[Bug 324370] [NEW] Evolution does not show all Items in Exchange Folder Inbox

2009-02-02 Thread markus
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

An old view of the Exchange Inbox Folder is shown. When a new item
arrives, info about the unread mail is shown next to the folder name -
e.g. Posteingang (1), but the item is not shown in the list.

Seems to be a caching problem, when i deleted the cache folder in

/home/username/.evolution/exchange/account-
name/personal/subfolders/Posteingang

The view was displayed correctly.

[Bug 291259] Re: smb:// URI's do not work

2009-01-10 Thread Bux Markus
Ok. the above one is the dirty and quick way, which will do the job.

I have attached a schema file, which will create all needed entries
under schema an associate it with the values in /desktop/gnome/...

The schema file will only install the de, en_CA, en_GB and C localization. The
other ones i do not know. ;)
BTW: The file will install fine on any system with other languages but the
description will only be displayed in english. So maybe you can add your
description to the file bevor installing it. ;)

Download the attached file to your desktop and run the following command
in an terminal with user rights!

gconftool-2 --install-schema-file=~/Desktop/smb_handler.schemas

After that you can test the success of the installation by running the
following commands as user

1) gconftool-2 --get-schema-name /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/smb/command
This schould return /schemas/desktop/gnome/url-handlers/smb/command

2)gconftool-2 --get /schemas/desktop/gnome/url-handlers/smb/command
Typ: string
Listentyp: *invalid*
car-Typ: *invalid*
cdr-Typ: *invalid*
Vorgabewert: nautilus %s
Besitzer: gnome
Kurzbeschr.: Zu verwendendes Thema
Ausführliche Beschr.: Der Dateiname des zu verwendenden Themas.

So thats it. Start gconf-editor and verify the values.

2009-01-09 Thread Bux Markus
Ok. I've found a solution. :D

The problem is, that there is no uri-handler for smb.
If you run the followoing commands as user under gnome-terminal it will work
again. ;)

gconftool-2 -t string -s /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/smb/command nautilus

gconftool-2 -t bool -s /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/smb/needs_terminal false
gconftool-2 -t bool -s /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/smb/enabled true

[Bug 298385] [NEW] Reflow terminal contents when resizing the window

2008-11-15 Thread Markus Amalthea Magnuson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

Currently, if I resize a terminal window with text content that wraps, the text
block size stays. The reason for resizing a terminal window with wrapping
content is 99% of the time because I want to reflow the text, to which the only
solution now is to rerun the last command, possibly with different results (=
useless).

See corresponding gnome bug report for more info.

[Bug 298397] [NEW] Remove preferences for scrollbar placement and/or disabling

2008-11-15 Thread Markus Amalthea Magnuson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

Is it just me, or is it complete usability madness to allow moving the
scrollbar to the left side of the window? Also, allowing to disable it
altogether seems equally non-standard.

What is the rationale for this behaviour?

My suggestion is to put the scrollbar on the right side, and removing
all such preferences. And it should only be visible when needed, as in
most other text fields in most other applications.

One important note: I only can reproduce this bug if ALSA is selected for

[Bug 258949] [NEW] List/icon view setting should be per window, not per folder

2008-08-17 Thread Markus Amalthea Magnuson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I find it kind of irritating that the list/icon view setting is per
folder in nautilus. If I want to browse a deep folder structure that I
have never visited before in list mode (or icon mode) I have to change
view mode for each new folder I double-click on, since the all open in
the default view mode. I should only have to set this once for the
current window, and it should be used for every new folder I open in the
same window.

What is the rationale for the current design? I am sure this has been
discussed before, and I am happy for any references to such earlier
discussions.

[Bug 252487] [NEW] Additional field Start tracknumber in GUI

2008-07-28 Thread Markus Drexelius
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: sound-juicer

The tracknumbers starts with number 1 for each CD that I insert. When
ripping multiple disk volumes (e.g. audiobooks) it would be very helpful
to change starting the numbering with a number other then 1.

I suggest to implement an additional field Start track number in the
GUI where the user can enter the number of the first track. Sound-juicer
than increases the number by 1 for each following track.

The feature disc number seems not to work with any mp3 player, e.g.
samsung YP-K3 doesn't sort the tracks with multiple discs in the right
order, so it seem, that it doesn't use the tag discnumber in a correct
way.

[Bug 252487] Re: Additional field Start tracknumber in GUI

2008-07-28 Thread Markus Drexelius
My intention is not to obligatory implement it in the main window, but
to implement this feature in general to sound-juicer (in which place /
dialogue box is another question).

It is a great feature of the MS windows based cdex software,
escpecially for ripping audiobooks that's popularity increasing more and
more. But this software is only available for windows.

There is no real reliable solution to rip audio books with sound juicer
to play audiobooks in a right way on mp3 players, so I have to fallback
continously to windows (what is a horror for me ;-)

So, you think I have to open an additional bug-report at gnome bugzilla?

[Bug 252459] [NEW] discnumber isn't added to mp3 file

2008-07-27 Thread Markus Drexelius
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: sound-juicer

I am using sound-juicer to convert an audiobook consisting of 9 cd's to
mp3. So I used the field CD to add the id3 tag disc number to the
mp3 files, but it works only for the first cd. There sound-juicer has
add the disc number tag correctly. But for the cd's 2 to 9 there has no
disc number tag been add to the files.

[Bug 250265] [NEW] Simplifying transfer to Musicbrainz for a new release

It is a little bit annoying to feed musicbrainz with a new release that
is'n available in musicbrainz. When I have entered the track numbers,

2008-05-25 Thread Markus Drexelius
Public bug reported:

After a while many directories in the home directory (not all) disappear and
are no longer visible in nautilus. When I open a shell, are directories are

[Bug 234794] Re: Directories disappear in nautilus, after reboot they are back again

2008-05-25 Thread Markus Drexelius
I am not sure, when exactly the problem occurs and it isn't really
reproducable. The last time it happened when the computer run a while
and I logged in. My home directory is affected by the problem: some
directories are visible, many others doesn't exist any longer in
nautilus. I tried everything: logout and login again, refreshing the
file lists and so on. But only a complete reboot solved the problem (for
a while).

The affected partition is a reiserfs-partition. Because of the fact that
all directory were shown in a command shell and not in nautilus I
reasoned that's maybe a problem of nautilus...

Sorry, what's a stock configuration?

The problem occurs since upgrading from ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04. I hadn't
any problems before.

[Bug 3667] Re: multipage (2 pages to 1) print function not working

2008-05-03 Thread Markus Drexelius
I have the same problem with ubuntu 8.04: I cannot print 2 pages on 1.
It prints still 1 complete page. Is there any solution? It would be nice
too, to enable this feature in the gnome printing dialog. This isn't
possible in the moment, so I have to enter the printer setup and change
the default settings. I know this feature from Windows: there you can
enable it via the printing dialog in each application as a per job
setting.

[Bug 150193] Re: Remote Login via XDMCP is not working in Ubuntu Gusty/7.10

2008-05-02 Thread Markus Drexelius
I have updated to Ubuntu 8.04 in the hope, that this problem is fixed in the
new release, but the problem still exists: I cannot connect to another machine
in my local LAN, both now running ubuntu 8.04. I will get only a black screen
and it doesn't work. The discussions about the bug are a little bit confusing.
Has the reason for the bug been found? Changing the session manager to KDM is
not really helpful, because some essential functions of the ubuntu gnome
desktop doesn't work with kdm (e.g. switching the user).
When will the bug be fixed? Thanks a lot.

[Bug 206439] Re: smb password protected share cannot be accessed

2008-04-25 Thread Markus Eisenstoeck
I can confirm this too with password protected samba shares.

Nautlius does not ask for credentials.

gvfs-mount does, but the created share does not work.
funny thing is when using the IP number instead of the host name, everything
works as expected (nautilus and gvfs-mount). In this case credentials are asked
and used.

e.g. smb://media/music works not, smb://192.168.0.4/music works.

hope this helps.

[Bug 179512] Re: new Google Calendar read/write feature doesnt work (at least for germany - (because: googlemail.com instead gmail.com)

2008-01-02 Thread Markus Majer
Because I didn't get an answer, I followed the way I expect a Ubuntu developer
would go, and got an answer from the Evolution Team:
This has been fixed in SVN already and will be included in the 2.21.5 release.

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=506580

So this bug report is all other than INCOMPLETE! I looked if it could
be, not just meaning sth. like this cannot be, the problem is sitting
in front of the monitor! :(

So my question is: Will you deliver 2.21.5 to fix the bug or will you
deliver the actual version, with the bug, in Ubuntu 8.04?

Don't forget, this will be a LTS version, and second, the mail client is
a really viable part of the distribution.

So take the user bug reports with care or they make their own thought
about it..

[Bug 179512] new Google Calendar read/write feature doesnt work (at least for germany - (because: googlemail.com instead gmail.com)

2007-12-31 Thread Markus Majer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

In the version of Evolution included right now in the upcoming Ubuntu
8.04, Hardy Heron, there is a bug which makes it impossible to use this
in germany.

Because of legal issues german users get a @googlemail.com adress, while
people from other countries get a @gmail.com adress..

That the bug is about this issue, I recognized looking at the status bar while
trying a connection.
I attached a screenshot where you can see both my Google Calendar Account and
Evolution.

It ends up in [EMAIL PROTECTED]@gmail.com or, if I would leave the domain, in
[EMAIL PROTECTED] :(
To work, it should only be [EMAIL PROTECTED]..

Sad, that the plugin doesnt work for me - I personally know have to use
the Google Data Provider Plugin of Thunderbird + Lightning, again -
until I recognize I can switch over to Evolution!

Thats sad, because we use the Google Calendar here extensively, and if
Evolution could to this, I could finally get my coworkers to switch over
to the default Ubuntu distribution completely.

[Bug 179512] Re: new Google Calendar read/write feature doesnt work (at least for germany - (because: googlemail.com instead gmail.com)

2007-12-31 Thread Markus Majer
If I can provide some further information - log files, screen shots, etc. - on
this problem, I will do, just tell me what you need and I will send it.
Altough I use Thunderbird as long as it not works, I would be happy to use
Evolution because its the default mail client in ubuntu and has better desktop
integration.
Is there a possibility to forward this bug reports to [EMAIL PROTECTED] ?
Thats the maintainer of the feature which makes the problems.

[Bug 179512] Re: new Google Calendar read/write feature doesnt work (at least for germany - (because: googlemail.com instead gmail.com)

2007-12-31 Thread Markus Majer
But it doesn't - I thought about that also, but both alternative tries didn't
work!
I think it works if someone sends a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] for convinience -
but for other stuff it only works with the exact account name with which the
Calendar was registered.

I tried all of that, so I can also say that it definitely DO NOT work
like you suggested.

I also filed the bug to the maintainer of this evolution feature, Ebby
Wiselyn, in her blog.

I can use Thunderbird + Lightning + Google Data Provider until it works
- so after all I want to tell you that don't fixing the bug will exclude
a large group of ubuntu users from that feature (german ubuntu users are
a real big group in ubuntu, and really many of them have Google
Accounts, with @googlemail.com instead @gmail.com for primary definite
account name)

[Bug 179550] Rhythmbox can't import some of Sound Juicers Ogg-extractions

2007-12-31 Thread Markus Thielmann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

1) Install a new (and unmodified) version of Ubuntu 7.10 and do a full update
(it's a german installation, if that matters)
2) Import a few cd's using Sound Juicers extraction feature
3) Start Rhythmbox and set it to monitor your music directory

Rhythmbox now failes on half of the files. rhythmbox -d says (e.g.):

(15:11:16) [0x899e718] [make_access_failed_error] rhythmdb.c:548: got
error on
file:///home/test/Musik/Tostedt%20Community%20Gospel%20Choir/Rivers%20of%20Joy/12%20-%20Going%20Up%20Yonder.ogg:

file:///home/test/Musik/Tostedt%20Community%20Gospel%20Choir/Rivers%20of%20Joy/12%20-%20Going%20Up%20Yonder.ogg
nicht möglich: Datei nicht gefunden

So basicly it says Rhythmbox can't find the given file. If I copy the
URL, Totem just opens it and plays fine.

The selection of bad files seems quite randomly, I can't find any
pattern in rhythmbox selection.

[Bug 29622] Re: Many web browsers not print the headers and footers.

2007-10-20 Thread Markus
I had the same issue and the value 0.5 do not work to me. The Print
Setup dialogue mentions that these values are in mm. i.e. 0.5 mm from
the top is very, very small. After I changed the values to 5.0 for both
the header and footer are back again. Is there an issue between
measurements (US vs metric)?

[Bug 145492] Re: gnome-gettings-daemon crashes on login

I had the same issue.

I did a 'sudo aptitude --purge reinstall' for all installed gstreamer*
packages. That fixed it.

Dunno which of the packages is the responsible one.

[Bug 66104] Re: scim input freezes in various applications

2007-09-27 Thread Markus
I'm using scim 1.4.7-1ubuntu2 and X11/Dynamic set to true, but input for
firefox still freezes sometimes. After some experimentation I came up
with the following procedure to reproduce this:

* Open firefox and any other window
* In firefox press ctrl-n immediately followed by alt-tab, focusing the other
window
* A new firefox window apears and the input is frozen.

If scim is not active input is not frozen.
