only frontage is scanned
Public bug reported: Hi, I'm on Linux Mint 21 Vanessa and they are using the sane-airscan package from Ubuntu as well. Current version on my system is 0.99.27-1build1. My printer is recognized as follows: airscan-discover [devices] Brother ADS-2400N = http://192.168.xxx.xxx:80/WebServices/ScannerService, WSD It is connected via LAN to a WiFi access point in my home network. Before the system upgrade to the new Mint Version everything was OK and I remember there was a different driver structure for remote devices. When running a duplex scan in scanimage or GUI applications like simple- scan now, all pages go through the automatic feed. But then, only the front pages are visible in the output. Duplex scanning works again since removing sane-airscan, manually installing drivers from the Brother homepage and adding the device with brsaneconfig. ** Affects: sane-airscan (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to sane-airscan in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1987406 Title: No duplex scan - only frontage is scanned To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-airscan/+bug/1987406/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1987228] Re: Bug display when turning to hibernation
The bug doesn't happen again, so I can't verify. But I think it was the login screen. I suspect Google Chrome to be the source of the problem because it was open when I had the problem. And every time I run it there are little display glitches and bugs. [Bug 1948881] Re: XSane plugin not available in GIMP File menu
I can confirm / repeat that this issue affects 22.04(.1)LTS, and I don't think that LTS people will want to wait for 24.04LTS before they can use their scanners directly from GIMP! There seem to have been a lot of GIMP-related commits to xsane since 0.999, so it is unclear to me how easy it would be to create a single patch to fix the issue in U22.04's current sources. It might be better to start again from a more recent copy of the xsane sources, whilst addressing comment #16 about the EULA. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gimp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1948881 Title: XSane plugin not available in GIMP File menu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gimp/+bug/1948881/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1987162] Re: 43: New Device Security feature is confusing and unhelpful currently
I think the whole concept of numeric security "levels" is wrong. Instead there should be a list of threats: - physical (address by using LUKS, disabling USB ports, locking screen after N minutes inactivity, etc) - bad apps (address by enabling AppArmor or SELinux etc, using Snaps or Flatpaks, using fewer PPAs, doing updates, etc) - OS vulns (address by doing updates) - network attacks (address by enabling firewall on computer, enabling firewall in router, turning off unused services, blockers in browser, etc) - user mistakes (address by not running as root, using immutable OS, etc) And I would lump in some partially-security things too: - data loss due to hardware failure or user error (backups: suggest TimeShift etc) - network security/privacy attacks (suggest VPN) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1987162 Title: 43: New Device Security feature is confusing and unhelpful currently To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1987162/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
